[Q] Is there an ICS (or later) ROM as stable as CM 7.1? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an ICS (or later) ROM for DInc that is as stable and functional as CM 7.1? I am still running CM 7.1 and haven't kept up with latest developments other than that 7.1 was apparently the last "official" CM ROM.

Cm 7.2 was the latest release of cm 7.
ICS is not as stable or full featured in this device. Though my cm 10 and cm 10.1 builds have mostly everything working. (First page of incredible development)

I've read about every 10-th page of the thread for your 10.1 ROM.
Am I correct that main issue is video camera being choppy and slowdown right after the startup? Is this pretty much it? Are there any slowdowns during the regular usage and/or app incompatibility?
Coming from CM 7.1 do I need to flash newer recovery version (I have CWM 5.0.2.0)?
I plan to do:
0) Put this file on my SD card: http://goo.im/devs/tiny4579/inc/cm10.1/cm-10.1-20130330-TINY-inc.zip - should I rename it to something else? I haven't flashed anything in a long time and if I recall correctly ROM may have to have specific file name to be flashed?
1) Backup,
2) Factory reset
3) Boot in recovery by holding "Vol Down" when turning power on
4) Format /system using CWM menu selection
5) Flash new ROM
6) Install Google Apps
Did I get this right?
If I want to get back to CM 7.1 - all I have to do is to reset to factory setting, format /system and restore from my 7.1 backup, right?

Pretty close make sure you flash the gapps in the OP of my ROM thread as they're designed for this rim on this device. Also to go back to cm 7.1 (use cm 7.2 if you're using cm7 honestly) all you have to do is restore your backup.

Do I need to upgrade my recovery first? I currently have CWM 5,0.2.0. I just watched video where someone was installing CM 10 on DInc 2 and he said he had 6.0.1 recovery installed

No you don't have to.

I'd try TWRP recovery. Way better in my opinion. Download the GooManager app and hit settings then install open recovery script.

Which is very hit or miss for most. Mostly miss. I'd flash this in HBOOT (current version of TWRP 2.5.0.0).

Haven't tried that fix yet. That low space issue plagued me when I was on stock sense. Since I used Unrevoked to root and installed CM 7.1 (and later 7.2, 10.1, etc) I have not once had the low space issue, even with regular use. Is CM just that much better at regulating data?

I see. So on stock Sense, this Data Monitor was looking for the cache on /data instead of /data/data for the Dinc? Seems like a pretty large problem that HTC overlooked.

i don;t know about the specifics of CM 7.x versus CM 10.x but the issue is one that manifests itself over time. obviously if you don;t run any apps that store data in the phone memory area(which is done by developers for "speed and security") then you might never run into this issue. you could easily stay under 149mb and never notice. But once you get down to less than 10-30% free, strange things start happening that only a factory reset will fix.
Some of the apps that do it are the text messaging app-this is the notorious one because everyone tends to save every text they ever receive. Others include email clients, google maps, amazon app store. the Google Playstore actually caches updates to your phone.

Yeah, I used to save all my messages. I remember clearing some out helped with that. I use Aqua Mail. Not sure if that does it. Is there a way to tell if an app caches to /data/data? Judging by root explorer, I'm only using about 50% right now.

Not an easy way but many apps do cache some. Easy way to clear app cache is tap cached data in storage.
The whole 10% free issues shouldn't happen with cm's /data/data monitoring and if they do a simple clear of app cache will help unless you really don't have space left.

the problem is there is a threshold you will hit eventually where no amount of cache clearing will fix. I hit it several times and had to factory reset causing me alot time and losing my configuration. this was before I rooted the phone. this can happen if you use an app like Facebook which may cache alot of data-several megs worth.
I use Appmgr Pro to monitor my space along with DiskUsage. Fortunately since rooting and installing the updated rom and fix, i haven;t had an issue. however, sometimes i clear out 40-60 megs worth of cache data. just stuff being downloaded by the Playstore.

Very slow??

Hi guys,
I've been using Cyanogenmod 7, and it was going very slow. I decided to completely wipe the phone and SD card and start from scratch with Andromadus Mimicry ROM. It is much faster I find but I still get the random slowdowns.
My biggest problems seem to be with the Facebook app, it slows down the phone incredibly. even when you exit the app, unless you force close it, the whole phone goes to a crawl.
I also find even if I uninstall the facebook app, I get lots of random slowdowns, like random times during the day I'll go to read my SMS and it takes FOREVER to load (go sms app)
any ideas?

