Very helpful forum feature that GS3 users can benefit from.
I found it by accident while reading through a few rom threads and it's AMAZING. Just highlight some text or a phrase in any post, and a tiny magnifying glass appears just above the highlighted text. Click on that for a contextual search. Hope this helps some of you as much as it's helped me.
I've never seen this feature in any other forum, so way to go XDA!

I think he is referring to a new feature in the recent leak, therefore it would never work on any computer that is not also a galaxy s3
Edit: whoops, I misread - I thought you were replying to the OP, instead of responding to the guy who did reply to the OP, lol
But if you do ever need to highlight text in the app, just quote the post you need, highlight the text, and discard the past when you're done

I had a GPS app way back on my hero that I would love to have again. I can't remember what it's called though and Ive searched for it for quite some time using all kinds of key words here and on Google.
Anyway. The app allows you to look up the street through the camera on your phone and it will show the locations of restaurants, gas stations, pool halls, whatever. All on the screen. Does anyone know what it is called if it even exists anymore?
I hope I put this question in the proper place. If not, please move it to the right place. Thanks for the help guys.
I believe it's called wikitude world browser. Hope I helped.

Would it be possible to enable the Quick Reply box by default? Having to click on Quick Reply to use the Quick Reply box is kind of like trying to jailbreak an iPhone.
Just wondering. I know it can be done as this is the only forum that has it this way. Thanks.
Maybe it is there to somewhat prevent spam.

^That, plus using the quick reply to reply to a single post AND quote it (like I've done here) is more convenient than hitting 'quote' then being taken to a separate page to view the post. I guess though that if it were always enabled, and you had the ability to just hit it to quote someone else, that would work.
Most of the forums has "quick reply" but to get subscribes, smilies, post icons, title and some additional options will not be found in
'quick reply.."

I don't know if this is a problem with the xda app or not. But when I reply to a post or even create one I am not being automatically subscribed to it.
Could a mod or admin of some sorts check out my account. Or have I done something incorrectly.
Thanks guys.

I +1 the op...
Even if I reply to posts on the site, I don't get auto-subscribed...
I have to manually subscribe each post from the app...
And I checked the options yesterday...everything seems to be in place...
(Even I was about to make a thread )
Typed using a small touchscreen
If you set the default subscription setting under Edit Options to something other than Do Not Subscribe then autosubscribe during reply or new thread creation should work.

That's the weird part...
After I had setup weekly notifs, I hadn't touched it since...
But from the last week, all of a sudden, I don't get auto-subscribed...
When I (re)checked the option, it still is set to weekly notifs...I toggled it to "no notifs" and back again, but still no solution...

Same here as OP. About a week ago, auto subscriptions stopped working. All of my settings are normal, and unchanged. I have it set to subscribe with no email.

Thanks. Glad I'm not alone here. Nothing has been changed in settings from me.
Maybe it has something to do with the new XDA 2013 theme?

That was my initial suspicion and the first thing our server guru asked about.
The issue has been raised and if he gets to the bottom of it I'm sure he'll pop his head in here and let us know.

Just wanted to confirm, this is just on the XDA app since the update? I tested via web and the notifications seem to be working normally.

I'm assuming this is related to app development?
I think you'd get a better response in the general Q&A forum mate.

This happens on my account, ever since I got it (which was a few weeks ago). It does not auto-subscribe to threads I reply to nor to threads I create; and, yes, in the options, it is set to "weekly notifications."
And, when I do subscribe to threads, it does not respect my notification type (instant, daily, weekly). I have it set to weekly, but my Gmail account is getting spammed every day dozens of times (popular thread, haha).
~Ibrahim~
I gave up on it for now and I just use the XDA app with Latest, Participated to see every thread I have been on. I don't have any threads where I just read and never replied once so I don't miss anything this way.

Oh, that's nifty; I hadn't seen that on the app! Thanks!
--UPDATE--
Well, I think it's actually working now. I'm subscribed to this thread and a new one I just made, without doing it manually. Oh, and I realized why it wasn't respecting the notifications: just setting it to "Weekly" in options only do so for new threads, not old ones. Now I changed them all to weekly, *fingers crossed*!

Will post APK since it's public so shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah I'm finding the swiping doesn't work in calendar boxes either.
Ehhh.. I've been using Keymonk Free for months now. Has two finger swype'ing which makes texting even faster, and pretty good prediction as well.
Free version though doesn't allow you to add to dictionary :\
Can't wait to try this! I can't get the language file to download though. :banghead:

I believe they did this on purpose which I really like. A lot of things you enter in those type of boxes are normally not normal, ex: dotson817
I remember swype when I'd try to type a username too fast it'd think I was swyping and it would get it wrong. Just a thought

To all the people pointing out that flow doesn't work in Google Search (or similar areas) and claim it's okay, let me remind you that with the 4.2 keyboard, swiping is available everywhere, even where predictions aren't. Just because some searches are not standard (e.g. dotson817), the vast majority of my searches are with English words.
Either the API for swiping anywhere is locked, or SwiftKey dropped the ball. Seeing as to how long this beta took to drop, I'm guessing the latter.

I like your Apple style thinking, it's not broke it's a feature
Not working in form fields is one thing. But it doesn't work in comment boxes too, so replying to online forums is a pain.

gesture typing works for me in comment boxes, i just tried on a facebook comment box withing dolphin browser.
My problem with this beta is that it appears to be draining a lot of battery. It doesn't help that Flow is full of bugs (you simply cannot write the words "its" or "it's").
