Should I sell the HOX and buy SGN2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been checking out the N7105T today and has me thinking, HOX is a great phone however the battery is not interchangeable and s-on really sh!%$ me off.

Why is that even a question? GN2 is a beast and beats HOX hands down. Go right ahead. Highly unlikely that you'd be disappointed

Uuaahhh... YES!

i often played around with hox as some friends have them.
HOX > N2
build quality (BY FAR)
i like the camera a tad more on the hox
ui
development possibilities (documentation is there not like exynos)
maybe that pixels cant be seen on the hox (due to smaller screen)
Sound
N2 > HOX
Display color. I just love amoled
Battery 3100mah is just massive
Smart stay and some camera features (that's why I always come back to sammy roms and cant stay on cm or pa or whatever)
swappable sd and battery
even though there are less points in favor of the note 2, those points are more important for me. Super AMOLED and battery life are just such a big impact for my personal decision.

I own both.
Started with the HOX but the battery life was frustrating so I bought the GN2 and it was the right choice in my opinion.
The screen size is quite noticeable in a good way and battery life is a huge improvement.
The note 2 screen is not as sharp but its still good.
Speed wise they honestly feel the same. Both quite smooth with small lags here and there.
If I had the choice again, I would still buy the N2. Though the choice wasn't as hard for me because I still kept the HOX as a music player and spare phone for the car lol

Lags here and there? Mine doesn't lag at all - when does it lag, usually? Are you using stock kernel?

hi ,
i gave my hox to my son !!
thats how fed up i got with htc ,battery use.. etc !!
Got the note2 and have never missed htc (had about 5 htc phones, over period of time )
got note 2 for about 4./.5 mths now.
on stock rom 4.1.1 and battery use is just awesome ( comparing in" general "of my hox and other devices of mine )
eg in standby mode (overnight ) 1 to 3 % battery use and about 11/ 13 hours standby !
also very smooth ,no lag,and once you start playing around and using Spen ...!!!!
issues like ,"sds( if this ever happens, service provider or insurance, options ? )
, rooting does not worry me as,first it easy to do and i am very happy overall.with performance of note2.
good luck

Dump the HOX. The only thing godly about that phone is the screen but everything else is miles away from the note 2. I am particularly disappointed with the audio quality through earphones because HTC really hyped it up with the beats audio. You will immediately tell the difference between quality once you switch to the Note 2.

Thanks all for your input, battery interchangeable/ life is one of the big deals for me so its time to hunt around. Will donate the HOX to my son, I'm sure he will be wrapped.

Thinking about purchasing a Gnex

Hey so I am currently using a desire HD rooted running aosp and I love the phone.... the only problem is the battery life ...
I have been thinking about a gnex for a long time .... is struggle to get 12 hours out of this phone without charging through out the day and its killer..
How is the gnex battery life.. are the 5mp pictures still pretty good? And would it be worth getting or should I wait to see the sgs 3 and htc one xl?
Thanks for any input
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA
Gnex is a killer for sure and the 5mp camera is really amazing for 5mp. As for your conserns about battery life you get a full day with about 3-6 hours screen on time depending how you use it with standard battery!
The quality of photos has nothing to do with megapixel.
MP only determines how pixelated your photo will look if you enlarge it and how much it can be enlarged before you start noticing pixels. Of course there's a threshold when smaller mp greatly reduced the quality of photos, but 5 is far away from it.
In short, photos look great.
Battery life is meh, like most smartphones out there.
The newer phones will always have newer technology and better specs, so the wait is never-ending. If you just ask me whether this phone is worth getting now, then the answer is yes, absolutely.

