[Q] Need Urgent Help... - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a htc desire hd,bootloader unlocked by htc dev.I was also using SVHD rom.I tried to flash rom which i have used earlier on the device which is cyanogenmod 10.1.But today it got stucked in the logo screen.i use the method of flashing boot.img file through cmd in fastboot.
When i tried to recover my nandroid backup, everything goes fine.but it didnt boot up.its just stuck on htc logo screen now...
My question is that , is there a limit of flashing boot.img file?I mean whenever i installed a new rom i used the method of flashing boot.img through cmd.
Is there a way of removing all boot.img files i hv pushed in my phone through cmd.In case if there is a limit...

Did you flash the correct boot.img associated with the Rom your flashing? (Each different roms boot.img is generally only for the Rom its from)
When you restored your backup, did you flash the backed up boot.img located in the backup folder on the sdcard?

Nandroid backups do not require to flash the boot.img in fastboot. Boot.img are not stored in the phone. Every time you flash a different one the other is overwritten. It is like replacing the rom...that is why full wipe is important.

Q, if your htcdev unlocked and if one restores a backup of a Rom say cm9 and the phone is currently using a sense Rom, shouldnt you have to manually restore the boot.img that's backup up to get it working with the restored rom?

[Q] Desire HD stuck at HTC logo

Hi there!
I have a DHD, but while rooting i had this problem. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed cwm recovery, but after flashing leedroid, the phone stucks at the HTC logo.
I need help. Is there a way to revert to a stock rom? I have tried official Ruu, but it says error 155, even in fastboot mode.
Or, can you suggest me a WORKING custom rom (with tutorial), because leedroid wont boot up.
That's not the problem of the rom u flashed, I guess u have flashed a corrupted file download the file again or may be its the problem with the hboot,
I have downloaded leedroid from the official site, i did a full wipe, flashed the rom and then patched it. And it stucks
Habe u checked the MD5 file?

haven't. What does it used for?
MD5s are used for verifying a correct download. When downloading, files can be corrupted. Every change in the file make it get another MD5.
You find the correct MD5s at the downloadlinks of most roms and check them by using tools like "MD5 Check". This tool is small and you can find it easily via google.
When I am trying to install the official ruu, it starts, but the I get a message, about error 140. I fogured out that it means i am trying to install an older ruu.
My device says I am on 3.13.0.0. My question is, where can i find this rom?
You wont be able to flash official rom without booting your phone. Try to flash any other custom rom first I hope it will boot if you have done all the root process successfully.
It gets stuck because you flashed the rom incorrectly. First you should have NOT unlocked your boot loader through HTC dev.the hack kit is the onlyway to go.
2) to flash a rom on a device that has been unlocked needs an extra step. Flashing the boot.img. so take the boot.img of what ever you want(this case leedroid). Place it in your fast boot folder. The run this command
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot reboot
You will have to do this for every from you flash, or you'll get stuck. 4ext recovery has a option to do this step for you and make it feel like the regular way flashing roms

One V Virgin Mobile help installing custom rom

Okay, so I'm a semi-noob. I used to have plenty on android phones but switched to the iPhone a year back. I'm back now!
So I rooted the phone on my Mac. All is well in that regard for the most part, but I can't seem to install a custom rom or use clockwork because there isn't a backup available. When I tried to install the customs rom(Modaco vanilla) it just gets stuck on the HTC white screen.
Can anyone help?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
There is no cdma custom rom available yet at the moment. All custom roms in dev section are for gsm one v.
That would explain it. Thanks. Hopefully soon!

one other thing... it I turn my phone back on it gets stuck on the white HTC logo. I have to plug it into to my computer and reflash the superboot image and then it'll reboot and turn on. Any idea why???
When you installed the MoDaCo's ROM, did you fastboot flash it's boot.img ? When you revert to your stock ROM, did you flash the boot.img for the stock ROM ?
The superboot img works to root the device only. Once you reboot, the system will read your last boot.img that you fastboot flash. If the your last fastboot boot.img is not the right one for your device, you will have this problem.
The superboot image was the last one I flashed. I guess this is where I'm lost. What is the recovery image I'm supposed to boot next? Is that the sprint/virgin CDMA recovery posted on the same page in the general section?
And what do I need to type in to terminal to do this.
Thanks for your help with all this. I appreciate it.

