Kindle Fire may be bricked.

I may have messed this one up big time.I have read other threads and they aren't helping. I attempted to root my kindle fire using the kindle fire utility. Something weren't wrong about the time it was installing firefirefire. Now it's not accepting fastboot commands or adb for that matter. It just says <waiting for device>. This is all rather sad to me. I'm like a child who has broken his favorite toy. If someone with a little more skill could help me, that would be wonderful.

Factory Cable
So a factory cable has failed to work as well, although that may be from bad build quality.

This is a typical problem with the way Windows handles
drivers. For some reason, when switching from normal to fastboot mode (necessary for firefirefire), the drivers stop working and need to be reinstalled. Sometimes it works smoothly, but most of the time, getting the drivers to work in fastboot mode seems impossible. Just keep working at it

A factory cable simply puts the device in fastboot mode, which it's already in.

Do a hard reset on you kindle fire whiles its plugged in. Then update the drivers again. Now open up another KFU run.bat and select 1(bootmode) and 1(normal). Now your Kindle Fire should finish rooting.

Bricked and need help!!!!!

Howdy everyone,
I was trying to install a new ROM on my kindle fire using TWRP but I must have goofed and deleted something because I bricked my kindle fire. My Kindle Fire is stuck on the kindle fire logo screen and it stays there without restarting. If I hold the power button the kindle fire will eventually shut down. When I plug in the kindle to my computer, the computer reads it and I can find it on my Device and Printers applet but I cannot open in My Computer. I’m running Windows 7 Home Premium. I've tried using the Kindle Fire Utility and the Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility and nothing works.
If anybody can help me unbrick … please please please help me out. Also, if you can write it out, step-by-step that would help me out since I’m still new to rooting.

how is it that you cannot get back into recovery do a wipe and reflash or restore a backup?

I don't know what's going on with it. I don't know what other info to tell you all but if you guys ask questions I will try to answer it to the best of my abilities. Thanks.

I share the same problem as you, unfortunately.
I've also tried the unbrick utility, however i can not get my windows premium to recognize the device as kindle. Tried to inistall the drivers. No avail on my end for any of the solutions provided.
Tried to figure out how to install drivers as ADB composite, not sure how that is done either.
Still searching out answers, hopefully someone can give us advice and send us in the right direction.
If i find a resolution, i will post here to assist you.

Ok I know tons of people think they have bricked their device, but usually it is just a soft brick....hopefully I am the same. I tried to root my kindle fire using KFU. Something happened, it didn't work. Now it just stays on the boot screen. In windows it isn't recognized, I have read the forums and know to reinstall the drivers, but I can't because Windows recognizes it as an unknown device, (code 43), so they won't install. I have tried using the unbrick utility, but it doesn't work since windows isn't recognizing the device. I have a mac too that won't recognize it, at least I don't think it does. Maybe there is a way to get the drivers installed I am missing, but I tried following all of the tutorials here, and its not wokring. Is it possible that I can still fix it, or is it done. Thanks for any help.

Is it a 1st Gen Kindle Fire or 2nd? If it's a 2nd Gen you "might" be in trouble

In most cases I've seen of Windows complaining of an unknown device, it seems to be a problem with the bootloader. The fact that you can't even get it to accept commands from the Mac leads me to believe it is the same in your case.
You'll likely need to put the device in USBboot ("shorting trick") and install a working bootloader with Firekit.

What Soup said will work. This is what I did, as I was having the same problem as you.
1. Turn off your KF
2. peel off back cover from KF.
3. Make sure the A side of the usb cable is plugged in to your PC.
4. Find the short spot and put something there like a small screw driver point or a paper clip.

5. While you have your metal on the short spot turn on the KF.
6. After about 20 seconds or so Windows will now recognize it. Use KFU to put it in recovery mode, installing Fire, ETC.

I having the same problem but for Kindle fire hd 7". I tried to use both stock cable and factory cable but it didn't work anyway. Any solution? please help me. Thank you

So I picked up a refurbished Kindle Fire 1st Gen for dirt cheap. Tried to root with KFU 0.99. It downloaded the necessary files, and said it would reboot the device, which it did, then got stuck in Fastboot. I have read this forum for about an hour straight and it looks like my best option is to get a factory cable and save myself hours of trying things. Most of the suggestions I find are way out of date, so I'm not sure what the CURRENT recommended suggestions are to fix this problem.
I can't get the Kindle Fire to show in Device Manager since it has been stuck in Fastboot mode. It just shows as "unknown device" in the USB section, even after uninstalling old drivers and reinstalling the ones with KFU, rebooting, etc. Should I just order a factory cable, or does anyone have suggestions for up-to-date things to try? (Today is 6/7/2013) Or will a factory cable not even work if I can't get the device to register in Device Manager anymore?
I have probably rooted 30 devices from Apple TVs to Android tablets and phones. This is the first problem I've ever run into!
Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you!

Something similar happened to me. I used KFU and then the Kindle got stuck in the logo screen. I reinstalled the drivers on a different computer and plugged in the Kindle. I just reset the boot mode and it worked fine.

ok so i bricked my kindle and i have everything to fix it but when i plug my kindle fire hd in the computer dosnt pick it up. idk much but i read about some drivers needed so i tried installing ABD drivers so i would detect my kindle fire hd so i could fix it well they always fail to install idk why just dosnt install im on windows 7 and i dont even know if i need those any help at all is greatly appreciated

If its bricked it usually doesn't show up, you have to get it into fast boot mode with a fast boot cable in order to get your PC to recognize it. I saw u said HD though this is in the kf2 section, so I'm basing this on what I know about bricked hd's. I don't have a kf2.

Thank you and sorry about that i saw kindle fire and i was very mad about this kindle not working i have tried everything in my power but i must resort down to getting a fastboot cable i guess wish me luck
