Are you just trying to transfer files cuz you don't need adb to transfer. Just mount your SD card, drag and drop.
Now if you are trying to push system files, then ok. To start, what Rom are you running? Also, you can do what I said above then use a root browser from the play store to move the files within.

the latest cm7 gb nitely and i updated my radio to 2.15.00.12.19 with
mason-Gd15r c4-sbc kernel i want abd so that when i download a new rom i can move it from the computer to the phone instead of downloading it str8t to the phone can you help me
First. it's ADB, not ABD.
Second, it's definitely that the phone's not going into Debug mode?? You have the path for ADB Set in your command line, the server starts, stops, etc?
Also, why can't you just connect the phone to your computer with the USB Cable, toggle USB Connect and have at it?

I've tried this on 2 different pc's now (both Win7 x64) and installed HTC sync to get the driver as well. On the phone I choose 'connect as usb drive'. The phone shows up as a drive letter but with no media detected.
The phone is rooted and running Myn's WarmZ.

Do you mean usb-ms toggle? When I enable it I get a prompt 'usb enable. Press power to disable and return to menu', and there's no way to go back without disabling it again. This is with Amon Ra 2.3.
I thought that was only for transferring files while in recovery?
Its the same as mounting the sd while the phone is booted. Do your files show up when u mount in recovery?
Yeah. You're trying to transfer files.. right? Use HTC sync provided on your sdcard somewhere

This happened to me once, a long time ago. Apparently, the phone doesn't like it when you change the name of the SD card. If you did something similar, change it back.
That's about the one thing I can think of off the top of my head.
As the title says; all of a sudden I cannot drag & drop folders from phone to PC. It starts transferring and it either stops without anything moving over or stops after 2-3 folders. Need to make a back-up of CWM & TiBu so I can format everything and do a new, fresh install but, nada..
I had this problem as well. My fix was to turning off and on debugging sometimes helps as well as changing the modes for the USB connection from MTP to PTP and let the drivers install then change back to MTP and finaly keep awake in the dev options on the settings menu.
After all did all that mine hasn't had a problem again yet. I've also herd that you should plug it into a USB port that's not a hub/extra port on the case go for one of the USB ports on the back of your PC that are directly on the mobo.
Good luck.
same my problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460152
try reboot phone and transfer again
I have the same problem but it is only within clockworkmod folder. Any other folder or file copies with no issues over to my PC. Windows explorer crashes every time i attempt to move one of my nandroids over to my PC. I am rooted with the correct drivers.

i have this problem on XP sometimes too, even with the drivers installed.
Try changing it from MTP to PTP. Let the computer find it again, then switch it back to MTP. Works for me every time

You don't need root to view files in your phone. Did you put an SD card in there?

i seriously dont want to use airdroid.. i need to move heavy files and i dont want to spend years by my PC waiting for my phone to finish transferring files over the air.. i want to be able to see my sd card via usb.
thanks for the encouragement.. i know i'll get a solution with your help..
Fair enough. What if you do install windows media player 11 and see what that does?
Sent from my SGH-T999
Um the sdcard can only write at about say max 80Mbps sustained. WLAN will be fast enough at 40.. what is USB2.0?
Anyways if you are putting lots of files, leave them on external, and don't have to worry about copying again. No good reason to have then on sdcard vs external.
You can just copy to ext then use any file mgr program to copy it using the phone.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I use N so it's 100mbps and fast enough to not notice any difference. I'm guessing your problem is that XP is old as F. A simple solution is to just plug the sd card into your computer. But as it was pointed out the sd card is slower than wifi so it really doesn't matter.
Oh and I'd just like to point out you could have moved the files 10000 times by now. With airdroid you can move around the house while files are transferring. So you can relax and still use the phone instead of being tethered to the computer. And if you have splashtop you'd never even have to touch your PC.
Put Linux on a flash drive and use that?
With windows, you can mount the SD card and transfer files to it normally. On OS x, we have to use the htc sync manager. Is there anyway to mount the SD card without it?

The HTC Sync is horribly slow. I took the SD card out, put it in the adapter, and popped it in my MBP. It worked flawlessly.

Yeah I didn't even bother it's useless. I want to drag and drop the files myself. Taking the sd card out is an option but it's a hassle since you need a pin all the time. I'm trying some apps in the play store but no luck so far. Kind of dumb how they're forcing htc sync on us
You will need ROOT and app called "DriveDroid"
Download Android File Manager - http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
Open DriveDroid app, give it root access and under its settings, change USB or Permanent USB mode to "Mass Storage Android Debugging"
Connect to OSX and open the Android File Manager app on OSX... next time you wont need to open it manually, it will open everytime you connect the phone.
This might break connection to HTC Sync though
(I use the above for my iMac)

Do you have to reboot your Mac every time you want to mount the Android device? I am having issues getting the device to mount to an already running OSX computer.
What I don't get is why we need extra software. My old htc one s mounts the sd card just fine with no extra software

The solution is uninstall HTC Sync Manager and using DriveDroid change to Manually change permanent Mode to MTP.
Is there a way though to force the internal storage and SD card to be directly mounted onto OSX, rather than having to use another 3rd party app (android file transfer)?

Its not 3rd party ... its from Google
And the answer is no to your question, unless you run a SMB server on the phone over your wifi network, then your phone will popup in Finder as a network device. I have tried 3rd party phone apps that do this but the connection is unreliable and transfer speed slow.

I've been trying to transfer the files I took from my Galaxy S4 and saved them to my computer, to my G3. When I connect the G3 to my computer, I only see 2 files in the "Internal Storage". It won't recognize my SD Card either. Is there a setting I may be missing, that will allow me to see other folders? I can't copy and paste anything to my Internal Storage. Thanks for your help.

Hmmm...I tried to upload the pics from my desktop and I get this message. "Failed to upload. No write permission on sd card."
I have to turn on the camera mode for it to transfer. It won't recognize anything in MTP mode. :/
I wish I could do all this without using AirDroid. It won't show the phone in MTP, but in PTP it will, but only 2 folders on the whole phone, no sdcard. And I can't directly put anything on the phone.
I had a problem with my D855 MTP mode as well. Folders are all there, but some files are either missing, or reduced in size. I cannot copy them out to PC. In these folders, I also cannot copy files into them. What I did to resolve the problem, is to reboot the phone with USB cable attached to the PC. Then, before the phone can complete its boot up sequence, I will have some time to copy the files in and out. It is really quite troublesome.
MTP troubles?
This is what's worked for me (D850/at&t):
Install LG United Mobile driver for ADB support
Enable USB debugging in developer options on phone
Verify MTP mode is selected
Connect USB and accept RSA signature on phone
I know that ADB isn't particularly necessary for MTP, but in my experience with roms on the old Nexus (for which I used Google's ADB driver), it was a sure bet every time. gl

Thanks for the suggestions guys. But it seems like my phone refuses to be recognized in MTP mode. And only partially recognized in PTP. I think I may have to do a hard reset this weekend. :/
I went back to Best Buy yesterday and returned my phone and got another one. And now my file transfers work. I guess I had a defective phone. I'm glad everything got back to normal.
I also had the problem that I didn't see my SDcard, but when I disabled debugging mode I suddenly could
