Need Optional kernel for jelly bean rom build 14 by beanstown - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

My battery life is a bit choppy on this jb rom build 14 by beanstown.Does anyone have any good choices for compatible and optional kernels for this rom
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

It just depends. You're just going to have to try out different compatible ones and make that assessment yourself.

I use the same rombut using deviant dev's Xone kernel (the one which OC's only up to 1.6ghz. Ive been getting 20+hrs of batt life.

Good Kernels For Stock Rooted

I just bought the SIII on Thursday and have been in the EVO line for awhile now and don't really know what devs to keep an eye on... I am looking for a good Kernel that will allow me to clock, volt and if possible w/ sbc! Any and all suggestions are welcome as I will probably try them all... Also are there any stable ROMS that I should take a look at as well?

Freegs3 that's honestly all you need no need for underclocking or anything with the cpu the rom is fast stable I haven't been found a bug yet it has a ton of support ton of people willing to answer your questions and you will get 13+hours of battery with a few minor adjustments

Freegs3 is that a Dev or the name of the Kernel?

Its the name of the ROM. Its by freeza. I consider freeza a dev to keep ur eye on.
As far as the kernel goes, if your on stock(or any touchwiz rom) your choices are limited but the best kernel for battery life is the stock kernel anyway.

Stock gives amazing results as far as battery I don't see the need to over clocking my phone I did when I had my g1 hero my touch etc but why for the gs3

Jamal717 - So, you like the Freegs3 ROM? I haven't tried it yet...I'm not a Sonic fan...I'm concerned Sonic pics would be themed within the ROM. (Are they?) Maybe I should give it a try, though. So far, I have flashed:
1. JellyBomb Domination, v7.0 (Decent)
2. JB Goodness, v4.0 (Fav so far)
3. Frankenstein KilLJoy, v1.0 (Current ROM...enjoying it)
I'm still new to rooting, so I am not even attempting the under/overclocking kernel piece yet.
Sent via the XDA App from my SGSIII running Frankenstein "KilLJoy" v1.0
So I get that Freegs3 is a good rom but what about for stock users?

I tried Freegs3 not bad although there still wasn't much on yhe the under/over clocking and voltage I really hope someone is working on a solid S3 Kernel besides me
SAMSUNG MOMENT CHECK
HTC HERO CHECK
HTC EVO CHECK
SAMSUNG GALAXY SIII PRICELESS
i'm on freegs3. i didn't want a themed rom full of tweaks and stuff that don't benefit me, that's why i went with his. it has auto update capability, and the few tweaks that are included you can choose to install or not during the install process. the only sega themed item is the boot animation, which you can change if you want very easily, he gives a list in the thread. check it out, it's definitely more stable than my stock rom was, it was crashing every 5 minutes. this is great.

Just matter of what works vest with our phone....lean kernel works best for me personally where as the others make my phone hot or drain it faster. Deviant works best for my friend whereean makes her phone hot....just try all the popular kernels for two full charges and see which gives better battery life.....and doesn't blow up your phone with the heat

agreed. i've found that lean or kor kernel works best for me.
:good:
Not sure why this was bumped but in case anyone is still following along, all kernels preform differently for all devices. Your best bet is to try them all. When I have a new device it may sound weird and all, I flash the kernel with the most thread views and try them in descending order. This way you are trying what appears to be giving most people the best results and if you don't like your results ,continue your venture.
For Touchwiz I prefer however kt747 simply because Team Kernelizer has some awesome files for undervolting. The other kernels are pretty swell too.

Problems with Cerux Kernel for Android 4.1.2

IM having problems with cerux kernel for 4.1.2 roms. My problem its after i installed the Kernel im getting a lot of drop calls. Calls doesnt even sound. I testted this kernel with Cyanogenmod 10 Stable and PACman Rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974280 and other few roms based on Android 4.1.2
Im using gapps-jb-20121011-signed. And im doing a Clean Install Rom. I wiped everything and i have lastest TWRP. My device its a SGH-T989
Link of the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121546
Thank you.
I am also new but it seems like its the Kernel's problem.
Maybe flash a new kernel ?

I believe so too, i even tested with and old version of cerux kernel with various clean install of AOSP Android 4.1.2 roms.
What kernel do you recommend for AOSP Android 4.1.2 ?
I even installed ASDK 1.0 All-Star 4.1.2 Final Fixer kernel posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111871 but the problem here its that various CPU Governor such as BADASS doesnt behave like its sopposed to. BADASS governor behaves like ONDEMAND governor.
BADASS goes all up to the MAX frequency of the CPU and that its not supposed to be like that. It is supposed to go to 972000 mhz.
The PACman rom that i installed from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974280 has BADASS governor but it also behaves like ONDEMAND,
The reason that I stick with Android 4.1.2 its because of the HDMI MHL,
With Android 4.2.2 HDMI MHL doest work yet.
I getting bad call quality on mine.. No drop calls.. Just bad call quality... Unless I wear a headset... Oh yea i can hear them perfectly tho
Running cerux kernel v1
With pacman rom 4.2.2

Cerux Kernel on AOKP Android 4.2.2 run perfect on my device, but i no longer with Android 4.2.2 because it doesnt support MHL HDMI.
So far Android 4.1.2 satisfied my needs . Well I now i have the Samsung Galaxy S3. So i guest im moving to the XDA-DEV SGH-T999 Forums.
By the way. My deep thanks and respects to all the dev out there. I flashed so many roms and kernels. it was very fun learning so many things in devices. I havent root it my Galaxy S3 yet. it been a couple of hours since o bought it.
Im not gonna give up on flashing stuff.
Here's an idea. Have you thought about not flashing another kernel? The one that comes with CM is a custom built kernel specifically for cm.
Yes it doesn't have a long list of governors. But it produces decent battery life without compromising stability.

And by the way PJcastaldo, Here's an idea. Have you thought about not flashing a custom room? Why dont you stick with stock rom that came witth original provider? :silly:
Anyways, I only wanted to try and run Cerux Kernel for Android 4.1.2 for my personal reason, After seeing the problem, I thought someone might be having the same issue, so we could help each other, because that's why this forum is about. Cerux Kernel for 4.1.2 would be the best kernel for Android 4.1.2 but it seems it still have serious issues.
Try the Tiberius kernels

Which kernel is the best for battery life

im currently running hyperdrive rs11
and jellybean 4.1.2
@hednik compiled this thread for the TW based ROMs: 4.1.X TW kernels
check it out and look them over for reviews and feedback
I used instigator x and faux when on it. Kernels really don't affect the battery as much as rogue wake locks and apps do.

embryo 6-11 or jedi mind trick JB 5
Do believe slim is also not aokp
There are some older TW roms running GB and ICS might wanna check those out. I dont know about battery life but I would believe a close to stock GB rom would get better battery then fully fledged TW UX jelly bean rom but thats just me. Id experiment a bit because im sure everyones battery status is different depending on the manufacturing quality or how the battery was used. Good luck! :good:
I always found tw ICS stock koodo was best battery for me. Mines always ****ty though, 14 hours max a day with only 1 hr screen usage

The best battery life ROM = ICS Touchwiz. May have a decrease in performance but honestly the best there is.

I'm using 4.2.2 rom from Team Carbon, and battery life is great. The bottom line, is I don't get any random wakelocks, which is HUGE for me.
