Do I use the one that comes with the Rom (ics boot.IMG) or the one that comes with the kernal (the one extracted from the .zip)????

Does this exist

Are there any flash able ROMs using only cwm or twrp?

Yes. All rings are flashable. Ad looking as your using an ICS boot.IMG, you can flash 4.0 roms with no problem.
If your on a JB boot animation, you can flash 4.1+ roms. Just be aware to what kernel your using.

OK to clearify any ICS ROMs I only need there ROM and gapps because my stock ROM uses the same kernel
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
Yes. Most people use the boot.IMG found in the Rom, most of the time its this kernel, if your on CDMA like me, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844049
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
From that zip, and flash the zip after flashing the Rom

OK I understand the kernel is like telling the phone what bios to use like an emulator. So if I go from stock to amazing sense I'm totally good to go no CPU needed. Am I right?

You can't flash kernel through recover cuz we have pvt s-on......
Sent from my HTC One V using xda premium
No...you have to be s off ..which is hard to have and why aren't methods working ,you're the one that's doing it wrong (there's a thread in general by cybervibin which explains how to flash it
Is there any work in progress to break the lock?
In 3 months I have flash ed 4 kernels, now on cm10 paranoid I can't get flashed the kernel
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
Why ...what's the error its telling you
That cannot detect device and cannot load kernels..but all in one tool do flash recoverys...
I'm sure kernels are put in the correct folder and have rename kernel to boot.img

Maybe check for an update to the all in one tool your using, or learn to install the SDK and platform tools so you can do the fast boot commands in the command line. Not a bad thing to know how to do.