Based on something I've read online, I could move the img(if its the one i downloaded) from my SD card to /system/recovery.img is this correct?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
I'm not familiar with MAC.
But let me explain this:
fastboot boot boot.img (or boot.superboot.img for this case) -
The boot.img is not permanently installed in the device. You will lose it after reboot.
fastboot flash boot boot.img -
The boot.img is permanently installed in the device.
As the boot.superboot.img is for rooting purpose only, it is not advisable to flash that as a permanent boot.img
What you need now is to flash the stock boot.img. Download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28218226&postcount=11
Then use this command : fastboot flash boot boot.img
And here is the recovery.img for your device : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749798
Thanks a million! just flashed that boot.img and the phone is booting right up now. Next on my list is the recovery img, but i have to sleep.
Thanks again. You were a huge help.

[Q] Clockworkmod restore doesn't work

So on Friday I flashed the alpha build of Cyanogenmod 10 to my One X, which went fine and I made a backup of my stock rom before flashing. Now, today I wanted to go back to the stock HTC rom, so I choose restore in Clockworkmod, which also goes fine, then I boot up the phone and when it gets to the HTC One screen, it hangs there. The tune you get when it gets to that screen also cuts out in the middle each time. Does this mean that my backup is broken and that I'm basically SOL, or is there something else going on here?
As a final note, I've managed to flash back to Cyanogenmod 10 alpha,so I can still use my phone.

You have to flash stock boot.IMG using fastboot BEFORE booting your ROM.
Also remember to send
Fastboot erase cache
Right after flashing the boot IMG.

I know you can get the the stock boot.img out of the RUU files, but is there another way, since the only RUU file download I found is filefactory which is apocalyptically slow (3h+ for a 577MB file, where I only need the boot.img from)?
my version is 1.29.401.11 by the way.

not sure if I'm right but can you not open the backup in windows and extract the zip?

well, in the mean time, I found another solution: since android revolution HD uses the stock kernel, I downloaded it from there and flashed it via fastboot and it worked fine.
For future reference the boot.IMG is in your backup but cwm cannot flash it. Its in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/xxxxxxxx/
just Mount USB storage in cwm
Copy the boot IMG from folder to PC
Reboot to fastboot then flash it

During installation of ARHD Rom I suddenly got caught up in CWM Recovery mode. I have now tried to wipe system and everything and do a "restore" of my NANDROID backup without success. My question then is; how the hell can I push a ROM to my phone with the phone only in CWM Recovery??? I'm kind'a desparate!!!
Can also mention I'm on a Mac!
Hope someone has the answer!

Try restoring your nandroid backup, just remember to flash the boot.img

Did you flash recovery to the boot partition? (fastboot flash boot recovery.img)That could explain why it only boots to recovery. Try flashing recovery again (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.) then the boot.IMG (fastboot flash boot boot.IMG )then the Rom.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I've already tried that, I've even tried going to advanced restore -> boot -> restore boot without success..
BTW; I've now managed to push a new ROM onto my phone, installed it but still it won't but other than to recovery!!!
EDIT:

LATEST EDIT:
Seems like it did the trick rayford85.. Nice to see the bootanimation on my HOX again! Stupid step to forget (flashing the boot.img) LoL! Thank you rayford85!
Reusing this post to another dumb question... Everytime I reboot my phone it seems like the boot.img disappears because I have to ./fastboot-mac boot boot.img for every reboot of my phone!
Any good ideas of how to solve this?
It's flash boot.img not boot boot.img

You must flash the boot.img inside your nandroid backup if you are going to restore.

Yup, place the nandroid boot.img in a folder along with the fastboot files. When you are going to restore plug in your phone to your computer. Open CMD and navigate to your fastboot folder. Type adb reboot-bootloader to enter fastboot on your phone. Then type fastboot flash boot boot.img. After that you are good to restore your nandroid backup!

hi
thanks again buddy
im not new to flashing android custom roms i have done it on my other phones
like the SG3(I5801), HTC tattoo & my last phone Spice MI410(Ideos x6)
but the Bl**dy process on the HOX seems to be too confusing for me
may be ill get it soon:good::laugh:
Flashing a stock ROM is the same.process as flashing any other ROM.
The reason boot.img has to be done separately is because HTC haven't got round to fixing the bootloader to allow flashing the boot.img. When they do that (I though MoDaCo Paul was chasing them.at one point), then flashing ROMs will be one step process again.
