[Q] Will a 64gb microsd work on Vanilla Rootbox? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

The threads on both dev forms are locked. I know its a stupid question.......
Will a 64gb micro sd extreme work on it?
If so, do i have to do anything special for it to read?

I think you need to format the sd card to fat32. If you do, you can use the sd card on any of the roms, I think.

CM9 nightly: Not picking up external SD

So I'm running the nightly and it won't read my sd card at all? Is this is a bug or is there a fix available?

Its still in development and its a known issue. Use astro file to read SD card

I actually fixed it lol I mounted the sd card in Recovery. Works great now. Might wanna share this and see if it works for other people

SD Cards

Will this work on my play? i have read that it accept 64gb
amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-64GB-Micro-SDXC-Ultra/dp/B007JTKM30/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1339888275&sr=8-5
If you format it to fat32 I believe, then it will. Correct me if I'm wrong

Yes it does. I have the same card. Must be formatted to fat32. Then it will work

Class 10 micro SD cards?

Would a class 4 Micro SD card perform better than a class 10 micro sd card on an android phone?
Also, i made a second partition with link2sd on my SD card. How would i transfer that over onto a new SD card?
Thanks

1 year ago, class 10 cards performed worse in random access (mostly used for apps and games), but apparently the newer class 10 cards perform just as well or even better than lower class cards. So I would suggest getting a SanDisk class 10 card, they are currently considered being one of the best.
Yeah, i ordered a class 10 high speed SanDisk SDXC card and was just wondering. Thanks for that answer though. Quite helpful. Just need an answer to the second question now

You should, many people won't notice your question somewhere in the bottom of an offtopic thread.
Yeah, but i didn't want to just make a thread for a little question. It's not that important.

Hey KindaUndisputed,
If you're interested in seeing which SD card will perform better for you, you should test it with CrystalDiskMark 3. It's really easy to use and you'll mostly be interested in looking at the small byte ranged 4K random read/write speeds. This is important for running ROMs from SD or games and things.
I've noticed that my SanDisk 32GB Class 4 and Samsung 32GB Class 10 are pretty similar, so it's kind of just the luck of it I guess. SanDisk is usually pretty reliable though.
Thanks for that response, will probably try that, I although I think I'll be sticking with the 64GB anyways as I need the extra storage.

Oh yeah absolutely. Just if you wanted to test the speeds of some other cards in comparison to the Mobile Ultra. I'd have to think that that 64GB card would have superior speeds in every category though.
Yeah, thanks again

All of this talk about class 10 cards having bad random access speeds was valid a year ago, not any more. Times change and with it so does technology. A decent class 10 card nowadays doesn't have these problems.

What class would I need for 64GB im thinking of getting one?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Any class would work really, 10 is the fastest I think although I'm not too sure and a class 4 or 6 should be ok as well

I will have a look, i can't seem to find any class 4 SD's at 64GB, only 6, 10 but i have had problems with a 32GB SD class 6 card before.
that's the UK as i'm from the united kingdom, it probably be worth going for a class 10? ultra or mobile ultra? is there any difference?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...ywords=64gb+micro+sd&rh=i:aps,k:64gb+micro+sd
I'm from the UK, that's the one (the first one) I bought, from Amazon as well. It's quite cheap really. I don't know about drastic changes in speed but I don't think there are many cheaper 64GB micro SD cards anyways?

Anyone know why my computer seems to hate my new SD card? Whatever I try to do with it, literally anything to do with the SD card, the computer slows down and nothing to do with the SD card works. I can't open it in my computer although it is there and I can't even use Minitool

microsd speed cap?

I have tested the read/write speeds using sd tools with 3 different sd cards: 4gb class 4 sandisk, 16gb class 10 samsung, and 32gb sandisk uhs1. It seems that each card doesnt exceed 4mb/s write and 8mb/s read speeds on my e4gt on calkulin gb rom 3.0. When these cards are tested on my pc, i experience the correct speed ratings.
Is there a cap that is on the e4gt that i need to modify? I played with the cache sizes 128 2048 3072 and 4096, very minimal changes and all tend to fall in the same speed ranges stated above.
I tried switching different kernels but still had no luck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Could it possibly be Calkulins GB 3.0 rom? I would hate to flash another rom just for trial and error if someone can confirm it's not the rom.
Running cm9 beta got 4mb/9mb. Card is an older 4gb sdhc sandisk

I have a 64GB card in my phone. It came formatted as exFAT. It would fine except that the recoveries can not access the card. If that was a problem for me I could reformat it as FAT32.
