Best compatible earphones with track change buttons - One (M7) Accessories

The bundled earphones have one button on the mic. This can only pause the track or answer calls, it cannot change the track or change the volume.
Are there any relatively cheap tried and tested earphones for this lovely phone... It would make listening to music so much more hassle free.

What about this one http://www.htconeaccessories.net/htcthtceoneonoenoevxxvsxv-8.html

These are meant to be best sound quality for under £100, some say its even as good as £100 IEM!
Best thing is they are under £50.

I got those, but you cant change volume with those. Even tho there are buttons for it. But those Headphones are mainly made for Apple Hardware
With the default HTC Music Programm you also cant change songs with those headphones, but i got PlayerPro from playstore. In PlayerPro you are able to change the buttons of the headphones. But not all buttons :crying:
So i am able now to play/stop and skip to next song or skip 1 song back.
But i have to say the sound which is imo more important when it comes to headphones is very nice. I dont regret the buy at all.

Let the OP decide what is more important. He clearly wants a pair of headphones with track change buttons as stated in the title.

The Sennheiser IE 8i In-Ear are very nice ... :good:

All, as far as I can tell, maybe no earphones or apps will allow me to change track via a button on the earphones......Maybe that is just the way the HTC one is setup.
..... I have tried a couple of earphones and a couple of apps that allow button assigning for the mic button, but every time when I double click on the button, it does not go to the next track, it just dials the last called number.
Please mention if you have a HTC One(not any other HTC phone) and are actively able to change track and then specify which special earphones and/or app you are using on this phone?
Many thanks

Definitely works with htc with track change
Hi All,
I have been investigating this issue for a long long time. Back with the HTC Hero you used to be able to get a "remote" that you could plug any headset you want into, but it plugged into the data connector slot. That doesnt seem to be possible any more.
What definitely does work is the Beats by Dre (UrBeats) VERSION 1. I have been told the new version two with flat ribbon cable doesnt work on HTC but you can pick up a version one set of beats. I think I may test this theory myself though because they look very similar.
You can usually pick up the original Beats by Dre for around $50 and they sound ok, not great, but ok. They originally came with HTC Sensation XE and other phones at the time. They are FAR better than the HTC branded headphones that come with the phones these days, but they arent great.
Every other brand of headphone ive tried the controls have not worked properly including the Klipsch image s4a and Jays ones. For some reason HTC doesnt like their button controller software and third party software doesnt work either, even the apps for HTC redial fix (the problem is that multiple button presses cause the HTC to redial last number instead of, for example, change track). As far as I know the ONLY solutions available if you want to track change is the Beats v1 (make sure you dont get iBeats, they dont work) or the HTC store ones with the track change button.

ON HTC ONE SV WITH BEATS BY DRE (v.1), 32GB SANDISK CLASS 10 SD, JB 4.2.2, SENSE 5 (stock OTA ROM)

I've been using jay birds now for over a year, on my htc evo, then on my one. They are bluetooth, have volume control,
can change the tracks back and forth and answer phone calls. Pretty decent sound too.
Every feature you want and they all work.

I've been searching for a while now and after buying and trying numerous pairs, these are the only ones that give you decent sound AND let you control the volume, skip, back and other functions like they are supposed to.

I have http://www.amazon.com/Beats-urBeats-In-Ear-Earbud-Headphones/dp/B00ECQ6ORQ and they work great. Can skip forward/back, pause, take calls. The sound quality is very good, seem to have good balance with highs and bass. The mic works well, too, and seems to have some noise-cancelling qualities. Callers that I've asked said the sound is very good even when I'm in a windy or noisy environment.

Not as good as UrBeats

These are not as good as the Beats by Dre (UrBeats) for HTC in my opinion, have you compared? Sound quality is lower in the official HTC site ones, although they sit slightly better in my ear. Maybe just my opinion, anyone care to comment?

Yes these seem to be our only real option beside official HTC rubbish at the moment. I am taking a risk and trying out the UrBeats v2 which should arrive this week, in the hope they work like UrBeats v1 (that you have linked above). If they work too I will let you know. They do look quite a lot like the official HTC ones though, on the one hand seems promising on the other hand, hope the drivers are better.