Battery is "meh" on the Verizon LTE Galaxy Nexus. Battery on GSM Galaxy Nexus is fine.
And agreed with technology and specs. Don't beat the hardware race, beat the software race

All the replies have been great and with the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus, I do agree that photo quality (instant pictures) is good and battery life has been great for me (coming from Sprint EVO 3D-CDMA).
The only other factor not mentioned has been the price. Not sure if you're purchasing the device subsidized from a carrier with a 2 yr contract or purchasing off contract, but there are certain pricing points with the life cycle of phones in addition to personal budget contraints which could factor into the decision.
The Galaxy Nexus seems to be at a decent price now having been released back in December, the *premium* price for a brand new device, at least for the GSM version, has fallen a bit.
Also, the time frame around the new device release dates could factor into the pricing and timing of waiting or purchasing a new device.
There is an old saying, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush, meaning having it now can be better than waiting on the prospects of something in the future.
All factors to take into consideration! As a side note, would be great to see a device with the off contract and on conract/subsidized prices over time to see where the "sweet" spots are.
Hope that helps more to the great feedback!
The thing about battery life on these newer smartphones is that your usage choices will dramatically affect battery life, and the gnex is no exception. With the screen brightness turned down and 4G turned off, I can get 4 hours of screen-on time. Turn the brightness up on this huge screen or use the 4G or get in an area of bad reception or any number of other things, and that number can drop to 2 hours pretty quickly. But since its a Nexus, there are lots of kernels out there that can increase these numbers, again depending on your usage.
As an aside, this thing sleeps very well. It would probably last two days on stand-by if I didn't charge it up every night.
The gsm nexus gets superb idle time on battery, but the screen drains quick. So for me it averages out great. The time my phone sits on my desk between usage basically stays dead flat. So usage of like 20 min hear and there gives me great battery life. 8 hour work day i have 50% left, with about 1.5 hour actual screen time.
Thanks for all the feedback guys ... I really appreciate it!
When I have data on and brightness well below 50% I usually see the battery drop 10-15% or more in 15 minutes.... so I'm sure the gnex would be better..
The only thing that I'm worried about is the camera but I have 14 days to see if I like it...

...say HTC.
It can all be found here at techradar.phones
Well what do you guys think? Are you satisfied by the battery considering the HOX's demanding setup? Mine lasts around ten hours with moderate to heavy use. Which is similar to my last phone, the SGS i9000. I found this quite acceptable.
HTC are a very reputable company, and often listen to their consumers (hence HTCdev). Is this latest move a shy away from that?
Would be great to hear everyones thoughts.
then...time to wait for mugen

I'm not having an high end smartphone to constantly be in battery problems.
I consider the battery usage as a real annoying problem with no option to buy extra batteries.
Who buys a smartphone to use as less as possible???

Happy here with battery life of One X, battery is even better than it was in SGS2. For me at least. Around ~36h battery time while SGS2 ~30 hours when I was using it.
Gawwd why do people expect something with the resolution of a tv, and the same amount of cores of a high end pc, to not take much battery? I think its a bloody miracle these smartphones last longer than 5 minutes! As I've said before, you wouldn't expect a supercar to be economical?
Plus, the battery is an improvement to my dhd , so that is another miracle, considering the extra horsepower behind the one x

