GT-N7105T or GT-N7105 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.
Seen this around the threads but want to ask apart from being one more 3g band and 2 less 4g bands, what's the difference between the two? Everything else should be the same?
And the major thing is are all the n7105 roms going to go onto the T version no problems? That's one of my main concerns... Is there different partitions or something?
Thanks guys.

I have used several N7105 roms on my N7105T with no problems (currently using an AT&T note 2 rom on my Telstra note 2). From my understanding any N7105 rom will run okay. If you have network issues, just reflash the modem for your provider.

Thanks mate.
I'm with optus and I've bought this phone directly from Samsung. Straight up rom, no bloat of any kind. So I don't know if I should be using the non T version or what. But from what your saying then rom wise, I won't have any dramas, that's good news. I heard triangle didn't work before update because of a partition difference. That worries me a little.
But if you've been flashing N7105 roms and had no issues then that's awesome. Far as I'm aware it's just the bands that are different. The T has quad 2g, quad 3g and dual 4g as the non T version has quad 2g, tri 3g and quad 4g. Is that right?
Everything else apparently is exactly the same. Just needed some professional opinions Haha.
Thanks mate. Any more info would be much appreciated.
Thanks again.

I am not really sure about what bands are compatible with the n7105/T but I do know that all n7105 roms are compatible with any 4g version of the note 2. What I meant earlier about the modem is that if you use a n7105T, you should use an n7105T modem. If you use an AT&T note 2, use an At&T modem. If you use an international n7105, use that modem.
Not sure if that answers your question but hopefully it helps.

Thanks heaps again.
Yeah that does help heaps.
So basically, like a nexus, you just flash the right radio for your version of Android after you've flashed your rom and it's all good?
Yeah sorry, I've just been paranoid about bricking my device not flashing the "proper" model rom. But as far as I can gather it's exactly the same handset, just the radio would different, because of the bands. It's great to hear that you've flashed multiple N7105 roms and had absolutely no dramas. That means it's fine! Haha.

Yep that's it! Don't worry so much, it is very simple. Just make a nandroid backup before you do anything as a safety net

Thanks man.
Well, from this then, N7105 or N7105T, both the same with everything. No chance of bricking. I had another response saying he said it's a bit risky with the T model as it's different, that was one thing that made me second guess... And the triangle away partition error...

[Q]How to flash other S3 ROMs to the Tmobile S3

Hello, I was curious if you can flash ROMs from the S3's from other carriers besides T-Mobile and also flash ROMs from the international forums. I remeber back when i had my Vibrant all you would have to do is flash the correct boot.img and also replace the keylayout file. Is it as simple as flashing a tmobile boot.img since the keys are all the same? Thank you in advance.
don't do it.

There is a possibility of sharing ROMs with the AT&T model. If you go check out their forum, there are a couple of ROMs which people have successfully flashed on the T-Mobile model. Search the threads and flash at your own risk!

That is totally true. On the Hercules you could flash the skyrocket roms. But the T-Mobile ones are usually better. The att ones are really only better when att leaks first.
Don't do it was an oversimplification, however.
Just heard about too many people flashing the international roms.

Nope, the hardware internally is too different. I doubt there'll be an easy method to port the ROMs either.
The AT&T ROMs on the other hand should be fairly easy to port and I think there is a group working towards this goal.
You will lose your insurance.
Just to let you know, you will lose your phone's insurance, this is not the same as the 90 day warranty. I remember I had flashed my vibrant to a rom using the international model, about six months later I got a letter in the mail saying assurion would no longer insure my phone, because it wasn't the right model. I might have been able to add the text file that adds the correct model number, but I don't know if that really works or how to I it.

In this case they could have seen the flashing being done and the changing of the build.prop file. That would make the most sense to me.
You obviously haven't been reading...heck go for it.
You CAN NOT do other roms, as was stated, the hardware is different.
Not that hard to search. Do it and report back with results.

AT&T ROMs and even Sprint ROMs work just fine if you configure APN settings.

Risky is an i9300 rom because the SoC is 100% different. We all have the same SoC so it's not as big of a deal.

