Cant seem to unlock boot loader
I have an HTC One X AT&T running Android version 4.1.1, software 3.18.502.6 710RD.
I have been wanting to install a new rom, but am having trouble getting past unlocking the bootloader.
I have installed the drivers numerous times, tried using many methods with HTC DEV, using adb shell, and more forum post guidelines to count and still can not successfully complete any process..
Is the new update keeping me from installing a new rom? Have I not found the right guide yet?
Also despite different drivers, htc sync still dont recognize the phone.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks all
You probably have the dual-core evita version, you need to go to the at&t, HTC one xl forum ! This is all for the quad-core tegra 3 models

Hello everyone, I've been using this forum for a few months to download roms for my desire s but this is my first post on here.
Ok here goes. I've successfully rooted and flashed many different roms on my desire s for over a year now but recently brought my girlfriend a wildfire s and have been trying too root it for over a week now. I've tried all the different tools such oas one click and htc manager but I'm really stuck.
The phone came with the bootloader already unlocked and with s on, so I've started trying to flash a few different recoveries with different tools and it reboots and just gives me the white screen with the green htc logo for ages and nothing else, I've also tried putting the recovery file onto my sd card and letting it install from the h boot but it either says cid incorrect update fail or something about model unknown update fail.
I've been trawling this forum for the last week and tried so many different things but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is the phone gsm or CDMA? Gsm=sim card, CDMA =no sim card. Depending on what it is, there are some good step by step instructions here in the forum. Some roms come rooted already.
hello and thanks for the replies , my phone is gsm it has a sim card . ive read about the pre rooted roms and thats kind of my last resort at the moment cause i dont wanna lose everything on the phone .
i dont know how to flash cmd is it difficult ?
also can i flash a pre rooted rom with just my bootloader unlocked ??
thanks for the advice
Hello fellow One-X'ers, I am coming from a long line of Samsung devices and have only had one HTC phone in the past, (HD2).
I cant for life of me figure out how to root this phone, I have tried the conventional method, alternate root method, im getting nothing... Bootloader will not unlock through htcdev (which it says to do in half of the root how-tos), i always see error 160 invalid MID...
I have installed and updated the following:
-Java
-HTC Mobile drivers as well as sync
-SDK
-Fastboot
wtf am I missing here? I just want to get a new rom as this sense stuff absolutely sucks. Yes I have searched, yes I have read...
What phone have you got? If I remember correctly the "Error 160" / "invalid MID" responses are returned when you try and use HTCDev to unlock the AT&T One X (actually the One XL) which doesn't support unlocking the bootloader in that way.
Boot into the bootloader and check the model name displayed at the top of the screen: if it says "evita" then that's your problem, and you'll need to head over to the forums for your particular device to get some help because none of the stuff in this section will work - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
If the bootloader shows "endeavoru" then you are in the right place, but in that case I don't know what the problem is.
Uninstall HTC sync, keep the USB drivers mind.

All,
I have just bought a 'new to me' Rogers HTC One X. It already had JB 4.1.1 installed.
I managed to unlock the bootloader via htcdev without issue and managed to flash TWRP 2.3.3 installed via Hasoon2000's tool however it is unusable because the touchscreen doesn't work within it. Is there a work around for this?
I also cannot root the device through the various one-click approaches listed here.
Any help you can offer on rooting it and getting a recovery manager working would be appreciated.
If you need any details from me (various version numbers, etc.) please let me know. I've been out of the Android world for a while so you may need to tell me where to look.
Cheers!
Can you please confirm that you have the international tegra 3 quadcore One X codenamed EndeavorU?
Does it say endeavoru in the bootloader screen?

Sorry - I thought I had the Rogers/AT&T sub. Moving on...
It's okay. Consider yourself lucky you didn't get bricked.

Do you meet all the requirements below?
HTC drivers installed and working – fastboot AND adb drivers
HTC sync removed (not closed – REMOVED)
All other phone software removed or disabled (Samsung Kies, PDANet, etc.)
VM’s are unsupported.
ALL firewalls and internet security applications should be totally disabled. If you get stuck with rows and rows of dots during the connection test process, it’s network filtering or other network issue!

Hi! I am trying to run rumrunner (version rumrunner_m7wlv_1.10.605.15) and having major failures
I have tried Windows 7 64 bit, then Windows 7 32 bit
now I am on Linux, installed as a dual boot with Windows 7.
Followed all instructions to a T, double and triple checked every setting, etc.
I have already ensured these things:
-ADB and Fastboot commands working in Terminal
-Fastboot is UNchecked
-USB Debugging enabled
-Fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04, 32 bit w/Pentium dual core CPU T440
Here's what happens when I run the program:

I have read so many tutorials and instructions, and am really hoping to find someone who can help me with this! I am not sure what to do next. Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I user MIRC for help, and was able to get help there from BEAUPS. The issue was that I had 2 identical phones, requiring different versions of rumrunner. The problem wasn;t on my end, it had to do with the server that rumrunner connects to (maybe @beaups can clarify? ) I spent so long trying to figure it all out when I should have just got in touch with the developers in the first place. Thanks guys, working great now!
tried all rumrunner versions
i tried all the versions, 605.2 is the one required for my device. It errors out on the chilling stage and asks me to rerun the software. I tried and got further with .15 but it gives me an error on the chilling step and says "rom or root issue? unexpected behavior detected - flash different rom and try again" . I tried all the versions after that one with no luck. Has this been patched?
Im running 4.4.3 sense 6.0

Rumrunner is dead to m7vzw with 4.4.3 and beyond.
You have one option, that is Sunshine s-off for $25 bucks.
Or else find someone with a Java card, pay shipping, service fee, return shipping and be without your phone for a week.
No other options exist, period.
I tried installing this and it gives me the following error:
looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!!
This is a Verizon M7 with Android 4.4.2 and Sense 6.0. I tried installing root but it seems I need to be s-off to do this. I just got this phone today.
Hello everyone,
Italian are a new user, to start with I wanted to congratulate you for your bravery for many guides root and various changes that have posted and thanks to you I have changed many android devices without problems.
only that today I have a little problem I bought a new terminal HTC M8s (CPU octa-core sense 6.0)
do not get confused with the M8 normal quad core,
as the operating system is Android 5.0.2, version 6.0 HTc sense with kernel-gd8accf1 3.10.49 and wanted to do the complete root, I did a search and found only guide the M8 normal I tried to run and I could unlock the bootloader but I can not make the root, any of you can help me to do it?
I recently entered the recovery to install the superSU, trying to access with the power and volume buttons Jun I press to start recovery from the phone but left with a black screen and the LED blinks red, I understand
it seems that the recovery for the htc m8 is not compatible with my m8s
or if you have already made a step by step guide to send me the direct link
Thanks in advance
There is a thread with the recovery discussion going already in the Q&A section (where this one belongs too)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3114245
hi, I have also tried to root for my HTC One M8S
I managed to unlock the bootloader but I could not do root
for the recovery I tried to enter various versions available for M8
but when I do recovery from the screen remains blank, and the red LED flashes seems that is not compatible, for if you have found a solution?
I can not start the recovery from the phone properly and make the root
nice to see a new discussion start for M8s .. cant w8 for rooting device
