[*gps fix] alternate gps fix] - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

**MUST BE ON STOCK TOUCHWIZ TO ACCESS DIALER MENU**
Thought I post this method on a different way to get GPS back from flashing from different ROMs. When I lost it, a fresh Odin install did not fix GPS. Basically nothing worked; clear maps data, Google. Servicesframework, tightening all my screws, gps fix it apps, etc.. Tried them all.
Then I came across a post that was in a att s3 thread started by "egyptshun"
So shout outs to him.
[QUOTE/]if you dont see your gps icon on status bar. there is problem on your gps chip.
becouse that was happend to me my I747. im more confused about it.
i try more things like rom change,, firmware upgrade,, orginal samsung updates,, etc,, no more fix

Thanks for the info

This worked great, my gps issues started when I flashed to a 4.2.2 rom and went back to stock 4.1.1. After searching endlessly this is the easiest fix there is out there.

Fast and easy
WOW. This worked so fast and easy! GPS Signal locked on instantly after the reboot and turning on GPS. I lost my GPS going from Cyanogenmod 10.1 to Darthstalker S3 edition Version XI.

Yeah I was so relieved when I did this.. It was such a head ache. Been seeing a lot of people going thru the same thing.
So maybe this could get stickied or something

This should definitely be stickied

I am on LiquidSmooth RC2, when I entered *#197328640# on phone dial pad, nothing happen.

Only works on TouchWiz.

This worked amazingly well! This does need to be stickied like someone mentioned earlier.

Restore a touch wiz nandroid, if u have one. Then use the dialer code. It'll be faster that way, you won't have to Odin, and use a pc

Nice find, will try this later after I back up.
Might want to state in the OP that the Samsung code only works on the Touchwiz dialer just to make it clear.

Just finished restoring and it worked out amazingly! I flashed Wicked and typed in the code, rebooted, turned on GPS and tested on both Google Maps and Navigation, Restored back up, tested again on both apps and it was spot on. Thanks again

WOW! My GPX had broke for the second time and I was about to cry thinking about Odin lmao.
worked perfectly! GREAT FIND!

Since this fix seems to be pretty solid (and becoming a prevalent issue), I've included it in my signature.

This thread makes me a lot less wary about flashing something like Liquidsmooth, when Wicked remains my daily. I'd need to switch back and forth. Good to see there seems to be a practical way of dealing with possible GPS loss, without jumping through hoops to get it back.

Google navigation voice gets stuck

Just as title says the navigation voice gets stuck. It usually gets stuck if I end navigation early. The next time I use navigation it will get stuck saying in 1000 feet or turn right etc. Only fix I found was clearing app data but it always comes back. Any help?
Using aokp and ktoonsez's kernal too. Also did full wipe decently and it didn't fix it.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Mine does this as well, on tw and aosp roms. Only temp fix I've found is clearing data. This has been driving me nuts, at least it's not just me. Let me know if you figure anything else out.

Since I've seen this post I've used navigation everywhere I've gone...
Noticed my nav would show me the right direction for places but the voice would tell me how to get to my previous destination...
It would say turn left etc on streets in the city I was in earlier.

I"m guessing that uninstall/reinstall only really accomplishes the same thing as clearing data. Because when you uninstall, it will of course clear the data.
I too am having this problem, consistentlyh, and on different ROMS. Very frustrating.
It tells me to turn right from the street I live on, over and over again.
same problem here
I too am having this problem.. i just restart the phone, but thats the same as clearing app data.. though less screens to go through
is there any fix in sight for this? its really aggravating.
By the way, another problem I am having with the Nav app is that when I click on Voice Entry for a destination, it flashes over to enter voice, then right back to the initial destination screen. Am unable to use voice entry.
I have had this problem on Stock ROM, as well as current Ariel Rom.
Maybe I should open a thread on this topic to see if anyone else has the issue.

[Q] GPS problem signal

Hi.
I have a Galaxy s3 videotron t999v. I rooted and flashed the rom Frosty, illusion and CM10. I still have the same problem no GPS signal with google navigation. I went back to the stock rom with odin and make the ICS update for jellybean. Still the same problem no GPS signal.
Anyone has a solution or has had the same thing with Galaxy s3 Vieotron or Tmobile.
Thank you in advance.
I'm going through the same problem my friend. Odin back to stock ICS and did the software update to JB and still no GPS icon in the notification bar. This sucks...

I have the GPS icon in the notification bar but no signal. I tried on the market (GPS Status and GPS data) for more than 15 minutes outside with a clear sky with no results. I can not believe I'm the only one with this problem.
I hope there is someone here who can help us.
If your phone is rooted, try downloading 'fasterfix' from the play store and use it to set your location.
Use 'GPS Status & Toolbox' to redo your aGPS data afterwards and see if it that helps as well.
Try to leave it running for 2 mins outdoors, stationary. Set the program to leave the display on when that application is running. I think it should work better afterwards.

