As the title says. I would like to know if SD cards affect gaming. In this case, specifically the difference between a class 10 and class 4 one.
Class 6 is optimal for gaming I am using class 4 and its not so good especially with swap.for swap I will go with class 10.
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Yes. After I replaced Sony stock SD Card everything seems to be faster. In some games it's a huge difference. This works only on games that are on SD card of course.
Sent from my r800i
Ok, the thing is -
Class 4 = $42
Class 10 = $76
Is it worth it?
/==(CyberScopes)==\
Yes.or buy class 6.class 4 are on the "edge" of lagness.

Where are you getting your sd card from on Amazon a class 10 32 gb only costs 20-30 dollars
Sent from my R800x using xda app-developers app
Class 10 is teerrible for gaming. You want better read speed then write speeds. Class 10 are only good in cameras and camcorders and it is marketing gimmick
It would only inprove loading times with bigger (20mb+) games.
Unless you use swap to get additional (swapped) ram then hungry resourceful apps would be quicker

I had been looking for a 64gb microSD card to work with Android and this one on Rakuten went down to $44.99 with free shipping about a month ago(it's back up to $56.97 right now): http://www.rakuten.com/prod/sandisk...pacity-microsdxc-1-card-retail/230825299.html
If you look for these cards on Rakuten, usually a few days later you will get an email from them (assuming you're logged in to their site)...like Amazon does saying something to the effect "We've noticed you were looking at these items"...and they had dropped the price for me to $44.99. I jumped on it. So keep your eye on this one. I've had it installed in my rooted Xperia r800x and it works great - I've got it loaded with 48gb used so far. No lag playing games 99% of the time. I've had a couple games lag because I had some other process running in the background which I force closed. The launcher takes a couple seconds to load but that's probably because I have so many games loaded on it(from "A Space Shooter" to "Zombiewood" with some "Fifa12" and "MC4" inbetween. I hope this helps.
I have a 32gb class 4 SD and in all the time i have used it on my PLAY its been good enough for gaming, but the only gaming I do is through emulators so I can't say it its good for gaming on more advance android games...

Stock is somewhere around a class 6 I think... it may vary though. Mine was class 6...
Right now I'm running a 32GB Class 2, it runs great! Not even slow, honestly. It's a SanDisk. Don't be tempted by the cheap Kingston 32GB cards. They're scammy ****. I got one, luckily it was through a reasonable seller who refunded me.If you go for a 32GB, I recommend SanDisk. Buy it through Amazon, it should be about 80 USD.

I would think the stock card would be class 2. But mine didn't come with one. I had to buy one seperate when I bought it. I have a 8GB SanDisk class 2. And its plenty fast. Best to use a SD card reader for the best speed.
I just bought a new SD card for my camera (Canon T3i) and went with a 16GB SanDisk Class 4, and it can handle full 1080P video without filling the camera buffer at all. The class is actually the minimum speed it will write at. The Max is usually much higher. At least with the good cards.

Yeah, my stock 2Gb was a Class 2.
If the card isn't marked, it's a Class 2 card.
Class 4 is generally the slowest you want for decent HD video recording & playback if you do that.
Anyway, I'll check out the SanDisk 32Gb Class 4 and up cards on Amazon, I've been leary about the online MicroSD cards because I've heard about the Chineese fakes too. I heard that A-Data makes a good MicroSD card, what's your thoughts on them?
Is Patriot another cheapo like Kingston?
Thanks!
Ok so im thinking of buying a 32g sd for this phone cuz i really wanna put all my music on my phone and i have like 10g of music, wondering how well it would work, Ive bought an 8g and 16g sandisk at walmart and both have worked great, anybody using a 32g on their s2?? What kind? Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
I'm using one... the speed isn't great but for music and videos and also for nandroid backups and such, speed isn't so much of an issue. I got it on sale from Newegg (I think the brand was A-Data or something like that) for $40, but I got it a while ago.
I have a Samsung class 4 32gb and I only have like 3gbs left on it. I have used it for the last few months in my T989 with zero issues
Just bought an 32gb Class 10 Samsung micro SD from Amazon for $50. Swapped it into my phone this morning. No problems, speeds are class 10 or better (see pic using SD tools app).
i have both the 32 GB and currently using the 64 GB as my daily driver
they both runs great
the speed of the SD is not determined by size, but by its quality and Write Speed
there is a sticky with benchmarks you can see which cards performs better

That's only a class 4. There were a couple deals with higher classes for around the same price. I would suggest going at least class 6. I think the max that our phone writes is 8? Not sure on that one.. I have a class 10 but i normally use a usb adapter to transfer files which is blazing fast compared to the data cable way.

I currently have an old 6gb SanDisk sdcard I got a few years ago which works well for me.
Although I've been wanting to upgrade to a 32 or 64gb sdcard. I've noticed people having issues with sdcards like the phone won't recognize or it unmounts rapidly.
I was wondering what you guys use that's most stable for you. Do you guys use SanDisk, Samsung, etc memory cards? Post model or anything that works.

Its been generalized already basically, But I would avoid Class 2 & 4. If you can get 6 or 10, The bigger the card or if you know there will be more photos, movies, etc on it 10 will be the way to go. I've had ever C2/4 Die on me within 3 years from adata, & sandisk awkwardly.
I got a Samsung class 10 on ebay actually in march for 14 bucks....so prices are going down (I guess we all have same idea of looking on ebay first for deals...)
Can anyone recommend me a 32gig micro sd card? I recently purchase this POS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA26X0PJ1516 from newegg and I'm pissed off at how bad it is. It is advertised with amazing write and read speeds but is nothing near that! It maxes out around 6.6 MB write and 10MB Read speed, WTF. I'm in the process right now for getting a refund and want to get a reliable SD that does not lie about it's speeds. Thanks

Does it really matter on the class, I have always been confused by that.
Yeah as each class gets higher, it means the read and write speeds get faster. Class 2 is the lowest. Class 10 is the fastest. And there's
UHS 1 which is faster then class 10