Where's the like button? I really do wonder what people expect. Get a Motorola if you want the battery to last you for a week.
More than happy with the battery life of the handset. Lasts me from when I leave home in the morning till when I get home at night and then some. Beats having to charge my phone during the day like on my DHD.
People need to get used to charging their phone every night, really don't understand people's issues with that. What's the big deal?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I know!!! My DHD is on the charger every night! It doesn't bother me
Why would they? It's fine.
To all the "glass half empty" whining types. You guys do know these things charge from USBs right. I got a great solution; plug it in when its running low.
Besides, the battery life is staggeringly good if you think about it. Mine lasts 2 days for simple calling and texting here and there and a whole day for quite heavy usage, browsing, YouTube, calls and so on. 18hours total, 4-4.5 hours screen on, 40/50mb data and 1.5 hours of calls yesterday, put it away at 1%, still not dead 2 hours of standby later.
Mine's OK, not great. I really didn't expect it to be. It'll be interesting to see how the S4 One XL does now that it's shipping. If it's about the same (with LTE off) than it's not a Teg3 issue. If it's dramatically better than we know it's not the display alone causing battery challenges.
I think that no update coming anytime soon is acceptable but no update AT ALL?
Im sorry but f*** that! Why can't they focus abit on the battery, some simple things would be to have less CRAP and bloatware, maybe if they could release 2 versions 1. simplified with the sense camera ONLY and rest ICS and the other with the full sense package that is really no necessary.
The most important thing to remember is that this a a PHONE to make calls and for that it works nicely and the battery lasts if you keep the screen off most of the time, but for a phone like this that was made to do more things I think you need to at the very least have a battery or a software symbiosis that can last for 8,9 hours of screen time.
Its Tegra 3 for f*** sake! With the super-dupe-triple-super-important-kill core2dou like nothing-quad-core-and a dedicated 5 companion core THAT IS SUPPOSE TO DELIVER KILLER BATTERY LIFE.
What is the problem?
I think there is simply too much Sense on the phone, too many uneceassy widgets and other crap that run in the background (oh you can flash cusom rom bla bla, you can freeze services with Titanium backup bla bla, but what if I want to use a stock rom?) bull**** I say, wih such and advanced CPU and memory and so on I do not see why you cannot have better battery life.
My Samsung Galaxy S2 can work for up to 3 days (ok it has a AMOLED ok ok but still, touchwhiz seems to not over run ICS) On stock ICS. Why? Because they have less 'painted over ICS functions that almost makes it run 2 OS's at the same time so maybe its no wonder the battery gets chewed up by all the sense applications.
This just my opinion from observing the phone and all the fanzy sense stuff after a week.
I believe this phone could be better in terms of software (without a doubt).
One thing they have to adress is the camera, why cant the image files be bigger than 2.9 megapixels? This is so stupid considering it has an 8 mpx camera... Also the full HD and 720p records in the latest firmware 1.28xx at approximately 24 fps and it should be 29 or 30. My Asus Prime records at a steady 30 fps at 1080p and 720p and its running Tegra 3 too.
They MUST at some point focus on battery life because if you dont have the juice to run all those fanzy apps and UI then why are they there in the first place?
I LOVE the weather graphics but I could live without it too (If I absolutely HAVE to....) the only thing necessary is the camera sense app because its the only thing that makes the phone unique and very fun and nice (but again whats the point without proper battery life?)
I hope HTC continues to work on making this one of the best first quad-core phone.
Another thing I noticed with SetCpu is that the phone is very high frequencies very frequently, if you install it and use the phone for a day you will see the graph scale, it uses 1.4 abut 40% of the time, but why? I never played games during this period or anything.
Im gonna keep my 1X because I love it and I believe in it and in the HTCdevs if they cant just be more positive perhaps
Cheers!

4-4.5 hrs screen on isn't typical usage that the majority are getting though. Closer to 3 hrs.
It's easier to be quick to judge others when your own device defies the norm for the better.
If you were struggling to get 2.5 hrs , I doubt you'd be as chirpy about it all.
Two words that will help battery life without HTC - "custom kernels"
If you need to see the difference they make just ask in one of faux's threads, e.g. in the Sensation dev forum.
did the update improve the batterie life and if so , does the HOX still run as fast or did things low down ?
Pretty much echo the below , i have had an sgs2 and have an xperia s and this phone with its companion core is at least 33% worse on battery than both of these, and the processor is supposed to be more efficient . The display excuse won't wash much as the xperia s display is at least as bright/power hungry if not more .
I would love to see the exchange / return rates on this handset due to it not living up to its hype , let alone the fault rates.
And i am not whining, i upgraded to one, i like it , i will keep it and maybe one day learn to root it and replace the rom, but lets not kid ourselves its just not a finished polished product in terms of software !
thats my 2p, thanks for reading

Is one X worth upgrade form desire HD?

