Hello together
i really need your help, i think i just bricked my phone.
like the title says i got a german vodafone branded DHD which is now stuck on the white background with the green htc logo.
Original rom version: 3.13.161.5
Android 2.3.5
radio 26.14.52.27
bootloader 2.00.0027
the story:
after updating hboot to version 2.00.0029 i was able to unlock the bootloader via htc dev and the easy ace root tool.
i created a goldcard
then i started the now installed cwm and tried to install cynaogen 7.xx (dont know the version exactly)
after this the device dindt want to boot anymore or let me even enter the bootloader
i mangaged to get into the bootloader again via "adb reboot bootloader" command
then i have done the recommended "full wipe" of all caches and installed cyanogen 7.2.0 + the boot.img file and the other zip file that belongs to non-sense roms.
AND now it wont start anymore or let me acces the bootloader again, even the adb or fastboot commands don't work
i downloaded an original stock htc ruu, it doesnt recognize my phone, none of the tools does
as you can see from my post im a noob, i got the phone now for 2 days and hope i didnt brick it.
can anybody help me?
How did you flash the boot.img? What other zip are you referring to?

boot.img via cmd window, this file was named gapps-gb-20110828-signed and i understood to install this one additionally to the system image
current state of affairs:
le me idiota, didnt recognise i can pull out the battery....
now i finally figured out how to get into the bootloader again, i am even able to start clockword mod recovery and install zip files from there and also the acces via cmd window works again.
but even if i install the zip from the sd card and flash the boot image via console into the phone, the system doesnt start
my problem now is (i just think this is the problem) that i wiped all caches and therefore there is no more usb debuging enabled and the system wont start. also my hboot says it is unlocked but s-on.

this was the solution to my question, thank you forum!

Hi.
I have a problem with my DHD, and have been browsing these forums for a solution. Im new to this so i need some confirmation, a url, and some explanation.
This happend:
I tried to root my desire HD with visionary+ r14. I did temproot, got back into the app just fine, checked for "set system r/w after root", and clicked attemt permroot. The phone booted, and got stuck in a bootloop. My Hboot menu sais S-ON on top. Tried reseting factory settings nothing helps. Since i didnt get the phone rooted, no clockword recovery installed...
Phone details:
The phone had the factory 1.32 build on it.
other info that might be valid:
Hboot: 0.85.0007
microp-0438
radio-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
oct 11. 2010
1. From searching and reading, it seems i need a RUU stock image build 1.32, can anyone provide me with an URL for the correct image?
2. Can i use the bootloader on the phone to do this? ..and how?
Hope u have some time to spare, and help this niblet :=)
Thnx for reading
PS:
Before i did this, the phone was rooted, with the same visionary pluss file. I tried to install clockword recovery mod, but it wouldnt "take". I then factory reset the phone in the android recovery menu, and the rest is listed above.
Download your RUU from here: http://xdafil.es/index.php?path=DesireHD/RUU/
How do i know i have the right drivers on the pc? Do i get those drivers from installing the HTC sync program?

If you install HTC sync (download it from their website or it is also in your sdcard unless you have not removed it ), you get all the necessary drivers...
Hm, i have installed HTC sync, but as my phone is stuck on the blackscreen and red triangle, HTC sync does not detect my phone.
When i try to run the exe file "RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed", it gives me an error [170], USB connection error.
Is there a way to run this file from the bootloader?
Try to push a PD98IMG.zip (this is stock HTC 1.32 rom from this thread unrooted, hboot s-on) to the sd card, boot into bootloader and flash "new" rom
with adb:
Code:
adb push directory/to/your/PD98IMG.zip /sdcard/
adb reboot bootloader
or if adb doesn't work, put the stock rom into the top of your sdcard, reboot the phone while holding the vol-down button.
follow the instructions on the device(normally it search for the PD98IMG.zip and ask you to install it)
How importanat is the last part of the filename of the RUU file "_2 6.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed". As the phone is not bootable i cant check find that info on the phone anymore.
"Radio_12.28b.60.140e_2 6.03.02.26_M" it's the radio version.
At the bottom of this site is the USB Driver try it.
Thnx to both of u. Everything now working like a charm.
Good that you got it sorted. Can you edit the tag and put [solved]?

