[Q] stuck at hboot screen - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have an evo that belongs to a friend he got it used, looks as though it was rooted before. this is all the information i have
supersonic evt3 ship s-off

touch panel-atmel224_16ab
radio-2.15.00.01.15

the phone only boots up to the hboot screen, the volume and power buttons do nothing when they are pressed. i have gone thru the forums for almost a week trying to download and install every possible solution as well as following the steps in most of the forums that are even remotely related to this issue but still no luck. when i put a PC36IMG.zip on the sd card it gets to a stage of parsing sd zip but never moves from that spot.
anyone have any suggestions or recommendations to try as well as links that work for downloads, a majority are dead as to be expected on an older device.

Ok,i read what you wrote,so is what i did is,download the htc HTC Sync Driver ,then download and install Smelkus Recovery ,go into Hboot and then usb fastboot and open your sd card and copy the PC36IMG.zip onto your sd card, unplug and boot back into Hboot and wait for the prompt, push up and then down, then scroll down to recovery and click it,that should work, unless you have internal problems.

If it never moves past the part of parsing your sdcard, you need to reformat it (the sdcard) to FAT32

New Breed of Desires

Howdy Guys
A few days ago a mate of mine employed me to help him root his new toy. After doing mine multiple times (for various reasons) it was supposed to a piece of cake.
My method (I may have missed a point or two but you get the main idea):
1. Unrevoked
2. Install Titanium Backup, full backup
3. Copy entire SD contents
4. Install Rom Manager / Partition SD Card
5. Copy rom over to SD Card and install
6. Upgrade radio
7. From rom restore stuffs and go nuts
(optional but wanted to do)
8. S-OFF via bootable USB stick
Anyway turns out almost every step of the way was hampered because of new hardware. Here's the HBoot screen details:

For anyone else that has a desire with these specs please save yourself a lot of time and "oh ****" moments and know the following:
- Clockwork recovery will not work, you need to flash ArmonRa via the SDK with fastboot.exe OR via Unrevoked, before plugging in your phone go File > Choose alternate recovery and link it to AmonRa which you downloaded.
- Rom manager will not work (as it relies on ClockworkRecovery)
- SD Card partitioning and Upgrading to EXT3 needs to be done in AmonRa Recovery.
- Current S-OFF methods will not work and will send black lines across your HTC Boot splash screen. S-OFF tool reports failure at step 3. Ripping the battery and then restoring via recovery is the only fix.
Cheers.
I have a pvt4 and use clockwork

Sounds bad...But it should not take much time till there is a working solution for this
i have that type of desire.
and i have encounter no problem on rooting unrevoked /s-off with alphaville 1.5
i have used various roms (auraXsense and hd roms Rcmix, ownhere dhd)
used amonra and clockmodwork....at least 30 times
i have used 3,4 radio versions and upgraded to the latest 5.11.05.27
everything works and stable with richard v5f kernel and rcmix 14 + set cpu....
and they are working.
it is exactly your specification
except that now mine is S-off.
spec seems the same except
Bravo Pvt3 ship S-off but maybe is from the s-off procedure

really i do not know if it was before pvt4 or what pvt3/4 means...
anyway i want to know considering maybe i will encounter future desire and maybe you are right... and it is possible that they are not working.
you cold try a Ruu update and try again the all process maybe something went wrong somewhere
You not seen the rather LARGE thread in General about this??
I have the same specs on my Desire and the latest clockwork(2.5.1.2) works. I'm not S-Off.
I flashed 6-7 roms with no problems.
I didn't use RomManager,so I don't know, but partitioned the sd card from recovery, under advanced options with no problems.
Only happens on some PVT4 devices (two different types), and there is already a thread about this.
My PVT4 has clockwork, S-OFF, root, custom splash1, etc.

Yea there is definitely a new model i have the same problems. Clockwork Recovery dont work only Amon Ra and Alpharev dont work either. Stops at step 3 everytime saying:
"Could not push the initial files during step 1. this is most likely a permissions error on your data partition.
We have tried our best to circumvent this, but most likely your ROM is either not rooted properly, causing failure.
Your best option is to backup everything, and flash a custom ROM that is properly rooted and has ADB root.
Remember: your HBOOT is NOT S-OFF, and it is not bricked."

