To clarify a little, as long as the HTC driver is installed on your PC, when you connect the phone via USB cable, the screen on your phone asks whether you want to mount the phone as a storage device, or just charge the phone via USB.

I mean if there is a way to connect my HTC one VX as "a storage device in old way"? as HTC one S, X etc do?

When I plug my phone into the computer it just starts charging. The computer no longer shows anything as being connected and I no longer get the Charge Only, HTC Sync, Mount As Hard Drive etc. menu on my phone. What do I do?

You have to connect the phone using Mass Storage mode. Or use the bluetooth function of the car (if available).

Bluetooth doesn't work, unfortunatly.
Now that I am using a proper data usb cable, the Desire is recognized but the data can't be read (error message on Volvo display). When I connect a usb stick it states "Read" for a while then I have all my mp3 folders.
When I connect my desire it states "Read" for about 30 seconds then I get the Error "Can't be read". Any ideas?
I have three same issue with my alpine deck. I don't think there is a work around. I think you need drivers for the phone as it isn't a generic mass storage device.

i tried to connect my htc desire z in my laptop but the computer did not recognize my device and i tried in my work pc that is a desktop and it do, later i tried to connect in another laptop and did not connect, and in another desktop and the device culd connect. can anybody help me. what is the diferents between desktop usb and laptops usb. or if is a hadware problem or firmware problem.
You have to install drivers so your desktop or laptop computer knows what your phone is. Otherwise, it has no way of knowing what it is, and just calls it a generic USB device.
Just install HTC Sync. This has the required drivers, and also the computer software to sync your personal data between the phone and your computer (if you desire to do so).

If its just to connect so you can add/remove stuff from your sd card it should be plug and play. But maybe its different in other countries lol

Have to tried changing the default connection setting to disk drive? Does ur computer recognise the phone at all like coming up in My computer as "Removable disk"? and are u on a stock or custom rom? Also u could try an app like Auto Mount SD card, or Multi Mount your SD card. Think Multi needs phone to be rooted but Auto doesn't. Maybe make sure your using the cable that came with the phone coz not all USB cables are set up for data exchange.
Hello people.
At the end of 2012 my wife got OTA upgrade (3 in a row) for her HTC One X.
The upgrade broke seriously the USB support on the phone.
Now the phone will turn USB Debugging when connected to a computer. Even though I disable USB Debugging in the settings! And even when I disable the whole Developers' Section the settings!
When I disable the developers' section the phone asks me to enable the USB Debugging.
Even worse: there is no option to make the phone present itself as USB Hard Drive, and I can't download the pictures and videos from the phone. And since the phone's memory is not removable I'm stuck!
It also seems to not charge while connected to a computer (charges when connected to the supplied charger).
Has anyone observed this?
I've reported the issue to HTC, from where I got just one "We'll escalate the issue..." and then complete silence.
What can I do?
I may be able to pull the contents via ADB, but that's not a solution!
Android Version: 4.1.1
HTC Sense Version: 4+
Software Version: 3.14.401.31
Please advise!
The phones connection mode was changed to MTP with the laast update. Support for usb mass storage was dropped.
You should be able to use MTP if you install htc sync on your pc.

You can still drag and drop with USB Debugging enabled. The One X will show up.