with an unbranded device it should be easy, download the driver and the image in the posts above, install the driver and run the exe.
On linux/unix you can download the sdk (intructions to install on the site) and then you are able to use the adb commands with the PD98IMG.img also in the posts above.
with a branded device it can be more complicated take a look at this but i don't know how far your system is online and if you are able to use adb.
As the guy above me mentioned, it's quite easy to recover your phone if it's unbranded.
Download a WWE RUU from the link someone postet before. Then boot into the bootloader and connect your DHD to your pc. If you have htc sync installed, it should recognise your phone. Then run the RUU on you pc and everything should be fine now.
Hi,
I tried to flash the standard HTC RUU so that i could send it in for repair.
It said that it couldn't flash and gave me error code 140.
Now whenever i turn on my phone it goes straight to fastboot mode which i think means there is no rom on the phone.
However the RUU overwrote my recovery and i dont have an sd reader to put a recovery update.zip on the sd card.
I want to do this so i can try and flash a rom to allow me to boot and try the RUU again.
Is there any way i can either copy files to the sd card or flash a recovery img from hboot, fastboot or recovery?
i tried using "fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img" but it just hangs the terminal, any idea why?
Thanks
this looks like it could help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531310
can anyone clarify where exactly i enter the commands.
Im in recovery (black screen with red triangle).
thanks
Not sure if that will help but you enter those commands through ABD in the CMD terminal on your PC.
I'm not sure on this but your fastboot flash might be hanging because your file might need to be in your tools folder within your Android SDK folder.
no that didnt help. I think im gonna have to wait until tomorrow and buy a card reader
thanks
With flashing an ruu you are s-on and you cannot use fastboot any more.
Make a goldcard with linux (as far as i understand you cannot boot into your phone's os any more):
http://www.nazriawang.com/2010/04/how-to-create-goldcard-with-ubuntu.html
Then put this in your desire and try to flash ruu again. It should work now.
I know that i can use the RUU because i've used it before. I think it failed because i was S off (im not sure how i was meant to S on first). I think i need to:
1. copy update.zip to sd card with a recovery in it, and a rooted rom
2. boot to recovery via update.zip
3. flash a rooted rom
4. boot into rom and then flash RUU using the exe
Is this correct? as far as i know i have to be in android to use the RUU, is this correct? If i could flash it from recovery it would save me doing step 3.
thanks
Sorry, but i do not understand you...
Please answer these questions first:
Can you boot into clockworkmod or amonra recovery?
Can you start your rom?
Which hboot do you use?
And flashing failed because of cid error i think? So why don't you create goldcard and try to flash ruu again? The programm will tell exactly what to do.
no, i can only get into the blue basic recovery. This is why i need to put update zip onto the sd card so i can access amonra.
I cant start my rom. when i turn it on normally it goes straight to the fastboot screen with 3 androids at the bottom.
HBOOT is 0.80.0000
Flashing didnt fail because of CID error because i brought my phone unlocked and i have used this exact same RUU before (its the standard HTC signed one). i dont understand how a goldcard would help as i need to be booted into a rom before i can flash the RUU. I dont think i can do it from recovery?
Thanks
"I know that i can use the RUU because i've used it before. I think it failed because i was S off (im not sure how i was meant to S on first). I think i need to:"
You don't have to be S-ON to be able to flash a RUU. The actual RUU will override anything you have done to "jailbreak" your phone: ROOT, S-OFF, Custom HBOOT, Custom Recovery (Amon RA or CWM) and restore you to basic (you'll have none of the above). This is why it is used.
If you have tried to flash the RUU and get the error, you are more than probably not ROOT-ed and S-OFF anymore so you can't install a CUSTOM ROM. This is what makes the problems even harder.
The error you got: Error 140 is Bootloader version error.
Read the second post from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268 and try to extract the PB99IMG.zip from your RUU and try to flash it from card in boot.
EDIT: Also be sure (I don't know how ) if the RUU you got has the same bootloader version as your phone. I read that this is a kind of incompatibility if it is lower than your version.
You should get the latest WWE 2.29.405.5 RUU. I think this should be compatible. Extract the PB99 and put it on root of SD.
LEDIT: if you want to mount your SD card try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531310. Maybe it helps you.
Ive tried it with RUU RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
It gives me an error "Main version is older!"
do you think this means i should try the newer version you recommended or the older version (RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122704.exe)
Thanks for your help
That has worked perfectly with the RUU you recommended. I will be keeping that image on my SD card to avoid this happening again.
Thanks

