After the latest Tmobile update this week for the LTE upgrade, My gallery stops working...
If I am in a Text message and want to attach a picture, it goes to the gallery and just sits and nothing happen...
I can go to the gallery and then select share... but is a PIA when I have multiple pictures to send to multiple recipients...and no, they are not the same all the time so having a group will not fix this...
Yes, I have cleared the cache
Yes I have selected to view only the images in device...but then when I go back is defaulted back to all
Yes, I know there is other apps...but why would I add an app when the stock one worked fine before
Yes, I have tried 2 different SD cards...still the same issue
Yes, I did master Re-set
Yes, I took to T-Mo Store and they told me that was not a warranty issue...and yes I spoke to tech support and the guy pretty much read a script and at one point asked me to shut down my galaxy S3...yes, S3...go figure.
I just like to know before I take drastic steps and put a custom rom on the GN2
Its a bug. Update added a kajillion galleries from Facebook, Picasa etc. More galleries, longer to load. I went through the same thing on my n4 as well. I'm trying to find a solution, been looking for the right cache to clear.

Solved it. Turn off all sync for all photo galleries. I.e Facebook, picasa etc.
Then go to settings, applications, slide over to all, then clear data and cache for gallery.

I know google and Facebook don't get along when it come to contacts. But is there a work around since i don't see the option to sync in the app. I don't care too much about the photos but more the numbers.
You can download friendcaster from the market which will sync contacts and pictures.
If you are interested in rooting and custom roms, Paul from Modaco has it working with the gsm version (still in beta, but it works). There isn't a LTE version yet, but if you're patient, I'm sure he'll be able to get a LTE version of his rom eventually. In the meantime, people have confirmed friendcaster works for now.
No methods that I know of yet ( GSM Galaxy Nexus) however you can sync pictures with contacts by navigating to the picture and clicking the menu button (3 dots) and clicking set as
Edit: it think friend caster works too

I could have sworn that the official Facebook app allowed for contact syncing. I guess it just hasn't been integrated for the GN yet? I really don't want to have to text all my friends and tell them to send me a picture of themselves. lol
Just download "SyncMyPix" from the market. Takes like 30 seconds to sync all of your contacts with their Facebook pictures. You can even set it to sync like once per day if you wanted to. I just use it once a week or so and it works perfectly (at least I did on one of my other phones, and I will here).
Used it on the way home from the Verizon store this morning and it had them all synced up before I was on the highway.

The Nexus phones don't do this. The Nexus One did, but that was before Google changed their policy. Facebook refuses to update to a different API that Google created for contact syncing/management and, as such, Google turns off their ability to sync on official devices.
Facebook's just too damned stubborn to make the (SIMPLE) change.

Thanks for that elaborate response! This is my first Nexus phone so I am still learning all the ins and outs of this thing. I will check out SyncMyPix now.

Any phone with vanilla android will no longer have contact sync with Facebook. (Been this way since the Nexus S) Unless Facebook starts using the API's Google provided them, which Facebook refused to do, this feature will not work unless you have an android overlay like sense, touchwiz, blur, or a custom rom that has enabled this feature.
If you don't want a custom rom, you will have to settle for apps from the market like friendcaster and syncmypics to work around the problem that isn't resolved between Facebook and Google, for now at least.
When I send an SMS message I see pictures for my contacts but my sent SMS picture is blank. (I'm assuming a picture of me.) If I click on the blank picture it says "The contact does not exist." I tried adding myself and my cell number to my Google contacts thinking it might add my picture from there but it doesn't seem to work.
I know this is a very minor issue but any suggestions?
Thanks!
I'm having the same issue, anybody have a solution?
It shows my google+ picture on mine, running stock rooted.

I just click on it and the larger contact picture pops up, blank of course. From there I am able to edit it and add a picture for myself.

when I try to click on the stock image (not for the contact that i'm messaging but for my own picture), its saying the same thing as sdmf91 pointed out, "The contact does not exist", its driving me nuts
Really? I just clicked on mine and it pops up a picture less popup with my name at the bottom. From there I can click on the picture and edit it like I would a normal contact.. did you guys put your name in the "this phone belongs to" section when setting up the phone? I did that and I think that could have something to do with why yours say "this contact does not exist"
Actually I didn't put anything in there come to think of it and im not sure how to even get back to that screen...Is there another way to enter that information?