Thanks for the suggestion and may use it as a last resort if you say it works, but I am averse to bluetooth audio because the bandwidth is low (i believe the same as radio quality) so normally doesnt sound great (the same reason bluetooth speakers are a bad idea as I understand it). Looking for a good old wired version.
---------- Post added at 12:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 PM ----------
It has ocurred to me (and I have done similar mods before) that you used to be able to buy a calbe with mic/controls on it that you could plug any old headphones into with a normal jack, and it just had a normal jack port at the end of the line.
Can anyone think of any reason that taking a cheap pair of HTC headphones with inline mic/controller and chopping off the buds and soldering on a normal jack wouldnt work? Seems like that could almost be a small business if it does (just a controller with headphone jack mod), since we are reduced to so few options as HTC users, and few of them have decent sound quality....
Might give it a go and let you know...have a few spare pairs of HTC controller headphones around...

beats by dre
Most beats by dre are compatible with HTC 3.5 mm jacks. Apple products do not work because the jacks are made differently, so there is nothing you can do :/ The app Headphone button control on play store can help you reassign buttons. good luck

Not all Beats by Dre are button-compatible. They must specifically state they are for Android or HTC. Many of the discounted Beats phones you find online are only compatible with Apple products. I've noticed that if the control pod (the block on the wire where the buttons/mic are located) is shaped like a diamond, it is ONLY Apple compatible. If it is a slim straight cylinder, then it is likely Android/HTC compatible.

I have to ask... why wouldn't they? It's a standard, after all.
Or do you have some other definition of "work"?
there's a ton of stuff out there that's better and cheaper than the iPhone buds. But I guess if you have nothing else to use...
i dont like htc issued headsets. theyre too long and too big for my ears. i never liked em.
I'm pretty sure they would, maybe not the volume buttons but the single press for pause double for skip and triple for previous has worked on a few blackberries I've had. So I don't see why not

If the OP was asking about the ones with the integrated volume controls... those are proprietary to Apple. There's no reason they would work on an Android phone.
I dont see why they wouldnt work, They do in my other android device. I personally like mine because I sleep streaming music and they are comfortable in my ear when I roll my head. (the mic works too)

I doubt the volume control on any of the headphones meant for an iPhone is gonna work on an Android device... But if you just want a good quality pair of headphones with great SQ and a mic, there's plenty of choices out there. I just bought the MEElectronics M9P straight from their site for $23 w/S&H (coupon code "SHIPPING_COUPON" knocked a few bucks off shipping). They should be a nice upgrade from my Sennheiser CX300 which are 4 years old and still kicking, but I wanted something w/a mic.
I've got a pair of JVC HA-FX34 which I use to exercise (less cord noise than the CX300) and by most accounts the MEElec's should be an upgrade over that as well... Just throwing it out there since I know they're fairly common headphones at retail, might be a point of reference. Head-Fi.org is a great resource for this kinda stuff. Other popular choices are the NuForce NE-7M, Maximo iP-HS5, Apple's own dual driver IEMs, etc. Most of those are $40-50 tho and the M9P seemed like a great value judging by the many comparisons between them and some of the pricier competition.
Newegg's selling the M9P as well btw, FWIW (as is Amazon).
Meelectronics makes some great stuff. I have their M6's, which are straight earbuds, fantastic SQ for the money spent. The M9s are supposed to be an amazing bang for the buck if you need a mic.
i saw these bad boys on sale earlier:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DERZK0/
i think it's what i'm going to go with
I'm really hoping the mic works with the iPhone earbuds cause I know that they didnt work on the HTC Hero which was disappointing... it recognized it as a headset but no audio in worked.

