Please help...g sensor on my One X is not working....
I have tried calibrating G sensor in safe mode, rebooting, factory reset, reverting back to stock but nothing seems to be working.
You seem to have one of the HOXs with the Invensense sensors inside, controlled by a Invensense MPU 3050 chip. Newer HOXs use Panasonic sensors if I'm not mistaken.
You won't like this, but there's really nothing you can do. It's not exactly a hardware defect, it's caused by a race condition. Apparently the MPU 3050 has this funny little quirk where it keeps some electronic charge even when the device is powered off, and when it powers back on too quickly the chip doesn't properly initialize, causing the sensors to be present for the system (you can check this with Elixir, it's free on the market, it will show all your sensors) but non functioning.
The only "solution" I found to this was in a forum for Acer A500 owners (same MPU in those things). Switch off all orientation control and whatnot, like auto-rotate etc, then turn your phone off entirely and let it sit for at least 5 minutes, maybe 10 just to make sure. This is more of a hit and miss approach, but definitely worth a shot.
I have the same problem. Tried flashing diffrent kernels and roms, reverted to stock with nandroid backup and with ruu files. Rebooting in safe mode, calibrating. Nothing helps. It seems the only solution is like AcoQ said, turn off hox and turn it on after few minutes. I do not have warranty any more so no replacement from HTC... It happend to me yesterday after flashing new rom and kernel. Now after restart sonsors are dead, another restart and all of them work, restart - dead, restart - work and so on
Don't use any power saving app. Even the power save mode in stock rom. Delete all the power saving apps and cache files from app settings. and restart. Hope start works!
I also had problems with g sensor. Nothing seemed to work. Reverted to stock. Then tried this solution I found.
Reboot the phone with power + volume up. Hold them.
Let it reboot three times (the solution showed one time, but it only worked for me after a couple).
Now release the power button and hold the volume up during the whole boot sequence.
I don't know what the exact physics is behind it, but it should reset some things. This was the only solution which helped, and actually worked for me after trying all the other things
Good luck

even m suffering from same prob
my auto rotate stops working all of a sudden
i was on arhd 21
please help tried reflashing RUU but no help
Now with Sense 5 ROMs,Camera force closes for devices which are having this sensor issue. Seems camera drivers needs gyroscope to work properly.
Will roll back to CM10.2 nightlies. Atleast the problem isn't noticeble in AOSP ROMs.
I have the same problem and I am using ARHD 32.2 please help!! :crying:
Try This
Try My Tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420209 hope it work fine for you

It worked for my HTC One X in a moment, and it works perfectly even after you powerdown device
Solution is the best i found in this 5 days of horror with my HTC One X camera and sensors not working!
Now it works all perfect!!
I had the same problem while running viperX 4.0.6 and tried all the various hit and miss techniques and they would restore the sensors and camera for at best a week. Tried flashing different roms too. Then I decided to try a KitKat rom and went with AOSB Project http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678836 and I have not had a single fault since.
I'm not sure if it had something to do with the KK recovery, ROM, combination of both or jst coincidence?

Dear Friend,
Don't try flashing or Installing ROMs. Its an unknown error. You can have the solution I mentioned below. Try this friend.
Its an unknown error of HTC one X. I also discovered it. When it was ICS 4.0.3 it was very good. After updating to 4.2.2 Jelly Bean the problem happened. Please follow my instruction that may help you. When you will find your G sensor calibration stopped.
1. Just Disable Auto rotation from Setting--> Display Gestures & Buttons. Or you can disable your Auto Rotation from anywhere you can find in your device setting. Just Uncheck the Auto Rotation.
2. Power Off your HTC one X. Remember No Restart. Just Power Off.
3. Leave it for 10 minutes or 20 Minutes.
4. Now restart and see what is happening. Your G sensor is working or not. You may go to Camera you will find it is Auto rotating. Leave your Auto rotation Setting. Just open the Camera and see Auto rotation is working or not.
5. If it is OK now you can check Auto rotation if you want to open browser in Landscape Mode.
6. If you failed or you have the same problem you just Go to the Power and Uncheck Fast boot and again follow from number 1.
I am confident because that really worked for me. I don't know it will work for you or not. I already told you this is such an unknown Error. May be a conflicting issue with HTC one X tegra Hardware to the JB 4.2.2 Android.
Thank you.

