Hello, I am having a weird issue. Whenever I travel 30+ minutes away from where I live my data never works. I am currently running Jellybam 7.0. I cannot connect to the network at all. I have tried with roaming on and off, and also I go and select my network and can try any of the networks listed, or have it choose automatically, still no data.
I haven't tried another ROM yet, but I'm not sure that it is a ROM issue. Has anyone else had something similar happen? My girlfriend has her GS3 stock and she will have internet and I won't. As soon as I get closer to home everything starts working like normal, but if I am far away no amount of rebooting, airplane mode or data toggling makes it work.
Suggestions?
I'll have to try a new ROM as well, just really like Jellybam.

A good friend of mine waited to receive the OTA update of Froyo for his Incredible and when he got it he installed it. The bad part that I need help with is that when his phone rebooted it wouldn't allow the 3G data network to work. That section in settings is greyed out saying "Turning on..." and will not connect. The phone portion runs just fine. I have since returned the phone back to 2.1 and the same problem persists. If someone could help us out that would be awesome!!!
This probably wasn't posted in the right section...
I had an issue with 3G not connecting after downloading the froyo OTA off the internet and applying it as an update.zip.
I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but mine seemed to be that it wouldn't switch from the wifi network to the 3G network after getting out of range of the wifi (its set to auto connect to my home wifi, so it went straight to that after I rebooted it after the update). Then it wouldn't connect with the wifi off. I think I turned off both wifi and 3G and rebooted it with them off, and then turned back on 3G, and it worked. Everything is working normally now.
I'm not really sure why this would happen, I was wondering if it possibly had something to do with the phone registering itself after the update, and then not registering the 3G because it was on wifi and sort of "forgot?" That's just idle speculation though...
Also you might want to clear out your cache.
This might not be related to your problem, but I hope it helps!

Thanks for your effort, it did not work unfortunately.
Did he happen to have anything that controls 3G installed? Tasker? Juicedefender?
If he powered off while the data we disabled, and updated, then 3G won't work. Period.
I've heard of ways of restoring the APN or something, search the forums on that.

He did not have any type of app like that. He is a very novice user. I tried searching for restoring APN with no luck, anyone else?
When I first flashed Virtuous2.0 and did the initial setup, I didn't get 3G either. I'm pretty sure a good old fashioned *228 did the trick. I did have a backup through APN Backup & Restore, but didn't need to use it.
Have you tried turning on the airport mode, rebooting, turning off airport mode. Or perhaps do a *228?

Tried this too and no luck.
Go to Verizon and tell them to fix it fix fix it fix it! If he's running stock its nothing he did. Sounds super bunk that they finally got froyo only to not be able to use 3g.
The loss of 3g data is a bug with the froyo builds. All the froyo roms and the official ota have this issue.

this just happened to my friend too. I updated his phone last week with the OTA and since then he hasn't had 3g, but wifi would work.
did a rom manager backup before hand though, so i told him to revert back, and everything is working again. not sure why flashing back didn't work for you
So he hasn't had 3g at all? He can make calls and a *228 option # 1 doesn't update his settings and reboot? Maybe something when wrong on the install, whats hboot say?
Assuming he's completely stock I'd suggest going to the Verizon store and having them try.
Hi Guys,
So, I've been using the GNex for about a month. I moved to this phone from a Moto Atrix and here is what I have noticed and have looked around but didn't see any good answers to these questions I am having. Hopefully I get some answers here.
Device info:
GNex GSM version on ATT.
Running JB 4.1.1 Stock with Trinity Kernel (rooted and bootloader unlocked).
Issue #1: I get really bad reception at work. But, when I leave the building, my phone doesn't automaticaly connect back to the network. Sometimes, if I don't check my phone, it's been like that all night long until the next day when I have tried to make a call and it said "No Network Available" and I have to either reboot or toggle airplane mode to get back on the network. Am I missing something? In my past experience with other devices, they try to automatically connect back to the network when they loose connectivity. Also, if I get in an elevator during a call and the call gets dropped due to network unavailability, it doesn't connect back to the network and I have to toggle airplane mode. Has anyone else had this issue?
Issue#2: This is with the stock mail app. Specifically the search in this mail app. No matter what, it always returns zero results. Has anyone had this issue with the Mail App? If I use the Gmail app, it works fine. That's what I am using now, but am curious as to what I may be missing that make it not return any search results in the stock mail app.
Q3: Speed Dial: How do you set speed dial on the dialer? Is it even supported?
thanks in advance,
vG

it could be to do with your radio, what version is it? baseband version in about phone. im no expert but when i flashed a jellybean rom i had to update my radio afterwards cause my signal was dropping alot. i also had the same problem later on but that was down to my network operator. before i realised it was them i googled my problem and a few forums suggested that my sim card was goosed. so maybe check those three possibilities? i cant help with the other two issues unfortunately but good luck sorting it out!

