That may be a stupid question, but
Is there any benifits in doing a factory reset (the one not in recovery) and reset sd card before installing a new rom?
Does everything that is in the "sdcard" folder has literally no impact on the rom you install
Thanks alot you great comunity !!
No at all.

Er...what new ROM are you referring to? Do let me know, because if there is one and I don't know about it, I'd love to give it a go.

I need it to.
I still got this firmware on my phone. Didn't do anything with it yet. So if anyone could tell me how to take this rom from my phone I could upload it...
PDA: I9000XXJF3
PHONE: I9000XXJF3
CSC:I9000XENJF1
My mate has also still this stock rom on his galaxy, but i dont know how to get the rom out of his phone.
At the moment it seems that there is no way to get back to the stock rom. I hope my phone won´t get an Hardware error cause there is no warranty atm with this "unofficial" rom

Hi
Do you still have the stock rom or you flashed already???
in case you still have it, can you back it up for me?? you can do that by using clockworkrecovery. its completely safe. You can download the attached zip file, rename it to update.zip and put it on the root of your phone internal memory, turn the phone off. then hold down the volume up+home button+on simultaneously. keep them pressed until you get into the recovery mode.
choose apply sdcard:update.zip and press home buttonv(you can change selection using vol up down)
that will start the recovery tool, using vol down navigate to the option (nandroid) and then click the power button once then chose the option (backup) and click power button once more. The phone will automatically start the backup procedure. after it finishes the backup choose the option (reboot system now)
The stock Rom backup will now be found in a folder in your internal memory in the following path(/sdcard/clockwormod/backup/2010-xx-xx.xx.xx.xx) the Xs replace the date and time. inside this folder you'll find 5 files. These files are your back up of the stock rom and you can share these with us.
incase you want to flash the backup back into your phone you can use the same procedure but this time choose restore rather than back up.
Ifyou managed to back it up please let me know as i was so stupid to flash a cooked rom thinking i can easily get the original rom.
Thx
What about the personal data ?
Is it that the personal data is included in the dumped rom? Do you only need the system file ?
Actually I 'd be anxious about my personal information.
I propose to sticky a thread dedicated to nandroid stock as well as rooted backups.
Does anyone want DDJF3?
I have a complete nandroid of DDJF3.

Well, regarding personal data i must say i have no idea, but as long as it is a 1:1 copy i assume everything is backed up. So if you are going to back up your ROM to share with others here is what you need to do before doing th backup:
1- delete your google account (as well as deleting your emails from mail application)
2- wipe your history and passwords from the internet browser
3- move the sms(s) to either sim or SD card (or internal memory)
4- move contacts to (internal memory or SD card) and delete them from the phone.
5- whatever is on the internal memory won't be backed up so no worries about it.
hope it helps
Ok, I managed to dump a clean i9000xxjf3 stock rom. First I did a backup of my system, then I reset my phone to stock rom settings, then dumped the rom.
I am glad restoring my original system worked perfectly.
Now, how can I provide this rom to the community ? Best upload way ? It's about 290 mb.
If you are still intetested, write back.
Cheers.
P.s. What a great backup/restore program.

Hi Mpayne. Thats great news buddy glad it worked for you. and indeed this tool is a life saver, no need to root or anything so in case you care about warranty this is a must.
i am still interested in the the dumped rom, i am not sure what is the best upload options i am guessing www.4shared.com will be nice (you can try to zip it first).
thx in advance

