So the last two ROMs I switched to (Goodness) and (People's) basically instructed to "Get latest baseband and firmware here". I flashed it after the rom's were completed installing (using CWM).
I can't help but say the signal stinks now and won't connect at time. I can't send out sms from time to time as well. Sometime it shows that I have a good signal but i can't connect to any sites/apps.
Is this something I did wrong? Is there a fix?

So I should flash the LF9 radio? is there a reason for that particular radio? Sorry i'm just a bit lost with all of this. Thanks

+1 to that. I tried the latest Modem. I ended up switching back to LJ7 Modem.
This is interesting, the new modem is working great for my area, but all the others gave me the worst service

Hey guys,
So I am on EG30 modem (stock), and I only installed crawlcj's odexed stock rooted ROM.
I got the OTA update notification today morning and I just pressed update and walked away for like 30 minutes, and when I came back there was a yellow triangle with the android figure on the screen and it seemed to be stuck.
So I just held down the power button to turn the phone back on and it seems that the phone is still working fine under EG30 but EK02 was nowhere to be found.
I'd like to get the EK02, do you know why it failed and what I need to do to get the OTA to install correctly?
Thanks in advance
it failed because you are rooted and dont have stock recovery anymore. so if you want to upgrade to EK02 you should just flash the update that is posted already for rooted phones its fast and easy to do.this is the link to get you right to the new modem. after you flash the modem upgrade just chose a rom that has also be upgraded too. now you have the new update its just that easy

I'm going to jump onto this thread to because I'm having the same issue (and have searched this high and low for a solution). I have Crawrj's Stock EG30 Deodexed with Root 3.0/Busybox 1.18.4 on my phone. All I would like to do is to upgrade to EK02 and 2.3.6 (which I'm not sure if it's one and the same), remain stock but retain root. I don't have an SD card in my phone and I don't have clockworkmod (@ewalk4366 the video in your link assumes the upgrader has CWM). Since the OTA failed, I'm at a loss of how to proceed next. It seems I'm missing one thing or another when it comes to trying to upgrade. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. Sorry for some noob butter but I still don't have all the terminology down correctly, so there may be times where I say modem but I mean rom and visa versa. For the sake of this thread, I think I'm saying what I mean.
just install the new EL13 modem using odin... i hope you are rooted

Thanks for your response but don't I still have the stock recovery? Crawlrj's odexed busybox rooted 3.0 rom didn't have any other recovery mods..
And I'd like to have the completely stock version of the EG30 ROM and the Modem.. So I should flash both? Wouldn't that erase my memory?

You can flash the EL13 modem in CWM using the appropriate CWM MDM link in my signature.
I am in a similar situation. I currently have:
Android 2.3.4
Baseband: S710.10 S.EG30
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435734
ROM: midNIGHT ROM v2.2 NOCIQ ET4G
I want to install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332837
How would I go about doing this? I know how to use ODIN to flash stuff, also know how to use Clockwork to flash from phone, but I'm a newbie in this area and I don't want to brick my phone.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Just use CWM and flash the ROM. It'll install the ROM and the kernel. You can flash your radio at a later point from CWM also.
On the thread of the ROM I want, it says:
"Important Notes - Due to how this ROM is setup, a wipe is recommended BEFORE flashing if coming from another ROM(use FORMAT ALL attached)"
Does this mean that before installing the ROM I need to format the whole phone (minus the SD card)?
Thank you for your help!

The Modem, Kernel, and ROM are separate entities. This thread started off talking about modems, but now you are switching to talking about a ROM. Just wanted to clarify that in case things are getting mixed up.
If the ROM says you need to FORMAT all, that usually means if you are coming from a different ROM, you should do that. If you are upgrading from one version of that ROM to another, usually you won't need to format all, but sometimes you might. Ask your question on the ROM-specific discussion thread.
Thank you for your help. I tried to post on the ROM post but I couldn't due to being a passive user and the Development forums requiring a certain number of posts.
I backed up EVERYTHING with MyBackup Pro just now and I will format ALL, format cache, dalvik-cache, anything that says "erase" on CWM I will do ... and I'll report back with how it all went.
Thank you again for your helpful post.

Even though theoretically it is best to keep the Modem, Kernel, and ROM matched since they were tested together, in practice folks haven't had issues with mix and matching. Now with CWM flashable FULL modems for EG30/EG31/EK02/EL13, it is very easy to switch after the ROM flash. Just make sure your kernel is based off the newer EK02/EL13 to flash the FULL modems.

