don't u think that's a little bit "VERY LATE" news?

It is kinda late and the new Android version will come on the Nexus One first. The HTC Desire needs to wait till next year when it will come tougher with sense 2.0.

I was under impression gingerbread was gettibg rid of sense and other such nasties. So desire owners will have to wait for gingerbread. Surely developers can port nexus obe rom to desire once its released?

The desire had Froyo way before HTC released it 'officially' with Sense UI. We should get Gingerbread as soon as the source is released.

sense roms update is allways delayed by google/htc, thats why nexus one will get update immidiately and desire will get it later.
any way hope we will get gingerbird as soon as it is released.

i give it a week before one of you gifted nerd bastards bless us with gingerbread
i shall donate immediately.

Now I like the sound of this already!

well. no one know how gingerbread will look. froyo changed how android look and so will gingerbread.

Hearing the Gingerbread name makes me feel tasty. and it sounded very delicious rom to cook by the devs.

I hope we can have Gingerbread before Christmas...lol!

yeah thats right, but we just need the gingerbread base, than u can customize via launchers or wait for some good devs to make good custom roms like cyanogen or miui

Mark my words: We'll be enjoying Android 5.x on our AOSP/AOKP builds before HTC gets around releasing 4.2.

If HTC updated us to 4.2 we'd likely lose the ability to move apps to the sdcard partition. And it's not like they're giving us trebuchet, most 4.2 changes are lockscreen and launcher centric.

I have 4.2 on my nexus 7 there not that much different from my 4.1.1 hox so won't be going crazy if it doesn't come anytime soon lol there are plenty of roms to keep me happy

I'll have to see that, cause we all know from past announcements/confirmations that they not all have seen the light. Just wait and see (till it arrives), no speculations and I don't believe in confirmations.
I like the look of Sense 5, but I prefer it on a HTC One, instead of my One X. I'm not entirely blown away by BlinkFeed, for me the clock and calendar are the most important info to be seen, news and social feeds come after that.

I don't know why they released their flagship for this year with 4.1.not 4.2?
So we hox owners will have to wait for sense 5.0 release after the release of HTC One then wait for the new Android version after they update it also..... Please god give us patience

snese 4+ is sense 4.5 .... ...no they do upgrade to sense 5 also but not all features like the camera thing etc which needs the other hardware...

Well Android 4.2 has more tablet features than phone features. Its not a major update so shouldn't be a big deal.

Well technically yes, but I think it'll be very hard because the resolution of the screens are very different. Porting from Full HD to HD takes lots of work you know

so many devs got so many roms ported like on other htc's ....it's difficult but they could do that...it would take really a lot of time but HTC WILL updating ...they said it and why the hell could the hox doesn't get it? it's hardware is enough for android 4.2 with sense 5 or even higher version...till android 5 oder even 6....and if porting or cm we would also get android 7

I just want to get the latest update so to enhance my UX. In all honesty, as much as i love my HOX, Sense 4+ is (still) such a resource-hog.

I can foresee HTC releasing a dubbed down Sense 4.5. In my opinion it would not be in their best interest to release full Sense 5 for older generation phones when it's the major unique selling point for the newly released One handset.
If this were the case I would imagine some of the awesome developers within the rom community will port a full version after some time

Probably. This is just my opinion here but why put all the time and effort into porting it from a completely different device when HTC are working on bringing sense 5 to our one x.
What would make sense to me is that devs will wait for a leaked sense 5 base for our device then work from that

and tbh, that dont mather considering the way htc made 4.2 on One work. Ie, no lockscreen widgets anyway...

Of course it's a port from the HTC One, because the HTC One S isn't capable of controlling your TV (there is no IR emitter in it)...

You'd be surprised if I told you it was a port from the One XL...
And thay didnt make sense. It doesn't have a IR emitter so why would we port it from the One which does. So who failed now. We ported from One XL because of hardware similarities.
