Push lets you know when there is an update for samsung app store& services..The Samsung Push service provides the notification service only for Samsung services(ex : ChatON, Samsung Apps) on Samsung devices.
If you delete the Samsung push service, you may not receive the new notification message. btw the comments are a joke. ( freeze it in titanium )

This happened to the first AllShareCast Dongle S/W Update too. As I recall, Samsung initially provided only a one or two sentence description --- the ensuing comments were quite hilarious.

Added a "review" yesterday as well. Hilarious comments.

From what I could tell, it's also necessary for their "Find my mobile" functions. Which unfortunately includes an untoggleable notification that essentially says "Hey thief! I'm trying to find you!"

I believe it is so legitimate users know that someone may be tracking them as well.

This is old throat but I thought to update:
I have tested and this doesn't seem to apply anymore. When I click "Find my mobile" it seems it locate it but doesn't notify in the phone screen.
Samsung android 4.2
The only reason I use the Samsung Push is it seems it eats a bit less battery ad it's practically dormant unlike the other tracking and antitheft apps.

The official link to the version with the best reviews: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tmobile.selfhelp
If that doesn't pull up on your device than the developer has filtered out that specific device, most likely due to the above comment, doesnt support ICS.
Attempted to pull up on my tmo galaxy nexus and this specific app doesn't appear for the developer Tmobile. Appears they filtered out support for our device.
Probably best route is to send them an email listed as their developer contact and inquiry about support?
Hope that helps!
Damn that sucks hopefully it works soon
Thanks foe your help

Even on 2.3 it was hit or miss, especially if you were running custom ROMs.
Just make a bookmark to the MyT-Mobile page in your browser. Easy.
States on the market page that 4.0 support is coming soon - which is funny, because it used to work...

Used to work fine, all the time for me, then one day it just stopped...
If you don't trust the ics built in feature, I use the #932# in your dialer to see your data amount from tmobile..

Is my phone infected with spyware?

Hello All,
I started to get advertisements under my "notification" bar. Sometimes I would get a notification, and it is like advertising for something, and when I click on it, it attempt to access the webpage ( which I declined to continue). Is the fact that i'm getting these advertisements mean that my phone is infected with spywares? if so how do i get rid of them?
thanks

Most likely you installed a app that has advertisements some have google apps and some have ones that pop up in your notification area other then it being annoying its not necessarily spyware, find the app and uninstall it and your problem will be solved
Our you can install Rom toolbox pro from the market and block every type of ad everywhere
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Get airpush detector like the other post said. Thing about these apps that use those kinds of ads also like to thro shortcuts on your homescreen and browser. Everyone hates these apps so rather than block em, i prefer to uninstall them and not use that devs stuff again till they get the point!

Quick question relating to ads... Some come as txt. Rarely do but I get some. Any advice with those?
Sent from my SGH-T999
I think theres an sms blocker app thats supposed to be good at stopping those. Never had a need for it but have seen it mentioned a few times.
In the upcoming jb, this feature is built in.

Facebook Home coming to Note II

http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/04/facebook-home-to-hit-select-phones-on-april-12th/
I hope we are not forced to use this on our phones.
Facebook? Spacebook? Oooo that's that app I deleted from my phone and url I wiped from my brain.

I hope it's something that doesn't try and take over your phone's basic functionality. If it's just an App that doesn't do anything until you run it then that's fine with me.

It probably does run in the background on boot, unles you AutoStart it off.
On the stock-based ROMs, there's a background service called "SNS" (IIRC) that has the Facebook logo as its icon. This app probably uses that service. SNS can be safely frozen.

Thanks Skripka, that's good to know. I just got my Note 2 and am relatively new to Android in general. When you say frozen, does that mean disabled?

IIRC, SNS cannot be disabled via Manage Apps....It must be "frozen" (disabled) via a root tool like Titanium Backup.
*I don't for for sure what services this new Faceplant app uses...I'm just guessing. Not on the Faceplant, and not going to join just to find out.

