So I upgraded to 4.1.2 and my data speeds dropped from 15-24MB/s all the way down to 4-9MB/s and on top of that they are not consistent. While running Speed Test with the new update it constantly freezes than jumps up and down, ping is around 500-800ms instead of 36-100. Trying to download a 5MB application takes 10-20 minutes. I tried forcing the 1700 and 1900 band but both are still incredibly slow. Flashed back to stock 4.1.1 and yet again Speeds jump back to a consistent 15-24MB/s, updated back to 4.1.1 and speeds drop back to 4-9MB/s.
4-9MB/s is fine that is what I was getting before the refarm but what bothers me is that while it says 9MB/s it feels like it's running at 500kbps
I tested this with the stock rom non-rooted and I did a factory reset before testing both updates.
Instructions how to force a specific band:
Dial: (*#197328640#) From the Main Menu, navigate to [1] UMTS > [1]Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [7] Network Control > [2]Band Selection
I already called T-Mobile and reported it as a bug, lets hope they release an update with a different modem
For others with this issue change the APN to:

Thanks for the quick short cut but yet my speeds are still garbage with this update. Is there a way to flash stock 4.1.1 and get rid of the annoying update message? This my very first Android phone I prefer being on stock.

For a pure stock I think you're gonna get the update message. Maybe if you go stock and root you won't? Something so you'll be "modified"

just change APN setting from fast.T-mobile.com to epc.tmobile.com and you get speed back to normal.

For those with a Bell Canada LG Optimus LTE, are you guys able to turn off/disable LTE on your phone through a setting or *#*#4636#*#*?
I'm trying to figure out a way to turn off LTE on the AT&T Nitro HD, which has the Network Mode setting blocked/removed.
Create a new APN and use it when you want to "switch off" lte:
Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Menu (Add new APN)
Name: HSPA+ (can name it whatever you want)
APN: phone
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
Mmsc: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
Mms proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
Mms port: 80
Mcc: 310
Mnc: 410
Authentication type: none
APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri (no spaces)
Save.
It should save battery.
Please let me know if it works.
The feature that you speak of is not on our phones as it is locked out. I can't change those settings.

It shouldn't be locked out. I thought so at first, but if you hit the menu button while viewing the "ATT PTA" APN it should let you add one. I've done exactly what was suggested and it works... all except picture messaging.

No, I wasn't asking about the APN. I'm aware of that trick.
I wanted to see if we can actually set our phones to WCDMA only or something like that. In most if not all previous Android phones I've owned, you can force the phone to 2G only, 3G preferred, 3G only, and so on using the *#*#4636#*#* menu. But in our case, AT&T/LG deliberately left out this option in the phone.

Oh I see. Man I would LOVE to have that feature.
Um I had a bell one and I remember just going into the settings there was a choice of WCDMA or WCDMA+LTE and I just picked WCDMA and I think it turned LTE off.
I get an FC in com.android.phone when I try to do that, so nope, not working.

Yes, with Bell Canada, Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode -> WCDMA only
If I choose "GSM/WCDMA Auto" it does not stick but reverts to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto". But "WCDMA only" stays and everything works.
Now I will wait to see if the battery lasts longer. But as it was it lasts over 2 days of standby/light use (we don't have LTE serviceout here). As soon as I start using the display though the battery goes down quite fast - like in about 3 hours or less of continuous use.

I paid for an unlock code and successfully unlocked my phone for use on AT&T. I can text, call, and use WiFi, but can't get the data to work. couple things have you asked on the AT&T forum and have you done a google search on how to get your Tmobile phone to work on AT&T?
next is have you changed or rather added the new apn? if any of this is an issue for you I would say your best bet is to trade the phone on craigslist for someone with the skyrocket.
since the two phones are interchangeable as far as roms go I would suspect with a little more digging you will find your answer... check here

^ +1 apn should do the trick, pretty typical for unlocked phones to not have the apns on the sim. Manual programming is going to be fun if you are new to android

Anyone have APN settings for international version? I just bought my unlocked note 2 in Germany and have pretty sketchy data.
If you have solid hspa+ coverage please post you APN settings!!!
Thanks in advance!
Mine is coming from Newegg...would be nice to have the 'best' APN settings for solid data speed on AT&T...

Use these, The Default APN is wap.cingular and which is for OLDER phones
Use the PTA APN
Name: AT&T LTE
APN: pta
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default,agps,supl,hipri,internet
And go to your Wap.cingular default APN and scroll to the bottom and select MMS under type
Doesn't work .. I think that only works for those that upgraded to the new LTE plans

I was reading that cm10 has a complete apn list. If someone has had good results then the could check their existing settings and part then here. Att specific would be cool.
I've been trying to get LTE on my SGS3 on cm10.1 on for a long time without any luck. Hspa+ was the best I could get. Even when selecting LTE in network provider setting.
This morning I tried again without any success. For some reason I left it on LTE but abandoned my try. I was playing with the phone and went to phone info with *#*#4636#*#*. This is where I noticed that preferred network type was set to unknown and not flavor of lte. I've then forced lte there and magic I now have lte!
I think there may be a bug in cm when you select the preferred network type in network settings. For the phone it translate to unknown. When you force it in phone info (*#*#4636#*#*) it correct the problem.
Hope it will help others.

I was never able to get LTE on CM 10.1. 4G is all I'd get (4G is actually LTE). Usually I remove all APNs and enter only one with following settings:
Name: Rogers LTE
APN: ltemobile.apn
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
User Name: not set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
Authentication Type Not Set
APN Type: internet + mms <---DO NOT ENTER THIS INFO - READ BELOW
APN Protocol: IPv4
Instead of internet + mms, enter "*" <--without the quotes.
When using an APN loading program, ther internet + MMS are options that come up in a menu. It seems that if you manually type them in like this, the modem doesn't like it. The asterisk does the trick.
Naturally I'm on Rogers so for AT&T and other carriers settings might be different.
Hope this helps.
SIDENOTE:
I'm on TW based ROM now and interestingly enough I never had issue with LTE so I never had to enter APN settings manually.
So, I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II (SGH-I317) that has been network unlocked (using this method) and I am using a T-Mobile sim card. My first question is:
1) If I decide to flash a new ROM which build should I use? The ones made for the AT&T's Note II or for T-Mobile's Note II?
2) Since I switched to T-Mobile on 2/17/2014, I have noticed that my data connection is very limited, usually no LTE, just 4G or E, and also just drops the signal all together. Is this an issue with the APN settings or do I need to update the modem? I am not sure.
Current APN Settings are:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
User name: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: Not Set
MMS Port: Not Set
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: Not Set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
Enable/disable APN (greyed out): APN enabled
Bearer: Unspecified
Any help is always appreciated. Thanks,
John
Did you do the AWS activation process in the AT&T section? That may help with connectivity. Don't flash a T889 modem, *there be dragons*.
Also, change "epc" to "fast" in the APN.

Okay, so this is what I did.
Flashed Jedi Master X2 ROM from here. I asked in that thread, and they told me to select T-Mobile as the carrier when going through the AROMA installer.
Then I activated AWS from here. Now 4G/LTE is working great.... When I have a network connection. I don't know why, but I will lose all signal for about 30 seconds at a time every 1 - 2 minutes.. I have looked around, and it seems like I might need to flash a kernel. Thinking about flashing Devil's Kernal from here. I don't even know if I can do that, as for those kernels are for the SkyNote 4.3 ROM.
I really don't want to buy a new phone from TMO, so any help is good help..
I recommend you flash Agni kernel because with Devil a lot of people have phone freezing
problems.