Dear Friend,
Don't be upset. Just understand. It's the fault of HTC itself that they did not care about this.
If you failed then just do it again and again. It is like if your problem is solved you can test it again. That means if your G sensor is back you can restart your phone and you will see your G sensor is gone again. It is like restart... G sensor is OK now .. again restart G sensor is gone...!!! again restart it will come back or may not come back. Again you need to restart. That's it. Restart your phone holding the power button down.. no release button..wait for the HTC logo screen. you should restart like this. Not restart from the HTC screen touch. Just hold down the power button and wait for the HTC Logo screen. The restart interval should be 10 to 20 min. Just do it. I am confirm your G sensor will be OK. Believe me.

Dear Friend,
No reboot!!!!!! Just power Off your phone for 10 to 20 min. No reboot!!!
Please try it several times if your G sensor is not fixed. At first I tried it for several times when I did not get my G sensor OK. Oh. I have a mistake. You need to power off the phone. Not restart. Oh dear I am sorry. You need to power off your phone for 10 to 20 min. Wait for 10 to 20 min and then Power on your phone. You will see your G sensor is working now. The previous post I just want to make you sure that If your G sensor is OK and if you again restart your phone you will see your G sensor is Gone again. So you need to Power Off your phone again for 10 to 20 min. No Restart. Just power Off. It was a great mistake to my previous post and so I am really sorry. It will be Power OFF your phone for 10 to 20 min. Then power ON your phone. If you not Get back your G sensor OK then you need power off your phone again for 10 to 20 min. You will get back your G sensor I am confident. Because My HTC one X also doing this ****. My G sensor is OK now. If I restart my phone for any reason My G sensor gets stop totally and receive no Calibration. It says calibration Stopped. So I just do power Off my phone for 10 to 20 min and then I switch ON my phone. The I see that My G sensor is OK. Even my calibration also works. If after switching ON my phone if I get that My G sensor is not OK then I just power off my Phone for another 10 to 20 min and then I Power on my Phone and I find that My G sensor is OK. It really happens. And I found many posts about this and even I flashed my Phone and nothing made my G sensor OK. Its the unknown software fault that HTC did not solve it for HTC one X. They will not do I think. Even you will not be updated above to 4.2.2. Again I am telling you just switch OFF your phone for 10 to 20 Min. Then switch ON your phone. If you not get G sensor Back then again switch OFF your phone for another 10 to 20 min. You will definitely get back your G sensor. Again if you restart your phone for any reason you may find that your G sensor is gone again. So again you need to switch OFF your phone for 10 -20 min and switch ON your phone. If you not get again do it. You will get back your G sensor. But Actually how many times you need to do it also unknown. If I find My G sensor is not OK after 20 min stopped I just do it again. Maximum second time it solved my G sensor. It may take longer. I sometimes have my problem solved in a single try or second time. It may take longer for you or you may have this solved with a single try.
I would like to share my experience about the problem with the sensors of the HTC One X.

7. I tried to kill all apps in task manager and it did not help. The sensors are still not recognized.
8. I tried to power off after disabling fastboot and orientation from power settings. Interval waited 10-20 minutes and it did not help. The sensors are still not recognized.
9. Try using FLAC formats as they are huge in size and it did not help. The sensors are still not recognized.
10. The only way that I can come back to life sensors is to use the program from Google Play - Stability Test. Run of classic and wait until the temperature rises to 44-45 degrees Celsius. Then immediately reboot phone and sensors are activated (by this method have a 95% success rate), but after restart or turn off the phone after disabling fastboot the sensors are still not recognized. The most interesting thing is that after this procedure if you do not reboot or shut down the phone all sensors work properly.
If someone has tried something different and has helped him to return sensors to life even after restart can share.
This is for now. If you learn some more valuable information will be shared here and wherever raise the issue of this problem.
I hope to come away with making a decision that will help us all to deal with this problem.
Greetings to all.

The 10 is the only method that works now for me.
Before, the trick of power off and power on had worked but does not work anymore.
Is annoying, you know that if you restart the phone you run out sensors...

hi to all
i search in this thread but no have any solution. i bought one x.... phone is fantastic but auto rotation not present... i've try all (reboot service mode, enable and disable option....) but i haven't find solution for this problem... calibration functional.someone found solution or this is a hardware problem???? thanks for any suggestions and sorry for my bad english
Auto rotation in apps or at the homescreen/launcher?
Apps should work.
Homescreen/launcher - HTC Sense doesn't allow automatic rotation. You've to use an app such as Rotation Locker.
When you play a game that uses tilt controls (try Temple Run if you haven't got one), does the tilting work?
I know some One Xs had bad g-sensors that would stop working. See if it is that, and get it replaced if that is the problem.

