What software version are you running?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Free mobile app
version im using
Im using this version for the verizon m7
1.10.605.2.
rumrunner_m7wlv_1.10.605.2.zip*- 20.1 MB
Do you meet all the requirements below?
HTC drivers installed and working – fastboot AND adb drivers
HTC sync removed (not closed – REMOVED)
All other phone software removed or disabled (Samsung Kies, PDANet, etc.)
VM’s are unsupported.
ALL firewalls and internet security applications should be totally disabled. If you get stuck with rows and rows of dots during the connection test process, it’s network filtering or other network issue!

[s-off] rumrunner s-off for Verizon HTC One[/thread][/B][/SIZE]
Hi! I am trying to run rumrunner (version rumrunner_m7wlv_1.10.605.15) and having major failures
I have tried Windows 7 64 bit, then Windows 7 32 bit
now I am on Linux, installed as a dual boot with Windows 7.
Followed all instructions to a T, double and triple checked every setting, etc.
I have already ensured these things:
-ADB and Fastboot commands working in Terminal
-Fastboot is UNchecked
-USB Debugging enabled
-Fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04, 32 bit w/Pentium dual core CPU T440
Here's what happens when I run the program:

I have read so many tutorials and instructions, and am really hoping to find someone who can help me with this! I am not sure what to do next. Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I user MIRC for help, and was able to get help there from BEAUPS. The issue was that I had 2 identical phones, requiring different versions of rumrunner. The problem wasn;t on my end, it had to do with the server that rumrunner connects to (maybe @beaups can clarify? ) I spent so long trying to figure it all out when I should have just got in touch with the developers in the first place. Thanks guys, working great now!
tried all rumrunner versions
i tried all the versions, 605.2 is the one required for my device. It errors out on the chilling stage and asks me to rerun the software. I tried and got further with .15 but it gives me an error on the chilling step and says "rom or root issue? unexpected behavior detected - flash different rom and try again" . I tried all the versions after that one with no luck. Has this been patched?
Im running 4.4.3 sense 6.0

Rumrunner is dead to m7vzw with 4.4.3 and beyond.
You have one option, that is Sunshine s-off for $25 bucks.
Or else find someone with a Java card, pay shipping, service fee, return shipping and be without your phone for a week.
No other options exist, period.
I tried installing this and it gives me the following error:
looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!!
This is a Verizon M7 with Android 4.4.2 and Sense 6.0. I tried installing root but it seems I need to be s-off to do this. I just got this phone today.

Hello All,
I would have posted this in the rumrunner for vzw one forum but I am a new member so I cannot post on dev forums yet. I need to achieve s-off because I want to install CWM and install the stable build of CM10.2 that came out yesterday. I am by no means a noob as I been rooting and flashing custom roms on every android phone I have ever owned all the way back to the OG Droid. Although I am by no means a professional either, I guess I am just good at following write ups online put together by the people that actually build for Android.............or so I thought.
I followed a couple of articles I found online about using Rumrunner for the vzw one to achieve s-off for the device. I have installed the correct htc drivers and have disabled all firewalls and antivirus programs running. The device has USB debugging enabled as is all security settings on the device are are turned of just like the articles say. The trouble is when I execute rumrunner the program goes through the usual test ( boots into fastboot and then adb) and then reboots into fastboot, and then adb again. Then it says device detected and then says waiting for device. Here is where the trouble begins. The program will just sit there and say waiting for device and keep rebooting the device and looks like this below ( I cannot screenshot it because I have already closed it out but it looks just like below)
Waiting for Device
...........................................
Waiting for Device
............................................
Waiting for Device
...........................................
Waiting for Device
............................................
Waiting for Device
.............................................
Waiting for Device
.............................................
It will just keep doing this and whille rumrunner is doing that on the computer, the device is rebooting, staying on the homescreen like a normal startup, and then rebooting again. I have tried this on two computers and it gets stuck at the same spot. Any help would be great appreciated I have no idea what im doing wrong
Thanks
Sounds like you're using the wrong version for your firmware. Double check in settings about phone software info. You'll need to make sure firmware numbers match the version of rumrunner you're using. Either .2 .8 .10 or .15 at the end of the number

This is exactly right. I had the same problem as you. I just needed to use the .15 instead of .10 or whatever I was using. I now have s-off, I just don't know how to actually root it from here
To root you need to flash either twrp or cwm recoveries and flash superuser or supersu via those. Check the original development sections for flyhalfs post of either recovery. Download them and boot into fastboot USB. Then open fastboot from the same folder the adb.exe file is in and use the command ' fastboot flash recovery (whatever you name the file).IMG this will give you recovery. And I'm out of time on break to give directions for superuser hopefully someone can post the rest
Make sure you put the recovery image into the same folder as adb

