I sent my friend an unlocked t999 to use overseas in Taiwan. Using his post paid (Far Eastone) sim card he can only use some data. Voip calls like Tango and Line Naver works. Web and picture messaging does not work. Data messaging apps (whatsapp, cubie, and etc) works kind of weird as text will work but picture messaging will not.
Tried sim card from 2 other Taiwanese carriers on the t999 and data work flawlessly. Requested a new sim card from Far Eastone but same problem. Put the Far Eastone sim card into another friend's unlocked i9300 and data works flawlessly. Finally bought it to the sim card carrier and they mess with few settings on the phone (probably apn settings) and got data working flawlessly. Fast forward to today my friend had to factory reset the phone because of a battery drain issue. Data is once again not working.
I'm trying to understand what the problem is. Why would an unlocked I9300 work right off the bat but an unlocked t999 would not. Very strange as the t999 works with every foreign sim I have tried except this company.

Hey guys, I just got my Hercules (My precious!) in the mail and I am having a
network problem. I am currently on T mobile unlimited data (3G), minutes and texting and Wifi works fine when browsing on the internet
The sim card works perfectly on my Vibrant
Here are some screen shots that might be of help.
PS: No I am not from the future, disregard the time on the attachments
EDIT: I tried factory data reset/SD reset and it still didn't work.
Thanks!

under settings>wireless and network>mobile networks>, make sure the first option "use packet data" is checked. i've had a couple time that it was unchecked and therefore i had no data connection, but the phone still works in calls and texts. hope this helps.
I rooted and flashed the Juggernaut and checked and unchecked data packets and nothing works. Data, texting or incoming or outgoing calls do not work. I talked to Tmobile rep today and she told me it might be because my sim card is old, so I am going to get a new sim card tomorrow and hopefully it will work.

New sim card will be a 4G sim. Old ones according to T-Mo rep was a 2G sim. Newer phones need the newer sim card to run properly.
You need the new TM9177 sim card.
Go to a store and ask for one, just make sure they don't try to make you pay for it.
i have the gt-i9250 and i always used an at&t sim with it with out an issue, recently i wanted to switch to t-mobile (thinking the phone should be unlocked considering it was an international phone and was the yakjuxw than i flashed it to yakju which was wierd cause i had google wallet on it and it was working fine although i only thought it was compatible with takju, but anyway all and all i put it to the usa firmware of takju 4.0.4 not going to jellybean yet, but my issue is that i am not able to use the t-mobile sim card in it and i get this (look at screenshot where signal is) what does this mean and how come i cant get signal, when i go to settings and mobile networks it shows me the apn for t-mobile us but not selected so i select it than after i go to mobile networks and it shows t-mobile and at&t and when i click any of them they tell me its unable to connect and it cant connect to the network at this time, so what would this mean and how would i fix it so that i can use it with my t-mobile sim card, also i flashed the newer NA radio uglc1.
That is weird. It should work on either of them. It just means you have no signal. That is strange. You could've actually just popped the Sim right in. It didn't matter if you were using a ROM

Is the SIM activated for sure? I know when I switched to the T-mobile $30 plan it took it a good 15 minutes or so to activate, and then I didn't actually get signal until rebooting the phone for whatever reason.
Did you reboot your phone?
Although you can sometimes hot plug a sim card by turning on flight mode, taking the sim card out and toggling flight mode a few times, it won't work sometimes.
probably your cell imei not free and therefore can not change your sim.
There is an application called "****docomo" worth to release the imei. Make a backup just in case

Don't think he has a SIM unlock problem. Considering that it was working with AT&T, which never had a locked version of the GNex, I think he's having another issue.
I'd tell the OP to make 100% sure that his new T-Mobile SIM is activated and not defective, then try a few reboots and swaps back to the old SIM and do some troubleshooting. If it's the phone and not the SIM, its likely a mobile network registration error or an APN issue.
Looking in the notification bar, it seems like the phone doesn't think there's even a SIM inserted. Make sure you didn't damage a pin in the SIM tray, and that the SIM is properly inserted and clean. I don't think you'd get this error of "no SIM" if your phone was locked. If that was the case, the phone would recognize the SIM and prompt for an unlock code, which you're not getting.
Hi to all, I just receive a N7100. Everything is working fine is factory unlocked but when I insert the SIM card from (CUBACEL) the WIFI stops working. How can I solve that? Thanx in advance
Try another sim

Using a Samsung N7100
I have been using that SIM card on iPhones of all generations, Samsungs of many kinds, Xperias, you name it. Never got any issue but ok I´ll try just to make sure...And no, same problem with diferent SIM (from the same company though)
Funny thing I tried with one from Orange and WIFI is working ok. Anyone knows what is causing this?
This **** happen sometimes, but i don't remember what causing it, whether it's the radio firmware or something else
Try to read in other forums like the S3, this problem is well known and you may get an answer.
If you do have an update, do it.

same problem with wifi on cubacel sim card
I also have the same problem with no wifi after inserted cubacel sim card.