I have a pair of V-Moda (Faze) earphones / mic and use them on my Hero (and Pre) all the time... I'd say u should be good to go with those. SN: They sound great, BTW (but one of my earphones stopped working :-( .. but I'm sending them in for a warranty replacement )

**The Play/Stop button works too BTW
From what I've experienced (on the Hero at least), is that the iPhone headphones work for your music and its recognized as a headset but the microphone is not functional. I guess the jack isnt touching the right connectors or something. From the display model of the EVO, it looks a little more promising... I hope they work. I have Shure headphones meant for the iPhone but I wanna use them on my EVO!
The apple earphones don't work on Nokias too. The mic ring is positioned differently compared to standrad earphones with mic.
Has anyone tried using the mic?

Beats Tour + EVO 3D

I bough Beats Tour earphones, and only afterwards I went on the beats website to find out why my volume up and down buttons dont work. It turns out, only bloody apples have the suitable "Hardware?". It looks like it has same jack as evo 3D.
But I just want to clearify, for me and other Beats Tour earphone users. Is there a software for androids that would allow to read them extra buttons on headset, or is it truely hardware limitation.. Couse It would KILL ME to say, that Apple is better in this way... (Like theres not enough iphone only products)
Beats anything are a gimmick. Not to mention overpriced and overrated.

I don't think that there is any software that you can get that would make the buttons work because they are designed for an iphone.

I would give it 8/10 for the mic. When you try to use it, you would expect to work perefctly, but I heard complains over the other end of the call.. But i believe it might be due to the connection, couse I didnt had a chance to hear myself through the mic.. I think the mic is fine.. But I would recommend not to buy, unless u have an iPhone Becouse you get this feeling that all the money u paid, and yet cant use all of its features (Volume up/down Buttons)
I wonder if this this going to be the case with every HTC phone
the beats tour and ibeats control talk will not work on htc or any android phones. there is a android version called urbeats that have control talk for android phones can be found on att ,t mobile and sprint website.
Headset Button Controller is $3 for the app and has a free 2 week trial version. I've used it with great success to program the center button of iphone compatible headphones to also work for volume up, volume down, skipping tracks etc. For example, mine is such that a long press raises volume, while click then long press lowers volume. Decent work around solution.
List of headset and headphones that work all three buttons & mic
- urbeats
- htc beats solo
- Sony smart headset
- Nocs NS200H-001

Nice!
Nice earbuds and Nice phone!
There is a workaround to this that I saw.
Get Sony Ericsson buds that split at the middle where the buttons are. Dunno if you can get the half with buttons alone. Split it,then plug in your beats to the top half. Use the Ericsson buttons. Sorted. Also works with solo and studio headphones.

You can make studios and if bought the iphone verion of solos work with htc if u buy the cable for it

I would recommend to sell the beats and buy a bit better ones But of course i dont say those are bad! Just beats are a bit overpriced

[Q] Headphones with in-line mic that work with Android/One X

I'm looking for some headphones, specifically in-ear ones, that work with Android and have a built in Mic and volume controls. I know that many of the ones made for iPod/iPhone don't work with Android properly so I want to make sure I don't make this mistake. I'd quite like the earphones to be good quality ones in the price range of £30 - £90 if possible. I've looked around but not found much. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm using ones from my SGSII. Work perfectly, nice deep base, mic works perfectly fine as well.
Overall, I'd say my SGSII headphones are surprisingly the best earbuds I ever had. To my ear, best frequencies.
So perhaps you can just buy SGSII replacement buds.
Beats in-ear earphones. At hmv they are reasonably cheap. I'm pretty sure you can find ones for less if you try gumtree or eBay. Just make sure they're genuine, Fake ones WILL break within a few days (past experience). http://m.hmv.com/product/details/171063 <---- those are really good quality, and well within your price range.

You should try these out. They are called a-JAYS ONE+, and they are made for android. They also have their own android app where you can customize the button to perform different functions (change track, adjust volume, launch apps etc) the app is called JAYS headset control. The headphones are really good themselves. I would have posted the links, but since I'm new I gotta wait. But I hope it helps

2 clicks - next song
3 clicks - rewind songs
hold the button - volume up
click + hold button - volume down

iPhone Headphone to Galaxy S3 converter cable?

