Have a Xperia Play and have been trying to root for the past week now!
I have used at least 7 different programs but none of them work.
Im afraid the problem is i cant get into fastboot mode and my blue light wont turn on.
If thats the problem is there a way to fix it?
And if its not what is the problem and can i fix it?

Wait if you are just rooting you don't need to do that. What model is your phone?
Check if your bootloader isn't locked and you have unlock it first.
Rooting methods like Zerg rush not working on 2.3.4 software.

Yeah i got an update from the Sony Update Service.
You have to flash a previous firmware, since November 2011 update, zergRush xploit doesn't work

What I would do is flash back but at first check if your fastboot is actually not working.
Turn off the device and check it, take out the battery and put it back in then hold search button and plug in usb if you have a blue light then fastboot is ok.
You also need Android ADB drivers which you need to have the Android SDK to get them or if you have flashtool there is a drivers folder which is the simplest method to install ADB bridge.
Then using flashtool (if it worked) flashed the DoomLord Kernel, if it says you have no permission to do so then you need to unlock your bootloader.

Ok I will most defenetly install the adb drivers once I know where to get them. How do I know if I have the android sdk?
I have the flashtool but when I downloaded it it came with 3 programs and no folders.
Can you give me the link to the folders or to the flashtool that has the folders with it when you install it?
I also need the link to the doom kernel which I might have and instructions on how to flash it.

You should first download flashtool. Then use flashtool to flash the verizon firmware. I will provide a link. Then enter flashmode by turning your phone off completely. Hold the back button, and plug the usb in the computer and then into the phone while still holding the back button. A green light should appear on the top. Then flash the firmware and there. Then use superoneclick to root

Luckily you have flashtool so you do not need the Android Sdk. There should be a drivers folder in your flashtool and an executable inside that will install like a normal program. This contains all the drivers you will ever need.
On every time it installs one it will prompt you to install or not install jusf click install and you will be asked this about 20 times for each driver.

If I remember correctly, the xperia play 4g was R800at and not R800x. Well anyway you have to download the firmware for your phone. Then place it in the firmware folder inside the flashtool folder. This should be the correct firmware for your phone. http://www.mediafire.com/?qqvtl484nlz3gq0 just place the ftf in the firmware folder. Start flashtool, click flash, then choose flashmode. Select the firmware. There should be instructions on how to plug in your phone and there it should flash.

I found the issue; can't use SEUS after you unlock the bootloader. Thanks anyways! All I did was flash a rom that relocked my bootloader (?? don't know the terms), and then run SEUS again.
you cant relock a bootloader with a rom.. you need help fro this thread. download a ftf firmware and flash t using flashtool so that the phone boots p and then check the bootloader status .....later depending on it, flash a custom kernel and rom (optional though recommended)

Whoops, guess I meant I flashed an FTF... lol. Something I found on YouTube.
But yeah, I've run into another problem; while rooting the phone (using this guide over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957), I think I've bricked my phone again. I didn't enable USB Debugging and Unknown Sources, so it got stuck at Daemon Started Successfully. Haven't been able to boot into my phone since. Sorry if this problem has been solved before, wasn't able to find the solution while searching that thread.'
EDIT: ...sorry again, managed to stumble my way through and revive my phone.

Update Service with an unlocked bootloader is a bad idea.
Try this.

And as the guy above told you, SEUS on unlocked bootloader is a bad thing.

Dude,
As the others have said you cannot install FXP CM10 on a device with a locked bootloader.
As such your device will not boot, your options are to either.
1) use flashtool to flash a stock rom - instuctions how to use flashtool can be found on the forum
2) use Sony update service to flash back to stock - This is the easier option, but all your data will be wiped.
Once the device will boot up, if you still want to use FXP roms then unlock the bootloader first, or try a rom for locked bootloaders.
Either of the above should work for you.

Hi guys, as the title said, I want to root my new Xperia Play R800a, and I am very lost right now. Ultimately, my goal is to install Xperia NXT 2r1. I think that since I have the r800a version, I am not able unlock the bootloader, so I am ok with not having a custom kernel.
But the problem is, I'm totally lost right now. Could anyone show me a guide or something to what I'm supposed to do to start? That's all I'm asking.
What I HAVE done is downloaded everything they asked for me to download in the post, and have installed flashtools, but whenever I try flashing the firmware 4.0.2 enhanced, I am not able to do so. It is just stuck on a screen where it tells me to go to fastboot mode, but I go to fastboot mode, and for some reason it isn't recognized. (I know it's fastboot because the power button is glowing blue.) I think a driver might be installed incorrectly, but I'm not sure how to install it correctly after.
I'm sorry if my post isn't that helpful, I'll add any more information if you guys want me too.
Thanks in advance.

Alright found out the problem. Apparently there are two versions of flashtool. One version doesn't work while the other does. I honestly don't know what the difference is. But for other people who might be facing the same problem, if your flashtool has only three icons, Flash, Root, and check for SU permissions I think (it looks like a key), then you have the wrong version. Your flashtool should have 7 icons.
Doesn't Matter

Oh yes, I found that out a bit later. The problem was lying in the flashtools I was using. Once I got the right flashtools, I reflashed the previous firmware rooted it, installed the rom, and it all worked perfectly.