I have had my htc desire hd for nearly 2 years and quite simply its the best phone I have ever owned. Everything more or less works well except GPS which is slow to get a lock. I am seriously considoring upgrading to the HTC one X. I bought the galaxy note but returned it after 1 week. Although tthe screen was outstanding, unfortunately I wasnt a fan of the interface and decided that having got used to htc I would stick with it.
Can someone post a review of the one X compared to a desire HD they may have owned. In particular in these critical areas:
1) Battery life
2) Browsing experience
3) general speed/lag issues
4) speed of GPS lock
Thanks
Having upgraded from a Desire HD:
1) Battery Life - A significant improvement but you will find this to be the case with most phones as the DHD battery life was especially poor.
2) Browsing experience - much faster rendering, increased screen estate helps too
3) general speed/lag issues - The phone feels much faster will less stuttering in sense.
4) speed of GPS lock - again much faster than the DHD and better GPS reception overall.
In addition to this the phone is so much lighter due to the materials in the case and the screen is a massive improvement it looks fantastic and will blow your socks off compared to the DHD.
Two words (DO IT)
You will not look back.
Much better in every way..........

I too have come from the Desire HD, and I can say - I thought the Desire HD was the best phone on the market until I got my One X.
Once you get your HTC One X you will see a massive improvement with the screen quality, size, weight and overall speed & quality of it in general.
It'll be the best phone you'll own to date.
Go for it.

The DHD has the same battery life issues when it was first released.
this gets resolved over time with software and kernel updates.
Don't worry about the battery
Biggest upgrade would be the screen that would be the most noticeable. I went from DHD > SGS2 > HOX. And the speed.
The screen is just something you need to see! With the HD resolution it's far superior than the DHD screen.
Battery life will vary but generally it ranges from being poor to being good depending on usage and signal and such.
Go for it as long as you don't mind it has no removable battery and no microSD card slot. If those 2 issues are not important to you then upgrade without a doubt.
Have to agree with everyone else. Compared to literally all other phones, unless you see the One X screen you really don't know just how good it is. I was beyond pleasantly surprised, its stunning and really should be the benchmark for all screens in future.
As for the rest, the phones fast as you would expect, my battery life is absolutely fine as I only keep data on when I know I need it, otherwise its WiFi 100% of the time pretty much. I get well over a day's worth of battery doing this with 60% being on screen time playing games or web browsing.
Hello my friend,
I've had the Desire HD, changed for Sensation XE to finally end up with a One X.
1. Battery was improved but DHD battery either was much better with custom roms and kernels (I would recommend Revolution or Cyanogenmod);
2. Screen-wise it's so much more than Sensation's qHD not to mention the good old DHD. I'm flabbergasted
3. Nice touch, feeling and not heavy at all. In the hot summer days I would never ever want a heavy DHD in my jeans pockets again.
A real bummer it's the lack of memory card slot. Really HTC? I hate those guys for dropping that right now when the microsd cards prices went down.
Two chapters are not covered yet: GPS and audio quality (I'm a die hard lossless fan and I have the unbelievable Sennheiser ie8i headphones so if you're interested I'll keep you posted on this also).
P.S. In order to summarize my rant above: The DHD could be a WWII Panzer. Meanwhile HTC One X it's an UFO.
I had to go back to my DHD for a few days after using my HOX for a week. It was hard to believe that I used to think the DHD screen was crisp lol

No, as you can stick it all onto Dropbox

I upgraded from a DHD and I most say that the screen on one x completly outcompetes the DHD, big plus! Also I love the 25 gb dropbox space
yup dhd sucks compared. i've gotta use mine again now whilst the one x is off for repair.
Even with custom ROM & Kernel the DHD still feel sluggish sometimes. (Or perhaps partly because it was AOSP ICS ROM put together without HTC's help) That's never been a problem will my HOX so far, even if reviews say it's not as smooth as HOS or SGS3.
Battery life was better for me on DHD with custom kernels. Very much hope for something similar on HOX soon.
GPS and screen - HOX better in every way.
And the camera! Image Sense really is a joy to use.
Go for it!

