Morning folks,
I recently upgraded from ICS to JB as HBOOT was finally available for my carrier and so now have 1.39 installed. I went from ARHD 9.7.2 to the 19.2 JB version. All was well except when it came to VOIP audio quality.
Previously in ICS, audio in VOIP calls had been more or less perfect, with CD quality sound and little background interference. Now it's poorer than a regular call across the cell network, with both of us struggling to hear the other person clearly! It happens in both Skype and Viber, and I'm guessing wherever else the headset is required. I've tried different headsets but with no improvement. I even tired wiping the phone completely and trying different JB ROMs, like Renovated Final 3, but the problem persists.
In the end I decided to try and go back to ICS as VOIP is too important to me not to have. I wiped the phone again, installed ARHD 9.9 and all my apps. Audio is perfect again! Why would this be the case? I've searched and searched and found that other people are having this problem but I can't find any answers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone? Please guys, I really need help on this one! Any pointers?

Have you tried a ROM other than ARHD,
considering that VOIP is quite important, if this was common problem, there would have been more posts.
SO its most probably a problem with the drivers specific your device.
Report after you try a different ROM.
U should try toms like cm 10.1 or icecold jelly. I am using viber also n viber with this roms is excellent.

Hi there,
This is Viber's rep. I'm here to help.
@10xOXR - What device do you have? Which Viber version do you have? Did you try to uninstall>reinstall Viber?
Thanks,
Viber Team

Same problem here, tried couple of JB roms, sense and no sense, tried different kernels, audio quality is terrible. Any solution?
Anyone can confirm that Viber working well on JB custom rom (Sense or Aosp)?
Running Ice Cold Jelly and Viber or Tango don't seem to work, or even open.
It's even worse for you, then. I can use them but with terrible sound quality.

Hi,
I have been using custom roms for a while now, but have started facing this call waiting issue lately.
The problem is that whenever i am on a call and there is a call waiting the active call gets muted. If i reject the call waiting, then the active call comes back. I have wiped and installed fresh roms, but cant get this issue fixed. I have tried ARHD, Dogma and rcmix, but the issue is there on all three for me. It seems that i am doing something wrong.
I restore my apps using titanium backup and only restore contacts storage and sms storage from the system data.
I hope some of the champs here can help me.
Cheers,
Shamps

Yes, i am using the recommended radio. I doubt it will be radio related as i dont have any issues with call quality. Its just that the active call gets muted when the call waiting notification is there on the screen.

Hi,
I have AOKP ICS 3.5.1 ROM with franco r21 kernel installed on my HTC One X and I am having no end of problems with Wi-Fi. It will connect fine but then disconnects a few minutes later and I need to toggle Wi-Fi to get it working again.
Any ideas what to try? I don't really want to play around with ROMs again as I have everything just right and I have a decent battery life sorted now with DeepSleep. It seems that it's a common issue looking on forums but not sure if it's ever been resolved.
By the way, I don't really want to go to ICJ 4.x as I don't like Android 4.2....
Help?
Alex
Any ideas anyone? It seems to be more stable but still keeps connected when it wants to...
Use the stock kernel and it should work.

It's a bit hard to say, you have to experiment.
Try stock kernel (NCX).

Thanks for the responses, guys. When installing franco kernel, I flashed some modules in. Can I leave these or do I have to uninstall them somehow?
Hey Everyone! I was running CM11 and I noticed my sound wasnt working on speaker or through headphones. Bluetooth still working fine though. So I restored a backup of my original sense rom and that didnt help. I really need it work for my alarm clock in the morning if nothing else. Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be time to go back to stock and do a warranty exchange. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Might have to do an ruu. Seems like people are having different issues with cm11.

When I'm running some cm11 Roms I'll loose sound in my lower speaker. I just flash back to a sense or gpe rom and the sound is back. Never lost sound altogether though.

It was weird, ended up going back to stock and doing a warranty exchange.
I just flashed Carbon 4.3 last night, and when making phone calls, the recipients can barely hear me. This has been an issue on a few ROMs I've flashed, but I do not know how to resolve it. I've tried searching, but can't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's a well known issue with custom roms for opgpro. That usually happens if the custom rom you've installed is intended for a different model (i.e., using a rom for e980 on F240x model).
If you're on T-Mobile, there's an audio fix.zip that keeps popping up. I dig the name BTW

I make sure to never install ROMs for anything besides the E980 (which is the model I have). I've browsed the Carbon release thread for the ROM, and it doesn't seem to be an issue for anyone else. I was wondering if there are configs or files I can transfer over from PAC-ROM 4.3 that would fix the issue (I do not experience the audio problem with PAC)? Also to be noted, I'm running on AT&T service, not T Mobile (there seems to be a somewhat similar issue with the T Mobile OG Pro's, but the fix doesn't apply to my device).

Ya. Figured I'd ask. Well... I've never had anything like that. You should try out 4.4 though. Might make a difference.

Thanks, my name is actually an album title by Insect Warfare. And I don't have this issue with all 4.3 ROMs, only a few. Others are fine. The only reason I avoid 4.4 is because of the major lack of customization features. It kinda sucks for me cause I don't use PIE or Halo, and I figure porting those over to 4.4 is taking the spotlight. I'm a sucker for color customization and all of the tiny little tweaks, which will probably get ported last, hah.
garbled voice with 4.4 ROMs on T-mobile
I have the same issue on T-mobile. Using any 4.4 ROM results in my voice fading in and out during the call. ROMS based on stock work fine.
I have tried the kitkat in-call audio fix, and it does not help.
I think the problem is due to the noise cancelling microphone on top of the phone. If I cover up the small hole at the top with my finger during a call, the voice quality gets a little better, but still very faint.
Anyone know how to disable the top microphone?