My thoughts exactly lol
I hate how they keep cramming FB and Twitter down our throats. If I wanted to let my friend know that I just took a dump, I'd call him on the phone like normal people.
I am glad to see an even greater number and diversity of apps coming to android, and specifically the Note2. That said, Facebook Home will never have an opportunity to afflict my Note2.
Would be promising if it weren't made by Facebook. The app alone is lucky to still be installed.

Why is everybody attacking this? It's an optional app, no more intrusive than any other app on the market. Download it if you want to give it ago, uninstall it if you don't like it.
Anyone find it in the market yet? The facebook app had an update but when I go to settings and enable facebook home it takes me to Google play and says item not found.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Technically they're mixing old new and conspiracies. Obviously you'll get a virus by installing a weird app but if you have an Android you'd already be smart enough to know what apps are dangerous. Also the permissions the app has are shown when you install an app so you know if an app is actually a virus or something.
I went overboard but whateva

It is an issue, but the scare around it is a bit exaggerated. Basically what could happen is it's technically possible for someone to replace a real app with fake version that your phone would think is the real thing. However, two things would have to happen first. 1) You'd have to get the apk from an untrusted source (there's no evidence it'd be possibly to replace an existing app with a modified one in the Market) and 2) You'd have to agree to the permissions it's requesting (which would generally be expanded ones if it was doing something malicious)
For example:
You have AwesomeGame installed on your phone, and it's awesome. One day, someone sends you a link to an "update" that give you infinite AwesomeBOMBs in-game that points to a website. You go to HAx0RS1TE.com and download AwesomeGame, but a hacked version. You install it and Android still thinks it's the original, so it could have access to any permissions you originally gave AwesomeGame, as well as any new permissions you agreed to when you installed the update from haxorsite. So if AwesomeGame could send SMSs (so share your AwesomeScores with friends), the hacked version could also use SMS to send texts to subscribe you to Cat Facts.
If you get your updates only from the Market, you should be safe, but you should always watch out for apps suddenly requesting large numbers of odd permissions.

Same here.
Just shows how much "control" they have over our devices!
I could see ADM being a big deal for Nexus owners or people who own phones that the manufacturer doesn't provide a wipe/tracking feature for. Samsung's Find My Mobile (ex-Dive) has been around for two years and has more features than Google's ADM. Does anyone see any features or benefits ADM provides over Find My Mobile?

And notification's a bad thing? What if someone hacks your Google account and is tracking you via ADM or maliciously sends a wipe command to your phone? Without any notification you'd have no idea. The first thing I'd do on FMM if I truly lost my phone is remote lock it, even before tracking it. The lock command you send to the device allows you to have a 100 character message appear on the lock screen along with a number to call about returning the phone. Which by the way isn't something you can even do (yet) with ADM. Once it's locked the person who finds it (or stole it) can't do anything with it including turning off its wireless signal(s) or reading notifications. And if the phone's in your possession and you track it, ring it or pull a call log who cares that there's a notification? I kind of see your point though in that if the phone's been intentionally stolen the thief could see the FMM tracking notice in the notification bar (there's no audible alert) if the phone wasn't locked first. But a thief that knows Android would immediately hard reset the phone (or disable Wi-Fi and mobile data) right after stealing it which renders both ADM and FMM useless anyway.
It's useless if ur phone is stolen. But very useful if u forgot where u placed your phone. Getting it to ring enables me to find My phone much easier instead of calling myself
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
All of this is useless because it is enough for someone that steals/finds your phone to take out the SIM card and no way any software can tell you where it is... so it is very limited help.
Will this require the internet to be turned on my phone?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
Yup. It basically connects to your samsung account which your phone is logged on to. A hard reset will remove your samsung account login details so this is really useless if stolen.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
What about hardreset? Will ADM survive from a hardreset?
Don't expect too much since it's an added free feature. I'm personally using Cerberus which have full of features and I don't compare the two side by side. Maybe you don't need it now but this small new feature will be of help when you really need it.
