Need help- unable to transfer files - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Am unable to transfer files to my Xperia S from my PC, but can transfer from my mobile to PC. Whenever I tries transferring files to mobile, it shows dialog-''device not responding or stopped''.
Any suggestions please.
Thanks in advance.

Dude,
Need a bit more info, you running stock or a custom ROM?
Are you trying to use PC companion?
Have you got all the drivers installed?
Sent from my Xperia S using xda app-developers app

Am on stock .55 rooted. I had all the drivers installed and am not using pc companion to transfer files but I had that installed. Previously am on xzx2 and everything worked well. Also tried sd mounter but it also not working.

Dude,
Try this worked for a friend of mine.
Before beginning make sure that you have the latest versions of your Windows updates and Windows Media Player.
1. Begin by turning off USB debugging if it's enabled.
Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging
2. Clear data for the MTPapp in the phone.
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Mtpapp
3. Connect your phone via USB and go to the Device manager on your computer. Check if you can locate your phone or any Unknown/New device that could be your phone or if you perhaps see the phone as an device. Right click it and select to uninstall.
4. Still in Device manager open the list for USB controllers (Universal Serial Bus Controllers) and right click each one of these controllers and select to uninstall.
5. Go to the control panel and Add/ remove programs. Select Add/ remove Windows components. Check Windows Media Player and next. Finish this guide.
When all of this is done reboot your computer and before connecting your phone again repeat step 2.
Let me know if this worked for you.

Thank you very much for your solution.
But I flashed my phone again using flash tool and formated my sd memory. Now its working great. BTW thanks again for ur solution and I already kept a note on it as it may helps in the future.

[Q] How to grant access to SD on PC once using cm7?

I follow the quoted post of Aleks to root my phone and setup cm7, it can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194&page=50
Unfortunately I was lazy and used Samsung Kies to access my SD cards instead of following his instructions to allow my PC to view them. Now using cm7 I don't get the usb utilities option he describes when I go under wireless and network settings.

Thanks for the quick and straight forward reply. Good thing people are so diligent about insisting on a nandroid backup. Loved what I saw of cm7 and look forward to a stable version!

USB works fine for me on cm7. Adb also. Although I know some people can't get it to work. The first time you plugged your phone in after flashing cm7 did you let all the drivers install when you plugged your phone in? It took my laptop like 10 minutes to find and install the drivers

To be fair it was connecting to Samsung Keis still but I assumed after five minutes it wasn't working. Maybe I needed to leave it for 10+ minutes connecting?
it works fine for me too on cm7!! im using cm7 as a daily driver

It worked once on my windows 7 machine. Doesn't work at all on Ubuntu.

Okay using the stock Android OS when I go into Wireless and Network settings there is an option for usb utilities that when I go into allows me to access the SD cards on my PC. Does this appear only if connected to a PC via usb? Because I recall looking in the same or similar settings option when running cm7 and not finding usb utilities.
SD card mounting works fine if you use Auto USB Mount from the Market.
Wifi explorer from marketplace works for me

It should automatically prompt you to view internal and external sd cards on your pc. Are you rooted?

i have this problem on XP sometimes too, even with the drivers installed.
Try changing it from MTP to PTP. Let the computer find it again, then switch it back to MTP. Works for me every time

and to answer your question, i am not rooted. DO I HAVE TO BE ROOTED TO VIEW FILES ON THE SD CARD ON MY PC VIA USB? please help because i'm on the verge on stomping on this galaxy s3. thanks,
You don't need root to view files in your phone. Did you put an SD card in there?

i seriously dont want to use airdroid.. i need to move heavy files and i dont want to spend years by my PC waiting for my phone to finish transferring files over the air.. i want to be able to see my sd card via usb.
thanks for the encouragement.. i know i'll get a solution with your help..
Fair enough. What if you do install windows media player 11 and see what that does?
Sent from my SGH-T999
Um the sdcard can only write at about say max 80Mbps sustained. WLAN will be fast enough at 40.. what is USB2.0?
Anyways if you are putting lots of files, leave them on external, and don't have to worry about copying again. No good reason to have then on sdcard vs external.
You can just copy to ext then use any file mgr program to copy it using the phone.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I use N so it's 100mbps and fast enough to not notice any difference. I'm guessing your problem is that XP is old as F. A simple solution is to just plug the sd card into your computer. But as it was pointed out the sd card is slower than wifi so it really doesn't matter.
Oh and I'd just like to point out you could have moved the files 10000 times by now. With airdroid you can move around the house while files are transferring. So you can relax and still use the phone instead of being tethered to the computer. And if you have splashtop you'd never even have to touch your PC.
Put Linux on a flash drive and use that?

Are you just trying to transfer files cuz you don't need adb to transfer. Just mount your SD card, drag and drop.
Now if you are trying to push system files, then ok. To start, what Rom are you running? Also, you can do what I said above then use a root browser from the play store to move the files within.

the latest cm7 gb nitely and i updated my radio to 2.15.00.12.19 with
mason-Gd15r c4-sbc kernel i want abd so that when i download a new rom i can move it from the computer to the phone instead of downloading it str8t to the phone can you help me
First. it's ADB, not ABD.
Second, it's definitely that the phone's not going into Debug mode?? You have the path for ADB Set in your command line, the server starts, stops, etc?
Also, why can't you just connect the phone to your computer with the USB Cable, toggle USB Connect and have at it?

[Q] enable mass storage on galaxy note2

hello
is there any software to enable internal mass storage??
i have deleted photos of the mobile camera by mistake
and i want to recover them
my pc doesnt recognize my mobile as disk drive to let the recovery software scan it
note: my mobile is galaxy note 2 jelly bean version 4.1.2 and i stopped using it since i have delete the pictures
plzzzz help
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding that, once you delete a photo, it's gone for good. You can enable USB debugging and maybe get access to some system files through Windows Explorer but I don't think you'll be able to find missing stuff like that without having a root explorer installed (and have root access on your device).
On 4.1.2, to enable USB debugging, go to Settings > Developer Options (near the bottom) > Click slider over to On > Scroll down and check "USB Debugging Enabled". Connect it via USB to your computer and it should recognize and download drivers for it (if you don't have them installed already). Once that happens, you should be able to browse the file system but it won't be the root of the system. Just the /sdcard/ directory.
One other thing - check to see if any type of automatic backup has been enabled. If you use Google+ on your phone, it might've backed those photos up without you knowing.
Hope you find them!
