Hey guys!
I am thinking about buying this phone and want to know how the Roms are for this phone? Are there bugs? Well working cm10.1 is very important for me!!
Scan through the original android development and android development sections.
Cm-10.1 is stable as a mountain!! Also our AOSP and AOKP builds are in really good state and in active development.

How is gaming performance? Is the battery ok?
I guess it's OK. At least nfs most wanted runs well.
You can't however get gaming performance and good battery life at the same time.
If you don't play a lot, you can squeeze maybe 4 hours of screen time.

most hox i have seen only get between 2 - 3 hours, i get 4 -5 with a custom kernel and i've tweaked it alot.
the JB custom kernels have a GPU clock of 520 MHz stock (why it is from HTC) is 416 MHz, you can also OC the RAM from 667 to 800 MHz.
but like said more to overclock the faster the battery goes.
TBH i used to disable 2 cores and run it with stock 416 GPU and it was smooth as butter.
I gave up trying to put CM10.1 on my HOX custom boot.img and all that.
Been using IceColdJelly for the last couple of weeks and it has to be the nicest rom I have ever used, even after CM10 and Android Revolution HD.
Hi guys,
I'm fairly new to HOX custom ROMs having switched over from my Nexus One last month, which would be the recommended ROMs to check out? Just unlocked my bootloader and contemplating the various ROMs and could use some input here. It would be nice to have some of the Sense 5 stuff too if there're any with em...
Oh and how do I get photosphere functionality on my HOX?
Thanks in advance!
On stock AOSP with single core 1.5ghz and Xperia Z launcher. Smooth as butter and no lags at all. Very slight random stutter in games. Getting about 3.5-5 hours of screen time depending on usage but mostly around 4.5 hours

According to your experience, which of these two kernel is better for stand by and on screen time please?
Thanks

I would say there's not much difference in battery life but I do find Franco is buggy with random reboots and slow reactions every now and then. Faux performance wise is spot on quick fairly good battery but downside is wen playing a game with decent graphics it heats up quite quick.

franco hasnt updated his kernel for at least a month. used to really love his kernels, but seems as if hes losing interest in us unless some new stuff from htc comes out. On the other hand, faux is really giving us spetacular stuff with his kernels atm, try it.
Press THANKS if I helped.
simple answer mate..faux...franco has always been a sammy boy and by the looks of things his project looks dead and buried...wished i never got his app but anyway...faux for me and hopefully show-p can fix the issue with s2w and there you have two good kernels..not much of a variety really but faux all the way for me or stock
+1 for faux, especially for gaming with his GPU OC

Faux is EPIC and rock stable
i dream of HTC including it as stock
How does faux compare to stock in battery/stability/performance, how much is it overclockable / undervoltable?

no need for OC, perfomance is over 200% in games on Faux
all you need is to tweak the governor values, check the performance guide in my signature
we have GPU unlocked back to 520mhz
all the drivers update from the Nvidia linux 3.1 repo
all the drivers and fixes from HTC latest sources
Heat is reduced away from the touch screen
rock stable as stock!
UV is allowed -100mV is the maximum allowed on Tegra3
screen on times around 3 hours
in other words, THE kernel for the One X, also faux is always around he doesn't disappear

I'm not really interested in gaming. Am I right in saying the screen on time on stock is about 4 hours so the battery is better on stock?

well im not a good judge about battery because i keep over driving my One X
try it i think it will match it without gaming
sleep times are as incredible as stock 2.05
benchmark scores are as high as Tegra 33 on the Transformer infinity

I'm using Franco R12 after faux 005b1 and I'm very impressed by the low consumption of this kernel. It's maybe a little less smooth but I'm not a big gamer so it's enough for me.
I'm waiting for the next faux kernel which always have good surprises like the 005b1...
which kernel is the best in terms gaming and browsing. basically my main concern is the battery life. i am using ARHD 8.!. i occasionally play games like stick cricket, temple run, fruit ninja etc. small games. few minutes of browsing. maybe 30mins. please suggest me a better kernel. will do if its none of faux or franco.
I find faux kernels to be very good at performance, but not excellent at battery life. Franco i have used only once, and found it a little buggy, but decent performance. In my opinion, stock kernel is the best one, especially for battery life (I'm not a hardcore gamer).
I've been using Faux 010m for some time now and I find to be very stable and offers great performance. I really don't notice battery life that much, but in general, my battery time is decent.
So yeah, +1 faux
What is the best kernel for getting the best battery life? I have tried many and the most screen time I am able to achieve is 3-4 hours. This is better than most users but I am sure that getting 5 hours could be done with a kernel that has proper power savings. The phone is overpowered and ramps up its cpu for simple tasks like sending whatsapps. Also is there a kernel/rom combo for achieving the best battery life that work great together? So far the best for me was the Renovate 3.0 rom running a stock kernel reaching 4 hours of screen time. I am currently running maXimus 2.2 with faux 006m and getting around 3 and a half hours of screen time.
Thanks,

Yes and even purchased his app to see if turning off cores and under clocking would help. His kernel has some serious wifi issues so I could not keep it. But also the cores would turn on even when they are set not to. Seems that it is not perfected yet.

i diint want to open a new thread neither i want to hijack this thread. my questions is somewhat similar to the opening post with only few changes. i like to play games in this awesome screen. i use wifi for an hour or so. i need 12 hrs of battery life with around 30mins of light gaming (temple run/stick cricket/fruit ninja etc) what romand kernel should i use which would give me optimum battery life? currently i am on ARHD8.1 with stock kernel.
Try n3ocort3x's kernels. He's developing his kernels for the most battery life without compromising the ui smoothness and performance. Does pretty well on sticking your custom underclocked values and does a great job on undervolting.

