Would it be possible to enable the Quick Reply box by default? Having to click on Quick Reply to use the Quick Reply box is kind of like trying to jailbreak an iPhone.
Just wondering. I know it can be done as this is the only forum that has it this way. Thanks.
Maybe it is there to somewhat prevent spam.

^That, plus using the quick reply to reply to a single post AND quote it (like I've done here) is more convenient than hitting 'quote' then being taken to a separate page to view the post. I guess though that if it were always enabled, and you had the ability to just hit it to quote someone else, that would work.
Most of the forums has "quick reply" but to get subscribes, smilies, post icons, title and some additional options will not be found in
'quick reply.."

hi XDA admin
every time, i have to remember the location of my posts in order to check who replied me . it would be nice to see all my replies and posts in one certain column under the account.
so i strongly suggest this feature and hope XDA becomes more popular and help more people like me .
yeah i have the same thought as you. hope admin will see the post and have some acts.
Use the xda app. It has the participated section that does basicly the same. But yes, I agree, the website could really use that feature as well.

it is a good ideea
If I understand you right you can do this:
Goto : http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editoptions
Scroll down to : "Default Thread Subscription Mode"
Change the value to "No email notification".
Now when ever you reply to a thread, you subscribe to it.
You can see all your subscribed threads in the User CP.

+1 the app is quick and highly organized
I don't know if this is a problem with the xda app or not. But when I reply to a post or even create one I am not being automatically subscribed to it.
Could a mod or admin of some sorts check out my account. Or have I done something incorrectly.
Thanks guys.

I +1 the op...
Even if I reply to posts on the site, I don't get auto-subscribed...
I have to manually subscribe each post from the app...
And I checked the options yesterday...everything seems to be in place...
(Even I was about to make a thread )
Typed using a small touchscreen
If you set the default subscription setting under Edit Options to something other than Do Not Subscribe then autosubscribe during reply or new thread creation should work.

That's the weird part...
After I had setup weekly notifs, I hadn't touched it since...
But from the last week, all of a sudden, I don't get auto-subscribed...
When I (re)checked the option, it still is set to weekly notifs...I toggled it to "no notifs" and back again, but still no solution...

Same here as OP. About a week ago, auto subscriptions stopped working. All of my settings are normal, and unchanged. I have it set to subscribe with no email.

Thanks. Glad I'm not alone here. Nothing has been changed in settings from me.
Maybe it has something to do with the new XDA 2013 theme?

That was my initial suspicion and the first thing our server guru asked about.
The issue has been raised and if he gets to the bottom of it I'm sure he'll pop his head in here and let us know.

I'm assuming this is related to app development?
I think you'd get a better response in the general Q&A forum mate.

I was just about to post a new thread about this. Subscribed threads have always worked for me. I never use the website, always the app. Since like last week, it stopped subscribing me. Someone, fix this!

This happens on my account, ever since I got it (which was a few weeks ago). It does not auto-subscribe to threads I reply to nor to threads I create; and, yes, in the options, it is set to "weekly notifications."
And, when I do subscribe to threads, it does not respect my notification type (instant, daily, weekly). I have it set to weekly, but my Gmail account is getting spammed every day dozens of times (popular thread, haha).
~Ibrahim~
I gave up on it for now and I just use the XDA app with Latest, Participated to see every thread I have been on. I don't have any threads where I just read and never replied once so I don't miss anything this way.

Oh, that's nifty; I hadn't seen that on the app! Thanks!
--UPDATE--
Well, I think it's actually working now. I'm subscribed to this thread and a new one I just made, without doing it manually. Oh, and I realized why it wasn't respecting the notifications: just setting it to "Weekly" in options only do so for new threads, not old ones. Now I changed them all to weekly, *fingers crossed*!
I've tried to subscribe to several different threads recently and get the following message:
Sorry! This forum is not accepting new posts
Any idea why?

The good-ol' fashioned way, ie, through my browser?
Or is there a way to do that from the XDA site, such that when I log in all my reference threads are in one place?

I was able to subscribe to a closed thread just now by clicking on the Subscribe to Thread link on the top of the page. I am using the XDA2013 theme.
I've started subscribing to threads I actively use instead of flicking through participated section instead. This is where a problem has arisen.
I don't want notifications from these topics cause my phone won't shut up otherwise, so I set them to receive no notifs yet I have them come through instantly anyway. It happens the same on both my S2 and my Xperia S, so that leads me to believe that it's a problem with the app. Anyone know if there's a way to sort it out so I don't get notifs from them?

Very helpful forum feature that GS3 users can benefit from.
I found it by accident while reading through a few rom threads and it's AMAZING. Just highlight some text or a phrase in any post, and a tiny magnifying glass appears just above the highlighted text. Click on that for a contextual search. Hope this helps some of you as much as it's helped me.
I've never seen this feature in any other forum, so way to go XDA!

I think he is referring to a new feature in the recent leak, therefore it would never work on any computer that is not also a galaxy s3
Edit: whoops, I misread - I thought you were replying to the OP, instead of responding to the guy who did reply to the OP, lol
But if you do ever need to highlight text in the app, just quote the post you need, highlight the text, and discard the past when you're done

Hey what's up guys!
I have put together this app for those movie goers out there who don't like to be disturbed while watching a movie.
It's still in a beginning stage but works as I intended it to be for now.
The works:
This app is called "Movie Mode"
It's an app that works as a toggle. It has no user interface, You just put the icon on your home screen or wherever is easy for you to access.
Once clicked once it will activate and send your phone into vibrate mode, ignore all calls, and send the caller a text message simply saying:
"I'm watching a movie, I'll call you back after".
Then, after your movie is finished, you click the icon once more and it turns your sound back on and accepts calls again.
And that's it!
And if you have a Gear 2 smart watch you can add it through the launchgear app and be able to toggle from your smart watch.
If you enable notifications for the app you will recieve a quick notification on the watch saying either "Movie Mode ON" or "Movie Mode OFF"
Feel free to try it out and let me know what you all think about it! ?
Thank You

INSTALL: Just install like any other app. Make sure unknown sources is checked in your settings.

Changelog:
1.1 - Fixed some minor bugs, and added a permanent notification (when active) in status bar with disable button for quick access.
1.0 - initial release
........................................................
Other modes:
Meeting Mode
(works just like the "Movie Mode" it just changes "I'm watching a movie" to "I'm in a meeting"
This is a really cool idea. It would be awesome if you could make a "I'm in a meeting" version for those of us that would like what we are really doing to be on the downlow or even really in a meeting.

That is actually what I had in mind for a future update. Once I get the user interface all figured out, that's an idea I had to have custom modes for the user to enter their own text.
But for now it's just a toggle

Sorry I had a little mix up while updating both apps. All fixed and OP updated
Also, about the quick setting. I don't think that would be possible because not everybody runs the same rom. So in order for it to be in the quick settings, the rom dev of whatever rom you're running would have to put it in so everybody has it.
