Hey, all. I posted a few weeks earlier about my Kindle Fire Gen 1 (still can't fine the right forum for it), and I've isolated my problem; my Kindle is stuck in the Fastboot Mode after a (probably) botched root attempt.
From what I can tell, the problem can be solved using a factory cable, or something along those lines. An identical problem was found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808214 but the solution was sent via PM. So, what exactly do I need to do to get my Kindle up and running? I've tried everything a noob can do with no luck. Still haven't gotten the factory cable and am thinking of making one for myself. Unfortunately, I don't really know much more beyond that point. Can anyone direct me?
Sorry for being such an ignorant user, but I really need this fixed and am just a mindless consumer, not a true device user.
You'll probably get a better response in this forum; http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1783
I personally know nothing about the first gen, sorry!

Simply plugging it in doesn't do nothing.
Simply plugging it in puts it into fastboot (static Kindle Fire logo) like it's supposed to. In fastboot you use fastboot commands to get the device in a usable state. If fastboot commands don't work, then it is a problem with your drivers.
All of this information and then some can be found at the link I gave you, so you should probably study it more carefully. Identifying and using fastboot mode on the Kindle Fire is such a basic task, you should be able to learn everything you need to know about it on your own, using the information that's available to you.

Can you please just help me? I've been googling for days and I'm confused like there's no tomorrow. All I know is my Kindle has been stuck on the stock orange and white screen and I have a factory cable.
The information you need has already been laid out for you, and the FAQ that I linked to was written in such a way to make finding the information you're looking for that much easier.
Q2 Links to information every Kindle Fire owner needs to know if they plan to modifying their device (it even includes an explanation on "unbricking").
Q16 Explains what it means when your device is stuck at the Kindle Fire logo and clues for getting your device fixed.
Q17 Explains a simple way to fix 90% of all Kindle Fire problems.
Q18 Links to a list of fastboot commands and a short explanation for each
Q19 Is a guide regarding fastboot, which explains how to identify and/or access fastboot mode
Q26 & Q27 Has information regarding the factory cable and how it is used.
...and various other questions have answers which clue you in to what you need to do to fix your device.
If you had a complicated problem or a question, to which the answer was hard to find, I could justify spending the time to help you figure it out. But your problem is one that has happened probably thousands of times around here. It is basic knowledge, prerequisite to modifying the Kindle Fire, and you should have already known it anyway.
Don't forget that you created this problem for yourself (not me). Therefore it is your responsibility (not mine) to fix it.
I've already gone out of the way to make that process easier by providing the FAQ in the first place, so you should (at the very least) use that information to figure out why your device is behaving the way it is, and what you need to do to fix it.
It isn't that hard. You just have to put forth the effort.

I understand, I'm very knowledgable with my Razr, so I figured I'd be able to do this easy peezy lemon squeezy. Guess not. I just keep trying things and nothing is working or else I'm just not doing it right :/

I know this has been answered but I've tried 10 million different ways on how to get the right working drivers. Can you supply me with something that is easy? I've tried installing the SDK manager, tried deleting the ADB, replugging in, and nothing still works and it still shows up as unknown device......

Hi Guys,
I've been rooting android devices for a while now, and this is the first time I've had to post up a question like this... Can't seem to get the Kindle Fire 8.9 to power on. Tried holding power down for over a minute, not dice. 20 seconds, no dice.... I've done a search and can't seem to find anyone else with a 8.9 in this situation. I reached out to SkOrPn and he mentioned for the 8.9 there is NO factory cable to push into fastboot.
Hopefully someone can shed some light?
Thanks.

Sure seems like I did... I was hoping someone could confirm I did or may have a solution.
If I did it's my first brick! Kind of funny actually. I bought it at best buy.... Hopefully they won't give me too much **** trying to return it.

If you're in warranty, you're good to go. If not, you can always go the factory cable route, see the thread in my signature for the 8.9" #6 and Step 2.

Sorry to tell you this but if a KFHD is not powering up even when charged, It's hard bricked, But don't panic.
May i ask what tool you used to root your device, Because it seems to me that you used Kindle Fire Utility KFU, I know this because failing the rooting process can cause a bootloop but will not hard brick your device the way it happened, Only a damaged bootloader can cause the device not to power up, KFU attempts to install FFF bootloader which is designed for the original kindle fire and will damage the bootloader of any 2nd generation device and hard brick it.
What you need to do right now
Ship your device ASAP to Christian Bryant (XDA username Prokennexusa), At
Xerocomm, Inc. - 1684 Northstar Drive - Petaluma CA 94954.
I talked to him and he said if you ship it now it'll be done by the end of the week.
Chris receives many kindles so make sure you send him an email at [email protected]
Good luck
Well I got tired of modifying my stock Kindle OS and getting wierd results so I tried a Second Time to Install CM10 on my KFHD 8.9 (FW 8.1.4) Followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963 Got to step 4 and at this point the damn thing hard bricked. No fast boot, No Safe boot, No boot at all just a black screen. How come everyone else can seem to get it right but me? Anyway I have already recieved 1 replacement device from Amazon, and I am quite poor and cannot afford expensive tools or another system. So My question here is 2 fold. Is there any fix for this? and if so what is the safest way to attempt TWRP and CM10? Thanks and hope to hear from somebody.