I saw this but it says 1.29 base for stock rom. I am running the 2.15 leak. Maybe I will put a JB build using his kernel repacked for one.
I just installed MIUI (2.8.10 version) and noticed that the device gets REALLY hot when using it for a little bit of browsing and sending text messages.
Now as much as I know it is caused by the newest Build of HTC, therefore every other ROM that is based on the newest release of HTC suffers from this heat development.
Can anyone give me some feedback how this heat development is on other ROMs like the Android Revolution ROM or any other sense-based ROM?
Are the CM9/CM10 based Roms also affected by this issue? Maybe a better kernel can solve this? If yes.... any recommendation? --> looking for low temperature and long battery life... not interested in OC.

What? People are saying heat is the cause of the latest official firmware (2.17)? I've browsed on ARHD rom today for around 30 minutes early this morning and to be honest i was astonished by how great the heat management is. The highest i've had my HoX reach with browsing, texting and calling on version 2.17 is 36 degrees Celsius. Simply amazing!

Yep, that really is amazing. I'm sitting in my office (it's an air-conditioned room, so not very hot) and my HOX just lays there in front of me and is at 40.8 °C. Just from lying there and doing nothing.
So therefore to get better (lower) temperature we need to use pre 2.17 ROMs? I hope that HTC will fix this soon!

2.17 greatly reduced heat generation and battery consumption compared to previous builds, what are you guys smoking?

On Sense 4.0/4.1 and EvolutionHD, i notice very hot HOX under regular work. Ok i understandi it's quad ~ 1.5, but can some lighter ROM decrease temp, or what use to simply undervolt CPU (maybe GPU) at all stages? I don't have plan to underclockit and make it slower.
When udervolt my phone only get hot when charging and usin when of charge I can use it as much as I like and hardly gets warm and battery life better and I haven't lost any performance

Hey guys
I'm a owner of a LG Optimus 4X and just like you guys we have issues in ICS with some games with dropped frame rates and lags, especially in gameloft games...
I know that nVidia updated (finally) their sources for Tegra 3 in Jelly Bean and finally supporting the 3.x.x kernel tree...
Did it get any better? Are games finally running good?
Our hope is that Jelly Bean with a new kernel can save us...
Thanks!
I guess this is the best way to put it. I'm using ICS hox (stuck with h3g so no jb for me >.< ) anyway my cousin is using JB hox ,so in simple operations ( no games ) his hox is way faster ,but if we get into NFS MW hes HoX laggs constantly while mine laggs only on 1 map for around 10 sec with car road block every other map works perfect. Also i must mention he is using stock kernel while i'm using NCX 1.2 ghz kernel and undervolted -250 at some freqs, so it's kinda wierd that my phone works at 1.1ghz (4 cores ) and doesn't lag lol. Also i don't use any scripts for NFSMW for boosting it up. And lastly when i use faux's kernel 11VF 1.6ghz and renovate gaming boost my phone is nearly fast as his in almost everything, as for games mine is clearly way faster, tho battery dies in 2 hours or less lol. As for Modern Combat 4 he has some FPS drops but playable while for me works great. Btw if your device isn't HoX doesn't mean it will be the same for you + since now kernel source is realeased i'm sure when our great devs start making custom kernels JB will be way better then ICS. Hope this answeres your question and helps =)
Not sure but NFS MW runs way better on my note 10.1

Anyone else?
We are hoping that Jelly Bean and it's 3.x.x kernel can save us...
Hey guys, so I've been using CM11 M4 on my Galaxy Nexus and its smooth but it gets the hiccup lags a lot nowadays and every time I wipe the phone it works buttery smooth but then a few days later it lags again. I'm also running Franco's kernel @1.2Ghz on both cores. I've tried other kernels but Franco's is the best experience for me right now. So if anyone has ROM suggestions and its a Kit Kat ROM, I'd be great to have recommendations for ROMs. Thanks.
Another thread asking for ROM preferences?
Speed and battery life depends heavily on how you use the device, and from that perspective, you're better off trying the ROMs that you think might be fast and see for yourself. I always stick to CM nightlies + Franco @ 1.5GHz and my GNex runs fast enough for a WiFi hotspot session
Sent from Google Nexus 4 @ CM11
Try Paranoid Android with their stock kernel. It has some tweaks from Franko. Use also lag fix and Greenify
I know what you mean - having tried a few different ROMS in the past on my gnexus it always seemed to get a little chuggy after a short while. I researched a tonne a while back and apparently it's a TRIM issue (which was also apparently addressed in 4.3). I haven't had too many problems in a while but I do find that Facebook Messenger will choke now and again.
I've also used lagfix - seemed to work a treat. ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grilledmonkey.lagfix
Have you tried different launchers?
Try Remix ROM, it's fast and stable.

Try Setting CPU speed
I tried many roms but they all were same and some of them were laggy and buggy...
Then i again installed cynogenmod and i changed the cpu speed to min 1600 and max 1600 so that it always stays at max speed and it was lightning fast 0.0

anything that isn't 4.3 roms will fly on gnex
I had major ram leakage on most 4.3 roms, causing SERIOUS lag after couple hrs on.
installed commotio last night, all is well again. I don't use carrier network anymore, and have three batteries(used to have four lol, one took a dump) so I oc to1.8ghz (no uv..no point imho) and it is stable for me.
it's fast enough even at 1.2 but I like big numbers so oh well lol