Here I am again, on subject of gps and audio quality:
1. GPS reception its ultra fast and the good old DHD can do nothing in this area. I have full reception of 5-7 satellites in a matter of seconds at 1 meter from my window, several floors above me and tall building in front. There is simply no room for improvement left there.
2. Audio is top notch. I listen to lossless music (FLAC) on Power Amp with Sennheiser ie8i. A nice touch its that one could stop now the beats audio thingy that was sadly always on in the Sensation XE for instance. Ive read in reviews that only the S3 has a better/flatter frequency domain response. Oh well. I am glad for myself that the audio quality gap between the iPhone and the rest of the world disappeared at last...
An ugly side of the ICS 4.0x os is that ringtone volume and notification volume are now connected. This is quite a stupid PIA thing and if somebody knows some solution to this I would gladly love to hear about.

One X still a good phone?

Alright the thread title already says everything.
Is the HTC One X still a good and reliable phone in day to day usage?
Is the Tegra powerfull enough to play current games and get through all daily stuff without problems in form of delays or lags?
Also regarding stock ROMs like CyanogenMod or Paranoid Android, as I'm planning (if I buy that phone) to flash one of these, do they run smooth?
I plan buying the One X because I hate the button layouts of current phones and would be happy to get some opinions.
Thanks in advance!
(If this belongs on the Q&A Thread please move it...)
Everything you said...yes. great phone. I sold my HTC one to come Bk to the x as it just doesn't compare camera etc
All games run sweet
Paranoid etc all smooth..you'll lose camera quality but it still works though

Nope, not a good phone......it's a friggin' AWESOME phone :laugh:
Matt
I love the One X, I don't feel any need of buying a new phone this year, it's a reliable phone. I use Sentinel Rom which is an AOSP rom like the ones you mention, I don't like Sense so this has been my daily driver for months, and everything works great, the phone is fast, games run as smoothly as you want them to and so on. My only concerns are the battery and the camera which are.. well, terrible. If you're not in absolute perfect conditions the pictures will be awful, don't even try low light photography, it'll be hurtful, even the flash is useless, you can't get a good photo (it's worth noticing that the results aren't the same with the stock sense camera); and the battery barely lasts a day (by day I mean the moment when you wake up until the moment you go to bed, not 24 hours, 12 hours tops). If you can live with that I strongly advise you to buy this phone. Even more due to his price range which is very mid range and you get a very high end feel phone. The build quality and the screen are outstanding, I'd say that's what it has over his greatest competitor which is the S3. Hope I helped

Quite a lot of One X's have that issue, especially if they've upgraded officially to the 3.18 base
If I were you its a no brainer, get the S3 or even better, the Nexus 4
But the S3 has:
Better camera, better audio, smoother gaming performance, micro sd and better development community
The One X has terrible battery, terrible performance in high end games, I mean some games that are supposed to be optimised (thd) lag on this phone (shadowgun for example) and the hyped features like beats audio turned out to be ruined by the HOX's crappy DAC and the so called super 'Tegra 3' turned out be nothing but a heat creating battery sucker
The only things I prefer of the One X is the build quality and excellent screen but tbh that's not really enough to make this phone 'better' than the S3
I'm not hating on the One X, it's probably the phone that I've kept the longest since I've bought it but tbh, it was a disappointment
Feel free to disagree

One thing I read here that is 100% true is that for the same price you can buy the Nexus 4 which is better in every way, it's something you should consider

Nah lol I don't have S3 (S4), so I should actually be supporting HOX
But seriously battery is way better on the S3, I borrowed my friends one for 2 weeks to see what it was like and on a bloated stock rom with at least 2 hours of gaming, I easily reached 5 and a half hours of screen on time
And come on, everyone knows the HOX flopped when it came to gaming, I mean try and play any gameloft game and it'll lag really badly (Batman, Nova 3, Wild Blood). Real racing 3 on high graphics lags and so does shadowgun. Seriously go download Iron man and tell me it's smooth. Even with Trip's kernel, it was unplayable for me and within ten minutes, CPU hit 75°C
With custom kernels it's fixed a bit but the heat produced is just ridiculous. And the camera of the S3 may not have some of the fancy features of the One X but the quality is quite a bit better

It is still a great phone... Now that the price had dropped it's a very sweet deal... Any day better than s3....