Unfortunately that Kindle is more than likely done for good. What you flashed was for a Kindle Fire 2 to your Kindle Fire HD 8.9.
Hi guys,
I have a problem with my firetv where it won't boot past the Amazon logo. This happened after restarting the system when I installed firetv Boot Menu.
Any help would be welcomed
Sorry I'm not likely to have a fix, but are you sure you unlocked boot loader before attempting to install the boot menu? This could be the cause for the brick.
Are you able to boot to recovery? If so you might be ok. I VERY TENTATIVELY say that if you can get into recovery from there either a factory reset or reflashing a prerooted fw might help BUT if you're able to get there PLEASE don't proceed till someone with more experience chimes in!
I will say that there's hope if you can get to recovery... probably? But this never happened to me.
Have you tried restarting with usb keyboard attached and pressing the print alt screen? Good luck.

hi,
I am not an expert on this matter but you should provide detail info exactly what you did to your Fire TV, the exact steps and sequence so folks can help you better.
In the meantime, check these all link out before you do anything. It seems few folks has some success see link 2 and 3 as always try it on your risk. I hope someone else can provide a better solution.

btw, if you are using amazon fire tv for xbmc as it seems most folks are using it for, i would just get Raspberry PI, it is awesome never had to worry about bricking the damn thing, sure it slower than fire tv but i have use it and i love it, it plays 1080 and 3d movies and no buffering either.
I also fire tv but i am always scared this thing will brick as it seems many folks have this problem.
Thank you

Thanks for the reply Klite, I didn't unlock the bootloader before installing the menu so that must have caused the brick.
I'm only able to see the Amazon logo, it does not reach the Fire TV Logo. I have plugged in a USB keyboard but i can't seem to get to recovery.

Hi Ashsha
I do mainly use my FTV for Kodi, I did previously use a Raspberry Pi but i bought this to replace it as i wanted something more powerful due to the problems i was having with stutters during play back.
Thanks for the links too, i did try them but i have had no luck so far.
Does anyone know if it possible to unbrick my FTV via USB using Fastboot or ADB?

That's a very good question. I know it's pretty much essential to unbrick a kindle fire but can't find any info specific to aftv. But you're motivation to get an answer is greater than mine. Do you have one?
I'd be confident in trying it with a phone or tablet but I just don't know enough about the variables (like could you do more damage sending power to somewhere that has an external power source)
My best advice is to be patient, keep looking for possible fixes online, but I'd caution not to experiment. Instead keep coming back here to get thoughts on possible fixes that might work. At the very least your thread will stay high in the forum search results giving you a better chance of having the right xda member to notice it.

If you didn't follow the directions and didn't unlock, then it is bricked and the only way to fix it is the hw mod to write to the mmc. If you have an A to A plugged in, on boot it'll stop in the bootloader and fastboot will work, unfortunately there is no commands you can actually run that will do anything. If you don't have an A to A plugged in, it will try to load the boot image. Since you didn't unlock, it won't boot the image, and it'll just die.
if all else fails, you can always go to amazon for replacement, remember amazon fire tv hasn't been a year old yet and you still have warranty for it, thats what i did with mine, i acted i didn't know what i was doing and suddenly it wouldn't load or boot up, etc.. u will need to know ur email adress or account thats associated with ur fire tv.. op korz .. they will do it... 100%

So what your saying is my Fire TV is dead.
I might just move on then to a new device like the Razor Forge TV when that comes out.

I'd love to return my FTV under warranty but i live in Australia and can't be bothered paying for postage to get it replaced
Just wondering if anyone has worked out a way of fixing this type of Brick?
Not sure was version of the software on, I'm hoping that it might be on 51.1.6.1 or 54.1.2.1
thanks

Depending on how much of the instructions you actually followed, and if your bootloader is 51.1.0.2 or older, there is a method that @AFTVnews.com is working on a writeup for that should recover it. But if the bootloader wasn't downgraded to 51.1.0.2, then it's dead.
[Q] So, I flashed the wrong ROM into my 3HT7G 8.9" Kindle fire. Is there any fix?
I have been googling and searching for years with no usable results and fixes to all manner of problems other than what I have here.
Ok... So a few years back, I was using a program (I forget which one) to flash a new ROM and didn't pay adequate attention to what I was flashing into my Kindle 3HT7G 8.9" Fire. I put the rom for the 7 inch model (Oopse!) Anyways this corrupted the boot sector of the device and now the thing is completely non responsive. I have tried googling every variation of the question I am asking and have tried the hold power 30 sec, Hold power while rebooting, various (unbricking utilities) all with absolutely no results other than seemingly dead screen. I have charged overnight, used factory cable on computer, Voodoo magic chants. (ok so I don't know Voodoo) Kind loving words, Harsh threats, pleading... Etc... The closest to an answer was in some thread somewhere, someone said to another person asking similar question was , "Yep it's now a $200 paperweight..." I understand that rewriting the boot sector to something wrong is stupid. (I presume this is where the information that tells the device who and what it is and what all buttons do resides) I did just that. Is there any way to force feed the correct ROM or even remove the memory to mount in another environment to rewrite it? Is this device really completely useless? Or, is there a way but too cost prohibitive? I have been holding on to this device in hopes that one day a cure can be found and I can thaw it out and perform the required surgery on it.
Thanks,
Dan
