Hi guys, i have a problem with Ordroid 14.0 & XM-Kernel #283, the WiFi not work, only put "authenticating", anyone know what could be wrong?
Thanks, and sorry my bad english
You flashed the boot.img, did you install the modules in the recovery ?
Yes, i follow the steps with says in the post
Install modules from recovery (Install the zip)
Wipe dalvik cache. Yes, it's important, the versions could have some binary level differencies (from different compiler options) which can lead to unknown behaviour with old dalvik code.
Erase fastboot cache
Flash kernel image with fastboot
If you have problems with some functions not working on your ROM, then repack. Otherwise it's not needed.

Click to collapse
And did you used the repacked one that's posted in the thread ? If so i would try the pure one from the XM kernel thread
I tried with both, and tried with 4 versions, and not work :s
Try it once more the other way around, boot to the bootloader and flash the new xm boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter the recovery and install the modules.zip
The same, not work, I think I'll leave it with the stock kernel
Yeah i guess, if you tried the normal and the repacked one then there is not much to play around with anymore !
Did you try 274 too, i see that its been used without repacking ....
Yeah i think so, thanks very much for your help n.n

You are using the sense based kernels right ?
Yes, i already test that version xD
Then im out of options !

I have tried to install CM9 to my One X, but appearantly something went wrong (after installing it tries to boot, but doesn't pass the nicely done/animated 'loading' screen).
is there a way to acces the SD-card from the bootloader (which still works, unlocked etc). So i can copy over the .zip again incase that was faulty.
Also; when going into recovery from the bootloader it just reboots the phone (go into CM9 again). so that wont work :/
any thoughts?
edit1:
oh yeah:
C:\Users\username\Desktop\HTC\onexroot>fastboot flash recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru.img
unknown partition 'recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru.img'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-end
eavoru.img'
wut? ^^
try using fastboot erase cache first
might fix everything
this command is wrong
C:\Users\username\Desktop\HTC\onexroot>fastboot flash recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru.img
it should be fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru.img
and you can use adb push to send files to your phone
Yeah, noticed the command was wrong. Fixed that, got a working recovery now.
However, clearing the cache didn't fix the issue. My 'guess' is that the CM9 .zip is just faulty.
Ill look into that adb push thing now, to find out how to push the img to the phone.
TY so far
might want to check the md5sum of the file you downloaded
it used to give me trouble back then. Some internet issues corrupted the file.
Hmm, btw, did you flash the kernel?
I mean the cm9 specific kernel?
My guess is i did not flash the kernel
im still quite new to all this, have rooted/custom rommed my desire before; but that was all 1 click
How does one update the kernel and what is the main purpose?
U need to extract file "boot.img" from the rom ZIP. put it in your fastboot folder.
Then use fastboot Command:
'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
erase Cache recommended before first boot
Edit: oh yeah ... and the purpose is, that the Rom needs the appropriate kernel to run. Its like the heart of the System.

devs are usually supplying both the rom and the kernel for the hox.
There is an issue that prevents the kernel to be flashed from CWR so you have to flash it yourself.
use flashboot boot kernel name.img on fastboot
kernel is the bridge between hardware and software or something like that

The issue is caused by the device being s-on.
The command is fastboot flash boot boot.IMG after do fastboot erase cache.
But yes the kernel sits between applications and hardware.

Fixed the problem
i DID update the kernel; so that was fine (just didn't know the boot.img was in fact the kernel)
Fixed the recovery after which i could access the SDcard to update the CM9 zip file.
This time it installed fine and despite some known bugs seems to do the trick.
Ty for all your help really needed a push in the right direction ^^

Hey there,
Today I wanted to flash faux kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647993 over ARHD6 as I heard lots of good things about it.
I did:
[recovery mode]
10. Select recovery
11. go to /sdcard/download and select the downloaded zip file and let it run its script.
12. Once the script is done, select "reboot system now"
After I did that, my HTC one x was stuck on the boot screen, so I then downloaded and flashed the kernels in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654982 I tried both Australian variants(since I got the phone in Australia) under "Faux123", and it was still stuck on boot screen. After that I wiped cache partition using clockwork mod, however this time when i rebooted, the phone just goes into a bootloop.
Okay no biggie (I thought), because I had 2 backups in clockwork. So I ran the 2 backups I had, guess what! Even after recovering, it still stuck on bootloop. Great. Now I've no idea what to do...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi,
The Kernel is independent Form your backup.
What rom do you use?
You may need repacked kernels.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727567
.bootloader
Flash kernel
Erase cache
. Clockwork
Erase delvik
Erase cache (factory reset)
Flash rom
Flash kernel modules
.
When you flash your kernel and restore a backup it tries to use the original settings from stock kernel with your new kernel. This won't work.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using Android Revolution HD 6. Should I still get a repacked kernel?
because we don't have s-off, you need to flash the boot.img (kernel) manually via fastboot with your pc. read fauxes kernel thread, it explains it all... good luck.