But after I insert an UK number and reset the phone, it works fine. the redicilous this is, after I change again with cubacel sim card, the wifi signal suddently dissapear.
I also have a lenovo android phone that I bought in Indonesia, it works fine with wifi on cubacel simcard.

Hey newmucha,
Here is a xda-developers thread that gives you a possible solution to your problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21406675
I installed the app, turned off wifi power saving mode in *#0011# and after that never had the same problem again. It seems that certain providers, CUBACEL in my case, have their SIM cards country code wrongly configured and this causes the wifi to crash.
Hope this helps!
Hi i have the same issue of wifi not working on local sim (Pakistan) and this software Wififix manager works on ICS only... I have At&t HTC ONE X + does anyone have any idea which software to use on JB 4.1.1? BTW i m rooted and using ViperXL 2.0.0 Rom.
Hi all,
Just got my Zenfone 2 yesterday and was super stoked, however the SIM2 component is not working. I have two SIM cards, one with Telus and one with Virgin Mobile. (Canadian carriers). No matter which order I put them in, the SIM2 card never works. The Zenfone 2 is able to identify the phone number associated with the SIM card in the SIM2 slot, but it is unable to actually make a network connection.
Anyone know how to get SIM2 working?
just update to the latest rom... I did and got my Sim1 working again!!

SIM2 is 2g only. So it needs to be Rogers (or network that uses Rogers) to work
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using XDA Free mobile app
Only SIM card slot 1 can access 3G/4G/LTE data. SIM card slot 2 can only be used for 2G service which include voice and basic text messaging (Not multimedia messaging services MMS or internet browsing). http://www.asus.com/us/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/HelpDesk_knowledge/

I know this is an old thread but i was wondering if anyone has found a solution to this issue? I am having the same issue trying to get Sim2 to recognize a network. The number on the Sim card is recognized. I have tried switching the cards around and the result is always the same. Both providers that I am with are in Canada. One sim is with Bell and the second is with Virgin Mobile.
Are you saying you can't even make calls on sim2?

This was first flagged up by @ShootistUK on the Eragon ROM development thread but thought I would open a thread for it here as the other thread is getting long and is probably not the place to discuss this sim card.
Mine arrived today and I have spent many hours trying to get it working in my phones(Galaxy S3, Moto G 4G as well as the P8000) - I did manage to send and receive a text and make a call after installing their own messaging app(which they tell you to do) but so far have not managed to get data working at all despite it being basically a 3UK sim so it should use the same apn I would guess. I already have 3 other 3UK sims so am quite well versed in getting them working but so far the freedompop one has defeated me!
Hopefully ShootistUK will let us know if he has had any success(I doubt or if there is anyone else who has one of these sims please let me know.
Well, you have had more success than me. I fail to even get the application to work. It always gives me an error about using up all my premium minutes (or something similar) and to turn wifi off which does nothing at all to help. However I cannot get my 3-2-1 sim from 3 to work unless I make it the default data sim which pretty much defeats the object of having the sim in the phone alongside my vectone unlimited sim.
Hmmm, interesting - so your main sim is your vectone one(which is an EE mvno) - The problem with the 3 sim is that it cannot function in 2G mode and the p8000 doesn't allow you to run both sim slots in 3G mode so you are going to lose some functionality somewhere. What is your ideal setup by the way? I suspect it's not going to be achievable unfortunately...I am currently running my 3-2-1 sim as default for data/sms/calls and have a Vodafone payg as backup in case there's no 3 signal(so really for calls and the odd text too. I also have a tpo sim which I could use for backup but I don't think I can use the FP + 3-2-1 together and in fact can't even get the FP one fully working by itself. I may try again tomorrow in a different location in case it was a case of weak signal?? I'm sure I saw that error too but I'll see if I can replicate that issue again!
Well I have got both sims functioning at the moment by enabling default data sim as the 3-2-1 sim (but disabling data in the other menu so it doesnt use the data connection) and relying on wi-fi at home and work. At least this way I can receive and make calls/texts on both sims even though I can not use mobile data on the vectone sim and do not want to use the data on the payg sim. This is not in anyway a perfect solution but I suppose an issue with dual sim phones.
Yes, that's not ideal I guess but at least the vectone sim functions in 2G mode, I don't think it's possible to get two 3-2-1 sims working together.
Well I will now see if I can get my 3 pay monthly sim to work in the phone instead of the 3-2-1 sim using the same method. Just very annoying that they only work together if I have disabled data on the vectone and enabled and disabled the data on the 3-2-1 sim. Is there anyway to get the 3-2-1 sim and another sim working together with the data set to the non 3-2-1 sim? I like vectone for the price but willing to get another provider if I can get them to co-exist.
So you enable the data in the sim cards settings and disable in the data usage section, is that correct?
Simple answer is yes, make the 3-2-1 sim the preferred data sim and then disable the data in the data usage menu. Then both sims work for calls and sms. If i need mobile data I then make the vectone sim the data sim which turns the 3-2-1 sim off.
yeah that's a bit of a clunky solution but it's the only one that'll work unfortunately but you won't be able to get 2x 3UK sims working on 3G/4G at the same time I suspect...