Are your partitions ext4? Did you debug and follow the steps in the Mimicry OP?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
4EXT is paid software eh? don't really want to pay for it if I can avoid it, any other way of checking??
Wheres the debug steps?
4ext is a free custom recovery, there is an app similar to rom manager that is a paid app. if you don't want to support the developer for whatever reason your choice, but you can still flash the 4ext recoverey via fastboot or a pc10img
can you get a logcat? if your slowdowns are easily duplicated then plug phone into computer, and run a logcat through adb when you are experiancing this
*facebook apps is terrible* (so is facebook)
study the op of mimcry, search the threads for similar problems.
just an fyi - mimcry is one of the best ics roms for the vision and if you are having strange slowdowns then either a bug needs to be reported or you did something wrong
(didn't fully wipe, still in ext3, etc)
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
thanks man, I tried android market and can only find a paid app called 4ext. I use clockworkmod recovery as thats what cyanogenmod 7 recommended, I have not activley done anything to setup ext4 though as there was nothing in mimcry instructions for this.
i cant easily duplicate the issue as it happens totally at random.
i fully wiped and reset to factory defaults before installing mimcry also

go into tsubus' ilwt cm7 thread, there you will find a link to superwipeg2+ext4, this will wipe all and change format of everything but sd card to ext4
don't check the market for custom recoveries, you go there for apps, look for the 4ext thread in the dev section or just google it

okay thanks for your help! i got 4ext installed and checked info, so my system partition is ext4, data and cache are ext3... sd card is fat32
so I need to wipe and redo it with ext4 for all of them?
all but sd card should be ext4
sd card should be fat32
sdext (if you have it) should be ext4

you're great help thanks heaps.
so now I've got 4ext and i ran superwipeg2+ext4, then reinstalled my mimcry rom, just reinstalling all my apps i want now, will see how it goes
checked info and everything is now ext4 apart from sd card which is fat32. hope this makes a good difference!
damnit, no improovement still slow as fawk, just started up endomondo and signed in, now have a black screen and a crashed phone for the last 5 mins... oh wait now it loaded... grr
Please read the FAQ in the Mimicry OP. You need to find the apps causing the slowdowns and either uninstall them or wipe their data if you're restoring app data from Titanium backup.

I am having a very hard time finding which apps are causing this, and none were restored, all were installed totally fresh from market after fresh install of the ROM.
I've read everything in the FAQ and can't seem to find any answer

Install watchdog, or view wakelock use with betterbatterystats. Better yet, use logcat and grab a log of the slowdowns as they happen.

Thanks, I am happy to get a log using logcat, do you have some basic instructions for me to do this? I already have android SDK installed, is it a matter of just running adb logcat and waiting or?

Yep, though I would use Watchdog first to see if it alerts on any high cpu processes.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Sounds good man, just installed watchdog and will see how it goes thanks for your advice
strangely enough watchdog has not found a single problem yet even though my phone keeps slowing down every now and then, seems to be slightly less frequent now after all the apps have settled in I guess? still certainly doing it though
also one other issue I found is a program I use called AirDroid stops working properly through its web interface if the phone locks, which I didnt have this problem on CM7
Mind if i but in, but this problem is discussed and handled well in the AOKP nik3rs rom EliteMod & EliteKernel ICS* (which I highley recommend!)
But Its seems one of the problems that can cause this is bcuz you some people still have there apps backed up from there GB rom with their account and switching to ICS rom will only install the GB forms of the app from the market its highley recommended to backup data from apps in Titanum, and Install all new apps to your account and then restore data from Titanium.
Also I have alsot noticed that in 4ext sometimes Superwipe isn't always the answer Try Using the "Format All (except SDCARD)" option in 4ext it seems to clear away alot more bugs then superwipe! hope that helps..
Also try elitemods dataswap and sdext patch if you stay on mimicry!
Thanks man might have to give that ROM a try. And once again I fully wiped and loaded the ROM and I installed each application freshly from the google play store. nothing was backed up or restored so thats not the problem

Maybe I should have been more clear in my last post, Are you using SD-EXT? or data swap? and The way I have to flash is sometimes is after dalvike/cache ofcourse
1- Factory/data reset
2.-Then apply the zip superwipe (let it reboot)
3.-Then apply the FORMAT ALL EXCEPT SDCARD option in 4ext
....and just to note you are mounting everything before you wipe right?
Hope this can help.
And if not I would again highly recommend the EliteMod Rom its the best!!