Got my shiny new M8 today.
Was following Vomers excellent guide to get it ready for my custom ROM of choice however have hit some snags.
Wanted to get some advice before I get myself further into trouble...
Was able to unlock the bootloader OK via HTCDev and get root, TWRP installed per normal.
S-OFF with firewater failed, which is fine for some devices I know, so I thought I'd use Sunshine. This also failed with Viper ROM installed, so I installed MaximusHD, Sunshine also fails (incompatible ROM).
My CID is HTC__044.
HBOOT 3.16
My radio version now shows INVALID_VER_INFO
and OS is blank.
However the phone functions and I can use the mobile network OK...
Any tips as to how I can get to S-OFF so that I can install the firmware package again?
I'm pretty sure it had 1.54 before I started (I recorded it elsewhere)
Thanks
You need to restore your backup and it should then work and once S-OFF you can flash the FW package which will fill the blanks in again on the HBOOT

Of course - my 'backup'
The one I didn't make because I recklessly just jumped into rooting/SOFF given it was a new phone with none of my data on it....
I'll try the stockish package from mike1986 and see if I can get Sunshine to run. Fingers crossed

Mike's package is the EU unbranded phone (I think your phone is an Asian one) but it should do the job in terms of gaining S-OFF

Yeah I know its limited CIDs and mine isn't included, I just want to be able to get Sunshine to run and then I should be back on track to super CID and S-OFF to get fw loaded properly.
It installed ok (from here in case anyone else managed to be as silly as me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235).
yay! Sunshine runs now. I am somewhat relieved...
Phone is now S-OFF and correctly reporting the radio and open DSP versions
delete
I made s-off after some attemps with firewater
When m8 will reboot, wait to see usb icon on screen device, than begins with shell commands
in superSU also "allow root when boot"
just so in the end it worked for me
S-Off Failed, now invalid Radio & OpenDSP, OS- (Blank)
Interesting Similar Posts_
I'm definitely not an advanced developer, but slowly learning my way around.
I have successfully unlocked and rooted my HTC One M8, and flashed only the Teamwin (TWRP) custom recovery v2.7.1.0 I have not flashed a custom rom and really do not intend to anytime soon --likely until I learn more. However, I wanted to go ahead and S-OFF. I attempted to use "Firewater", but it failed --"Welp . . . etc." During the attempts --after entering: "adb reboot" the installing htc driver process kept failing showing sometimes "MTP and debugging disconnected" and sometimes each just "failed". However, the phone shows both connected, and adb commands continue to work just fine. However, S-OFF continued to fail. Then I noticed that both HBoot lines Radio & OpenDSP showed "Invalid_Ver_INFO, and the OS- was blank.
Like one of posts; I do not have a back-up of my phone (nandroid) immediately after rooting, but as I said, I have not flashed a custom rom. Otherwise, my personal data is backed-up. Should I have flashed the custom recovery twice similarly as mentioned about flashing the stock rom instance described?
So far, I have only seen mention of "Sunshine" on XDA, and have been continuing to research first before I do anything else.
For now, my objective is to resolve the invalid notices in HBoot, and attain S-OFF. I don't really care about the "tampered" and "unlocked" flags for now --other than the hindrance of block of OTA Updates.
My pursuit of S-OFF has been pushed as I was trying to overcome the Ext SD-Card "write" block, when I noticed that Titanium uninstalls and other "write" file related actions would not remain permanent. The "app SD fixes" have not worked and the "manual fix" of permissions "Platform.xlm" file global ". . . media_ rw/" does not stay either. So subsequently, I began thinking/anticipating that the lack of S-OFF may be related to this problem. Perhaps I'm way-wrong on this point, but none-the-less I'm now pushing the resolution of my S-OFF issue also.
Guidance from anyone would certainly be appreciated. As addressed in the S-OFF post involving the mention of "Sunshine" I certainly don't mind paying the cost to gain S-OFF if it will work. I respect and appreciate the work of developers and often subsequently purchase Pro app versions simply to add donation to free versions etc. Sorry for the long post, and will be much shorter in the future!
Thanks for any help!

Hello! You can try these instructions that a quoted. But there have been reports that HBOOT 3.18 is not compatible with firewater, some say Sunshine S-Off is the only way left. Sunshine was created by the devs of firewater but they insist on charging (playing) for this one. In the case it is not compatible with your device they won't take charge you.
ETA:
Here's what I did for those that care
Purchased the phone from AT&T online
Received it yesterday. Software number 1.12.502.18
Used HTCDev to unlock the bootloader
Used this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2699065
To Root and Install TWRP
Installed HTC SynManager and it installed the drivers. I LEFT HTC SYNCMANAGER INSTALLED. I was going to uninstall HTC Syncmanager if I ran into problems
Turned off Screenlock
From Developers Menu, made sure I checked do not put device to sleep when plugged in
Screen Timeout was set to 1 hour
USB Debugging on
Install from Unknown Sources was checked as well
My AndroidSDK folder is in the root of my C: Drive, I placed the firewater file in the Platform Tools folder and "Shift+Right Click" and selected Open Command Window Here
I followed the steps posted on the firewater-soff.com site
adb wait-for-device push firewater /data/local/tmp
adb shell
su
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/firewater
/data/local/tmp/firewater
I DID NOT DO ADB REBOOT COMMAND
I don't think I did anything special, but in case anyone else has an AT&T Phone with the same software number, you could give it a try and let us know how it turns out?
Good luck folks!

