HP Envy X2, find an active stylus - General Accessories

Hi everybody !
First of all, i'm French so please apologize my English.
I have recently bought a HP envy X2, a hybrid tablet. on their website it's written that there is an optionnal Stylus, that would mean there is an active technology that exists for that tablet.
After a few researches, i found that it was working with Atmel active stylus. But the problem is : i really, really can find where to buy one.
I really have made a lot of researches and i know that stylus does exist.
So my questions are :
1) Am i right when i say the HP Envy X2 would work with an ACTIVE stylus ?
2) Do you know anything about those Atmel stylus ?
Thank you ! Have a nice day .

Strange that you have not received a reply yet, I'm not to well informed about the stylus but I am also looking for an active pen/stylus. I'll try to provide some kind of answer, but it'll be based on what I've read in the documentation and on another forum (with focus on tablet PCs).
1) According to the manual/handbook I got with my Envy X2 it should support an active stylus/pen. It says that it's available on "selected models" or something like that, but I hope all models will be included.
2) What I have read on another forum is that a pen for the Elitepad 900 is on it's way, to be released later this year. I have read that the Elitepad 900 and the Envy X2 should use the same stylus, but I do not think it was from an official HP source so I'm not 100% sure that it is true. That pen is called something like "HP Executive pen". I've seen a link to HP Store Germany for that pen, but since I'm not sure if it works, how long it would take to get, and the shipping would probably be too expensive (to Japan), I'm waiting until I read something that I can trust.
I'm not allowed to post external links yet, but the one I'm following about the Envy X2 is TabletPCReview forum, Hewlett-Packard section.

I'm using a Wacom bamboo Ink for my HP Envy. It works perfectly. Theoretically there are 3 standards. Bamboo Ink supports 2 of them, but you need to switch between them by pressing the 2 forward buttons. The third one is used for Samsung Phones, and it does not support that one, i have a Note 8 and it does not work.

Bluetooth Virtual Key Board (VKB)

Hi guys,
Was planning to buy one of iTech's new bluetooth, red laser, virtual keyboards, I see from a review @ Dave's Ipaq
http://davesipaq.com/articles/iPAQ_Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard_iTECH_2P/1.html
that there are problems bonding to certain Ipaqs, has anyone tried to bond one to an XDA IIi? They are £120 odd, available soon from Expansys,
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=118539,
but obviously already available elsewhere.
A friend of mine did buy one but complained about fingers hurting after tapping on the projected keyboard surface. The other problem is also to find a large flat surface for the projection, specially when on the move.
We reviewed one a while back and the conclusion was it was a great gadget but impractical, a decent bluetooth keyboard would be a much more practical solution.
Problem with VKB
Hi folks!,
I have this gadget and its very cool, but until now I can`t pair VKB with my PPC (HTC Apache with Widcomm BT Stack). Simply my PPC not "see" the VKB as Bluetooth device and the I-Tech`s Tech support don`t answer my questions. Someone can help me?
Thank you in advance
I have the CL800BT from Celluon which is apparently very similar but supposedly a few more advanced options. (more key shortcuts)
Im using it with a HTC P3600i on WM6.
In general, most of these devices were released in WM2003 period and drivers are built for them.
I have had very good success pairing and using the CL800BT, but am yet to work out the mouse function.

Meeting with HTC

Hi all
i'm an engineer doing R&D for Leaf Wireless in South Africa. We supply wireless solutions and HTC phones to Africa.
i'm going to Taiwan to meet and recieve training from the HTC engineers from monday the 12th. And since i've received so much help from XDA developers in the past i thought i'd offer.
if there are any customisation questions you have or HTC issues that are proving difficult to solve post them here. i'll ask the guys when i get there and try get some answers.
cheers,
Greg
hmm this thread sounds like it could take off.
i dont think you know what you got yourself into supaspud. i know lots of people are going to have questions and suggestions for htc.
i for one would like to see them implement a wheel mouse not unlike the one in the danger sidekick 3. that would make wm experience 100 times better.
also ask if crossbow will officially be released as an upgrade for the wizard.
when i think of more questions or suggestions ill reply again
?Why don't they make a full size (3.5" or whatever) screen in a cdma with more memory. Hell it doesn't even have to be vga. I use mine as a pda, if I wanted a tiny screen, I'd just get a damn phone.