[SOLVED] AdAway Blocks ads on WiFi only

So I've used AdAway since I bought my GNex, and it's always worked perfectly until now. Whenever I was on 4.1.x ROMs, AdAway would block all the ads on various apps on any network connection, whether WiFi, 3G, or Edge. Ever since upgrading to a 4.2.x ROM, it is only blocking when I'm connected to a WiFi network. On cellular data connections its like I don't even have AdAway installed. I've tried it on different 4.2.1 ROMs, and they all give the same results. I'm pretty sure that the reason its not working has to do with the Android version, but I can't find anybody else that has this problem, or at least can't find it posted anywhere. Does anybody have a solution or suggestion on how to try and fix it?
Thanks.
Solution: APN proxy causes ads to show up. Removed it and all is good!
It blocks for 3G/4G for me just fine. On 4.2.1 myself.
Try reinstalling the app? what is your ROM / Kernel set up?
Try installing SuperSU https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwyLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdXBlcnN1Il0.

I actually have reinstalled the app. Should've went into more detail in my first post. I've tried redownloading from the market as well as reinstalling from a titanium backup, without data. I've uninstalled and reinstalled about 5 different times now, each with a different combination of reboots in between. I'm currently running ParanoidAndroid 2.99 beta8 with stock kernel. But I've had the exact same issue with each of the below configurations:
Paranoid 2.99 beta 6, two different beta 7s, two beta 8s. I've had the stock kernel with each beta, and also tried Franco.kernel r342 (if memory serves) on beta 6, and each beta 7s. I have only used stock kernel on beta 8. I've also had the stock ROM rooted installed with stock kernel. Come to think of it, I've only used Paranoid or Stock 4.2.x ROMs. Could it have something to do with the Paranoid ROM? But what confuses me is why it blocks on WiFi just fine, but no other connections. Paranoid has SuperSU with it, but I think when I rooted the stock ROM it was just SuperUser, not SuperSU.
Thanks for your help!

I had no problems with AdAway when I used my GN with CM10.1 + Franco (gave the phone to a family member, i keep it updated every other day). I use the Chive app for testing it, and that's where I notice the ads the most, but it isn't blocking in any app unless on WiFi.

Always! When I flash a different ROM I do a Factory Reset, then Wipe Cache and Dalvik, usually twice. If I'm going from one kind of ROM to another I usually wipe /system as well, but if I'm just upgrading within a family of ROMs I only wipe Cache and Dalvik. I'm at a complete loss as to what could be causing it. I think the next thing I'm gonna try is formatting /system, data (not /data/media), cache and Dalvik, then install a 4.2.1 ROM, GApps, then AdAway and theChive and see if it works. If it does then maybe an app I have is conflicting, though I don't see how.
Thanks again.

Yeah, well, I probably had other things I should've been doing, but you know how that goes. lol.
I did a factory reset, wiped /system, cache, and dalvik before the ROM flash. Then I flashed JBSourcery v4, gapps, then wiped cache and dalvik again. When it first booted, I installed AdAway from Play Store, applied blocking, rebooted, installed theChive and speedtest.net from Play Store, and I STILL have the same problem. The only thing I have left to format is my sdcard I think, but I don't know if that would have any effect.
Would you mind telling me what your options are set to in AdAway or post a screenshot of the settings screen? Maybe I have a problem there somehow carrying over through ROMs. I appreciate all your help so far. This thing is really bugging me. Thanks again!

I haven't tried Cyanogenmod yet. Maybe I'll try flashing that next. I usually use whatever stock kernel is installed with the ROM now. In the past I've used Franco.kernel and I've never used any kernel besides those two. The only thing I have left to check is something on my sdcard causing problems. With a factory reset, format /system, cache, and dalvik, there isn't anything that doesn't get wiped is there? I'm gonna try a different baseband too. I really don't think that'll fix it but stranger things have happened. Thanks again for your help!

