[Q] How to reset a rooted HTC One V? - HTC One V

I am using an HTC One V with stock ROM, and it has been about an year. I am using the original HTC sense ROM, now it feels like device is becoming really slow and unresponsive even making a call takes 5 minutes. I think reverting back to factory defaults might solve the problem. So, I want to know, how can I revert and delete all the apps and related files and perform complete clean fresh install. As we do when computer becomes slow..
More Details about the current situation of my phone-
Model : PrimoU (I guess..)
Rooted. (using SuperSu)
CWM installed.
P.S. - If there is an already existing thread related to my problem, please let me know of it.

Thanks for the reply, I think, you might not have noticed that, my device is unlocked an I am using TWRP bootloader. Will it work for factory reset?
Also, if you could suggest me a stable and fast custom ROM, that would be great.. I will give it a try...

Reboot loop - help!!!!

Hi there,
Today I decided to root my HTC Desire 'Android 2.2 Stock ROM' phone with unrevoked 3 (latest), all went well and was sucessfully accomplished. I was able to use the phone normally, however the problem persisted when I needed to restart my phone, which then I was unable to fully boot as the Startup keeps looping.
The Recovery console that came with unrevoked is ClockworkMod Recovery. Please I ask help and assistance int what to do, note: I do not want to flash/change my rom just fix it so it boots up.
The phone has been flashed without S-OFF.
Thank you!
If you haven no nandroid backup from right after rooting I don't think there is a lot that can be done without flashing a new rom, if you knew what caused the boot loop you might be able to fix it trough recovery and adb. If not, I think, your best bet is to flash the prerooted stock rom without wiping, that way you might no lose any personal data.

backup your sdcard with a card reader. boot in recovery and try to wipe everything(data. android secure, cache dalvik cache etc) boot normally.

if you can still get into recovery now, then you could do a nand backup then a wipe then restore the backup.
it might work...

I hadn't made any backup files using 'nandroid' or other, will this still work what your saying and which recovery should I use, ClockworkMod?
Thank you.
yep, boot into clockworkmod if you can and run a backup.
once that is complete, wipe everything - its in the options in the menu.
then restore the backup you've just made.
let us know how you get on

Done all steps metioned, however, now I my boot screen is stuck with no loops. Please help.
You can´t fix this. If you backup your rom, wipe everything and restore it again. Just puts everything back in its previous state.
Just wipe everything and flash a rom of your choice. No harm done, nothing bad, nothing breaking down. Only thing you need to do is set up your stuff again.
Use appbrain next time to restore your installed apps and entering your google account should recover your contacts.

I am not worried about the apps or contacts as they have been backed up before.
EDIT: Oh I also want to know, If I flash my phone to a 2.1 STOCK ROM will I be able to update to 2.2 using the inboard update feature normally and will by any stage the flashing of the ROM change my IMEI?
I want to be able return the phone to HTC under warranty.
Please tell me if there is other ways in fixing this problem without flashing a new ROM. If not, What ROM would you recommend?
Many Thanks.
Which rom were you on? Did you take the details before now.
Also, who is it branded to?

Ok,
It looks like you may have to flash an RUU. There are a couple available which you can find on shipped-roms.com
If you do decide on this route, make sure you choose a TMO UK one. You will wipe your contacts etc.
Download the RUU, start your phone in fastboot, connect to PC and run the RUU.
You may then have to check for updates on your phone.

Thanks, just a few questions...
1) Will my IMEI be affected?
2) If I flash this ROM, will my warranty be still valid or undetected?
3) Is there high risk in flashing using Fast Boot method?
4) Any guide for beginners?
Cheers.
You 'should' be ok but obviously I can't guarantee it 100%.
The rom you end up with will be tmobile so your warranty shouldn't be affected.
I suppose there's a risk with all of this, flashing, rooting etc..
But you don't have a phone that boots at the moment...
I've flashed an RUU before and its been fine.....
Your call I suppose....

IMEI wont be affected.

I just found out that my ROM is not on available on the Shipped-Roms.com website. There are TMO version of Android 1.15 and 1.25 and there is one 2.12.112.1 which is a australian version of the Rom.
Do you by any change have atleast the 2.1 ROM for T-Mobile or anyone else? I don't think I should flash my device with the Aussie version.
No, you're right there.
Hopefully, one of the experts on roms, EddyOS, will pick up on this and advise which ruu to use.
Sorry I can't be of further help.
Don't worry tho, your phone will be brought back to life

Thank you so much for your time and assistance, Much Appreciated.
To Developers(Experts): Please I am urging someone to please help me with this problem by posting a TMO UK ROM on Android 2.1 or above.
Thank you