Dear Friend,
Its an unknown error of HTC one X.
Thank you.
All of the sudden my screen wouldn't auto rotate in both apps and normal interface, i haven't downloaded any app recently so i don't think it is caused by an app.
Things i've done to try and fix it: - turn auto-rotate off\on in quicksettings notification bar, did the same in screen settings and again in accessibility
- calibrated g-sensor, which doesn't give any errors
- rebooted phone after calibration or auto-rotate setting change(multiple times)
- downloaded phone tester app and it can't find the g-sensor
I'm on the last update of Suprimou rom with titanium kiss kernel and have been on this rom for a few months now.
Any suggestions?

Hope ur g sensor starts working and this s*** doesn't happen with me and other HOV users..
Thanks, im trying some methods out now, really want it to work again because i don't think htc would like it if i'd send a phone in with unlocked bootloader and this kind of problem.
Update, It's working again! not sure how long it will work.
I rebooted several times while holding down volume up button, then turn it off and let it sit for 10 min.
Now it's working
happened same thing to me so returned to the stock then it was fine now again I'am rooted

Specifically Double tap to wake up & sleep.
I realize I am supposed to hold onto the phone but it still does not work.
It's seemed a bit finnicky to me. It seems to work when I need it to, but if I'm just messing around it sometimes doesn't. I just calibrated the G-Sensor in display settings. Maybe that will help?
I did actually, twice, each on different leveled surfaces.
Phone must be held in portrait mode, or with the top slightly elevated when you double tap. I think it also doesn't work in power saving mode

my friends htc one m9 is having the same issue.... gestures aren't working when the screen is off. Auto rotation isn't working either
The calibration sensor moving left to right isn't working...
This was after I updated the firmware to 1.32.401.17.. Anyone else having this issue?
I've noticed that my M9 only double taps to sleep if its in the lock screen. Is that what its suppose to do? It won't sleep if it's not in the lock screen.
If the phone is on the desk I nudge it slightly so it rotates a tiny bit to the left or right before double tapping to wake. You have to be in the lock screen to double tap to sleep.
Double tap works fine for me. If you don't move the phone beforehand, triple tap will wake it.

So peeps, I was having the exact same problem as op, narrowed it down to the latest HTC lockscreen update from play store, go back to stock version of the lockscreen and try it out, mine works now perfectly, left some feedback on the play store for HTC on the update. Try it see if it helps any ?

I am having the same issues. My auto rotate does not work even though it is turned on. Also, my double tap to turn on and off does not work. They both worked just fine for the first couple days and then suddenly no longer work. I can't think of anything I could've done to cause this.

It just started working again, we updated the firmware and assumed it was that. But it wasn't it seems... see if you are updated to the latest HTC service pack, etc
I have the same issue, it has started when I updated to the last AT&T Software from the HTC website and I tried reinstalling, resetting to factory setup but it still not working
Same here, it stopped working when I updated to latest AT&T by RUU.
It was working fine without any issues when I was using a custom ROM ViperOne.
Auto-rotate works fine, it's just the double tap to wake and camera launch (landscape + volume up) don't work.
I tried calibrating g-sensor twice, still not working. Factory reset didn't fix.
I am 100% sure it's a software bug. Hope they fix.
Edit: HTC Released an update on the Play Store and has supposedly fixed it.
Same here After update
I am having this problem as well. Gestures stopped working when the screen is off as soon as I installed the newest AT&T firmware update. All of my apps are up to date and the phone is not rooted. I purchased it two weeks ago. I performed a factory reset after I updated firmware to make sure everything was in order.

That is not the latest AT&T update. It should be 2.11.502.18. Have you checked the Play Store to see if you have the latest version of motion launch? Search for HTC Motion Launch. If you do, I would look into updating the AT&T software to the latest to see if that helps.
on an international phone i had the same problem on first boot, but after a reboot, everything worked fine..
I also..my new m9 (since now stock) wake gesture fail frequently !!!!
In power saver mode totally....incredible!!!
Any solution?
Double tap to wake seems to look at the proximity sensor too to check it isn't in your pocket. Make sure nothing is covering it, such as your case if you use one.
My display does not timeout and it might be related to something to do with the asus cover detection. Kills my battery because if some notification or alert happens to turn on the screen after I maually turned it off, it will not timeout again.
Howerver, I don't have a cover or anything but having this bizarre issue when the asus cover option is turned on my display constantly but sporadically flashes off and on. If the asus cover option is unchecked/disabled then the phone SEEMS to work normally until I get a call. The proximity kicks in but then the display turns itself back on. I installed sensor box and the proximity seems to work just fine -- nothing errant. Same applies for all the other sensors including the magnometer which does 35uT which seems right for my part of the world.
Did factory resets, cleared cache partitions, reinstalled stock roms etc... toggled the display timeout settings etc..nothing there.
Finally installed bettery battery stats and checked adb so it seems like some process is going crazy but I'm not sure if this is normal behaviour for the device or not.
But if its a rogue process anyone know how to kill it or whatever?
Attached is screenshot from battery stats and logcat

Could you try uninstalling ASUS Cover to see if that makes any difference, or just disable the app? If it happens again, after uninstalling, you can rule it out.
I tried that before, still same thing. I also got a very strong magnet to see if I could somehow recalibrate the magnetic sensor in case that's what the cover uses for detection. That didn't seem to work. Sensor box shows the proximity and magentic sensor seem to be operating normally though....