Cyanogenmod help

I've looked through the forums for hours now and according to the noob video made by xda. I'm asking for help. I have an at&t Samsung galaxy s3 with the CyanogenMod installed (as the title implies) and to be honest its not worth the hastle. I'm having problems left and right. First off, the camera app that comes with the phone is missing. Or if theres a custom one. Its not included. I'm aware that I can find and install an external apk but I'll get to the problem with that in a bit. I followed very detailed instructions on installing the cyanogenmod and gapps and everything was fine (stable version) but the notifications suggested I update the mod so I did. Now I have the camera but my play store will not work. It opens for a split second then closes. Also, the file manager is gone. So I downloaded multiple file managers and it seems after first use that they can no longer open anything. I can't even access the files. I checked the superuser allowed and disallowed apps and everything seems fine. Now with the apk problem. Almost any apk I download will not install on my phone. Sorry for the erratic problems just jumbled everywhere in this post but I'm using my phone to write this so its a bit difficult to organize. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. A link to a post already like this (which I couldn't find) or a link to a tutorial maybe or troubleshooting these problems. I will delete this post as soon as I find a solution so I don't use up space on the forums with a somewhat personal problem. Thanks in advance!

Go in application settings and delete your play store's data/cache. That should fix it.
Without it, it's kinda hard to install apps unless you sideload. If you do sideload, you need to allow it in your settings (security I believe).
if you're using the stable version of CM
you might have to go to Date & Time setting
and fix the date on there in order to make play store works
and everything you say about camera, it is weird indeed because not only CM, every rom out there should include a camera app
if that problem still exists for you, you might want to clean/wipe everything, from cache to system and then flash the rom again
Thank you guys. I tried wiping the cache and it still didn't work. I don't mind side loading which is what I've been doing but its not ideal. I can only search for the exact app(s) I want rather than exploring via play store. Also, you guys didn't mention the problem with the file managers not working after first try. If you have any feedback it'd be great. I would like to keep the cyanogenmod but its just not worth the time and effort (opinion). If I can't fix the problem or find a solution I'll just go back to my phones stock UI because even though I think flashing ROMs is awesome. It really isn't worth frustrating myself with something that's an option and not a necessity. Thanks in advance for feedback.

Have you tried a factory reset?

the file manager part is really weird.
if you clean install, especially the stable version, everything should works just fine
however, it sounds like bad install though
how about this this
Download Titanium Backup and wipe data + cache for file manager only and see if it works
if not, try the longer way
download stock att rom(4.1.1)
go to recovery, wipe everything
go to download mode
flash stock rom with odin
restart to recovery, wipe dalvik and cache
root the phone
Re-Download CM10 stable
go to recovery, wipe everything, including System
flash cm10
reboot and see if everything works
Yeah I've tried a factory reset. It only deleted my user data not really resetting the phone. Thank you pcchano (sorry if I got name wrong) I'll try and erase everything and reinstall from scratch but its not my first time using custom ROMs so I'm sure I did it right but I'll give it a go. Also, someone told me that I need to completely wipe any data associated with Google wallet before I root or else play store will not work. Has anyone tried out this theory or know anything about it? It doesn't make sense to me seeing as wallet is saved server side beside the basic user data stored on the phone. But please let me know. You guys are all very helpful thanks for the feedback.

Also, I've never had to wipe dalvik before? Could that be my problem? I also noticed that when I updated cm the info panel said 'experimental' even though I chose the stable version to start with? Could some of these problems be associated with cm rather than blaming it on my phone? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

i have like 2 s3 using CM10 stable version and no problem with it (other than the play store wouldn't connect due to the date in setting wasn't correct) while I myself am using CM10.1 and other than the bugs that come with CM10.1 or google source code, it is a functional rom
so i would rather say, it is your phone
and you should always wipe dalvik cache along with cache partition before flashing new rom.
OK pcshano thanks very much. I'll just erase everything and start from scratch. Thanks everyone who helped me. This forum and you people are awesome. I'll delete this post as soon as I reinstall the ROM to make sure it worked. Thanks again!

The stable cm is of the 10 variety. The experimental builds are 10.1 if I'm not mistaken. In which case you should only need to flash the appropriate gapps package to get the play store functioning and camera as well. The file manager issue I don't know beyond the external sd card being a bit sketchy on 4.2 builds. Are you using an external sd card? Start with a fresh flash of 10.1 if you want to go with that, flash a 4.2 gapps zip and see what happens from there.