[q] need a evogenius

Heres my problem
1. Have clockworkmod 2.6.0.1 installed and roooted/no backup
2. I was recovering back to stock when I noticed I either deleted all files or just didnt back them up to begin with.
3. My phone boots up to supersonic screen with these stats

Phone will not boot to splash screen, I have tried installing pc36img.zip not ''pc3img.Zip.zip'' k, I can access the clockworkmod recovery screen where I can mount to sd but when I reboot from recovery back to bootloader where it attemps to install PC36IMG But says I have ''MAIN'' older version and attemP to ask me to reboot or continue to bootloader ''Hboot'' screen. Currently I have no files at all on my sd card...So im out of idea's 2 days later HELP!

Flashing New Recovery

Having trouble with my DHD at the moment.
Tried updating my 4EXT Recovery and now for some reason the phone boots the stock recovery screen. This is the black screen with a picture of a phone and a red triangle with an exclamation mark on it.
So I thought the best thing to do would be flash a whole new recovery onto the phone.
I can get in to H-Boot and BootLoader, but am having problems flashing a recovery.
Not the most knowledgeable with this sort of thing tbh, so this is where i need help.
I have tried downloading a version of 4EXT Recovery (not sure if i'm using the right one or not) and a ClockwordMod Recovery, placing on the root of the SD card and renamed to PB99IMG.zip (is this correct?) But the H-boot doesn't install it.
Here are the details i can provide:

If anyone could tell me what i'm doing wrong or what to use instead it would be a great help!
Try renaming that file to pd98img.zip, reboot into bootloader, and when it asks you if you would like to update with the pd98img file select yes, and see if it works.

If I used Z4root to remove bloat....

and now I cannot get my wife's phone to do any updating, how do I return or load a stock rom so I can get her the latest stock updates?
Funny how all I did was use Z4root and titanium backup to temp root to get rid of some bloat but it is considering the phone as being rooted?
Need more info, like your Hboot and radio. You can find that by powering off the phone, then holding the power and volume down buttons at the same time.

You can either download this file, which matches the current software of the phone:
http://goo.im/stock/supersonic/ruu/...15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip
or this one, which contains the latest update (or close to it):
http://goo.im/stock/supersonic/ruu/...15.00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed.zip
Rename either file PC36IMG.zip (not PC36IMG.zip.zip, just delete everything in the name except the PC36IMG and the .zip extention) and place on the root of the SD card. Boot into the bootloader again with the volume down + power buttons, then accept the update when it finishes loading.
Worked like a peach!! Thanx Shorty

Help with HTC one m8 o2 UK

Hey i have a HTC one m8 on o2 in UK,
First of all i am a complete noob when it comes to phone repair/installing software on phones i'm not even sure how to get this 'fastboot var all' people seem to ask for, I've been browsing these forums for a few days and can't seem to work it out so hoping there's a patient person out there that could point me in the right direction.
It is stuck on the main load up screen and occasionally optimizing apps which it goes through this process and repeats.
Was using the phone then it popped up with a message, htc input has stopped working or something like that, can't really remember, said send error report so i pressed don't send, kept popping up so i restarted the phone and it started doing this, if i try and enter recovery mode it gives me a red triangle with an explanation mark.
From what i have been reading i may need to install an 'RUU' from an SD card onto the phone(i have no idea how to do this)

Had the phone since new so the software hasn't been tampered with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Be aware that running an RUU will wipe your phone.
Download this RUU.zip
Rename it by deleting everything in the name of the .zip except for 0P6BIMG (and .zip of course)
Place that onto your ext SD (the card must be formatted to FAT32 ~ if it's 32GB or less, it probably already is) and boot into bootloader
Follow the on screen prompts (vol up to flash ~ power button to reboot when done ~ super easy)
And that's it.
After the flash is complete, delete the renamed .zip from you SD card. If you don't, your phone will try to update again every time you boot to bootloader.
Good luck!
Thanks for the fast reply, worked a treat, appreciated
