Yes u can. I just did it. I just deleted Phonesky.apk and replace it with this apk with root explorer. I didn't even rename this apk to Phonesky. I just leaved the name as it was. It's working.

you can install it just like normal app. it will applied as updates. same like how normally play store update itself. and you can revert back to previous version by remove updates through app management on setting.
i personally always install play store and gms update manually after switch to another rom. well, because i have limited data plan.
After you installed play store, turn it to system file; then I think you won't take any problem.
Version 4.0.26 is out.

It worked fine for me using grif's cm. I just installed it like a normal apk and it worked, no problems.
@redlag
It's faster than the previous version. It's not blazing fast but it's fast enough. I would suggest you try it. The first time you open the new market might be a bit slow but after that it's quite fast
For those who have the 3.2.0 Market installed:
Apk installation won't work until you go back to an older version like 3.1.5.

This is the changelog from the update:
APKs and libs updated to 4.0.4 versions where available
Google Play Store's APK renamed from Vending.apk (Gingerbread standard) to Phonesky.apk (ICS standard)
Google Play Store updated to 3.5.16
Gmail removed as it is now available in the Google Play Store
I fail to see what is unique here that you cannot update through Playstore.

Then you obviously didn't look in the gapps zip. There are a number of system files in the zip that are not market apps. Why not take a minute to look? You might even learn something new.

Noobish question, if I'm running a themed, custom ROM what is the likely result of my flashing this gapp package? Will it alter the look of my app icons? Could it cause any conflict with something packaged in with my ROM?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, great mod especially for amoled screens, unfortunatelly I have problem installing it in i8190.
When I try to install it gives me this error message (calendar and music):

Package with that name and different signature already installed.
I cannot uninstall the original apps since they are flashed in the rom. Any ideas?
Maybe flashable?
(benz rom by the way).

You have to push the apk to system/app in order for it to work.

Yeah I know that but thought that the apk would replace the stock one. No biggie, using a similar app widget. Thanks for your time.

I forgot to backup the original Accuweather files. Does someone have a flashable version of the original one or the files needed to restore it?
Also OP is there any possibility that you can make a 50% transparency of this? Thanks in advance
Heres a zipped up file of the apk, DO NOT FLASH this, download it and extract the file for the stock accuweather apk.

Yes I know thank you so much m8. :good:
Stupid question but will this work on Nova launcher?
Can you bring over the old-look Accuweather widget from the Note 2?
I would love to give it a try on the Note 3.
I tried many many a time to push the apps to system/apps also giving r/w rights to root explorer and then restarted. Widget is not in my widgets tab. Now I lost the Accuweather widget completely. I am rooted btw.
