Having trouble with my DHD at the moment.
Tried updating my 4EXT Recovery and now for some reason the phone boots the stock recovery screen. This is the black screen with a picture of a phone and a red triangle with an exclamation mark on it.
So I thought the best thing to do would be flash a whole new recovery onto the phone.
I can get in to H-Boot and BootLoader, but am having problems flashing a recovery.
Not the most knowledgeable with this sort of thing tbh, so this is where i need help.
I have tried downloading a version of 4EXT Recovery (not sure if i'm using the right one or not) and a ClockwordMod Recovery, placing on the root of the SD card and renamed to PB99IMG.zip (is this correct?) But the H-boot doesn't install it.
Here are the details i can provide:

If anyone could tell me what i'm doing wrong or what to use instead it would be a great help!
Try renaming that file to pd98img.zip, reboot into bootloader, and when it asks you if you would like to update with the pd98img file select yes, and see if it works.

Currently I have no files at all on my sd card...So im out of idea's 2 days later HELP!
I installed a neondroid theme from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554028 from the SD card through recovery mode, rebooted my phone, and it won't boot to the wallpaper.
It's supposed to show the joker with s-off on it for a few seconds then go off then my network provider shows then my wallpaper.
It just stays at the joker then a black line appears on screen.
Any ideas how I can get my phone functioning again??
img flashing won't work as i get a CID error, just in case anyone suggests anything. I don't know how to overcome this cid error.

Reboot into recovery, go to mounts and storage and ersae everything apart from sdcard, then restore backup. Should fix it.
I have no recovery file. Is there a copy somewhere i could use?
You should always work with backup in the recovery, before flashing anything.
One thing you might try: Get the zip of your current ROM (not the Theme) and flash it right over...
And be patient: first boot always takes some time.
To get rid of of the cid error, you need either create goldcard with ubuntu or use the appropriate ruu from your provider (make sure this one is not too old).
Which rom are you running? As far as I understand, this theme is for only cyanogenmod 4.0.4.
Hi All...
I have a prom with my Orange DHD...I was updating to the latest OTA but the update failed and now all i get when i start up is the green circular arrows for a few seconds and then the red triangle with exclamation mark.
I can access HBOOT and FASTBOOT menus, but Factory Reset and Recovery do not work (bot result in the red triangle)
I had a look on the SD card, but no update files were on the root of the card...
It looks like the download of the rom was corrupted and not saved...
Having done a bit of research here i tried to put a stock PD98DIAG.zip from a 2.3.5 WEE RUU onto the SD card root and went to HBOOT, but that failed as the checks failed with the below errors:
no image for PD98DIAG.zip,
no image or wrong image for PD98DIAG.nbh and PD98IMG.zip etc.
and also as the CID was incorrect
(assuming my phone CID is ORANG001, so not accepting the WWE?).
So...my question is before i get HTC to take it back as its under warranty and lose my phone for up to a month (i go on holiday next week and am not back till Easter - but would liek it with me on the trip), is there a method i can put a rom on to at least get the phone to boot and then do an update again?
When i plug the phone to usb the phone recognises the connection but my pc asks for Android 1.0 drivers (even though HTC Sync and the HTC Drivers are installed)
Can i run any RUU from my PC to get the phone up if the PC isnt loading the HTC Android 1.0 drivers?
I guess what i'm looking for is step by step instructions on getting the phone back up conisidering all i can currently do is access HBOOT...What are the risks of rooting going wrong and bricking the phone?
the HBOOT details are:
*** LOCKED (OOW) *** ->what does this mean?