That seems very strange. Let me forward the issue to our service team to see if they can assist!
---------- Post added at 10:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:43 AM ----------
Here is the response from our customer service team:
Does the customer have a screen protector (Not a flip cover) that may hinder the proximity sensor’s accuracy?
Does the customer have the latest firmware WW-(V2.20.40.90_20150903_4959). To update FW/Build connect to wifi, go under APPS-SETTINGS-ABOUT-SYSTEM UPDATE make sure battery is >50% before updating.
There is a patch on our latest builds/FW for Asus Cover app that fixes stability.
Some things to also try – Wipe Cache and recovery to retest it from our FAQ - https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1006346
If these do not work ask for a screenshot for the build number if you can for us to look deeper into. VOL_DOWN + POWER BUTTON simultaneously take a screenshot under APPS-SETTINGS-ABOUT-SOFTWARE INFORMATION
will try suggestions...
@ASUS_Khang
Man thanks for your help with this.
I do have a screen protector but the aperature is pretty large so I doubt that's interferring. However, I get the same screen flashing off and on when I'm on an active call which would suggest some proximity type issue. SensorBox would suggest the prox sensor is working fine though
I'll update my firmware again after a factory reset just in case the most recent build corrects something.
Thanks again for your help though! I'll report back :fingers-crossed:

No luck...still getting my screen constantly flashing off and on when I enable smart cover. Tried factory wipe/reset and flashing the latest build. Attached is the screenshot request.
Per chance can you send the support team the logcat that I attached in the 1st post of the thread? Maybe it might be helpful in picking up what was wrong?

Hey guys, I am facing same problem with my Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML. My screen doesn't get timed out automatically. At first it started with Asus Cover, I was not using the cover but screen was getting on - off itself. Proximity sensor doesn't work properly and screen doesn't get timed out by itself. I have disabled the Asus Cover option from Settings but still Screen timeout not working.
Did anything worked here?
@ASUS_Khang Do you know what can fix my problem?
Bought ZenFone 2 ZE551ML a couple months ago and the screen protector and case from Asus all at the same time. Asus cover turned itself on and I have had problems since then. I do not own or use the asus cover. When this happened, I turned asus cover off and since then, can not make or receive calls. I cleaned the cache, did a factory reset, and removed the screen protector. None of these "fixes" worked. I can make a call but then the screen freezes after 2 pulsations and restarts into a boot loop. I see incoming calls but can not answer them because the phone freezes and restarts. No sound heard during calls for outgoing and incoming calls. Everything is updated already!!!
Same problem here. is this issue have been solved? how? thanks in advance...

My workaround involved getting xposed framework and installing a module called magnet off. In essence it disables the hal sensor which was likely damaged somehow. So flip cover is disabled and my screen times out properly.
Can you explain how you installed it plz step by step I am also facing same problem p

PROBLEM
After flashing to AOSP 6 I have problems with waking the screen up.
1. After or during the call
2. After longer sleep
It can take up to a minute to wake up. Usualy around 10-20 seconds after multiple presses (single press can sometimes doesn't wake the phone).
NO PROBLEMS WHEN:
1. I manualy sleep the screen, and press power again after a moment - I can bring it to a wake up state without any problems.
2. If the phone is connected through USB - there is also no problem to instantly bring the wakeup screen.
3. There is also no problem to bring the wakeup screen with adb
Code:
adb shell input keyevent 26
I was expecting it to be some sort of sensor problem, as it persists to other roms, even coming back to 5.1.1 which previously worked flawlessly in this department.
I've tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/opt...mpting-to-fix-broken-sensors-mm-e975-t3297566 without any results. I've also tried restoring factory settings.
Any ideas?

The sensor as far as I know is binary, so either something is in proximity or not, and as that it works correctly under any system.
After reverting to stock 4.4.2 the problem does not appear.
Installing AOSP 6 again - the problem returns.

Honestly I don't know what is the problem, but in every thread concerning wakup issues and E975 the sensors are blamed. The physical sensor is working properly as I am not having any problems running stock 4.4.2.