What do you want to revert? Modem, Kernel, ROM, or all three?
If all three, the easiest is to use the EG30 ODIN tar in my signature then apply the EK02 update immediately afterwards.
Hello gents,
Searched google for the answer and the first few pages of Q/A.
Now that I got that out of the way;
I am looking to get onto a newer build - specifically Macks Rom All Star. I see a modem update is necessary. What is the best bet method for flashing modems? Odin? Mobile Odin? Recovery?
I already have the "SPH-L900_MA7_Modem" file fortunately, but not looking to brick this neat ol device.
Thanks!!
Tried recovery and it worked great.
Updated to Macks AllStar without a hitch. Happy flashing!
Just download the modem zip and flash it in recovery. Or download the LJC to MA7 all in one zip and flash that. Recovery is typically easier for most users than ODIN or adb.

Disclaimer:
(1) This is not my work. I've simply collected files from various people/threads in the hopes of saving everyone time and effort. See credits below.
(2) Flashing radios is among the most dangerous thing we can do to our devices. If you flash any of these on your AT&T, T-Mobile, etc., you're very likely to brick your phone. While I have tested all of these files, you flash at your own risk. Again, this is Sprint only.
Instructions
Right now, there are different ways to switch radios based on the version you're looking for. Only 1 file is needed for the MD4, MC3, MB1, LJ7, LI3, LG8, and LG2 radios. Two files for the LEN and LF9 radios.
There is no magic or perfect modem. Try them out. See how they work for your phone in your coverage area. YMMV.
If you run into any problems, you can always try flashing a different file; however, you should know that Freeza's script creates a backup whenever you flash a new modem. You can find this file (modem.backup) at the root of your internal SD card (aka /sdcard), not on your micro SD card. Use http://www.mediafire.com/file/qvt2e9gldl7f8b5/SprintGalaxyS3RestoreModem.zip to revert and make sure that it too resides on your internal SD card. md5: 52BFCACBC872A62FB4FA3AE72CB212C9

Galaxy S3 - soft-bricked - able to get into Download Mode - how to fix?
Long story short - i tried doing a manual kitkat update and I am stuck at the screen shown in the attachment.
As in the attachment, I am able to get to the DOWNLOAD MODE screen by pressing Volume-down+Home+ Power. My question how do i flash Jelly Bean or Kit Kat on this phone - I just want to get back to a working phone.
Here are things I have tried:
I tried downloading a ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625, and using Odin (pressed on PDA button and selected image to flash) and I get an error ... the screenshot for the error is also attached.
History - This Samsung Galaxy S3 has an AT&T Jellybean 4.3 image but the phone is unlocked from the initial carrier (AT&T) and being used with T-Mobile now.

I sincerely appreciate any help here - this is my only phone and totally unusable right now.

There is no full tock 4.3 ROM for the i747. ATT only released 4.3 as an update to 4.1.
You should flash a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM to at least get your phone working.
Do do make any attempts to flash the att firmware from sammobile onto your phone as doing so may brick your phone.
Thanks for the great tip. THis is my first time - so where can I find custom ROMs? I am having trouble finding the right images. The phone was running Jellybean earlier, so OK just going back to that. Any links on where to find Custom ROMS and a suggestion on whcih exact file to use would be really helpful.
Thank you very much

Do this to at least get your phone booted:
Download the latest tar.md5 file from here: https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_...Edition/d2lte/
Download the latest CM10.2 and put it onto your external SD card. I know CM10.2 is but you need to get your phone working so you can determine the bootloader version on your phone. Place the SD card into the phone.
Launch Odin 3.07, make sure everything is unchecked except for F.reset time. Click on PDA, browse and select the tar.md5 file you downloaded, boot phone in download mode, connect phone to computer, flash recovery. When you see the word reset in the status window, disconnect the USB cable, pull the battery, boot into recovery mode, wipe cache, wipe data, wipe Dalvik, flash CM10.2, reboot.
Hello,
I have updated my S3 i747m to kitkat 4.4.2 from Rogers, but now I want to give it to a family member that doesnt understand english/korean/french, so I was wondering if I can use Odin to flash the AT&T 4.4.2, or if that would be like trying to downgrade and brick the phone.
Or if there is any other easy way to flash the AT&T 4.4.2 on a already updated device to 4.4.2.
You can try stock AT&T ROM on your phone as long as you do not flash the ATT bootloader and possibly the modem. To be safe, don't flash the ATT modem either.