"This will load the image to your device and all you have to to now is wait for your phone to boot the image. Once you are in the 'recovery' you should see a orange purple background.

Regaining root access on 4.4.4? philz-recovery and stock rom via htc one m8 toolkit
So I made the bad choice of upgrading to 4.4.4 already (or so it seems to be bad) on my unlocked htc one m8 phone.
I originally rooted on 4.4.3 with the htc one m8 toolkit and followed the root with stock recovery manual using the philz cwm recovery. I then decided to upgrade to 4.4.4. via the software update on the phone
Basically tried to upload the image again so I could root again and it just crashes at the fastboot menu. I also tried to load the twrp recovery and it just rebooted my phone.
The main question: do I basically just have to wait for some update to come about for the philz_recovery image? Or is there potential i'm doing something wrong on 4.4.4.
EDIT: fixed it.. for some reason couldn't flash over the philz recover image.. maybe I did something wrong, but I got the TWRP to work through a standard fastboot flash recovery.. Back in business.
failed root
Once you have the bootloader unlocked download this recovery:
Philz CWM Advanced Edition Recovery
Then go back into the bootloader (you can use the 'ADB' section of the toolkit) and make sure its in FASTBOOT USB mode.
Once you are in the bootloader you'll need to open up a cmd window.
Once that's open you'll need to type:
Code:
fastboot boot
(leave a space after 'boot') then drag the recovery image we downloaded earlier onto the cmd window.
This will load the image to your device and all you have to to now is wait for your phone to boot the image. Once you are in the 'recovery' you should see a orange purple background. Goto:
=> Philz Options (something like that. Its near the bottom of the list)
=> Root device (SuperSU) {its near the top of the list)
This will root your device or at least put the SU Binaries on your phone. All you have to do is reboot your phone. (Keep going back untill you see 'reboot device now'.)
When your phone is booted up just goto the Play Store and download SuperSU by Chainfire. Open it up and you should have root! This will keep the stock recovery so you can install firmware updates later on from HTC.
I hope this helped!

Help Please!!! Installing OTA Update on rooted HTC ONE M8
I recently rooted my One M8 (with no issues) using Hasoon 2000's excellent tool.
Yesterday my phone flashed up the OTA for KitKat 4.4.4 and I downloaded, but when I tried to install it took me to TWRP recovery where I selected the OTA zip file ran it but it didn't update. When I booted back into android the update flashed up again asking if I wanted to install. Tried again but no luck
Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to install the update please?
Many thanks
HTC One M8 Toolkit
I'm about to hit my One M8 with a sledgehammer. I've been trying to root it with the toolkit but when I hit Get Token ID it says that the device can't be found. I've read through the whole thread and have tried everything suggested that isn't too advanced. I've tried it with two different computers and the same thing happens: nothing. I've installed HTC Sync Manager on both PCs and the software doesn't detect the phone in neither. Windows does detect it.

I used this guide. After finding out my model is not compatible with firewater to S-OFF and not wanting to pay for sunshine, I had to use OTAs to update the firmware. You don't need to delete root access but you need to flash stock recovery back to use the OTA update. Its removes root access anyway but SuperSU is still installed.
I do think you need to unlock the bootloader to gain root through custom recovery as you said.
i have a doubt since you have closed the links for htc one m7 root toolkit does this one m8 toolkit work on m7 too??
rooting problem
hey i am using the htc one m8 eye i have unlocked my bootloader, the software status on the bootloader mode reads
device software: modified
*unlocked*
but shows s-on
after flashing the twrp recovery many times my device still doesnt seem to open up twrp and whenever i click recovery it boots back to the fastboot page in the bootloader, i am really stuck
can someone please guide how to go about this now? as i have no clue what to do next.
thank you.

Rooting HTC One (M8) Question
So I'm trying to root my HTC One (M8), I've downloaded Hasoon2000's toolkit. I'm to the point where I am trying Boot Into Bootloader, but every time I run that, it says device not found. I have debugging on and everything. Any help is appreciated...
I need help unlocking the bootloader!
So I tried following the directions on htcdev.com but i came to the part where i type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" and type it into adb and it just sits there at "<waiting for device>". I have done everything correctly to the best of my knowledge. Now i did a little troubleshooting and found out that my one m8 is recognized by adb when the phone is booted up and in the OS but when I go to the bootloader by typing "adb reboot bootloader" and it goes to bootloader and i type the command to get the token is says waiting for device again so then I typed adb devices and ithe phone is not recognized. I have no idea why this is happening so I'm relying on this Q&A thread for help. Tried googling and so far I've gotten "switch USB ports". I've switched it and it hasn't worked. I've also tried using the tool and i get the same result and i followed all the directions from the toolkit from step 1 to 5. Thanks in advance for any help.