There's a basic flaw in all battery comparison posts on this thread. It's only obvious that S3 will have battery life than the HOX simply because the S3 has a large battery capacity - nearly 28% more. Hence, if all else constant, compared to the HOX the S3 should last at least 28% longer assuming both the phones are used in exactly the same way.
It's only fair on HOX to compared to another phone with a similar battery capacity, IMO
The HoX is still an amazingly good phone, no doubt about it.
My other half got a Sony Xperia Z a couple of months ago and there are some obvious hints that Sony's flagship has got some more grunt and has unbelievably good battery life, but the camera and screen are noticeably inferior when compared to the HoX.
I'll be sad when the day comes that I 'upgrade' from my HoX.

Bought a HTC One a month ago just to give it a try. Great phone, faster than One X, better battery, better sound. For the first couple of weeks, One X sat silently on my desk.
But then, the novelty of One started wearing out and I wanted to sell it before it devalued to much. I've returned to my One X a week ago and I remembered why I love it. It has a GREAT screen, it's light, has a greet feel, it's still damn fast. No need really to upgrade until next year.
@OP: if you can get one for a good price, don't hesitate. Just don't unlock the bootloader (4.2.2 is coming soon) until you test for a while the wi-fi issue that plagues most of the units.
HTC One X is awesome
This phone was a f*ng disappointment of 2012 for me since day one.
You can't have proper live wallpapers (or custom scrollable wallpapers) because some f**head engineer in HTC messed their HTC Sense too much and it consumes way too much RAM.
Battery life just sucks. At first we even had battery drainers inside the operating system (at least THOSE got fixed), the only way I overcome this is by installing HTC One X+ battery.
Look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189653
After a year of use (primarily putting the phone inside front jeans pocket) that f*ng unibody case gets weary and affects how your digitizer is working. I am lucky that I switched from jeans to a suit and I manager to find a way to prevent unibody flexing (I put the phone in the inside pocket of my jacket now).
Update (JB 4.1) promised to roll out in October makes it out only in December.
Every guy in RL that I met with this phone was also very unhappy. Curious that people at this forum are not like that - but after all, only a small percentage of users use this forum. Plus I really think that people unhappy with this phone very rarely enter the forum (like me).
All in all, if you have to buy a 2012 phone, go with Nexus 4. Better in every detail (except slight disadvantages with the screen maybe).
I was one x user for last one year, at least four of my friends bought one x after seeing mine. With all the hype about HTC one I decided to give it a try, amazing boom sound, full hd screen.
Sold my one x in the process. 1 week and I was missing my one x. Sold HTC one and bought another one x and gonna keep this till it stops working. Fantastic device, excellent build quality, looks good naked.

RR3 does NOT lag at all, nor does Shadowgun, not even in the slightest. But since Gameloft games are s**t I couldn't give a monkeys. NO game I play on the HOX ever lags. ATM I am enjoying Galaxy on Fire 2 HD, full 3D space combat sim, and it's utterly flawless.
The HOX, even after over a year, continues to impress...and I do NOT have one of the exceedingly rare variant 3's or anything like that. I have the worst of the bunch variant 0 (though I think I am lucky in my particular chip just being binned like that). And my battery is the original.
ONE thing I agree on is that it DOES get hot, but that's more a product of manufacturing process. It's manufactured on TSMC's 40nm high-speed process (the companion core being on the low-power process). This means that at full-tilt it has quite a high leakage (heat and power use) but that clock for clock it's switching speed is far superior than, for example, the S3 which uses a FAR cooler-running 32nm LP process.
Tegra 3 was designed to be performance over power. HTC realised their mistake in pairing it with such a poor battery in the HOX, hence the HOX+.
I am NOT going to say the HOX is without flaw, far from it...but it is an incredibly powerful phone with a quality build and a simply SUPERB screen that continues to hold it's own in every application even after an eternity has passed (and over a year in the smatphone market IS an eternity).

