Hi guys, I know that it's a stupid question but I'm new in the Nexus world and I'd like try a custom rom. My problem is that there are many roms and i don't know what to try. I have Samsung Nexus maguro and i would install a complete rom. Completo about led contro, navbar color etc...
Can you help me please??
thank you very much
Cant go wrong with CM, i dont think CM has a navbar color control though, but LED control yes.

I have asked a advice ! It's very different!!!
Go to dev section
Click on threads that say [ROM]
Read feature lists
Look at screen shots
Consider options
Narrow choices
Read feature lists again, compare
Read user comments
Critical thinking
Pick one
Flash it

I searched for "ROM comparison" and found a listing of all the ROMs here. Is there a single thread that addresses the differences in ROMs here?
Thank you in advance.
theres a thread in the wrong section asking about it

Thank you, will go check this out. As for your last comment, isn't THIS the developer's section? I'm asking about Evo ROMs specifically, not generic Android ROMs.
Yeah, you posted this in the wrong "section" so it was a "since we're already here thing." I meant if you are curious about the different "features" then you could always check the [ROM] threads themselves as they usually outline key information / additions / things missing / removed etc
The comparison links were more about comparing performance between ROMs, guess that was what I initially thought you meant. Sorry if it wasn't.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic&useskin=vector#ROMs
EVO Wiki (which is above us) can link you to a listing of all the ROMs, some may be scattered throughout a few pages but that'll link you to em.

You've been very helpful and patient, thank you. Will go check out the wiki.
I was hoping for a place where all the ROMs would be listed and there was a feature comparison as you guessed along with a performance comparison.
I just updated to the latest Fresh ROM and was wondering what the others offer that makes them unique. Fresh doesn't include TI Backup, he emailed me last night and I wish he would but it's ROM and his choice. So, I'd like to find one that has TI Backup pre-installed. I use this daily and every time I have to restore from a ROM switch. Or just for sanity's purposes.

Sorry I'm slow at finding this. But if you check my sig, you will find a chart comparing all the main ROMs, they compare battery, performance, what features are working, and few additional details that make each ROM unique. Some of the cells are still blank and are being filled in as I get the data.
As far as having a ROM with TI pre-installed, most do not. Most devs rarely put on any other apps that they did not personally make themselves. Some do add apps such as there personal app for updates/profiles, google search, updated gmail/facebook, ect.
I hope this helps
Hi all,
I am going through all the threads that have ics based roms for our phone and thought it might be a good idea if we had a communal collation of all ics roms that are active in this forum with provided chainlogs and small reviews of said rom and what issues they have.
Reason for this is simple, to help other users that are not confident in flashing up to 4.0.3 unaware that they may run into something that they did not bargain for.. Hopefully this way we
A) Get a general run down each week as to what rom is working well which are not.
B) Issues/bugs.
C) Reviews of what works and not.
D) Temp fixable issues ie: auto rotation.
E) May help in less clutter in actual development thread.
I thought I would put this out see if anyone agrees here. I am more than welcome that if we use this thread as a starting point.
In no way shape or form that this thread will be used as a means of competitiveness between devs, to start flaming in any sort of fashion, this is purely a thread designed to help everyone with ics progression where its at, what dev's are up too and which would be safe to flash and what is not and is for experimental use.
Hopefully this could be a useful thread, with the dev's permission in doing this of course
Cheers.
I like the idea
+1 to this idea!!
There are already Q&A threads for each of the ROM's. Why make the board more cluttered than it already is by re-posting what is already in those threads?
People need to learn to use the search function and stop being lazy and actually take the time to read a thread every now and then. A thread like this will do nothing but enable the lazy to be even less productive and will not help. You will just see the same questions asked here over and over and over and over and over just like in all the other threads.
Also if people would read a damn OP like they are supposed to before flashing a ROM they would already know what does and doesn't work and if the ROM is a RC or experimental.
+1

Valued response, and yes using the search tool does help, but. rather than searching for what is needed why don't we have one thread to sum up on all progression? This thread is not designed to have countless questions all this is to gather weekly updates on ics roms from there respected developer. If someone wanted to ask questions they should be directed to the respected Q&A thread as they have there own. If someone wishes to choose to read up on what is happening in the world of ics t989 development then they come here nothing more nothing less.
As this wouldn't be hard to do at every week commencing someone can be anyone can choose to post up any sort of update to any rom and that is valid for that week only... then make up another thread so for example this one wouldn't spiral out of control and inform a mod to delete or close thread... simple that way it would stay fresh relevant with what we want to know, and of course anyone can participate in this.
Again thanks for your input, I'm not saying this is what we should be doing but a suggestion to everyone and see if this would make life a little easier on some. Alternatively if you don't like it then don't post anything worth mentioning and leave for people who could benefit from it
Cheers.

To replace my battery and my camera since it force closes, I use QuickPic as my gallery and Camera zoom FX Pro as my camera. They work pretty well with some minor set backs.
Echo?
Are there any ICS ROMs that do not have an echo????
It seems to be an issue with the flashing process as far as echo goes...easy does it, my DD has no echo...actually while many people have reported that among other bugs the only one I have is the reboot hang...which really...tough **** I have to hold the power button down the few times I need to turn it off lol. Oddly though it does not hang if I reboot into recovery from rom manager.
Ics is really weird...everyone is getting different bugs following the same install process. I'm guessing some of our devices are more willing to adapt to the skyrocket kernel than others...