Hey,
How do you configure the apn settings? I'm on an att rom and love it, on wifi it is fine but when it says 4g away from wifi no luck with service. I can get edge, but that is it.

Ok I figured it out but I cant get the att apn to stick does the phone have to be unlocked?

International N7105 firmware confirmed working on i317!!!

For any of you who want to have your cake and eat it too, you can now flash the international N7105 firmware onto your AT&T branded i317!
What does this mean? It means that you can give AT&T the middle finger by having unlocked firmware with none of the restrictions and bloatware. By extension, this also means that you can benefit from the development going on for the international devices.
Finally, this also means that you can reap all those benefits without sacrificing LTE access in North America!
Now that this has been confirmed to work with the i317, I wonder if the T889 is next...

We tried flashing the international N7105 firmware onto the i317 using Odin, but that didn't work. However, the procedure seems to be working if, instead of using Odin, you flash a re-packaged stock N7105 firmware using a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP, just like flashing any other custom ROM. Once that's done, just flash the AT&T modem/kernel, and you're all set!
Unfortunately, there hasn't been much development for the N7105 yet. Root, CWM, deodexing and all the other basics are there, but that's all for the moment. Devs are still trying to work out N7100/N7105 inter-compatibility. N7100 firmware will flash to an N7105, but the modem won't work, so that's pretty useless, and that's what we're all trying to fix.
At least, in the mean time, you can enjoy a stock N7105 experience in North America without AT&T/Rogers sticking their fingers in the pie
Is the 7100 the non LTE version and 7105 LTE? If this allows us to get FM Radio on our North American Note 2s, I'm going to be very happy!

Very nice.
Upon thinking about it. I believe there is a way to use this method to give us international firmware and also retain our NA CSC's so we keep carrier specific settings such as Wi-Fi access, Fast dormancy and the like too.
Currently working on it and will get back to people once I am finished.
Glad to see someone else was working on this as it was something I wanted to get around to messing with but have been busy poking into Bootloaders and dialer codes.

Agreed however, no one knows for sure it isn't present in our devices and that Samsung just removed the driver at the request of the greedy NA companies. They don't want us listening to something for free when they can force us to connect and use data. Maybe the driver is in the 7105 firmware...

Did what Miscom had done and got the latest GT-I7105 Unbranded firmware release LJ5, with this one I injected the Canadian CSC's and everything seems to be working except a few carrier apps that check for the proper model number they would force close on me.
Going over this firmware, seems okay but doesn't seem to be any better then the stock LJ2 that came with the phone.
My main hope with using an international firmware would be unlocked dialer codes, and I was correct in my testing, any carrier locked dialer codes are controller within the firmware + check what CSC you have as well.
Got some working that I couldn't before hand, however the main one that I wanted to use was the *#7465625# to view network lock status, it was one that I couldn't get working, but I believe that it wasn't working because my phone is already a factory unlocked one so to really know for sure I'd half to have one that is known to be locked.
Anyways, glad this experiment worked, I will definitely be looking at this again in the future, however I know that the Samsung Canada is planning on releasing an updated firmware for the phone at the same time or soon after the Canadian S3's get their Jelly Bean updated, and it is also rumored that they will be 4.1.2 as well. So with this possibility I will be going back to Bell's Stock firmware and see what we get in a few weeks.

You bought the international version of the NOTE 2 meaning it is most likely SIM UNLOCKED.
I believe 7100 and 7105 should have different roms because 7100 is only 4G HSPA+ and 7105 is 4G LTE. I think they will have different drivers for the ROMS.
I am not an expert but Im sure different hardware will need different drivers leading to different roms. So I would download and install the ones for your phone.
I hope it helps, and good luck!
This phone is BEAST!!
Thanks. I plan on using the all-in-one 3.0 tool on it when it gets here.
If you need a quick list of 7100 and 7105 roms when you get the phone, this list should help you a little.

The radios and kernels are the only difference I see, data is also different, with the right kernel and or modem, yes they can work. So, I do not think you could use them, it may put the phone into a bootloop. At least that is what I am seeing with the i337 and the i337M
So are they any different hardware wise? If only difference between them were softwares then flashing same roms kernels and radios would make them identical right? Nobody owns a m919v?