I've run every live wallpaper i've liked the look of without one single problem, even on Sense. I just tend to not like live wallpapers but they run just fine so I have no idea what you're on about there.
Battery life under use does NOT suck...the original battery capacity sucks...and I will admit that was one of HTC's few design choices on this device that really did blow. The battery is too small, but Tegra makes excellent use of it considering it's power requirements, and IDLE battery consumption is EXCELLENT. That's what NVIDIA aimed for, and HIT in my mind, maximum performance during user interaction but minimal power draw in idle to compensate.
After over a year of use the bodywork on my uncased (in all that time) and jeans pocketed HOX has NOT fatigued and the screen is in perfect condition.
Finally I would say that the people you are likely to meet on this forum are those people who utilise their phone to it's fullest possible potential. I am not talking about custom ROM's and kernels, I am talking about just USING the device to the maximum. Ordinary Joe and Jane Public tend not to do this and find many things to b*tch and moan about, in MY opinion..which I think is just as valid as your assessment.

RR3 doesn't lag on stock low graphics setting but as soon as you set it at high where it isn't an eyesore, the fps is bearable but is only about 25fps dropping to about 16 in heavy scenarios.
And sorry mate but your simply wrong, even hamdir stated that shadowgun lags and was complaining about how an 'optimised' game doesn't even run well on the HOX. It's not like it runs constantly at low fps but on too many an occasion it drops way below playable for a few seconds during gameplay
And Gameloft may have some terrible customer service and support but they have produced some really good games which I can't enjoy on the One X - Nova 3, Dark Knight and Wild Blood to name a few
And your telling me no absolutely no game lags? That's a bit of a joke considering it's well known how Nvidia put a sh*tty GPU alongside the excellent Tegra 3 processor otherwise. Go and play NFS Most Wanted, GTA Vice City, Dungeon Hunter, Dead on Arrival 2, RR3 on HIGH graphics, etc, etc. and then come back and talk
Man I'm not just hating on the One X for no reason, but sometimes you just have to face facts, the One X disappointed in many areas.

My experience with the HTC One

I am fortunate enough to have the phones I want. I have an S4, HTC One among others.
Been using the S4 since it came out on Verizon and decided to give the HTC One a try. I always liked HTC.
So far I really like the phone, love the HTC keyboard, love the display and camera. I am also very surprised by how much I like beats, either speaker or Bluetooth. I also like the simplicity of sense when compared to touchwiz. As a Google music user, I love the lock screen controls, it matches the whole look of the phone and I wish I had something like this on the S4.
I really don't care about the materials used to make the phone but I do have to say, the One looks amazing. The more I look at it, the more I like, however, the S4 feels better in the hands, has a more comfortable grip.
I really don't like BlinkFeed and I miss sense's weather widget on 3rd party launchers. Dislike not having a brightness slider in the notification bar, hate not changing my battery.
I really miss some features of the S4 wish the S4 had some features available on the One.
By far, the best HTC phone I ever used but I don't think this phone is better or worse than the S4.

Some stuff that bothers me, based on my usage.
Battery life isn't as good as the S4, I expected this however because I knew this phone had a smaller battery. But I feel the drop in battery life is worse than I expected. What makes this more annoying is the fact that charging this device TAKES FOREVER. If I am using it as a GPS device, whether it be Waze or Google maps. I can't even get it to charge. It will either hold it's charge or loose some. This is with a 2amp car charger.
Other than that, I love the slightly smaller screen. 4.7" is a good stopping point. haha. And the speakers on this thing, wow. It's not insanely louder than my S4, but the clarity is insane for a phone. Love it.
Display is superior than that of the S4 as well. I don't know that I will want AMOLED screens anymore.
Sense trumps Touchwiz, I think we all knew that. I almost want to say I prefer this look than Stock AOSP.
Now if only I could get root, so I can remove the Verizon bloat.

