I used the toolkit last time when on LJC and it was easy. But, The toolkit hasn't been updated to MA7 yet. I'm sure there is another way?
Thanks
If I'm not mistaken the toolkit will still work with ma7. I rooted mine using same method that I used before the update.

Go here, download required files and root your phone in less than 30 secs. Then either go here for TWRP or install ROM Manager for CWM. Then flash away.

If you are stock with stock recovery the OTA should work.
What was the error you received?
You posted this on the wrong section. This is for Android development. What where you trying to flash. If you are completely stock it should just be a ota that you click install and it does the update by itself.

MA6 to MB1
Thanks to these forums and QBKing77. I decided to root my phone just a couple days ago.
Before doing so I performed the upgrade to MA6 manually to a completely stock not rooted device. (Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3)
I then with QBKing77's videos rooted with the CWM Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743780
Then This morning I got notified of an OTA update, but it would not work unless I went back to the Stock recovery which I performed.
The OTA update then took place without a hitch. (Well Sort of) Root access was lost. SuperUser still appeared in the App Drawer, but would not work. Root Checker Basic Verified the Root was no longer in place.
NO Pre-Exsisting APPs Or DATA was at all effected. All remains intact.
I re-rooted the same as I had before and all is well.
I know I am a complete Noob with all of this but wanted to share my experience so others noobs or not may benefit.
I observed the following:
1. Stock recovery should be installed for OTA updates.
2. Does Not Matter if Rooted or Not.
3. If Rooted...You will need to re-root.
I can not speak for any custom roms as I was only stock rooted.
See the thing is i want to revert my note 2 back to official as i have to sell it. Whenever i do so by reseting flash counter and then full unroot through super su and when i perform a factory reset my phone does not turn on. I am runnind a stock rom and kernel which i have backed up at the time of root. Now what to do ?
Took me 2 seconds to find this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U3x9f_0qLM&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I have TWRP installed and upon doing the software update from at&t that was released today (5/12/2013), it launches into TWRP and does not complete. Is there a quick and easy way to update and keep my phone the way it is now and not loose settings or data? I used chainfire auto root with odin to root. I have titanium backup, also supersu. Kinda new to this all, and I don't wanna loose everything. Thanks for your help.
I am on stock firmware
You have to have stock recovery and not be rooted for update.

If you follow this guide and watch the you tube video it should go smooth. This is the video I watched and was rooted in no time. GL.

Easiest method I've found to root is the no trip root from mrRobinson. After that, just use goo manager or Rom manager to get a custom recovery, then flash away
Thanks guys, i got it. along with 12 flash counters.

Root with this instead. It's super easy and fast. Just flash CF-Auto Root in Odin and you are done. Install GooManager from the play store and flash TWRP.
Yeaj I agree. Use cf auto root. The Toolkit flashed an insecure kernel that is old. CF Root doesn't. It uses the stock recovery for root.