[Q] Incredible 2 Bootloop and ROM Problems

Hey Guys Thank You For Taking A Look At My Thread.Lets Cut To The Chase.I Have A HUGE PROBLEM with my Replacement Incredible 2.I Rooted my phone with Tacoroot, and everything was fine.Flashed Condemed CM7.2 and started realizing i didn't like it as much,so i made a BACKUP just in case i wanted to return to the CM goodness.Went to TSMTrinity's Sense 2.1 Version 4.5 S,and here's where the problem started happening. After I set up everything on my Sense 2.1 ROM,i backed it up,the screen would get to the boot animation, get past the boot animation,id see my lock screen for 1 SECOND,and then it would start the bootup again.seeing as this was a problem,i WIPED All Cache and Factory Reset/Wipe Data on My Revolutionary Recovery. Then,I Restored the 2.1 Backup that i created and everything was fine again. Then again,i decided to Flash Mikrunny's Sense 3.5 ROM,which after i set up,worked fine,UNTIL YESTERDAY.I was driving in my car yesterday, listening to music on The STOCK HTC Music app on Sense 3.5,and the phone rebooted on its own.And it would not stop until i took the battery out.I got home, charged the battery for a bit,(shut down that is),then headed to recovery.I took out the SD card and rebooted the phone, but no luck.tried this rebooting process for an hour, until i decided to wipe cache and factory reset to my 2.1 ROM BACKUP.it works, but i just wanna know,am i doing something noobingly wrong when backing up and restoring roms? Also,i use Revolutionary's Backup,or I think its called Nandroid,to do backups and restores, and ROM MANAGER to edit their names and delete them. Also,an added side to his problem, when i boot to the Hboot screen, when it loads, for a few of the items it says, missing or wrong image.could that be the problem?? THANK YOU SO MUCH WHO REPLIES AND HELPS.:crying:

What OP wrote applies to me as well. I am looking for something better than aerovan's CM9 (which has been my DD), and thought I would give Viper a try. Without fail, bootlooping (which I could have guessed since I did tacoroot and this seems to be an issue with sense based roms).
That said, I tried steps 1 through 4 and the bootlooping stopped in Viper - it goes through startup and just shuts down before leaving the boot screen. One strange thing that I noticed is that the ICS Firmware/radio with Viper (which I loaded in CWM), wouldn't load in 4ext. Maybe I'll give paranoid a go if I can't resolve this bootlooping issue in Viper! I hope OP has better luck.
U don't flash radio in cwm..look for a how to.. can't explain I'm working sry

I'm not as knowledgeable as Chilly, but a thought did occur to me. if the cm9 rom included a kernel on the flash and then you went to a sense based rom that didn't include a kernel that could cause a problem. I believe that I read that cm using a kernel that is asop based while sense roms use a different based kernel. You may check to see what kernel you have and then check for the recomended kernel for that rom and flash that kernel. don't forget to wipe.

All of the roms come with a kernel for our phone, but certainly, don't flash a sense kernel with aosp or vice versa after rom flash. Chilly is right. Flashing a newer radio should fix the problem and the radio is flashed with a PG32IMG.zip in the bootloader, not in the recovery.

Good call. When chilly said you don't flash kernels in recovery I hit my head. I flashed the radio, but now my challenge is getting back into recovery since I renamed the file and bootloader always finds it and wants to reboot or I load CM9 which stays on flash screen. I'll figure something out, maybe with adb. Thanks.
Power down, pop the sd out, boot to recovery, rename file, profit.

i made a stupid mistake of flashing radio in recovery, in fact the radio is for Samsung at&t and now my phone vibrates it doesnt show htc quietly brilliant, only vibrates and orange light with black screen untill i pull out the battery... i was able to return to stuck and it can only boot if its connected to power, it doesn't read sd card while android is booted and in recovery to, only in bootloader it reads sd... error in mounting if i try to... i flashed RUU.exe 2.3.3 and 2 other RUUs for my droid inc 2 but it keeps vibrating... please help me!!! thanks
I made the same mistake when i first gained s-off for my dinc2. the thing with the venom rom tho is if you ever want to go back to aosp ull need to gets chill's anti-venom zip and flash it through recovery because doing a normal wipe wont do the trick. also a helpful trick that worked for me with roms if i ever start getting boot loops i go into recovery from the bootloader menu and i wipe the dalvik cache under advanced and then wipe the chache under mounts and storage and it always works like a charm for me. but ive also learned that you have to be careful which kernel you flash with the rom of your choice because not only will it cause lags if you happen to get past the boot animation to the main screen but in some cases it can cause breaks in your framework like your wifi data etc. im not an expert tho those are just suggestions that im familiar with because theyve already happened to me before. hope this helps in any way.

[Q] Looking for simple Rom and Guide

Hi there,
my mother in law is pretty upset with her Gio. She complains that it always has slowdowns and there are to many useless apps on it.
Therefore I want to get her a Custom Rooted Rom.
She mainly does:
-Of course, telephone
-Use Whats App
-Use SMS
-Wants to use a E-Mail-Client
-Use the camera
-Listens to music
Therefore I am looking for a custom Rom which lets me delete all the Useless Roms and improves the speed and the battery life of her phone. If it has a better launcher design which is not as "boring" as the one on her phone this would be a huge plus.
She uses Android 2.3.6 which is not bounded to a provider.

