Hey guys!!
I have searched and researched this problem but havent had any solution. I am just hoping anyone of yall can help me out. I am having random reboots on my sony xperia arc s and i have tried many different things
- flashed another rom
- flashed another kernel
- went to stock
- bought another battery
and still there is random reboot!!!
and so finally i decided to buy another phone and i am using another phone right now and I was playing with my sony xperia arc s phone and it did not reboot. as I realized there was no sim card and maybe that was the problem.....
so i inserted a sim card to the xperia arc s again and there it was it started to randomly reboot!!!
I think i found the problem so now I need to know how to fix it....
Can you guys point me to the right direction?
Thank you
Well, maybe your simcard is somehow broken? Did you accidently scratch it or bend or something?
If you have some other simcard lying around, try if your phones behave the same with that one. (Or ask a friend to shortly use their card). I the phones stop rebooting with other cards, go ask your provider for a new one.
I already tried several sim card and several rom and even tried stock rom but still as soon as i inserted the sim card a restarted the phone within a minute it started to random reboot.... but if i remove the sim card then it becomes normal no random reboot...
do you think baseband is the problem i really dont know i am desperate right now.
Is there any space between the sim and the battery? The sim might be pushing the battery down a bit, so it breaks the connection between battery and phone.
I had random reboots and solved it by pushing the battery up against the connectors with a piece of paper at the bottom of the battery.
put a peace of paper btwn your battery and device .. hit thanks of i helped

Hi, is there any ways to change sim without reboot on Desire HD.
I'm changing them very often, but restarts are so long.
Any suggestions?
Hot reboot or switch off boot animation and bootsound if they are seperate.
Gotta ask, are you rooted?

Hm.. good suggestions, but I'm recently returned to stock, because I don't have much time to update custom roms. Is there any tricks for stock?
Nope, phone shuts off after it detects a SIM removal.

I am told it can also fry your sim card to do this.
Nope, my SIM still works fine

For now it is. Removing and replacing SIMS while there is power being run to it and info being used not only has a chance of messing up your sim but it could also mess up your sim port, making it not read any sim card so be careful and you should always shut the device down before removing any cards from the device.

happened to me once. Had to get a new sim.
Reboot when SIM card inserted
Hi,
I am sorry, this is not really related to this problem, but I have a serious issue with my DHD concerning SIM card. Just yesterday I accidentally left my phone in my car when I went hiking. When I got back after few hours, the phone was really hot, I cooled it down a little bit and tried to turn it on. As soon as I entered my PIN code, phone rebooted. I though it might be because it was still too hot, so I let it sit for a while, then tried it again. Same thing happened. After few tries I found out, that this onle happens, with SIM card inserted and the phone reboots just as it finds reception. Phone works fine without SIM card inserted. I tried factory reset and re-installing currnet ROM. Is there anything I could do to fix this or I have to take the phone to shop.
Thanks for answers
I would try a new sim card before I tried a repair. Sim cards are actually kind of fragile.

I tried two different ones. The other one is definetely fine. It wasn't in a car, I used it in the same phone before and it is two weeks old, so I am afraid it is a phone issue.
Sounds like. Sorry to hear. Could be the sim port.

Sounds like that, hopefully they will be able to do something about it in the shop.
Im sure they can. The thing I never figured out on the DHD, was how to get it apart.

Yeah, hopefully it won't be too expensive. I just asked if someone had the same issue and they fixed through software co I could fix it ASAP. I am on vacation right now, so having no phone is pretty nice, but there are still some situations where you need one. Thanks for tips anyway:good:
Hello. I'm new to this forum and I hope s.o. can help me. I bought xperia S but it seems that it has an issue with the sim card. The phone is not locked to any operator, it works fine most of the time but the problem is that sometimes the phone says SIM card is removed or no sim card, so I have to restart it. Sometimes I have to reboot ~10 times to get it work. When it says sim card is discarded, and I really discard it, it says SIM card removed, restarting.. and vs when sim is plugged while phone is turned on. It seems that the phone itself knows when there's a sim card inside. The sim card is working fine, tried it in another phone, everything went fine. Usually this problem happens when the phone gets hot (while playing games or capturing video, etc..). I don't think it's because of the sim slot but who knows.. Tried phone repairing and updated with latest firmware, but no success. The phone is not rooted. It seems to be a hardware problem, any suggestions?
Sending it for repair may be your final option.
Sent from my XperiaS via transwarp conduit.
Yes, I know that but it will take about a month to fix it and I am not sure if they can fix it either.. It's a second hand phone, maybe the first owner tried to root it or did something wrong while updating or sth? Because it's not logical to work excellent and undetect the SIM when I start more applications and the phone gets hot. How can I reflash it to stock ROM so if there's anything wrong in the file system to be fixed? Someone here had exactly the same issue but my sim card is brand new, 2 weeks old and working fine in other phones. EEK!
Take it back to the shop you bought it from and ask for a replacement?

