Hey guys, I am having issues with my phone and the charging port.
So I was planning on getting a replacement model with the warranty I pay monthly for.
I want to know if I should flash my phone back to stock before sending it back to Sprint.
I will get the replacement before sending the old on back but don't want to be charged $400 (whatever the price may be for new model).
Will Sprint charge me or do anything if they find out I "voided" my warranty and have a custom rom/kernal etc... on it?
If need be, I will flash it back to ICS Stock just in case but just wanted to get others opinions on this.
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Yes, restore it to stock and be sure to format the internal sd memory before you do so you will not leave any personal info on it.

Ok Thanks. I will do that.
So has anyone sent phone back without stocking it? What will Sprint do?
I never sent mine to Sprint because I had "water damage" so the technical claimed... I sent mine to Samsung when it was a complete brick and because there was a delay on parts they sent me a BNIB phone.

According to Sprint, if you send them a rooted phone (and they will notice it's rooted) they will send it back to you unfixed and they "might" terminate your insurance/warranty. I asked the sprint sales rep when I got my E4GT almost a year ago, and that was his response. You're definitely going to need to flash a stock non-rooted ROM back to the phone. Now this is just personal opinion, but I'd suggest sticking the GB27 ROM on it because it's the latest thing.
Before you flash it, go into settings and go to storage and format the internal storage. This will wipe any personal information from the device.
Now use this ROM: SPH-D710_GB27_1014481_Stock_Restore.exe and you can find it from here:
http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=166. It is MIRROR 1. This ROM will almost completely wipe the phone (small things like screen timeout settings and the likes will persist even after a full format for some reason).
Once you've flashed the new ROM to it, you should be all set to send it into Sprint. They won't even know you've had it rooted at any point in time.
Hope this helps, cheers!

If I'm not mistaken, binary count will still be there even after you flash back. You'll have to run a program like triangle away to take your count to zero before you flash back to unrooted stock or they will still know!

Hey guys, I am in desperate need of some help. I had to have my SG2 replaced because of a bad headphone jack and need to send the old phone in, as always I waited till the last day to try and get the phone back to stock and am running into problems. I have tried to download every ODIN file there is but it seems that none of the file work, I have been on here as well as searching u have google and cant get a "stock" rom that will work. If you have a stock rom that I can ODIN my phone back to stock I would appreciate it if you would send it to me. Getting really pissed at all the dead links and bs files people have posted, I just need to GO BACK TO STOCK..............Thanks for any help you can offer
It doesn't matter as they won't check. They'll send it in to get refurbished and that will wipe it. Trust me on my third sgs2, and the ones I sent in had a custom ROM on them. Never heard anything about it.
Not to sound like and ass but this is not the forum for these requests, general is usually the place.

You need to be stock to use kies, that's his whole issue, he needs to go back to stock, not upgrade from GB to ICS.

Ok so long story short my S3 is hard bricked. This was my first try at doing my own root and rom install. Im not sure where I messed up at.
1. I got a toolkit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1746682
2. Backed up all system files with the toolkit, and saved pics to my computer.
3. downloaded oden and clockworks restore (cant remember the name)
4. did factory reset
5. cleared cache
6. then installed the S3 rom I got from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1663656
I followed all the instructions as best I could and it still messed up. is there anything I can do to reset it back to default??
Nothing comes on. no lights, no screen, no sound. only thing I get is if I take out the battery and plug it up i get a led light for about 12 secs.

I know on my old Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) it was practically impossible to brick the phone completely. You could always access download mode to restore the ROM using ODIN.
How to enter download mode on Samsung Galaxy S3
Volume down ,home, and power until the warning.
http://youtu.be/0BJlfbZNB-I
Please note I have no experience flashing ROMs on the S3 as of yet. I plan to flash the new OTA update with root already injected tomorrow.
The first time I flashed a ROM using ODIN, it screwed up somehow and of course the phone didn't work. I was freaking at that point. Then I read about download mode and was able to flash the ROM successfully.
Your best option is jtag. I flashed an incorrect rom and had to replace the main board on my SGS3 as the jtag didn't work for me.
If you're in the USA this is the person to go to, they are linked everywhere on xda

In the rom thread I used where does it say that the phone was the international version? I called myself reading the thread before I tried anything.

It's from the international section, anything from the international section will brick our phones, they are completely different, they have 4 cores and 1gb ram, we have 2 cores and 2gb ram. The only roms that are safe to flash are the ones in the T-Mobile galaxy s3 section
You can give it all the drugs and sex you want but the only thing that will help it is a jtag

ok thankx alot. So from checking the net my options are to pay 60$ for a jtag, play dumb for t mobile and get it replaced since they wont be able to turn it on. or buy a new phone. Is there any cons to the t mobile rote? I mean what are the chances of it biting my in the rear?
Personally I would get it jtaged. Rather than have Tmobile take care of your mess up and passing the cost on to the rest of their consumers.

I'm getting off colored lines across my screen and I'm planning on going to the sprint store to ask for a replacement since I have TEP coverage.
Should I Odin back to stock even though this isn't a software problem? I'm on CM10 right now and my Odin binary counter is also at 1. I really want this exchange to go as smoothly as possible.

Yeah, I would. Smoothly as possible? Back up everything. Even internal sd. Download the un-rooted one-click for Fi27 stock. Run that. Then take it in. That way should ensure you don't have any problems.

I did a nandroid backup already and moved it on to my computer for now. Restoring a jelly bean back up on EL29 won't cause any problems will it?

Firstly thank you in advance to anyone who takes time out to help me fix this problem.
I have searched high and low for an answer both here and abroad but I have not been able to find anything that addresses non-stock recovery and yellow triangles.
I have an Epic 4G Touch running CM9 with CWM. A couple of days ago I noticed that my charge port was giving me issues and I had to place the connector in just the right way to get it to charge. Now it has become a large issue where it will barely charge.
TL;DR: I have insurance and need to figure out how to get back to stock everything, remove the yellow triangle (without USB jig) and make it look like the phone has had nothing but stock.
Thank you again!
That's cheating.

Depending on which modem they are running...
I'd suggest;
Use triangle away, flash an older official stock tar with mobile odin, (wont matter with current modem since they can be mixed since they're running cm9) then let the ota take it to official latest.
But I'm betting op has done something by now.

It does really work. But there are chances for it to brick if you lose power to the phone. Battery dies, if falls and battery falls out, power button issues. Other than that, it won't brick you. They also put that warning on there so someone can't blame the dev if they did something to f**k their phone up. Its a universal disclaimer thar tells people to be careful.

Flashing a stock will remove the triangle but not reset the binary counter.

After I updated my phone to 4.4.2 I lose service and have to restart my phone multiple times a day to get service back. I called T-Mobile and after resetting the phone they said they would replace it. Then I called Samsung and they said to bring it to best buy to have it reflashed. I can go there but I could also flash it via Odin at home. Now my question is, if I flash the stock rom via Odin will it trip the Knox counter? I read that it won't and I read that it can. I just want to make sure it won't before I flash it incase I have to have it repaired or replaced.

I've had SIM related issues before. Sometimes an older SIM card won't work correctly with a system update. With a new card problems disappear. Let's hope this is the case for you.
