Stuck on boot screen

so, I've been using the miui xj rom for a while with no problems until last night. I had to reboot my phone and after that it just wouldn't start up anymore-it just stuck on the boot screen (the one with the joker-'why so serious' lol )
so what are my options? unfortunately, I don't have a backup, at least not a recent one. is there anyway to fix this problem or do I have to flash a ROM again? right now I can't get anything onto my phone's memory card cause I don't have the micro sd to sd adapter

so I went into recovery and selected 'wipe data/factory reset' but nothing happens...all I get is a black screen. does that mean I have to flash a new recovery image first?

yes..but before flashing a new rom, you should wipe data...and apparently I can't do that now I tried to select 'wipe cache' from the recovery menu and that also doesn't work...

alpharev recovery v2.5.1.8
whatever I choose from the recovery menu doesn't work- I tried wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, backup and restore, mounts and storage-I just get a black screen and nothing happens.
so I think I should flash a new recovery image... I found this:
#METHOD 1#
Method One uses Android Flasher to flash the recovery image.
[STEP1]- Poweroff. Hold the BACK button and the POWER button to boot into FASTBOOT mode.
[STEP2]- Download Android Flasher
[STEP3]- Download the recovery image of your choice. Put it in a place you can remember.
[STEP4]- Run android flasher, tick "Recovery", and press "Begin"
[STEP5]- Browse to where you downloaded the recovery image, select it, and press "open"
[STEP6]- Wait for the process to complete.
but it's not really clear what's to be done-does the phone need to be connected to the pc? where do I save android flasher? to the phones memory card? or to the pc?
Yeah download android flasher(pc) and run it, boot your phone into fastboot (back + power) plug in usb. Do u have a recovery img?

why would you want to wipe the cache ?..
volume up should take you to recovery, you could also unlock the phone and install cmr and the cmr su this will give you custom recovery and rooted phone.there are a couple of tools available for this if you dont like adb...
I'm not sure how you got your JB update, but if it was OTA, you have stock recovery, right? So you'll need to install CWM. You can try a:
fastboot erase cache
from fastboot mode.
i got the update from ota. i need to wipe because since the update i have a problem with the calendar app. every time I try to add people in setting a new meeting the app crashes.I assumed that it is related to cleanliness of the remains memory pre-update.and the volume up doesn't work and the phone goes into boot loop.
So have you installed CWM or done fastboot erase cache?

[Q] Galaxy S3 stuck in CyanogenMod boot screen

Hello, I made a very foolish decision today. I just recently rooted my phone (i747), and i am still not familiar with roms or flashing or any of that. I installed the Rom Manage app by clockworkmod onto my phone. I did no other preperation other than creating a backup through that app on my phone. Then using that app, i downloaded the CyanogenMod 10.1, directly onto my phone. It then gave me the option to wipe data which i chose not to do. It then started the installation of the rom. Everything started off okay and it looked like it installed. When it rebooted it got stuck on the CyanogenMod circle boot and no matter what i try i cannot fix it.
I cannot stress this enough. I am very new to this stuff and am not exactly sure how everything works. It is my mistake and i understand it was the outcome of my stupidity. However, all I am trying to do is fix my phone. When i try to boot into recovery mode (power, home, and up vol) it just restarts still in the boot logo. Whenever i press power, home, and volume down it says "booting a custom rom can harm your device are you sure?" but whether i choose yes or no it is still stuck.
Sorry about all the text, but can somebody please explain to me in the most noob friendly way possible how i can just get my phone in working condition? Thanks for your time
Try booting into recovery this way, in this button pressing order: Vol up + home + power. When your phone vibrates and you see the blue text in the top left corner of the screen, release just the power button.
If this gets you into recovery, you can wipe data, cache and dalvik (under advanced) to see if this clears your issue.
For future reference, don't flash ROMs in rom manager. Only use that app to update or install recovery.
Thanks, that got me into recovery mode. I wiped the dalvic cache, and did a factory reset, but I am still stuck in the boot

I would suggest to download the CM10 ROM from their thread, and copy it to an external sd card. You can reflash it from the sd card in the recovery menu.
ya, now that you know how to successfully get into recovery, i would flash a rom and gapps again via that route. check out the link in my signature. its got some stuff to look over for a safe and smooth backup & installation
Thanks!

maybe you tried to make an advanced data wipe and selected internal storage, dalvic, cache, etc.
what you need to do is put the phone in recovery mode again, select install and then scroll down to find the OS zip that was broke when wiping, after flashing be sucessful reboot system. then turn off the phone again o get it in recovy once more, select install, scroll down but this time you must to install Gapps. to conclude you need to flash OS and Gapps again through recovery mode.
hope this help

problem is when i try install any rom, i going to recovery mode and everything is fine, when i try install from sd card in empty screen, any other options same cwm its show me only first menu nothing else

Pl rephrase your question.
Here is what I feel will work:
Change your recovery to a stable one
Go to fastboot menu, even on pc go to fastboot and type fastboot flash recovery itsnamehere.img
If it is successfully flashed, go to recovery mode.
Hope you have put a ROM(and gapps) on sd.
Wipe Dalvik, cache, data.
Then flash the ROM and gapps.
Reboot.

Do you have an sdcard? You could always sideload a Rom too if you have a computer available. Here's a link its for Sprint HTC one m8 but it'll work the same for other variants its not device specific.

The same problem as here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/soft-bricked-htc-one-m8-os-t2858680

To get in boot loader hold power and volume up until the screen goes off. Release them and quickly press and hold power and volume down until boot loader shows up. Then select recovery and press power. It should go into your custom recovery. You should download a Rom and put it on your sdcard then flash it through recovery.

thanks man its installing thanks alot if i have some problem i write here again thanks thanks thanks still instlling rom
In the future, there is normally no need to go into Advanced Wipemenu in TWRP. You will see on the main Wipe screen, it says the default wipe is data, cache and Dalvik is all that is usually needed. It says that for a reason!
If you do choose Advanced, double check before wiping, and only wipe if you know what the result is going to be! For instance, lots of folks wipe /system, than ask "why don't I have an OS now?"
No problem I'm glad I could help?

Setup not installed ? Please be clear. So, you got your lock screen, right ? And when you unlock it, nothing shows up ? At this, point, which rom did you flash ? Stock ? Custom ? Carrier Stock ? If its completely stock, try re-installing the rom again,by wiping the system partition in the twrp recovery. If the problem persists, try flashing a stock launcher like the S4 or S5, that are to be flashed from the recovery.

You flashed a 4.4.3 ROM base on a 4.4.2 firmware maybe ??
Restore your own stock ROM.