If you find a solution please share, I just started having this problem a few days ago. But I don't even get the "searching for location in the status bar

Well this is what I did. I returned with the original rom nothing has changed. I rooter my phone and installed GPS Status and FastFix. I have worked for 30 minutes GPS status it did not find a GPS signal. By the way this is not the first time I root my device. Motorola, LG, Samsung, and I've never had the problem.
If someone has a solution! Please let me know.
Edit: I also install JB 4.1.1 with Kies and nothing has changed. I noticed that the GPS icon does not appear when I do a search request with google navigation.
I started to get discouraged I can not find a solution.
I ask for your help please ...
Ok, I was having the same problem and here is how I fixed it. It took me a few days and I might have just gotten lucky, but who cares.
I flashed this ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088764
This I Odin'd back to standard ROM.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426424
Make sure you have SuperSU flashable on hand.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
At that point I was able to flash Wicked:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804260
And I magically had GPS signal. I might be lucky, but wanted to share the steps that got my GPS back.
Make sure to copy everything from your internal storage to your computer. You might lose everything, just FYI.
Good luck.

The directions I posted on the first page worked for me and like you I came from cm10 and my GPS was messed up. Rooted back to stock ICS and it came back right away. I didn't even need to wait for an OTA update. Well on the bright side at least you'll have a brand new phone to root and play with. Hopefully it doesn't happen again! Good luck flashing in the future man.

Google Map/GPS Broken

My GPS doesn't lock anymore. I think it may be something with the phone itself because I've tried more than four different ROMS and it searches for GPS/location on all of them.
I am using the latest Pacman AOKP ROM as my daily driver. I tried another GPS app (telnav) and I got an instant lock. I also tried the GPS fix app but that didn't help.
Does any one know what might have gone wrong or have suggestions on how to fix it. Thanks

Heres wat I did.
Went to settings > Application manager > ALL > Maps

Cleared Data
Uninstalled Updates
Then Unninstalled Maps
Rebooted and installed Maps from the market.
Enabled the GPS
Started navigation and it worked just like it should.
Good Luck!

Actually I was in AOKP and then I flashed the latest version of Frosty, but my GPS was working after that. Then I flashed a few different Kernels to see which one worked better. I flashed Ktoonsez first, then Deviant, and finally I settled on Xone Kernel. It was then that I realized my GPS didn't work. So I'm not sure what messed it up.

My wifi will NOT TURN ON

So I wanted to flash the new jedi rom on my note2. I was running myrom. Through recovery I wiped the system and then I wiped cached. The usual. I have flashed many roms so I knew what I was doing.
So then I flashed the new jedi rom. And its wasnt working because this kept popping up without even letting me use the phone-> 'android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly'. And then I was like wth? I flashed back and recovered my previous rom and data and that rom worked just fine again.
So I did some reserch and I came across another forum that claims the fix is to flash SUPERWIPE. So I did so, then I flashed the jedirom again and it was working fine without any popups of any errors.
Then I noticed my wifi would not even turn on at all. I press the botton to turn on, and it says turning on, then it will go back to saying turn on, as if I never tried to turn it on at all. Please help guys as much as u can. Everything else works jist fine on my phone btw.
Tmobile sght889 gnote2
Its happening to me too. Except for the whole other problems. It happens randomly, not only wifi stays "turning on" my bluetooth doesnt work. This gets fixed over time idky but its really REALLY annoying.
Had that happen on my phone. Wifi and bluetooth wouldn't turn on. It would fix itself sometimes, but as soon as I leave a wifi area, it stops working even if I go to another wifi area. The only fix I know of is to do a warranty exchange. That's what I had to do.
My bluetooth isnt working as well! Wth x [ I need to fix this

My GPS worked great... for a few months. Then one day I tried to do some navigating and realized it wasn't working anymore. I wiped my data, flashed different ROMs, reverted back to stock, tried multiple GPS fixes, etc, etc. I spoke to a Samsung rep (because I don't have T-Mobile service or I would have gone through them) and told them the things I did; aside from the warranty-voiding stuff, that is. They concluded that it was more than likely a hardware fault and to send it in for repair/replacement. Barring any water damage, the fix would be covered by the warranty. I haven't had a chance to send it in yet, but there's that option.

I might be doing this wrong, but using that particular code doesn't allow me to enter the Main Menu or UMTS options. I can use the code to enter service mode in the Sim-unlock thread, but even once I can get into UMTS>Common>NV REBUILD, there isn't an option for NV REBUILD. Only load default, erase EFS, backup, and restore... I played around in there when I was sim-unlocking my phone when I first got it and was appalled when I found out what exactly the EFS was... I'm basically lucky I didn't screw it up; so you can see my current unease of just selecting some random option from that menu.