I am kinda surprised at all the comments about this having bad battery life. I got 6 hours of screen on time (100% wifi with 20% brightness) a couple days ago: http://i44.tinypic.com/24b7vw1.png
Yesterday, I got down to about 50% (100% LTE with 20% brightness) with nearly 3 hours of screen on time. The phone was unplugged at 8am and plugged in around 10pm at 50%. My previous phone (Droid Bionic) would be LUCKY to receive 3 hours of screen on time on a single charge whether it be on wifi, 3G, or LTE.
Today, I am currently at 60% (100% LTE with 20% brightness) with 2.15 hours screen on time and the phone has been unplugged since 8am.:http://i43.tinypic.com/x1f37n.png
Seems pretty good to me!
I am not sure what the deal is with the battery hate either.
I go all day and still have ~30% to spare at bed time.
Nothing compares to the HTC Rezound I guess.
I get amazing battery life as well.
Also, I totally disagree that the S4 feels better in the hand. To me, the One is just... Awesome. The feel of the metal vs the cheap plastic feel of the S4. Blah.
Good post though. Always nice to hear others opinions.

Oh man. That fantastic cool sensation you receive when you pick up your HTC One in the morning is just amazing, right?
Having both the S4 and the HTC one, the HTC just blows the S4 away IMHO.
I love it.
The feel, the build quality, and HTC Sense.
I also feel the S4 will never get boot loader unlock while the htc one has a much greater chance of getting unlock and hopefully even S-OFF.
I also personally feel that the htc one feel WAY better in hand than the s4.
I do feel like I can toss my S4 around though and not worry while I don't feel the same with the htc one, I may have to actually get a case
i find the battery to be good, it comes off the charger at 5:30 in the morning and i normally have around 20% left when i go to bed around 11. But i'm used to the galaxy nexus which couldn't last half a day.
I have been swapping between the One and S4 since Thursday...the S4 trumps the One in in screen size...I definitely prefer 5 over 4.7 in most situations but not all haha...expandable memory and removable battery are nice to have but non-factors to me...I'm rooted and been on a custom ROM since day 1, so u have never experienced the supposed "lag" from the stock software...also I never accepted the OTA, so I can flash all I want
The one is like a jewel though. I never used cases on any my phones, but as soon as I held the One in the store, a case was an instant cop. Speakers on the One are amazing, the clarity is ridiculous. Battery life is OK, I have about 65% on my S4 after work compared to 50% on my One. The build of the one is nice, but is a non-factor to me...
I like both phones though, I feel bad leaving my S4 at home when I use my One for the day and vice versa...

haha I feel the same way, never use a case, but the htc one I just feel I might have to. not sure yet, need more time with it.
I feel bad even leaving my s3 behind, that phone is still killer haha.
S4 will never get unlocked, but at least the htc one I have faith, I will be selling s4 after 6 month period of no boot loader unlock, i give it 6 months then move on.
I guess we can add "battery life" to the common issues of death and taxes Reality is comparing each other's battery life has too many variables to compare, so seems surprising folks keep attempting it. Huge weighted factors combined equals no practical way to compare except your own use with a previous device.
Network area strength in relation to where using the device
Apps used and duration
Data radios on in weak area when not being used
Social apps and any background updating
Display brightness
Streaming cloud data (big battery drain compared to local content)
What other radios being used or on at time
Animations in UI
Wallpapers (live ones are not battery friendly)
Seriously, how on earth can anyone compare within 50% and be accurate (at even 50%)? Answer is only if a fluke will you be anywhere close to relative.
Sorry, double post. Having issues with xda app running like puke.
Hey my friend has the Verizon one and her battery is terrible compared to my att one her GPS is shown as always on solid blue bar on the power menu in history. Thing is it's off and even location is disabled can anyone help me I have no idea what's causing it

I absolutely love the speakers. I have a phone mount on my bike and it was okay with my old Dinc (it has some felt pads so there's about a quarter inch of space to bounce the sound back and amplify it a bit) but not only do those front speakers sound perfect me but I get turned heads from pedestrians
Even goofier, I put it in the sink while I'm showering in the morning, and can even hear the bass that way.
As for battery life, went out riding this morning to take pictures at a parade, was still at 80% when I got home. As a medical student I'm almost always at home or at school or in the hospital, thus always on wifi, so this thing is great. Looking at the battery graph the only rapid drops come when the 4G signal is weak.