Hi I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and today I simply stopped receiving signal on it. I don't know how or why. I didn't flash anything or even use my phone at all. At one point it was working fine, then I noticed that where my signal bars should be, I have nothing but greyed out bars and an "X" on top of that. This was hours ago. I called T-Mobile(I use T-Mobile Prepay) and they had me do several things like remove battery and sim, and nothing helped. I have a custom ROM(Black Bean). I have used this ROM for weeks with no issue. Just to make sure I did a nandroid and I restored my old Stock-Rooted ROM. Still no signal. I then did a full wipe did a full wipe and installed Black Bean 3.1.2(older version which I know for a fact works fine) on a clean install. Still there is no signal. If I try to make a call, it tells me to turn off Airplane mode before making a call. But I am 100% that Airplane mode isn't on. I can go and turn it on, then back off even. Still I have no signal. I have no way of knowing if this is my phone or T-Mobile having tower problems. I called but they don't know anything since it was the pre-pay support line call center in India.
I have been generally disappointed with T-mobiles service. I would gladly give up the rest of my current month and re-subscribe to Straight Talk with ATTs Towers right now, but I'd have to get service going with them again and that would cost 45 bucks. And it's a waste if there is something wrong with my phone. So now I don't know what to do! =/
Edit: Quick update, I put in my Straight Talk SIM thinking that even if it were out of minutes, it would at least let me connect to the towers so that I can add more. Still nothing. If I hold down power(under stock) it brings up the power screen and that tells me that Airplane Mode is on even though I have it off in settings. If i click on that message, it says "Airplane Mode is OFF" but it isn't really, because if I go out and back in again, it's back to saying that it's on. However, I do have it turned off in my settings. I will also mention that WIFI does work.
Check if you activated the 2G option under Mobile settings. I had a similar issue a few weeks back. Almost drove me mad.

Sounds like your phone is the problem if there's discrepancies about whether airplane mode is on.
Hello, I am on a rooted stock Jelly Bean Telus ROM with default recovery (I flashed the rooted stock image through ODIN). Every now and then I will lose LTE even though I am in an LTE area. I try to do the trick of turning on airplane mode and turning it off to get the connection to reset. This actually doesn't do anything. HOWEVER, if I restart the phone, I get LTE back with 20 seconds. Once it restarts it can stay on LTE for a long time. Even when I get a call it'll go to 4G and then switch to LTE once I finish.
But here's the kicker. If after I restart it, get LTE, THEN switch to airplane mode and switch back, it will never, ever connect to LTE again. I have to restart the phone to get it back. I've just done a hard reset and the same problem occurs. This sounds completely ridiculous and I've tried everything. Has anyone heard of anything as absurd as this?

Had the exact same problem with a Telus rom, I dont suppose you're on ATT by any chance?. Mine wouldn't connect to the mobile data network when coming off a wifi connection and would just hang in limbo until i switch mobile data on and off. Dumped it and went to a ATT based rom, problem solved. One thing I noticed is that the APN options with the telus rom are different than ATT roms, the apn type in particular
Ask in Q&A or the sticky thread for LTE
Thanks
Hi. Not sure if anyone here can help, but I've been having serious wifi issues with my Sprint version Galaxy Tab 3 for almost a week now. The wifi signal shows that it's strong, but the network is "Turned off." I can connect back to the wifi network manually, but it just turns itself off again after another minute or two.
I deleted all the apps on it in recovery mode, and it did stay connected once everything was gone, but when going back into regular mode, the problem returned. So I factory reset the device, but the wifi "Turned off" nonsense continues.
This is not a rooted device. I've noticed that Sprint network crap comes up, but there's no way to access them outside of their popping up. One Sprint Connection app pops up but goes away almost immediately, and when I try to select it in the "open apps" list, it disappears. It also has been asking me to configure a hotspot. I select my home network and it connects for a little while, but again, just a minute or two.
Any ideas how to solve this problem? Thanks.