I have the same problem. For me it helps, I use only the back button and than it`s ok for me.
Oh! Me too.
I think there have a problem in SIM card. But now i know that all of the people cause this problem. So this may be because of Handset. How can i Repair ??
How did it go?
I have the exact same problem, and seems a lot of people are getting it on new sony phones. I have an xperia S too. Did you found a solution? Thanks,

If someone knows what is problem, and what i sholud to do, please tell me.
Sorry for my bad english, im from Croatia.
Pozdrav Balkancima
anyone ? :/
You should probably return it totally to stock to be sure it's not hardware.
Also try it with another micro sim.
Do this command and post result here:
fastboot getvar version-main

Yes as suggested return to stock to count out software bug.
I think I am developing the sane fault as you but not as bad.
Maybe 2-3times a week my reception just disappears. After rebooting it shows no sim card.
If I take the sim out and put it back in. Sometimes still no sim
Sometimes it works
Most reliable thing is taking the sim out.
Squeezing top right of the phone for a minute
Then putting sim back in.
This seems to always work for me.
Looks like a flex problem breaking a connection to me

Thank you guys, il will try return it to stock.
I'll let you know how did it go.
Hello,
Yesterday i got this little beast (c1905) and i have a strange problem that i believe it is hardware related.
When i touch the area of the sim card either with the cover on or off the phone tells "Sim card removed. Restarting." and it is rebooting. The sim card fits well and by observing the area i can't see any fault. It is a little annoying when i use the phone in horizontal mode where sometimes unconsciously i put some pressure in that area.
Is this a known issue or mine is problematic? Anyone faced anything similar?
Any idea how i can solve this?
If i don't find anything that can help me i guess i will have to go back to the store and ask them to fix it or replace it...
Rather than that i really like the phone.
P.S. My sim card is new, i had the normal sim so with the phone i replaced my sim card as well.
I am having the same problem.
i thought because i rooted my device that is why it happened..

Hi, I installed the 8/20 CM 13 release on my S4 using CWM and it will (about 2-3 times a day) not recognize my sim card and tell me to restart. When it does recognize it, everything works well. To get it to recognize it again, I have to power off, pull the sim, power on, then power off again, and restart with the sim in. I searched and read that changing the modem/radio (modem.bin) drivers will usually fix it. Can someone please point me to the correct drivers and install instructions?
Does the phone do the same thing when running the latest stock ROM? If it does, there could be a problem with the sim card reader.

No, it doesn't. I thought it was the reader first and replaced it anyway.
This tells me it's a software perform. The phone is running the latest bootloader and modem?

No. That's what I need to know how to update. I loaded CM 13 and that's it. I didn't change the bootloader or modem. Honestly I don't know what a bootloader is.
I have baseband version M919UVUFOK3
If you flashed the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com, the phone would have the latest bootloader and modem installed.
A bootloader is similar to the BIOS of a desktop or laptop computer.

So was i supposed to flash the latest stock rom before installing a custom ROM?
I suggested flashing the latest stock ROM because that is the easiest way to ensure the phone's modem and bootloader are up to date and should be done just before you start flashing custom ROMs. It doesn't have to be done every time you want to flash a custom ROM.
Same here..

Apparently this is a common hardware issue with S4, something to do with the battery fluctuating voltage to the sim card reader, I recently found out from a repair shop, whose only solution was to downgrade to stock. Heck no, I got Nouget and ain't turning back! Mine doesn't ever have an issue while it is charging. I flashed over a dozen different roms, tried using a few different modems (even stock), read somewhere that you can press a thin cardboard against the back of the sim card against the holder, that didn't work, tried to blow air into the holder, didn't work either, used different bootloaders, nope, preyed to god that I would not miss a call while I slept, nada, don't rely on wake up calls! Tried a new battery, that might have worked for abt a week.. but the dreaded "SIm card removed" message returned!! So I had some drinks and it got some too.. and I watched it get thrown at me and skip off a table, felt it burn up in the summers, in my pocket on many occasions, this phone has been through many adventures in the past couple years and still works great, never even cracked the screen! < knock on wood > This phone can take a beating, compared to many other phones I've had. Other than the fact the reception isn't amazing, I really love my S4 model 919, its fast, compact enough, great display, good bat life, but like every phone it has it flaws. I'm sure that they wouldn't purposely f with their phones so once its modded it gives you an annoying random bug that would make you want to buy a newer S.
The question is how long you can endure the pain of rebooting every few hours, so why not upgrade??
Samsung want you to UPGRADE TO NEW IMPROVED S5,S6,S7,S80..!!
UPGRADE OR NEVER LEAVE AC OUTLET!!! hahaha
.. Personally, I probably will buy a S7 soon as it drops price ( I have a really active life) but for now I just deal with it.
>>> I'm more worried about when someone is gonna fix the video camera for Nouget !! Big up to ResurrectionRemix and XDA!! <<<
ps.. I don't ever remove the sim card, just a full reboot is all mine needs. GL

Same issue here..
Just a thing I observe. When my sim card shows is disconnected or sometimes after reboot is even showing that my sim card is not inserted, I cannot turn on my mobile data and the sim card app is missing from app drawer and from application manager.
I really don't know if its a software or hardware issue.
Sometimes I get this error randomly, even when my phone is standing still on a table and I don't use it.
Thanks for the replies. So, I got a new SIM card and it seems to be working much better than before. My old SIM had a huge scratch on it, so I suspect part of the issue might have been that. I've also kept it in balanced power mode, and I noticed it happens more in battery saving mode. I've also been trying to keep it plugged in as much as possible, and I have extra charged batteries I swap in. It will also start working after a reboot and I don't have to pull the battery and card like I described before. I still haven't tried to change the boot loader or modem.
Edit: I'm also having an issue with not being able to download MMS unless I'm on WiFi
Are the apn settings correctly entered?

This is a known issue (not CM related); contact your carrier for a replacement.

Just an update: I'm still having this issue, but have just been living with it and trying to keep the phone charged. It seems to happen less on WiFi and when I'm actively using cellular data. Some apps seem to make it worse. I'm probably going to try a different release.