Since you doesn't have root or custom recovery, you can't use the "programs" WYPIERDAALAAC said. One way to backup your stuff is to use a program called Ultimate Backup Tool. If you wanna install Enhanced236 (the most bugfree one), you need to install install cwm, Clock Work Mod, first. How to:
1. Make sure that you have fully charged your battery.
2. You need to download the ext4only 5.0.2.0 cwm version, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650.
3. After you have downloaded the zip, you go into recovery mode, in this case stock recovering. You do that by holding The Home Button + Power Button until the recovery gets visible.
4. Then you do click on the Apply update from sdcard, and select the cwm zip.
5. After you have flashed the zip, you should reboot your device. Here's a YouTube video on the installation process: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxjxB8P9rSU
6. After you have done that, I recommend you to take a nandroid backup. The backup will be stored on your sdcard, so you can copy the backup to your computer if you want to, just in case.
Now you have installed CWM. Let's install the ROM!
7. Download the enhanced236 from this thread. Copy the zip to the root of your sd-card, and then go into CWM. Wipe data/factory reset. After that, wipe the cache partition. NOTE! This will erase everything you have done on your phone, so make sure that you have a backup ready! After that, click on the install zip from sd-card, choose the enhanced236_06.08.2012.zip and flash it. Just follow the instructions that pops up, and then restart your phone. Leave it booting/waiting for like 5 min, and then start touching/configure the device. After doing the necessary configuring, wait another minute. And reboot. And then it's done! Wohooooo.. :victory:
Hope you like your new custom ROM! And if you have any questions, just ask! I'm glad to help!

With your help I managed to install a custom Rom, thank you very Much.
I installed Cyangemod 7 Beats Music Edition.
Unfortunately I think I made a mistake in the backup. These are the files the backup gave me: IMAGE
-With this files and the files with are still on the phone is there any change to restore her contacts?
-Additionaly she has problem with handling her Phone connected to the PC as a Mass Storage Device. Is there any (free) German software which syncs the Music, Images, Videos more easily with her phone?
My mother in law is not very good with PC, therefore the more simple the software is the better.
Thank You very much

flash back to a sense rom, it should reset the LTE signal (did for me) and then flash another AOSP if you want an AOSP rom

I am on stock rom, no LTE still
I am on Vzw :\
I have run into this problem before going from sense to AOSP on the One, the Rezound also suffered from this. I have done this multiple times for both devices with 100% success, unfortunately a full wipe is required.
-Change your custom recovery to the stock recovery
-Factory reset from H-Boot, I usually do this twice
-This at least for me clears up data issues, and for some reason only factory reset from H-Boot seems to work. Custom recoveries do not clear the affected radio caches

Thats what i am unsure of, I dont know how to do this.
I have flashed a Radio RUU and custom roms on recovery on
this phone. But the phone already had all this done.
Pointing me in the right direction would be Super helpful
Thanks

The radio RUU is just that only the Radio's, if you have received this handset with most of the work done (S-Off) I would assume it had not been factory reset from Hboot after doing this. I had read that the S-Off process could affect data and it was good practice to factory reset from Hboot after completing S-Off. All that being said I have always been on a Sense ROM when doing this, as a warning back up anything you cherish...... for this wipes **INTERNAL STORAGE!!**
Go to Zarboz's decrypted RUU
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437436
-Download either .08 or the .10 DECRYPTED RUU
-Unzip it and find the recovery signed.img file
-Replace your custom recovery (CWM, TWRP) with the above recovery.
-Go to Settings>Power> Deselect the fast-boot option.
-Reboot into HBoot
-Select Factory Reset from the options
-Let it do its thing, when the One boots up do not worry about setting up accounts or anything because you are going to boot back into HBoot and do another factory reset, again uncheck fast-boot. I know this seems like overkill but considering you have already gone through all of this why not just wipe it again for good measure.
-Once all of this is done push your custom recovery
-Flash away and enjoy.
-Now this method will not help if you have fried your SIM card by doing a tower update (*228).

Dude you are freaking amazing!!!
Funny thing, i used Flashify to to flash the img
file and rebooted the system, it showed
a phone with a loading bar, it did its thing,
then rebooted, went into the OS and 4G
is working!
Thank you so much man!
Flashify eliminates pushing ,a great tool. If you have Flashify and also Meenova SD card reader you never have to mess with adb and fastboot again. Two great tools.

[solved]bootloop after installing new bootanimation

i tried to install a custom bootanimation with ROM Toolbox and unfortunately now its stuck on the bootanimation. This aint the first time that app has done something to my phone to cause bootloop either. So would it be worth a try to swap out the bootanimation thru ADB with the stock one from my ROM and see what happens? If i can whats the location of the .zip and B4 u ask no i didnt make a nandroid. I just hate doing a factory data reset and having to reinstall er'ything but honestly it feels like i do it once a week anyways. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help meh.
A bootloop won't happen if ROM Toolbox simply changed the bootanimation, which means ROM Toolbox must have done damage to other parts of the system. Hence, even if you throw in a new bootanimation, it likely won't help. Just reflash the ROM you're using (without wiping /data) and see what happens.

Only dirty flash when you do a version upgrade of the same ROM... If you dirty flash one ROM over a different one you may face all sorts of Force Close.