hi aditya,
i would love to have it.
does it include csc, modem, and code?
thanks
hello everyone this is my first time asking a question on here so forgive if i got this in the wrong section.
i was wondering if you all could tell me how to "uninstall" cyanogenmod 10 off my samsung epic, but without unrooting.
i like cyanogenmod but i have to get it off because i cant change phone lines within my account because in order to put service back on my phone sprint wants me to dial ##somenumbers# and a menu is suppose to pop up but it doesnt and i think i read somewhere around here that you dial those "codes" in the dialer because they wont work.
soo I followed qbkings method to root my phone. youtube title = how to root the samsung epic on FC09
then i installed cyanogenmod10 using his method again
I did this to two samsung epics since i have two samsung epics at my disposal and i would follow qbkings method of unrooting
but i tried that on of the epics but odin failed and it got completly bricked and I mean hard bricked. so i am extremly fearful of even attempting qbkings unrooting method since i completly bricked one of the epics trying to unroot it.
and i was thinking that since i followed qbkings method i just need to go to recovery mode after turning off the phone and then clear everything data and cache.
and then do the install zip from sd card and just install the deodexedFC09 zip file that i previously put on the card when i was rooting my phone.
and then that would be it but i am extremly fearful of messing with the phone like that because i really dont want to brick my phone so i come to you all today for your help on this because i am new to rooting and flashing roms on my phone so i didnt really know whereelse to ask.
Ive tried looking for help on the forums and the web but i did not find nothing so i just rather ask then ...
You can buy a jig for like $1-2 to jump the bricked one back in dl mode then flash full stock, as for the other, there is a boot from sdcard rom that will enable you to activate your phone without uninstalling cm10

Also, you can just flash a tw mtd rom to get those dialer codes woring... just flash TPR (the peoples rom) after backing up cm10... flash tpr, boot it, call sprint, do your thing, restore backup of cm10... all done...
alright ill try that but can you tell how to flash the peoples rom? or anyother rom for that matter.
i assume that i boot into recovery mode and clear everything and install from sdcard and look for the zip of the rom? im not sure if thats how to do it? if not can you explain to me how?

That's exactly right. Remember to wipe data in cwm. Use titanium backup to back up any 3rd party apps and data you need first.

Boot into recovery, go to backup and restore, press restore, press on the backup you just made (the name will be the date). And press restorre... once you boot into recovery, its pretty self-explanitory from there on out...
alright man thanks alot to all of yall who replied i really appreciated it. i will post back on here on the status of me with sprint and flashing cm10 back.
alright i tried to activate my phone online with sprint but it wouldnt work so i called customer service and phone is up and running with service.

I had this issue back when I had my original Evo. I just flashed it back to a stock rooted Sense ROM and it worked. If it is a stock TW ROM (The Peoples Rom is), then all Sprint codes will work.
I am using an HTC One V with stock ROM, and it has been about an year. I am using the original HTC sense ROM, now it feels like device is becoming really slow and unresponsive even making a call takes 5 minutes. I think reverting back to factory defaults might solve the problem. So, I want to know, how can I revert and delete all the apps and related files and perform complete clean fresh install. As we do when computer becomes slow..
More Details about the current situation of my phone-
Model : PrimoU (I guess..)
Rooted. (using SuperSu)
CWM installed.
P.S. - If there is an already existing thread related to my problem, please let me know of it.

Thanks for the reply, I think, you might not have noticed that, my device is unlocked an I am using TWRP bootloader. Will it work for factory reset?
Also, if you could suggest me a stable and fast custom ROM, that would be great.. I will give it a try...

Yes you can use cwm to flash the rom. I believe if u Check in the general thread there are modded recoveries for the newer gs3s as sprint or Samsung has locked em down some what. Once you have ur recovery installed make a backup . Then I would do the normal routine anytime flashing a new rom and that is wipe ur cache, delvic cache, and factory reset...maybe even do them three times just to be sure it's all clear. Once done flash ur rom zip and enjoy!
Edit...Make sure to read the op of ur rom and follow any additional directions that the dev has laid out...
Also you will be told that questions go in the q&a section of the forum. ..and it will be moved...Just fyi
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Also read the OP of TPR and the second post if you would like to alter any of the theming Kenny does.
Have a great day!

If you are having trouble getting the SD Card to mount in Recovery. Then you will need one of the modified Recoveries as mentioned. The link to the Modified Recoveries is below. After you have loaded the Recovery, and Rooted. In addition to making a Nandroid. I would suggest doing a Full Wipe before flashing. Meaning : System - Data - Dalvik Cache - Cache - Factory Reset. I also recommend wiping the Internal SD. Which I always do. But you can opt not to. Another thing I would highly recommend is verifying the MD5 checksum before flashing. That way you are assured that you have a good download. Anything else just post up on the Room thread. The people are always here to help .