[Q] Insufficient Storage Available problem

OK, so I know... lousy first post... But, I just want a bit of overall guidance because I think I might be doing something fundamentally wrong and I'm hoping to fix that. So first let me say thanks for all the awesome ROMS and lot of cool fixes and ideas, I always check here first and appreciate the work you guys are doing!
I have had no fear in installing ROMs, I rooted as soon as my warranty was void at verizon. I love my old DInc! But, I can only install like 20 total apps now, and I think I've done something wrong or am doing something wrong.
Here's the history of what I've been doing.
Stock, Virtuous, CM6, CM7.2, CM7.2... It was here where I started to run into the low memory. All the forms said for this I should ext4all the dalvik cache. so I grabbed that file and installed it. The memory warning went away, but things got really ugly choppy and slow with a bunch of FC's. So I decided to change things up, and went to try an ICS ROM (I think albinoman) and installed a couple times... and I didn't wipe the dalvik cache before doing this. though I did wipe the factory data and cache. After this I noticed that a lot of things remained on my phone (wifi passwords, pictures, etc... like I hadn't erased any data). Soon after finding some bugs that drove me crazy, I upgraded to a CarbonRom (Thanks zachf714!) I loved it, but it seemed like I couldn't install as much as I used to on CM7.2... and maybe I can't... But I'd run into low memory things again and again, and eventually got it down to basically google apps, facebook, and a couple podcast/radio and the essential video apps for chromecast. Well, I wanted to try kit kat out, and I had started to run out of memory again, so I went in and grabbed the new CM11 and installed it, This time I wiped dalvik, factory data, and cache before install. It was amazing like a brand new phone... Only this time 2 of my previous apps were unable to install because I had "insufficient storage available". So I pushed as much as I could to the SD card, and that still didn't help eventually it was so out of space that the launcher would crash immediately after reboot. So I tried to reinstall everything, wiped all three, installed the rom, ext4all, then GAPPS... This time facebook ran out of space before it could even install. So I went back and tried again but without the ext4all... and now facebook and google voice run out of space before I can get htem installed...
So I guess the question is, what the heck am I doing wrong in my clear? I seem to constantly be shrinking the available space on my phone for apps. I know that it's a limited thing and has been a problem for the DInc, but how do I fix this? Do I just go into the file system and start rm-rf in the file structure? I don't even have (nor can I try) to install games at this point, and I fear logging into apps in fear that I'll shrink the space even more. And by all means feel free to point me to the "installing a custom ROM, You're doing it wrong!" thread that is in front of my nose and I'm missing. I've got 5Gb of space on my SD and ~3GB of free space on the phone itself... So I'm at a loss and that's why it's acting this way, and that's why I'm asking for help. Would I be better off going back to CM7.2 or trying to keep going with the newer ROMS?
Thanks again for any help and advice you have.
OK well let me ask something differently then and maybe I can get some help. Being that I'm new I need 9 new posts before I can go to the devs page and ask there anyway...
Does anyone know what folders/files are critical to keep on the device? I can nuke the rest and try again.
Would starting with a blank SD card make difference?
Thanks again.
Well not really the external sd card is only for apps moved to sd card. You should just fully flash and start over. That is what I have had to do. I hope this helps you out.

but the idea of what is happening here is not making sence I do not get why a full wipe and full reflash would not fix your issue here if you are doing it all right.

From terminal:
df /data/data
df /data
And tell me what they report.
The Inc has a small /data/data partition so that could be the problem. But if a full wipe doesn't fix it I don't know. Maybe the hardware is going bad but I'm not sure.

Do you have chrome installed? It's an app data hog.
When /data/data fills up or gets close to doing so there start to be issues and that might be the cause of your issue.

Can you do a factory reset from recovery (backup if you want to keep your apps for any reason) and then run the commands again? I'm curious if there's an issue with the partitions and they're not clearing. It seems weird that 24 apps would fill up 130MB of /data/data and 500MB of /data. Oh, contact storage and calls/text messages use up /data/data as well.
Sounds similar to me. I can only fit about 30 apps. Most are small but I do have chrome. I swear I had more before jumping to 4.x. That is why I was considering a datamedia build but I haven't had time lately to play with it.

Well... Everything looked nice and fresh on the first go... Then one app hung on install, so I restarted the phone. When I did my old wallpaper returned, so I quickly went to check the gallery and look for the photos that should have been erased in the factory wipe... But they are all still there like nothing happened.
So even though it's currently installing apps... I have zero faith that I get through all of them before I run out of usable space again.

