Hi there,
I am using Xperia Arc (LT15i - Rogers edition)
Current ROM: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_d8uWGbkaetcWIzcFJzdkVwUXc/edit?pli=1

Installed CWM 5.0 by RecoveryX
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773227
Bootloader: locked.
I was able to get into CWM to select JB ROM to install.
I've tried 2 different ROMs:
Racing Bean
SuperJB
However, when installing, the installation aborted and couldn't continue.
I cannot do anything with it.
Any solution you may suggest me?
Thank you very much.

I'm pretty sure you need an unlocked Bootloader for those ROMs

Oh yes, thanks for pointing it out.
But as I've tried unlocking by following this topic
Bootloader unlocking
I cannot do Step 9
I've flashed lots of HTC phones but non of Sony phones I can do by this way
What happens if you do step 9? Are you sure you are in the right folder? Are the drivers correctly installed?
Maybe the guide on FreeXperiaProject Homepage explains it a bit better (cant post link since I have less than 10 posts)
There are also some good youtube videos (for example the one in the thread you posted)

The only thing it says was "Waiting for device" and never went through.
Also, the LED didn't become "blue" It's just like regular chagring, no matter how hard I tried
So,
I guess if there is someone's nice enough to make FTF version by their phone then I can enjoy JB on my Arc lol
Are you sure you are holding the Menu Button when you plug in the usb cable?
In the past i was always pressing Home Button and was wondering why the LED isnt blue

Yes, Menu one is on the right.
I kept it for so long but it's not turning blue ><
You press the menu button before connecting your switched off phone to the cable...
Also, do you have drivers?

Don't forget that on Sony phones you have to flash ROM and kernel separately.
ROM in CWM and kernel in fastboot.
JB ROMs need custom kernels and to flash a custom kernel you need to unlock your bootloader.

Hey peeps - another annoying n00b question (sorry)
I have the Doom v3 kernel and stock 2.3.3
Just want to know how I can boot into recovery so I can install a ROM zip?
I have tried every combination of buttons on startup including Power then tapping and holding Back and I cant get into recovery mode.
Please help i really want to try the GingerStation rom
Turn device off. When off press the power button once, then start tapping any hardware button untill device boots into recovery. You can also try doomlords xCharge app from the market.
Sorry i havent been very active in the forums recently. I will be updating rom soon with some cool features and a new name

AFAIK you have to boot into recovery the standard way. Like the person above described. Once you do that CWM creates a directory in /cache called "recovery" then xCharge works fine
OmG it worked.. thanks alot guys!!

Are you rooted?
If not, do you know how to do that?
No, it's completely stock, I've read I have to flash a file in recovery, I've got it, but I don't know how to reboot in recovery with button combination.
To get cwm, root using doomlords easy toolkit, search development
Then install this app and click install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler
After you have installed that, boot on your phone, and when you see the sony ericsson screen, repeatedly tap volume down until you get into cwm
WOW! It's very easy this way, thanks a lot
Another quick question, now bootloader is unlocked?
Can I flash any custom roms like any other device? (flash in recovery mode)
Thanks again.
That way i showed is to install CWM with a LOCKED bootloader.
This will allow you to flash STOCK based roms, no others
This is not unlocking bootloader, just getting CWM
If you want to unlock your bootloader, you have to go to the sony website or pay to unlock it
Oh, so I can't flash CM roms, but I can with stock based, right?
I knew about Sony website, but I though there was other ways to have the bootloader unlocked.
Well, thank you a lot, now I have to find a good stock based rom.

And as the guy above told you, SEUS on unlocked bootloader is a bad thing.

Dude,
As the others have said you cannot install FXP CM10 on a device with a locked bootloader.
As such your device will not boot, your options are to either.
1) use flashtool to flash a stock rom - instuctions how to use flashtool can be found on the forum
2) use Sony update service to flash back to stock - This is the easier option, but all your data will be wiped.
Once the device will boot up, if you still want to use FXP roms then unlock the bootloader first, or try a rom for locked bootloaders.
Either of the above should work for you.

At least you show others, do not flash custom ROM if it's only for unlocked bootloader.
If you have locked bootloader you can't flash custom kernel and you will stuck in bootloop.

Hi guys, as the title said, I want to root my new Xperia Play R800a, and I am very lost right now. Ultimately, my goal is to install Xperia NXT 2r1. I think that since I have the r800a version, I am not able unlock the bootloader, so I am ok with not having a custom kernel.
But the problem is, I'm totally lost right now. Could anyone show me a guide or something to what I'm supposed to do to start? That's all I'm asking.
What I HAVE done is downloaded everything they asked for me to download in the post, and have installed flashtools, but whenever I try flashing the firmware 4.0.2 enhanced, I am not able to do so. It is just stuck on a screen where it tells me to go to fastboot mode, but I go to fastboot mode, and for some reason it isn't recognized. (I know it's fastboot because the power button is glowing blue.) I think a driver might be installed incorrectly, but I'm not sure how to install it correctly after.
I'm sorry if my post isn't that helpful, I'll add any more information if you guys want me too.
Thanks in advance.

I flashed Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.58 Enhanced, the one that they told me to flash in the guide.
I did notice however, that it said that it was for r800i. I just assumed it was universal. Is there a specific firmware I should be flashing for r800a?

Alright found out the problem. Apparently there are two versions of flashtool. One version doesn't work while the other does. I honestly don't know what the difference is. But for other people who might be facing the same problem, if your flashtool has only three icons, Flash, Root, and check for SU permissions I think (it looks like a key), then you have the wrong version. Your flashtool should have 7 icons.
Doesn't Matter

Oh yes, I found that out a bit later. The problem was lying in the flashtools I was using. Once I got the right flashtools, I reflashed the previous firmware rooted it, installed the rom, and it all worked perfectly.
I am not an expert in this area. I just wanted to get rid of bloatware from my Xperia Arc (2011 edition). So I followed the procedure given here
http : // talk.sonymobile com/thread/97327 (basically unlocked boot-loader, and flashed using another firmware to get root access).
The phone was working well for 2 months. One day I turned on Bluetooth and phone crashed. Now it starts and at the boot animation restarts. I gave it to service center but they said they will not repair because of some policy.
Please suggest a solution to this. (I have USB debugging enabled already on it).

I will check if this mobile has recovery installed into it. Where can I get stock firmware? Sorry I am really new to this stuff.
If you Google "xperia arc s 4.1.0.b.587 ftf" or something in Google you'll get results. The stock ROM is somewhere in the dev section too, use the search button, I'm on my new phone and search works weird here.
I assume since you unlocked BL you have drivers for your device.. In this case use flashtool, click on the lightning icon, navigate to your firmware file and connect phone in flash mode (menu + USB cable I think, I have not used my arc for some time but it should give you green LED if you done correctly), flashing will automatically start

Keep calm mate and you will sort it out.
use this thread for your stock ftf files and use the flashtool.
After that make sure you have got the correct kernel for the rom which you choose and always backup your system using recovery.
