Its really annoy. Menu and Search keep pressed for no reason. I left on desk and look, and menu and search keep pop and look like phone caught virus and play itself. I see my friend got phone with no button but button was on Screen UI. I want on my phone and disable damn annoy button. Sometime my phone "back button" keep pause on game or exit some app. My phone got bricked and tjagged because I was tried on Trinagle away then it sudden Home key hit when I click process.
There any way to disable button and use button UI?
Thanks, Sam
It sounds like you're dealing with the Phantom menu popup issue. It has been talked about here before. It appears to be a hardware defect that usually manifests when signal strength is low. Try turning off data.

You can follow my tutorial. Read the OP a few times to fully understand how to do it before you try it.

I'd like to start a child's game and hand my phone to a child with learning disabilities so he can have fun drawing, popping bubbles or exploding fireworks. But he always presses the home button within twenty seconds of getting the phone and now I have to take the phone back before he uninstalls something or calls someone.
I'd like to temporarily disable especially the home key, but also the others.
Is there an app or method to do this?
I don't want to permanently stop the button just long enough that I can leave my Epic 4g with a child running a game unattended.

+1 to this.
You might check out an app called Screen Filter, but I think it only disables the backlight on the softkeys.
Bit of a bizarre bug I've noticed. If you open a program that has the settings button in the bottom right of the screen, and then use the power button to close down, when you hit the power button again, you get an unusable settings button on your lockscreen.
Don't know if anyone else has noticed, or if it's been picked up before. I searched but couldn't find anything. It's not really even an issue. Just thought I'd share it...
its a secret.

I've had the phone for two days now and this has happened 3 times now.
The worst one was I got a phone call but the keyboard was up and the back button wasn't there to get rid of it. So I couldn't answer the phone.
One time I couldn't exit the settings menu because the buttons disappeared.
To remedy I turn off the display, turn it back on and unlock to the camera. I think because the camera has the special hidden buttons it causes the phone to refresh the button display otherwise I couldn't find another way to do it.
Has this happened to others? I haven't seen threads about it.

I lost them once but got them back by turning the phone sideways and then back upright once the buttons reappeared.

Oh wow, yea, that would probably work too. But some apps lock to portrait (dialer).

Happened to me while I was playing a game (Reckless Gateway) and received a call at the same time. After the call, soft buttons wouldn't appear anymore, had to restart my phone
I have only lost the buttons when flashing a mod that was not compatible...in that situation I did not have the virtual buttons or the notification bar at all.
Never happened to me on stock or rom. What build/android is your phone? You can find info in settings>about phone

This has happened to me a couple times while using Google Nav. I just pulled down the notification bar and hit the settings button - that seemed to bring the buttons back. Strange issue.
Just a few kinks that need ironing out.. hopefully Google is aware of minor bugs like this already

Yep, exactly. Though I wouldn't call this minor because it made me miss a call.
Another thing I just noticed. Go into an app that has the menu virtual button (the three dots) then turn off the screen. Turn it back on and the menu button will be the only virtual button on the Lock Screen. You can press it and automatically unlock the phone. I'm using slide to unlock and the news and weather app to do this every time.
Edit: Just tried with a different lock (pattern) and the menu button will not unlock. But it is still there and you can press it. It just does nothing. Weird.
I don't know if you guys have the problem. Sometimes when I hit the back button, it hits twice for me, resulting in unwanted exit of apps or two pages of backward on web browser. I encounter this everyday, not very often but annoying enough. Any one has the same problem or solution?

I get that feeling too, sometimes I dont even feel like I touched it when it goes back lol You'll get better at not touching it I guess. ^_^
I have just looked for a solutuon to this issue and decided to use on screen keys.

This link seems to be working fine but i can not completely disable the hardware keys and turn the lights off.
As much as this pains me to say this I dropped my phone =O ha and the only thing that stopped working was my power button, its really weird if I press it really hard sometimes it registers the press. Has this happened to anyone else? Obvious work around is the toggles to lock the screen and home button to wake screen but it is a little annoying I guess ha kina miss being able to push the button or hold it for reboot options ( which can be worked around wiyh the toggles once again)
I suppose if you are rooted you could flash an AOSP rom and enable the navigation bar. Then you could remap the home button to power...
It isn't ideal but it's better than nothing.
Edit: if you need help remapping the buttons, PM me.

Is there any apparent damage? I would be taking it back to where I got it and ask them what to do.