Well before I went on vacation Tuesday I was playing around with a few of the different ics that are there for tmo gs2 and found that a lot of issues went away when I unmounted the SD card. The camera had no problem and I didn't notice any echoed sound. Kind of strange but one thing I noticed that a lot of native ics devices don't have external SD cards. Might be something for devs to look at.

Hello all, i am searching in the forum for this but i cannot find an answer: I would like to build a "pure Google" rom with only few tweaks: toggles on notification screen, also i would like to mod the navigations buttons, tweaks that i find in AOKP and in my favourite rom, JBSourcery. But, for stability and battery duration, i prefer stock JB rom. How could I make that? There is a tutorial or something like taht in forum? Thank you all
why doesnt everybody pay attention to the STICKIES

Okay Guys... Welcome to Wildfire S forums... Please read the brief explanation about how things runs around here and also some most common questions which can be found spamming the forums here.
We don't have enough mods here and it's becoming a real mess here.
Let me try to explain what goes where in the simplest way possible.
Q/A: Every Question about the device or related to it anyway. No we don't answer questions like what's Justin Beiber's sexuality here. So please. Next time you have a question. Remember. Its a QUESTION HENCE Q/A. How difficult is that?
Dev Unless you are Making a ROM or a contribution which is related to firmware or anything like that. Please for the sake of our sanity stop posting it there.

Now Comes the award winning question, "Hi! I wanna root my device. Can you tell me how?"
Dude for the love of God take a look at Index. You can find many threads explaining in the simplest manner how to do the job.
Here's a quick answer for some random questions!
1. How to expand internal memory?
~ You can use link2sd or data2sd or int2ext+ or whatever you find and is compatible with your ROM. Refer to the ROM's thread on this.
2. Stuck at HTC logo.
- Wipe data, wipe davlik cache, wipe boot, wipe system, wipe battery stats. Try again. Allow it some minutes, Maybe it's just taking some time.
3. Which is the best ROM. (keeping aside the known bugs)
- Let me be brief and explain what's pro and cons of these specific roms.
--> Sense/GB ROM: Laggy, Awesome UI, Good camera and video playback, less battery life.
--> CM/GB ROM: fast, crap ui (unless you theme it pretty good), lot of customizations, good battery life.
--> CM/ICS ROM: fast, clean, fair customizations, Supports HQ playback now. can be used as daily ROM, looks good, great battery life, almost perfect except a aggy camera.
--> MIUI/ICS ROM: fast, pre installed apps, thousands of themes, same ics bugs, great customizations, great battery life.
--> CM/JB ROM: WIP means still not as stable and has many bugs. Can be fast, can be slow. Depends on builds, average battery life.
4. How can I customize my ROM?
- UOT kitchen, many random customizations on XDA.
5. Battery life is poor! What to do?
- Turn off autosync.
- Auto brightness.
- Disable animations, vibration feedback, wifi, mobile data when not in use.
- Check background apps which might keep cpu awake.
- use smartass v2 governer.
6. I found a bug. How to get into notice and solve it?
- Check if it's not already reported.
- Put it in the bugtracker of the dev.
- Submit a clean logcat to dev.
7. What is the correct way to install a ROM? In detail please.
- Backup stuff with Titanium backup or whatever you prefer.
- Take a nandroid just in case.
- Wipe data, 2 times just to be sure.
- Wipe davlik cache
- Wipe system
- Wipe boot
- Wipe battery stats
- Install File, select ROM
- Install Gapps. (If required, Sense and MIUI ROMS are bundled with Gapps by default so you need not flash it. Also ROBOTO Mod doesnt require Gapps.)
- Reboot
(For more specific procedure refer to the ROM you are installing)
8. What is nandroid?
- Nandroid is a special backup which is prepared by your phone's custom recovery. It just backs up all your system data, including your ROM and apps abd even apps installed in memory card and it can restore to as it was when the backup was taken... Just to be safe. Take one before flashing any rom.
9. I can't find play store!
-Flash GAPPS.
10. I can't download anything from PlayStore and It sometimes even give me errors.
- Remove the Google Account from Settings and then add again. That'd do it.
11. I have more questions?
- Again... Post it in the appropriate section.
Thanks for reading this. I hope you are somewhat clear of things.
These were all my views/whatsoever written here. I was pissed by so many idiotic posts.
Thanks.
P.S. Share this post and also suggest any new info which can be added.

I explain every new members. What pissed me off was watching the same person post in the wrong section again. I don't mean to offend anybody. Noobs means newbies. Also It's XDA's rule to read everything.
I was just trying to help because we don't have an active mod in this forum and it's spammed with same questions all over again. Maybe a title like this would attract someone to read it first. You'd have seen me posting link of this to people who are posting in wrong section and even requesting them to post in right one.

Yes, you should NOT make threads like this.
But in response to your question, if you've already flashed 4 Roms and haven't found something you like then perhaps it's best that you stick with Stock and just install a custom Kernel. The Roms available here are somewhat see what fits you and there is no consensus as to which the best Roms is, all i can do is wish you luck in your search for the Rom that fits you.
Get the app, drippler for sgy in play store, search there and there's a section with like 30 roms with screenshots, details, links and instructions on how to flash each one individually. Or if you have a laptop there's tutorials here that show you how to make your own.

These type of threads are really frowned upon and I'll tell you why. What rom works best for me might run like crap for the next person. It's all subjective and comes down to preference. The only way to find what's best for YOU is flash them all and test them out and then decide which is best for you. If you asked who is the hottest girl in the world you would get all different answers... same applies with roms