Save yourself the bother. It would be up to the telco's to decide on releasing an official update and they would then pay HTC to build the rom. Expect that to happen about the same time as the telco's decide to donate all their profits to third world charities.
It's not a telco thing. If you are refering to the companies who re-brand the HTC machines (most of whom are not telcos) the decision will be based mostly on whether HTC will actually supply the ROM and at what cost if any. They would have a fairly good idea about what they are going to do for some machines as they own one such company that retails their machines (Dopod). Find out about possibility of Artemis crossbow ROM if you can
Linux
It would be interesting to get their opinion on Linux on the HTC platform, and whether they would consider contributing to the development of a well rounded Linux based phone environment.
Yes, their opinion on linux would be good to know
Ask if they have any future plans to support it officially.
Ask them what (apart from soldering the chips on and editing the rom file for memory alocation) needs to be done to make 128mb of ram work on UNIVERSAL (it origionally had it, so the motherboard supports it and it can work
Hello Leaf Wireless
Well, well Greg, I thought that Leaf would not come out of the closet.
I have been the source of information till now, but now please take the stage.
A few months back I introduced a few of your staff to the XDA site.
I am now and then fed tit bits of information which I share on the forum. The ROM 1.35 update is a good example.
There are some clever guys here and we can all all learn together.
The problems I raised with Renier was:
1. Storage card getting lost in Media Player
2. Windows 5 is full of unresloved problems, with the BT stack poor.
3. Battery life on 3G is shocking. I have upgraded to 1.27 to see if things improve.
4. I have an Email from Dan Mackie @HTC Eupope stating that an Major ROM upgrade would be released at the end of January 2007, "to resolve all known issues on the TyTN". Nothing has happened yet!
The issue with the storage card was a known issue and I was informed at the end of September that it would be sorted with the next upgrade.
It hasn't happened yet but I have noticed that the TyTN's that you have received do not have this problem.
Please feel free to contact me should you wish.
Enjoy the trip and let me have a copy of the new ROM before you leave.
Regards
A wish list would be for the keyboard have some kind of a lock to prevent it opening when retrieving from the pouch. I find that I often drop call on closing the keyboard.
The magnets in the pouch are also troublesome and cause screen rotation and also dropped calls at times when rotating back.
GPS in the Hermes
What component of software (hardware??) is missing in the Tytn compared to the Trinity to make the GPS work.
Thanks
Francisco
PS. My first post, and I would like to thanks all the excellent XDA-developers community for this great forum.
@SupaSpud: Tell them to produce a Hermes with VGA screen and GPS and 256Mb ROM, RAM....
Thanks.

Several people have already asked this question:
- How can we install 128Mb RAM on Universal?
HTC never replied.
sheesh...
wow... looks like I opened up pandora's box. i'm making a list of all the queries and i'll ask them on monday. keep em coming...
ps: i'll find out bout the rom now.
Hey SSpud - gr8 offer !
1. I''d like you to ask why they dont set the default Bluetooth (a2dp) to Stereo (and the bit rate / max bit rate to 40+) ... and generally fix stereo BT.
2. How do they acvtually work with customers (eg BT in the UK) .... I get the inpression they are extremely slow and unresponsive.
2. Camera - if even cheap sony ericons can have autofocus and macro settings why cant HTC ?
3. Stereo Jacks (3.5 or 2.5mm)
4. Direct access to microSD card
5. When will they update their FAQ's and trouble shooting guides beyond the patronising " check that it is turned on type " answers.
Thanks for this oportunity !!
(I'm especially intersted efor Artemis/ XDA orbit)
Hello 'Spud,
Apart from sorting/mentioning the listed problems here - especially the poor bluetooth stack IMO - please do bump the question regarding their future GPS roadmap for TyTN/Hermes series of phones.
Now that will make a true convergence of technologies.
Kind regards,
Mine is a small and trivial request... could they please please please fix the battery meter on the hermes... the [email protected] +/- 10% drives me nuts... wish we could get the +/- 1% like the other devices.

Tell the guys at HTC to watch the XDA-Developers site to find out what's wrong with their phones and what features are needed to turn them into great devices - remember the IPhone is comming!
Basil
Tell them not to save cents in devices that cost hundred of dollars. For instance they use cheap and weak cpus like samsung (which has only ARMv4T) ot OMAP with it's low clock frequencies. Or they save memory and instead of using 128MB or more RAM! RAM is cheap! I'd like to see smaller touchscreen displays with VGA resolution! Look at the size and resolution of some nokias: E60 or E70. I'd like to see hermes (device with foldable keyboard) with gps, 624MHz intel cpu, 128MB RAM and 2.2 inch touchscreen in the near future!
YES! Tell them about this forum! Tell them not to do stupid things in locking their devices - this simply reduces their markets!
And tell them that maybe it is about time to see their x86 UMPC! Look at the sony vaio UX180P or UX280P!