Anyone know a cable converter that will work for the Galaxy S3 (like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-iPhon...e-Samsung-HTC-LG-/140574981373#ht_3686wt_1163)
I have Klipsch S4i headphones that have volume control for the iPhone only. I want to use these headphones with FUNCTIONAL volume control with the Galaxy S3.
If you find one, let me know. This is one of my major gripes with Samsung. I managed to get headphones working with my Samsung Galaxy S using a Nokia headphone remote control, but this doesn't work on the SIII.
Why can't they just use the same standard as everyone else.
Or possibly sell an adaptor, and educate their store staff - went to the popup Samsung store in Spitalfields Market (London) today and they had no idea what I was talking about. The sales assistant finally admitted that his headphones don't work with his S2 either. But was clueless as to how to help.
?!?!
this i would really like!
i`ve got a pair of beats headphones and they did not work at all with my first sgs
but now with the s3, the centre button works, answering calls, pausing and skipping tracks, and the mic also works, but the volume doesn`t...
Yeah the S4i also has a working center button but no functioning volume control (which is what I mostly use...don't really care about a mic)
The other adapter I looked at is called Fiio LU2 but I have not seen anyone specifically use it for the SG3.

still nothing?

Btw,yesterday I try using them again and another thing I noticed is that even if the sound quality is waaaaay better with my Sony, the volume is much more lower than the included Samsing's. So it's not only a matter of the voulme button not working. And today I'm back with the Samsung's...

Yeah, I wont mind paying $30 to get my Pro's working properly with my sweet phone..
Hmm...the ones that come with the S3 have volume control. I hope some headphone manufacturers can reverse-engineer it. I think it has to do with how the parts of the jack are arranged. Because I know on the iPhone the ground part is switched.
Klipsch S4i Reference w/ Mic
I just tried using my Klipsch S4i Reference w/ Mic headphones and the center button + ear buds work but the volume and microphone do not work. I'd appreciate it if anyone discovers an adapter that converts iPhone headphones to work with the Samsung Galaxy S III. Anybody know why it is this way? I've compared the Samsung headphone jack to the Kilpsch ones and I don't see much of a difference...

well, I can change tracks in power amp with that button click option, not in the normal player. In that, the centre button plays/pauses the track.
How did you manage to change the volume on the s3?
10.00 adapter
For 10.00 you can buy the Meelec ADPTR-TRRS-35. I would post the link, but I cant because I'm a new user. If you just type it in to Google, it'll show up. Also, if you're good with soldering, you can buy the tips and solder them yourself. I bought gold plated and its lasted me years with my original galaxy.

Why does it say on the site ``This adapter will not enable the mic/volume buttons of a 3-button Apple compatible headset to work with non-Apple devices``?
I am toying with taking the buds off my iphone headphones ( i like the buds not the in ear stuff) and soldering them to the samsung cable... i know it might be sacrlidge to do so with more expensive headphones but... dangerous times... drastic measures and such.....
I have a rogers s3 rooted running CM 10 and the headphones NOW work. Function keys all working correctly So this was clearly a software limitation.

While I was in Samsung country last month (Seoul), I went to a few headphone/audio retail shops which let you test out almost ANY brand of headphones you'd like--and apparent this has been a big issue for Samsung users (since most volume control + mic headphones out there are built to work for and certified for use with Apple). One method they taught me (aside from rooting and hacking ROMs), was to download this app called "JAYS". This app will somehow allow the microphones to work on many brands (I use Sennheisers personally) whereas it would not work before due to the different in impedance. The app also creates shortcuts using the working center button, allowing short/long keypresses to do quite a lot (i.e. short press + long press will lower volume, double short press will skip tracks, etc) by turning the center button (which works on MOST headphoens) into a morse code-like button.
I have yet to find a ROM out there that allows my Sennheisers (MM80i, MM70i) to work with the volume buttons, but I've been happy with the JAYS app.