Riiiight... those commands.... guess I just read that wrong sorry.
Right now I have
/data size 748M Used 625.2M Free 122.9M
/data/data size 149M Used 103.4M Free 45.6M
This is after all the apps restored themselves... this time though I did manage to get G+ and Facebook up, but I havent' logged into all the apps yet, so I'm assuming they stay at base size until log in (such as maps, netflix, hbogo, etc...). I did a couple things different, I am no longer syncing all the contacts from my 3 google accounts, and I eliminated an app that I probably won't use as much anymore.
I don't have time again right now to re-wipe the phone but I'll try that right after a wipe in the next couple days. Just so I don't mess up again, I should factory wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, install cm11 and gapps, but then as soon as terminal emulator loads back up run those commands to see if it actually cleared things, or should I stop all the restore from google and pull only terminal emulator for this? What's going to be the most diagnostic?
Do you think switching from clockwork recovery to TWRP make a difference? Do you have a preference in one over the other?

If you're worried about that time to restore after a wipe you can take a backup and wipe and run those commands from terminal emulator before signing into google. Then after getting the needed info restore your backup.
Clockwork vs TWRP comes down to personal preference. They both implement the same recovery commands and probably also use the same exact wipe commands internally. So there's no real difference other than ui. TWRP has had some funky builds on the inc though so I recommend clockworkmod for the Inc.
Fyi factory reset clears dalvik and cache too so no need to do those separately.

Oh cool, never thought of that, I've only ever upgraded as a result of running out of space or things slowing down so I've never really wanted to back up and restore those before.
Right... So factory wipe
install cm11/gapps
only terminal emulator installed...
/data size 748M Used 109.8M Free 638.2M
/data/data size 149M Used 29.3M Free 119.7M
Although this is a huge decrease...
connecting as USB shows that basically all of the files on the phone itself remain, so the factory reset essentially doesn't wipe any of the data from the phone?????
Thanks again!
When I did the restore, it brought back things for me, but caused a severe amount of instability and everything force quit on me. lost my launchers can't get to apps... and it keeps auto quitting google media services every 5 seconds... not sure if this is indicative of a different problem or just how precarious everything is on my device. Anyway, factory reset, and now back to the google restore...
Oh... a couple more questions.
1) when I factory restore this way it should wipe out other data like my set up wifi networks? (it doesn't)
2) what about other app data? things like my sonos app after the factor reset didn't even need to be set up again... I find this odd

If you factory reset, you should have zero apps aside from the apps built into the Rom and gapps and all your settings reset. If that's not that case something is wrong.

Well.. that's good to know, looks like I won't be able to just factory reset and pass the phone along when I'm done with it... Gonna have to take a hammer and giant magnet to it! Did the memory look better on the reset though?

putting a magnet to a piece of flash storage does not destroy it, also from that used info it looks like it is just the data from the gapps... Try going into recovery and doing an advanced wipe, then checking everything but external sd and swiping to wipe
So it seems like we never really came to a solution here.
Has anyone tried increasing the sizes of these partitions. The /data/data only being 150mb is really limiting. Facebook likes to take 50mbs on it's own. I wondered if it would be possible to increase the storage of the internal partition and that /data/data folder. For most of us the purchasing of a large SD card for storing music and pictures and stuff is no big deal, if I could devote more of the internal storage to applications that would be awesome.

Whatsapp Service Gets Terminated

I'm running NitrogenOS, without any modifications. I don't have any battery saving apps as far as I know. Whatsapp's data isn't restricted, and I've checked the settings there is nothing that can restrict Whatsapp. It is allowed to run in background. It's been 8 hours and Whatsapp has been working for only one hour. There is no wakelock blocked, I've resetted applications preferences to see if that solves it, it didn't. I also had this issue in Nougat running Resurrection Remix. I was running Nitrogen first, there was no problem, then I clean flashed Cardinal Xtended and it worked fine too. I wanted to go back to Nitrogen so I wiped the system and flashed Nitrogen. I didn't wipe data because I didn't wanted to start over. May that be causing a problem? I'm really lost and I don't know what to do.

Nope it's the same whatsapp data that was left over from the previous ROM (Cardinal Xtended). Will keeping the data from a previous ROM installation cause a problem?

Your issue was the dirty flash. This is the reason people tell you not to do it.
Starting over all the time is part of flashing roms. Get used to it. This is also part of the reason most devs keep their device very minimal when it comes to apps. Most devs I know only install like 5 apps on top of stock because they have to reset all the time.

Starting over all the time is part of flashing roms. Get used to it. This is also part of the reason most devs keep their device very minimal when it comes to apps. Most devs I know only install like 5 apps on top of stock because they have to reset all the time.