Thanks guys...
Your phone isn't rooted so you can't install any other roms. There's various guides on how to root your phone, some easier than others depending on the stock. Personally I had to update to a newer rom that had an exploit in it that allowed me to install an earlier version that allowed rooting. From there you can then permanently root the phone.
The best thing would be to search for guides on rooting a desire hd on orange (I'm on 3 so may be slightly different), then you can always reinstall your stock rom if you want

Your phone isn't rooted (the LOCKED message on bootloader screen) which is why you can't flash the PD98 image or any other ROM/RUU for that matter that is not digitally signed by Orange.
If you have warranty I don't suggest rooting it as this might void the warranty, especially if your phone still doesn't work after rooting. Perhaps it would be easier for Orange to fix it?
Hi all, I am having problems rooting and flashing a custom rom to my desire phone. My phone has the following:

To root use Revolutionary. It will give s-off and then you will be able to flash a rooting tool. I'm a noob too and have used it very recently to s-off and root my Desire without any problem... You will find useful information in the forum for that...
Hope this helps...
Edit: I tryed using unrEVOked 3 also and got the same error...

For GB use Revolutionary. Unrevoked worked well on Froyo.
Thanks guys I managed to root and install a recovery file/rom.. heres how i did it
On the Revolutionary page read everything and download the following:
a) Revolutionary zip - save to PC. They will ask for info (currently) on your phone to get a beta key.
b) Root file - place this on your SD card. I used Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Now you're ready to go.
S-OFF PROCESS
Run Revolutionary (unzip and run) and follow prompts. Say no to installing their recovery.
Congratulations, you should be S-OFF now. You can check by booting to Hboot and seeing if you have a nice pink "Revolutionary" label above your HBoot info.
ADDING CUSTOM RECOVERY
it's time to install your recovery file. i used (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img)
a) Boot into fastboot mode (from off, volume-up and power or volume-down and power then cycle to fastboot option)
b) Connect phone to PC through USB. You should see "FASTBOOT USB" on your phones screen.
c) Open CMD (Start > Run > type "cmd" and press enter)
d) Type "fastboot flash recovery c:\your recovery file name" where c:\your recovery file name is the exact location and name of the recovery file you downloaded.
You should now have a S-OFF phone with a custom recovery
ROOTING PROCESS
Now for rooting:
a) Boot into Hboot (from off, hold vol-down and power) and choose "Recovery" from the menu.
b) Choose "flash zip from SD card" or similar from Recovery menu (use trackpad to navigate)
c) Choose the Root file you downloaded to your SD card from the Revolutionary website.
d) Wait till it says it's done, then choose to reboot.
Congratulations, you're S-OFF and Rooted!
Whats the best and most stable custom rom to use please?
Also I backed my phone using the recovery.. it stated that I have no sd-ext..is that bad? Do I need to change that?
Thanks again for your help
my phone now has the following:

You would need an ext partition for many roms, to get a lot more internal memory. Check the partitioning guide in my sig.
A good rom to start out with is MildWild Redux. I've been using it since it was released. No problems.

Hi guys!
So here i am....
I had some problems with my htc running on CM 11, and i decided to go to firmware again, yet i forgot that i had s-on... so i had relocked the bootloader than i had unlock it again with htcdev token, after this operation the phone is not starting the cm 11 system. it goes only to the cm blue circle logo with loading and nothing more happen.
I thought that i will reinstall the rom from recovery.... and now i have a problem the recovery don't see the interior memory (SD?) where is the rom.zip. and i am not able to make the wipe or factory reset.
So i thought that i will use an external SD card, butwhen i had placed the rom on the sd card and plug the card in the phone the hboot shows some info that img 0p6bdiag.zip not found no image or wrong image.... and after i go to recovery form the bootloader and select the external sd card the recovery shows that the card is empty... but it is not. i tried to make aslo the rom by adb sideload, there is the comunication because it is sending the rom to the device but it is not installing it on the device...
AAA and one more thing i had extract the boot.img from the cm11 rom to the phone several times with no help
below the info from bootloader:
M8_UL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-3.16.0.0000

OpenDSP-v38.2.2-00542-M8974.0311
OS-1.54.69.5

TWRP 2.7.0.2
I don't know what to do.... please help me if someone could help me.....