Figured it out!!
Under applications, open "people" and on the top there's a section where it says "Me", click on that and input your info/picture and presto! Headache gone!
Does anyone know which app's cache or data I have to clear for the picture to go back to the stock black and gray one that came with the update? I recently deleted my Google+ account and disabled the app yet the picture's still there.
See attachment for clarification.
Try going to the people app and find yourself and edit/delete your photo on there.

I didn't have an entry so I made one and then deleted it. Didn't work. Also, I'm unable to clear the phone-related system file's caches.
Mine was empty. Dont use google±
I think zou have to remove your account by wiping some app data. Please Google for that. Then re-enable your Google account after you disabled g+
If you want to keep g+ maybe someone knows a workaround but for now I don't know another solution.
Oh one thought: In Google you have a contact picture remove it if possible or try to remove your g+ picture, But it seems to be difficult because the phone uses the picture from the Google account.
Without a workaround in android it won't work I think.
local profile
I use Google+ but mine was empty as well. I had to create a local profile in order to get the picture. Since it's separate from my gmail profile, I'm able to simply delete the local profile. I'd actually like to link my local profile with my only profile.
Did you ever figure this out? I even tried deleting the "me" contact in the People application and re-creating it, but the picture remains. If I tap it, it opens the contact that I deleted and re-created, which doesn't have the picture, so I have no idea where the stupid thing is saved.
Probably somewhere in frameworks

it probably gets stored in some frameworks cache, idk. account manager, backup transport, one of those.
it would be probably be easier to just wipe data, but i can understand you don't want to.

Ah I see. What would happen if I cleared the data for Google Services Framework?

click the pic in quick settings and try going from there
so i've found the default png picture but the colors are wrong when i set it as my picture in g+ any ideas?
also would it be possible just to block the profile picture in the hosts file? the url is https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-f_nXrseaXzE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAXw/Lk7vV7OntKY/s120-c/photo.jpg
nevermind found a workaround what i did:
make sure you have never installed google+ and the picture is still stock, make a backup in recovery, reboot, install google+ go trough all the steps until you see your circles (profile picture doesn't matter at this point, choose anything you like or leave it stock), go to settings -> sync -> disable google+, install carbon, make a complete backup of google+ app, go to recovery, restore your old rom without google+, install carbon there if it isn't installed, restore google+ app, the profile picture will not be synced since syncing is disabled
edit: it synced after a while, not working
Hello readers,
I use SE XPERIA PRO and run on Android 4.0.4. I don't remember when or why, but I have probably deleted my stock browser. I've tried installing it again from system/apps. It appears when I use the DiskUsage app and I can uninstall it, but it doesn't appear anywhere else. When I have finished installing it the option to open it is grayed out. How can I get my stock browser back?
Thanks for your time.
Try this for starters.Download "super backup"/any backup apps from play store.
save your apps,SMS and call logs and contacts.
Factory restore or use sony update service/PC companion.
Is your phone Bootloader locked or not and is it rooted?
There are many good browsers available on play market, try one of them

He just wants his stock browser back, not any third party app. Also, please answer new questions rather than reply to old questions for the sake of unlocking the ten post limit.

Assuming he can access /system, he definitely has root. Use Titanium Backup to backup app data and sms, backup your contacts locally to the SIM card, and repair your phone using PC COMPANION.

How do you define old question? Somebody had replied today and just because I didn't had 10 posts, you are assuming that I am replying to just fulfill the criterion. I myself use 3rd party browser and hence remanded.

Guys I've been taking pictures with the HTC camera and editing them with Google photos just fine, but now whenever I go to edit and save I get a message "unable to save photo edits" no matter what I do. Tried uninstalling Google+ as well but no luck. When I take pics with the Google Camera it works fine.
EDIT: so I took a picture and opened it with gallery saved it and opened it with Google Photos and now it works again. BUT all the older pics I took cannot be edited and I still get the "unable to save photo edits" Wtf....

I recall similar problems earlier this year too with the Nexus 5 or any other device. The solution that they came up with was to clear the cache of Google+, force close the Google+ app and then uninstall it, go to playstore again and reinstall it.
Don't know if it'll still work.
There are threads somewhere on xda with similar problems, might want to search for it though.
Let us know if it works, damn Google+, first this nonsense and now it's a battery hogger as well
---------- Post added at 08:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:54 AM ----------
This thread discussed the issue and then gave a link to another xda thread in which they gave a link to the solution discussion where they said to force close, uninstall, reinstall like I mentioned in my first post too.
Don't know if it still works though, should though as some of the replies on that discussion came as recently as May of this year so...