Wired Headphones with remote control

Hello,
I've bought the SGS2 a few days ago. The headphones have a quite nice sound.
Although play/pause and next track aren't OK for me. I'd need a possibility to
control the volume.
Could you pls recommend an alternative (and a wide spread one , so I could find
that also in my country) wired headset, which would support also volume control
on the SGS2.
I have been searching on this forum, but I didn't find a clear answer, rather just
workarounds or talks about workarounds...
Thank you!
Not sure myself on what you could do, but you could try using JKay's app (must be purchased through play store and have framework) to enable "Volume Buttons Toggle Sound" maybe that might fix your problem? I have wired earphones myself with the mic and volume bit and I can change volume by pressing and change track by holding in.
Hopefully maybe someone else will post something helpful but this is what I would do. Good luck!

Hello D3_ and thanks for your reply...
Your link points to a different topic - it is about people who want to keep the microphone of S2 and want to attach another headphones
(which don't have a microphone). I just accidentally found a semi-solution for me - I just looked at the S3 headphones of a friend and I
was very surprised to find out, that there are 3 buttons - one long button for volume + / - and another button for accepting phone calls.
I have immediately tested it and everything works under AstroPlayer, which is the player I'm currently using.
But unfortunately not everything is that simple as it sounds. It seems that Samsung makes these headphones only in white, as my
friend's one are white, despite of the fact that his phone is pebble blue. And my SGS2 is noble black, so you can imagine that I
wouldn't want white headphones :-/
I'll try to check Nokia headphones these days...
I have the white ones, as they came with my Galaxy Tab 7 +.
Apart from being white (and I'm not snobbish enough to really care), they're perfect.
Great sound quality, volume controls & on/off/skip track functionality...
Get a HTC RC E160 wired headset, all buttons work (though the left and right buttons changed function when I upgraded from GB 2.3.5 to ICS 4.0.3; they were skip in GB, but they became volume with ICS). I cut the earpieces off one set and soldered a 3.5mm stereo inline jack socket in their place so I could use nicer headphones with Mic and headset controls.

I personally LOVE Jay's headsets. I've got a pair of the A-JAYS earbuds with remote and in line mic, awesome sound quality, but my model has a one button remote. No big deal, their companion Android application provides additional functionality that let's you click&hold and do other patterns for different functions like volume and seeking. I do know they make a 3-button version too, but typically it costs $20 more. Available online in North America and most of Europe.

It looks like a black version is available: http://www.ebay.it/itm/160843796626#ht_1366wt_1165. These are Samsung part number GH-59-11721A / EHS64AVFBE. The white ones are GH-59-11720A / EHS64AVFBE.

I got V-Moda M80 from amazon few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with my purchase. They are very well built and sound quality is even more impressive. But the feature that helped me make my decision was the build in mic for receiving/making calls.
If you have the money go for them you wont be disappointed

Yes ,but you need the htc solo version
(they only make one color white). Htc version works on samsung Nokia lumia
Sony as volume.
Nokia purity hd also works on Samsung too
(make sure your box does not say made for iPhone or iPod)

darkstar wrote just few posts above yours he has a pair.
I have a-JAYS One+ and I can not say anyhting bad about them. Great sound clarity and good basses, can be tweaked as to press/doublepress timing etc with their free apk which provides multiple options for controlling them better. Simply great piece of earphones. Mic is working great too. and above all, tangle free cable and great chinch is giving great user experience for me too.
Either these or more expensive versions will do, though Klispch S2 are great (tried them out, but settled with a-JAYS) etc... I tossed original earphones in the trash, seeing total failure Samsung is exercising when they include such POS with so high end phone. Same goes for S3, even though you see people posting how great those are. It is not so for me, and I tried them just to be sure I'm right. 3 of my friends has these with their SGS3 and I tried them - shallow sound with no good fidelity for me (phone calls are ok, but calling party is sounding like cheap radio for me). Well, guess what? They tried my a-JAYS One+, Creative Aurvana buds too, my Sony MDR-Z700 (original) headphones and even my old SE in_ear HPM70 short corded buds - all far better then POS Samsung is including with their top gamma phones.