I'm not exactly sure of what you mean about the wheel mouse. You mean like the one the Artemis has?
As for crossbow going onto the Wizard... i don't think that'll happen. But i'll double check.

Non HTC Device thread

Hi all
A while ago i started a forum for the omnia and other windows mobile devices, it a very similar style to xda (the same) but it features only non HTC devices
now all thats neded is you. if you own a non htc device and have asked for a forum to be included here for it. (dont complain about the policy in place, its there for a reason and this is not whats this thread is for)
please write what devices you would like to see or you know of high demand please post it here
we already have an XDA Stealth forum and the upcoming Toshba tg01 Lg k900 and acer dx900
any other sgestions are welcome
My ol' man has my old nokia E62. A forum (real one) for symbian would be cool. I hate em but would love to rweak his
sorry i shouldve written windows mobile
In this part of the world atleast, MotoQ and MotoQ9h is pretty popular. So you might want to add them. It's my 420th post, but I am serious
Also a whole lot of pple are requesting for LG KS20
cheers, thats wjhat m talking bout
im also thinking off adding the flame but there is already xda flame users
WinModevelopers.co.cc wants you!
Hehehe Nice! we have reaching 261 registered users on our forum and we have many threads and forums like this:

DELETED BY MOD
Thanks for all and keep it in mind lots of cabs... lots of info...
just on winmodevelopers.co.cc
+ Que PPC
couldnt have sed it better myself
and i appreciate the fact the site is looked at all
thanks for the clarfication and input guys
added new hp ipaq 6xx and 6xx c phone forums
what about general brand forums? like
hp
- xxx
- xxxc
asus
- P735
- P750
- M530
and so on? for each point another subforum with general, roms/upgrading, accessories.
i'm intrested because i'm looking for a good asus p750 forum but all i found was a non vistited, poorly informed clone of an russian board where no word english is spoken
maybe if you can get some good developers over to your board non-htc device will become more customized with roms etc.
there are a few reasons for the brand specific forums
firstly the IPB forum software used will not allow a category within category then forum setup
so i cant have
HP IPAQ
> Ipaq 600
>ipaq 600 general
ipaq accessories
secondly as this forum is to cater non htc devices but in the same manner and xda the boards are to be kept as close as possible, ALTHOUGH there is no endorsment or sponsorship involved this site is independant
the asus devices mention will be considered if they arent made by htc as this swerves away from creating friction with xda
Thanks mike!
So sorry for my other words i dont mind to make a partnership, just i think it once,

Request the GameKlip for the Captivate Glide

Ok my dear fellow users, here´s the thing, since the guys from Game Gripper aren't interest in adapting their product to our devices, I figured out it's time for a different approach, this, is the GameKlip:
This is what I've send to the guy who made this little piece of magic:
Hi, my name is Santiago Console, I’m a Captivate Glide user and an active participant of the XDA Forum dedicated to the development for this phone. A few month’s back, we gathered a bunch of request, from people who were trying to make this guys:
http://www.game-gripper.com/
Adapt their product to our phone, for some reason, they didn’t bother, even after we gather more people than the D3 Community, and that guys ended up getting it. That aside, will you be interested in adapting the GameKlip to our phone ? I can assure you, that, at least, you will sell 30 units, right after you set up the pre-order J
To know the dimensions and the shape of our phone, you can look into this page:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i927_captivate_glide-4071.php
Thanks, and I hope you can make this happen
END OF THE E-MAIL
He answered that if get's enough requests, he will make a GameKlip for the Glide and, come on, there's a lot of pros about this thing:
1) If you already have a PS3 Controller, you don't have to spend a lot of cash to play like a real Gamer on your device.
2) You can take advantage of the Glide's OTG functionality.
3) It's only a "Clip", so it's not like it's going to broke, get lost, or anything XD
So, the idea it's the same as with the GameGripper request before, so, please, If you have some time, and want to have this "Clip" available for the Glide, take a few minutes, and write an E-Mail to the creator, and tell hin that, If he makes it, you will buy it. His E-Mail is [email protected]
You can learn more about the GameKlip here:
http://thegameklip.com/
Thanks for letting me know about this, filled out a request.
What happens if you try to purchase the "Phone Only" on the Rogers web site?

I filled out a form as well. It would be great to have this accessory for the phone.

