RAM Issue - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

My Galaxy Nexus shows that i have only 694 MB of RAM even though the specs clearly mentions 1 GB of RAM, any idea y?? =S

This has been asked a number of times... the system reserves part of the RAM...
Sent from my XenonHD GNex topped with a lil Trinity frosting

Other hardware posts need ram too. That 300-400 MB is used by GPU and stuff. That 600 MB you see is what cpu uses.

No need, it seems a mod has moved it to the correct sub-forum for you.
I just thought you might get a better response posting in the correct place is all. I am unsure about your fps issue, sorry I'm not more help.
You sure you have Force GPU Rendering checked in Settings --> Developer Options? That should allow you to get 60fps
Yes of course I do! That's nexus 101! Lol

There is no need to have it on. That's nexus 102.
It does nothing bar force gpu rendering for apps that don't utilize the gpu because they aren't optimized for ics. And for stupid, pointless benchmarks.
Try flash Franco's latest nightly, r98. It has an oc'd gpu to 460mhz.
Try that and report back.

Okay yes, I realize it doesn't do anything for ICS optimized apps but OP asked why quadrant was reporting 20fps instead of 60fps, and this is directly correlated to gpu rendering being on & off.

Highest Quadrant Score of All Time on a Galaxy Nexus

Has anybody ever scored higher than this? I'm running liquid smooth and Franco.kernel overclocked to 1.5. Let me know if you've gotten higher.

The i/o inflation on that does not translate to any real world performance. The One X and Prime would still smoke the GN even with that score because they has improvements in places you can SEE.

how about the memory score?
It is a nice improvement, but memory isn't our bottleneck.
If the bottleneck isn't addressed, it doesn't matter much really.

it is. thats the only place where i have seen improvements, the memory score in quadrant. all other benchmarks are just as expected at 1.689ghz. one thing about the linaro improvements that are not measurable is the smoothness that is added to the ui.

We have already moved past the point of i/o bottlenecks. So no, it does not make a difference.
In a desktop, the HDD is ALWAYS the biggest bottleneck, so naturally an SSD will be a gamechanger. I/O is not currently a bottlneck, so you don't see any performance increase. We do not have an issue with transfer speeds within the device itself.
On the Samsung Fascinate the bottleneck was i/o due to RFS. Converting to EXT4 was more than enough to remove the bottleneck. We are already on EXT4 so...
The real improvements to be seen are CPU and GPU improvements and to a lesser extent, memory improvements. Memory improvements are actually quite good, because they affect not only the ram, but the GPU as well.
Your device (whether tablet, phone, or computer) is only as fast as your slowest bottleneck.

Archos 101 G9 different versions

Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused. I want to purchase an Archos 101 G9 tablet but I found many different specs or maybe just wrong.
So maybe you can help me out here. I already searched this board but couldn't find exactly my misery, but maybe only because no one else had?
I found versions with 1.0, 1,2 and 1.5GHz CPUs as well as with different RAM configurations - 512MB and 1024MB.
Of course, I would like to have the 1.5GHz and 1024MB version. Are the different offers really different devices or is it like the 1.5GHz CPU just stepped down to 1.2?
Also, I red somewhere that the 1024MB are always build in, but just 512MB are available to use with HC, but the full 1024MB are available with ICS.
So, maybe you can give me some details on this topic and/or some tips what to look at when buying.
Thanks in advance,
SilverstarX

Get turbo edition (the one with 1.5ghz and 1gb ram). It has small sticker in front side, right bottom corner saying turbo. They are mostly the same. Only cpu and ram differences AFAIK. They have same custom and official roms, so you can upgrade any of them to ics. I hope this answers to your question.

Hey julle131,
thanks for your answer. I would prefer to buy the tablet online, so looking on the front would be a problem.
Also, I found "turbo" versions with 1.2GHz, too. That is what I meant confusing. So either the given details are wrong or there are different versions... thats why I'm asking here.

Sorry, but you don't understand my question. I want know if the 1.5 ghz cpu is stepped down to 1.2 ghz, because the Archos 101 G9 Turbo 250 GB is often descriped with 1.2 Ghz. I thought maybe Archos build in an 1.5 ghz cpu and regulate it on 1.2 ghz...

Is what? Limited down 1.2 Ghz or is it really a different chipset/cpu?
The 1.2 GHz version is the same CPU as the 1 GHz version. The 1.5 GHz is the omap 4460 and the 1.0 and 1.2 is the omap 4430

[Q] RAM on Tmo GS3

Can someone tell what is the exact RAM that we get on S3. I have noticed that it was 1.65 GB (when I first took notice) but now it is 1.56 GB.
I am rooted and running official JB Stock.
Please reply guys,it's giving me sleepless nights.
Thanks in advance.

And also was it only 1.56 from start i.e out of box.

mine is 1.56 on JB. This is the reason of my dilemma and posting a new thread.
Update to JB man..it's superb
I also have 1.62
My suspicion is that the os reserves a little more RAM in jb than ics...0.44 of 2gb reserved in jb vs 0.38 of 2gb reserved in ics. It's just different allocation, the physical amount can't change.

moto thanks a lot man! :good:
now i can sleep in peace..a friend of mine told me that rooting decreases RAM although I have rooted my Galaxy S and used it for 2 years i never noticed this but when he mentioned I noticed that the RAM amount was less (1.65 gb compared to 2 gb I didnt know about this ram allocation % )and even more shocker was it decreased after I upgraded