Thanks!!! You're a life saver. So I flashed it in fastboot, then I ran the zip file in the recovery. After that it boots up fine! But everything I have is lost, so when I try to recover it by using my previous backup, it goes to another bootloop O_O. Any ideas on how to get back my apps and data back?
EDIT: All right! Got my data back!
1. Restored using clockwork
2. Goes into boot loop
3. Flash the kernel
4. Wallah!
Got one question tho, how do I know I'm using faux's kernel? When I look at kernel version in system info, it says:
(some numbers)
[email protected]#350
SMP PREEMPT

Hello,
I have recently bought a second-hand HTC One X. When i bought the HOX it was rooted running the viper x 2.0.0 rom. I decided to change the rom to cyanogen 10 nightly. It was working fine but then i decided to install slim bean 3.0.0 and this was working fine too (this is what i have on my HOX right now). What i would like to do is install viper x 2.0.0 again or another sense-based rom. However i tried doing this and it does not boot. When i install it, it just loads the htc logo and then reboots again back into clockworkmod recovery?
I have tried various sense-based roms and none of then work? Also i know viper x 2.0.0 works because it was on there when i bought it.
Please can someone give me instuctions on how to do it.
Thanks in advance
P.S When i try to install the viper x or other sense-based rom i flash the boot.img using 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
I have just fixed it i installed the latest version and worked the one i was installing must have been a ota update? anyway if u are stuck like me read this
after flashing the boot.img try "fastboot erase cache" it should work
erase cache always
Thanks for reply

Yes, i know this because i use winrar to extract the boot.img from the viperx.zip
What do u think i should do to make it work?
I was thinking do i need to flash a kernel that works for the viperx to work or does the viperx.zip already have a kernel inside the file?
At the moment i have : 2.6.39.4-cyanogenmod because i have slimbean installed which is based on cm10
Full wipe, that's all I can think of.

1. go to bootloader and hit fastboot option
2. fastboot erase cache
3. fastboot flash boot boot.img (boot.img from the viperx.zip)
4. fastboot erase cache
5. disconect the phone from USB and go to the recovery
6. wipe data/factory reset
7. wipe cache
8. mounts & storage format system , data , cache
9. go to advanced and wipe dalvic cache
10. flash the rom
11. I rebooted the HOX in the aroma installer
12. and then it just boots on htc logo then back into recovery?!?
Also the weird thing is only sense-based roms don't work? And all the sense-based roms i have tried use aroma installer, maybe this could be to do with it?
First install rom then boot.img.
Sent from my HTC One X
did u full wipe inside aroma + what rom ver you are using maybe you are flashing an update or what hboot you are on ?
Ok will try now...

Thanks again!
Maybe i missed the kernel lesson, but i can'd find it in this forum.
My problem is : when you install a new rom, first you flash the boot.img from rom. When you want to flash another kernel, you flash the kernel.img and if existe, the modules. Why am i getting no network or wifi ? ex: Viper x, and XM kernel.
flashed viperx bot img from rom zip, instaled 3.4.0, first boot, everything is ok. My battery drained like in 30 min, so i decided to flash another kernel. I've gone reading, and the XM looks the best in battery life, and see in other post that is compatible. I flashed XM, and now i have wifi error and no network.
Please help me.

ok, i will write the steps
1. flashed boot.img from viper x (with viperx kernel flasher, that does fastboot erase cache)
2. flashed rom viper x 3.4.0
3. boot to see if is ok, is ok, all works, but the battery life is so poor
4. download xm kernel, and with the kernel flasher tool flashed it
5. no wifi and network signal

From this steps I don't see that you flashed xm modules. that's why you don't have signal.

If you used One X One click, it should have flashed everything properly...
Still, here are the steps:
- place the kernel.zip to your sd card root
- place boot.img from kernel.zip to your fastboot folder on your pc
- reboot in bootloader
- fastboot erase cache
- fastboot flash boot boot.img
- fastboot erase cache
- reboot in recovery
- wipe cache/dalvik
- flash kernel.zip
- wipe cache/dalvik
- reboot
This works for me every time, even though I duplicate wiping (not necessary).

You need to flash boot.img, after flashing erase cache and your phone will be fully functional again
command is fastboot flash boot boot.img
And yeah, better try alex v 2.6 pa3 kernel, that kernel will give you best battery
First install i always recommend to flash the delivered boot.img and rom. Change kernel afterwards.
Like been said above, flash the Alex kernel AND install the .zip via the recovery. Modules needs to be installed too

He said that he allready flashed alex-v (zip), so i told him just to flash boot.img
I'm not correcting. Just giving full info, the terms flashing and installing gets confusing for some. In my opinion flashing is what you do via fastboot and installing via recovery
no guys tried it both. but yesterday I got it fixed it was a problem with the latest philz not supporting aroma properly (says aroma file missing) so now it works like a charm
Good !