I was thinking about this, maybe I can even make Rogers send it to my courrier on the US, it's there any custom taxes for sending something from Canada to US ? Because if it is, then, I would just make my courrier pick it up directly from Rogers, it would be a little more expensive, but, safest as well.
And, about the thread, keep going, Game Gripper for the Glide it's possible, we just have to make sure that people over GG know that there's a lot of customers willing to pay for this device.
I like the iControlPad personally, it has 2 analog sticks that are great to use, but will request this for you guys anyways!

Doesn't matter Thanks for the support, and, let me add, the ICP it's a great device, but it's more convenient for devices without an actual Keyboard
Just emailed them for a Request as well. I should be getting my Glide next week.

Bump !!!!!
Done! How many submissions are they supposed to get before they consider doing it?
Maybe it's time to face the reality, we are not going to get the Game Gripper for the Glide, also, with MOGA around the corner, I would discourage anyone who's considering to buy the iControlPad, because, no mather how expensive the MOGA could be, It can't be very far from the iControlPad's price, also, it has better materials, and support from the big fishes like EA and Gameloft.
Farewell Game Gripper, you had your chance, and you lost it.
I've edited the OP, please check it out:

Yeah, I was also thinking about that, but aparently Moga it's having some trouble with the compatibily, and now the guys are telling us that in order to work with the Moga every f*cking game we used to play has to be re-writed, sorry, but for me, that's a deal breaker, I want the biggest compatibility list posible.

MYO Gesture Armband - The Jedi Force !

So I recently discovered a cool new piece of hardware. Looked around XDA and couldn't find anything, so I thought I'd share. ( or maybe I couldn't find it just 'cause I'm a noob and didn't look properly - forgive me).
The tool is a called "MYO" developed by Thalmic Labs. It's basically a Jedi force bracelet . Apparently it can connect to a multitude of devices via bluetooth and controls it via gestures, i.e, changing slides in powerpoint. I think its pretty awesome and would love to get one, especially since they have released its API so you can also develop your own pc/android apps for it. Only problem is that I don't have $150 USD being a student .
If you guys want to check it out you can visit thalmic's site (I can't post the link 'cause I'm a new user. Just google "thalmic labs myo")
May the force be with you

Lol on topic, here's the link for all you guys: https://www.thalmic.com/myo/. Seems like the device is still on pre-order, shipping 2014 with MSRP $159 in our geo. So perhaps it's advisable to wait till then.
Otherwise indeed looks like a fantastic device. Any ideas which apps will be available at launch?
Hey comunity,
As I finaly decided ton buy a Myo, I was ofc thinking about talk about it on xda. Let's dig a topic
I'm surprised by the way how few topics are opened about it here. I guess this techno is not enough known for the moment .
So here are my first impressions after wearing it for some hours :
Bought it on Amazon.com (because I was rejected by ThalmicLabs as "suspected of Fraude", what seems have already happend with french cards VISA).
Pros :
- The device is beautifull (Got the white one), great designed
- Confortable. I wear it for around half a day, and even if i still feel it, it doesnt "hurt" my arm or block blood circulation. Btw, as I work in suit, I can't totaly bend my arm (limited to ~95% of the movement)
- Even if it's 200% less accurate than a real mouse, it's a pleasure to stay in front of the screen, trying to controle mouse with your arm.
- A f*****g new way to interact with devices (As we are actualy limited to mouse & tactile)
Cons :
- Not enough movement recognition (only 5 gestures, with 1 aften used to unlock, so 4)
- Movement recognition is to much approximative to be used daily
- Muscle don't send the same "information" when your arm is leaning on the armrest of you chair. So you can't realy use it without to have stand your arm right in front of you (what is weird in office ^^)
- Some moves are not well thinked : Trying to close your fist (to make a " mouse click") when you are targeting the little red cross with your arm tight becomes a real challenge.
- It happend, REALLY OFTEN, that you unlock your device by mistake. Especialy when typing on a keyboard.
So I think the next big step for Thalmic and its community is to work a lot on the software to be more precise about movements. There is a beta of store, with a dev dedicated part, what let us hope about more and more app. But as Thalmic made a "all-in-one" tool to create app (called connectors for MYO), developers are limited to the what have been gave and THINK by Thalmic.
My impression is that Thalmic Labs had a very great idea of device, but are really bad to produce a good software to work with.
I.E. : You can't even change the time between last movement and auto-lock. It's fixed at 2 secondes and you'll have to deal with it.
I.E. 2 : You can't change the patern to unlock device.
So, to conclude, a very very BIG potential, but a lot of work to get it .