I'm glad I was able to help you and that you resolved your problem.
edit: It finally worked. I cleaned the microsd with diskpart and made a new goldcard, then I flashed a HTC WWE 2.29 Image, with the PB99IMG method. Now Im on bootloader 0.93.00. Back to business (I don't know exactly why the goldcard worked this time, or maybe the goldcard wasnt the problem)
Hello,
I tried to go back to the original state (TMobile germany branded). The phone was S-Off and rooted and I had a cm7 partition table.
At first I just tried to flash over an original T Mobile Rom (RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570a_signed.exe).
Everything worked, and after that I did put the newest OTA Update on the phone. Checking to see what bootloader I have I saw that I was still Security Off. So I flashed a downgrade HBoot from the alpharev page. After that I flashed the same T Mobile Rom again to have an original HBoot.
Somewhere in the middle of the procedure though it stopped and I was stuck in that screen with four triangles on the sides and HTC written in the middle. At first I thought now its totally bricked without hboot, but I was able to reboot into HBoot. Also i can get to fastboot and the standard recovery mode. The current Hboot is 0.80 and S-ON.
Now from there on I tried many things:
- Downgrader from xdadevelopers does not work because one has to be in a working system
- Unrevoked does need a working system
- Tried same TMobile Rom numerous times with the installer on PC (gives bootloader version wrong 140) and as update.zip in recovery mode (signature verification failed)
- Tried RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe and RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe
- I made a goldcard and tried to flash these roms from the goldcard in recovery mode
- Tried to flash the ota update I installed through recovery mode
- Also I tried all of these things with the rom.zip named as PB99IMG.zip in Bootloader
- Fastboot commands do not work, So I should have a locked Bootloader now
- The old root method with goldcard which did not work
- I tried to get into an adb shell in recovery mode with various drivers to get the cid of the sd card to make a new goldcard but the device is listed as offline
I am not really sure why the goldcard does not work, maybe my saved goldcard image got messed up for some reason. Unfortunately I can't get the cid of the phone, because I can't use adb meaning the phone is recognized with "adb devices" but shown as offline.
If there is some other way to get the cid that I have not found as of yet, that might help.
Otherwise I am out of ideas... I hope its not bricked, help is greatly appreciated
edit: official update utility tmobile rom shows that I'm coming from 2.12.110.2 and going to 1.21.110.4 so it seems like the room still exists somehow but cannot boot, bootloader starts and deletes user data, sends data, updates signature=> bootloader version error 140
Dear all, unexpectdly my phone stopped working, it hangs on white screen (HTC) then if i boot into bootloader it doesnot go into recovery , hangs on white HTC screen, then after that i place PC36IMG.zip on root of SD Card it is not detecting it either,
My desire is
PVT 4 S OFF
BRAVO Hboot 0.93
A8181
Regards. Please help me out
It Is also getting hot when i put battery In.. even i tried to flash new recovery using adb but no use, adb is not detecting any device, android 1.0 driver is installed, i was running RCMix Custom ROM. so i knowing all rooting, flashing etc things...please help out.
Regards
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

You have to flash recovery with fastboot, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (put recovery.img in same folder as fastboot)
You could also try running the RUU while booted in fastboot (just connect USB, and run RUU). I believe I did this once... Not 100% sure if it was fastboot or bootloader, just check them both...

