We only use 410 MB, the rest is as if absorbed by the system.

but look at my attachment, my ram is only 275mb.. where are the other memory?
why is it like that?
Apparently I have 342mb. Maybe it doesn't all show up there?
Maybe some is reserved for android... the rest for applications, I don't know.
I think reading Von Neumann would do a lot of good about this.
yeah mine says 350MB
And what would the gpu do without any memory yes it shares that 512mb ram with gpu.
Hmm...This is interesting. I wonder where the rest is
lol I gave you the answer above The GPU has the rest of the ram.

No it dosent, we don't have dedicated graphics. Our GPU does not need dedicated Vram. The rest is reserved for android. The GPU can access the memory, but it's not reserved just for the GPU.

Is that true? Android is the one who is getting the other RAM? But that's so huge. Almost half of it.. Everytime I look at my running apps, it never went to 300+mb (combining used and free) that's why I always have a laggy apps and games (2.3.4) because of the few ram's left.. I thought if you have few ram left on your android, phone is running great, because Linux handles it different from Windows. But that's never happening in my case..

Thats right, with android the less free ram the better, the lag will be down to the CPU being overworked, try overclocking

GPU uses system memory for vram--128MB.
384+128=512MB

Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused. I want to purchase an Archos 101 G9 tablet but I found many different specs or maybe just wrong.
So maybe you can help me out here. I already searched this board but couldn't find exactly my misery, but maybe only because no one else had?
I found versions with 1.0, 1,2 and 1.5GHz CPUs as well as with different RAM configurations - 512MB and 1024MB.
Of course, I would like to have the 1.5GHz and 1024MB version. Are the different offers really different devices or is it like the 1.5GHz CPU just stepped down to 1.2?
Also, I red somewhere that the 1024MB are always build in, but just 512MB are available to use with HC, but the full 1024MB are available with ICS.
So, maybe you can give me some details on this topic and/or some tips what to look at when buying.
Thanks in advance,
SilverstarX

Get turbo edition (the one with 1.5ghz and 1gb ram). It has small sticker in front side, right bottom corner saying turbo. They are mostly the same. Only cpu and ram differences AFAIK. They have same custom and official roms, so you can upgrade any of them to ics. I hope this answers to your question.

Hey julle131,
thanks for your answer. I would prefer to buy the tablet online, so looking on the front would be a problem.
Also, I found "turbo" versions with 1.2GHz, too. That is what I meant confusing. So either the given details are wrong or there are different versions... thats why I'm asking here.

Do they have picture of package? Just look for 1.5ghz processor and 1gb ram. Its more expensive. All of them should be upgradeable to ics, if they really are g9.

Sorry, but you don't understand my question. I want know if the 1.5 ghz cpu is stepped down to 1.2 ghz, because the Archos 101 G9 Turbo 250 GB is often descriped with 1.2 Ghz. I thought maybe Archos build in an 1.5 ghz cpu and regulate it on 1.2 ghz...
yes the first "turbo" is on 1.2 Ghz

Is what? Limited down 1.2 Ghz or is it really a different chipset/cpu?
The 1.2 GHz version is the same CPU as the 1 GHz version. The 1.5 GHz is the omap 4460 and the 1.0 and 1.2 is the omap 4430

Bit confused because in about tablet it says omap 4460 ES1.1 but benchmarks say 1.2 CPU

Archos made a bad mistake with their different versions.
They have:
Normal 4430 @ 1.0
Turbo 4430 @ 1.2
Turbo 4460 @ 1.2
Turbo 4460 @ 1.5

My Galaxy Nexus shows that i have only 694 MB of RAM even though the specs clearly mentions 1 GB of RAM, any idea y?? =S
This has been asked a number of times... the system reserves part of the RAM...

Other hardware posts need ram too. That 300-400 MB is used by GPU and stuff. That 600 MB you see is what cpu uses.

i use Nik_Project_X_Rebirth_DHD V 1.0 By Nikhil007mmus a.k.a Nikhil Dhayatkar
The theoretical max. amount of ram for both phones is 768MB ram, the actual amount depends on how much is being allocated for the system, the amount you saw was probably a false build.prop edit.

Open HTC Taskmanager (on your friend's phone) and see what it shows.
As we all know, our device has 768 MB of RAM, so I wonder why we just can use 624MB?
Is Samsung going to update JB 4.2.2 for us ? because our GB ROM uses 555 MB RAM, JB 4.1.2 uses 624 MB RAm ==> JB 4.2.2 uses 768 MB RAM, doesn't it?
There is only 624 Listed because the rest is used by our GPU I would guess. I don't think that we'll get 4.2.2 update. Because we are just a little mid range phone and not a flagship like the s4!

Modules and cpu make use of memory as well, but this is hidden from view to the system so it doesn't show. We do actually have the 768 MB tho
for 4.2.2, CM 10.1 and the custom roms built on it are all good, but i don't expect samsun to release 4.2.2 (or 4.3 even) anytime soon either

if GPU used RAM, then why MiUI v4 has 768 MB of RAM ?
and I remember having read about samsung 4.2.2 update list and this list included our device, I have a link but it's written in Vietnamese, you can use google translate to read it