When you want to flash ruu, your phone has to be fastboot mode, otherwise it won't get recognized.
Hello, I'm from Bulgaria, I bought a Desire HD that was with relocked bootloader. I unlocked the bootloader with htcdev.com. Now it is unlock. The phone not load any ROM, can,'t make recovery from bootloader, can't make factory reset from bootloader. I tried to flash several stock ROMs before and after unlocking, but getting a different errors. Attempted ROMs are with the same RADIO. I Tried this-
just copy the rom.zip from temp folder of your user name on pc while running that RUU at the next of second step..i mean while you double click of the RUU then you the first prompt that you must thick "Understand blah blah blah.." then click next..you must hold setup at this step..and tried search the rom.zip in your temp folder of your pc and copied to another folder..then rename it to PD98IMG.zip and put in to the root of your sd card..then boot the phone to bootloader mode..wait until bootloader reading and checking the PD98IMG.zip file..then ask you to confirm if you wanna flash it.. but without success. Stay on the white screen with grenn HTC logo when is turned on, and when I tried to make recovery or factory reset. When the stock ROM start to install (before give me a error ) the screen stay on grey HTC logo on Black screen. Can anyone help me? I attached a picture of Bootloader-

Uhh, have you actually installed recovery - if you haven't well that's why.
Go here: http://www.4ext.net/ddl/ace/recovery.zip
Extract the files
Copy recovery img to your adb.exe folder (make sure fastboot.exe is there)
Turn on your phone into fastboot mode
CD to that directory and type in "fastboot devices"
Confirm it says your serial
Then type in "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Now you have recovery (it means you can flash roms and kernels and mods and anything flashable apart from radios and firmwares)
I did this correctly, everything is OK, but now what? I tried to install stock ROM, but with no result. Here is a pictures of instalation-
now select recovery, and install ROM there

don't install stock rom or RUU again..
just installing custom rom (you can search and choice a custom rom in "Desire HD Android Development") and installing the rom.zip file from 4ext recovery (install zip from sd card)..don't forget to flashing boot.img too (flashing under FASTBOOT mode with fastboot command "fastboot flash boot boot.img").. that the boot.img are extracted from the rom.zip file that you had already installed..
hope this can help..

did you already installing 4ext recovery..?, if so..to go that recovery then you just need select Recovery from your bootloader menu..then you can installing custom rom from there..
just copied your custom rom file to the root of your sd card..this mean just placed inside your sdcard..don't placed inside any folder..then after that you can installing that rom from 4ext recovery
hope this can help..
I made this from second post, but can't see any difference in phone or bootloader. When I pushed recovery from original bootmenu, came white screen with green HTC logo with one vibration end nothing happend
Just repeat all the step in second post...just this time you show me the out put from cmd...after you typing command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

because i see you're success flashing a custom recovery that you already show me above in attchment file before...
if your bootloader are already locked..then you must unlocking again first...then after that you can continued flashing custom recovery..
Thank you ! Now the bootloader is unlocked, and I did that from the second post with already unlocked bootloader. Still nothing can I do.
just tried installing another custom recovery...just try download it TWRP recovery from here.. copied to your adb.exe and fastboot.exe folder and flashing it through FASTBOOT mode with command .. "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-ace.img"
hope this time your phone will had a custom recovery installed
good luck.

that's so weird..it must be something wrong with that phone..
what about if you try return to the stock first..?

after you find your cid num you can find the right RUU for your phone..just check it here to find what RUU you must download it..and just download it the RUU with same main version of your phone or higher version than yours..
after that just relocked your bootloader through fastboot "fastboot oem lock"...now you can continued flashing that RUU
