I've searched around but can't seem to find out how exactly to see the number of times I've flashed custom firmware. I know my GN2 shows that it's modified when you check thru settings/about device/status but how exactly do you check the actual counter? I read that you can do it thru download mode but for the life of me can't figure out how. Also read you could thru triangle away as well but you have to be on stock firmware and have to buy the app. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Turn off the phone and hold volume down + home button + power and the phone will go into a screen that talks about custom firmware. Just hit power up to go into download mode and then your flash count is in the upper left corner. Yes triangle away will reset it.

Lol. Can you get to download mode. Hold Volume Down, Home and Power. When prompted hit Volume Up. You should get into download mode. You can then load the stock tar in ODIN.

Hey all. I have been having problems with my Samsung Epic 4g. The power button doesn't work anymore and I thought maybe if I purchased a jig, I could put it into recovery mode and reset it using that. It only allows me to put it into download mode. Is there any way that I could get into recovery mode without a physical button?
If you are rooted download quick boot from the play store. It has a boot to recovery option.

Its not rooted and doesn't power on of course any alternatives?
Use odin and flash cwm5 and use it to reset it or use odin to reset the whole phone.
Although it sounds more like a hardware issue, try taking it to a sprint store

He can't . No power button means no download mode. And if usb debugging isn't on then adb won't help either.

He says in his first post that his usb jig only allows him to be put into download mode and from there he can do whatever

You could try holding down your power button and frantically plugging in and pulling out your USB cable.
It should eventually power on.

Ah, the jig...yes you are correct. So download mode is an option holding the 1 key when popping in the jig.
Once its all rooted you can remap the power button to the camera button. I dunno what free apps can do this but I know widget locker can do it. It works fairly well at the expense of some ram and of course your camera button however this won't work to turn it on only when its already on.

I'm pretty sure this is one of those, "oh all you have to do is" scenarios but right now it's pissing me off. My Uncle needs to flash his E4GT back to stock, and I was just going to have him restore the original backup. Problem is, every time he gets to his "Restore" option the power button starts to act as a back button. What the hell? What is causing this and how do I get an "Enter" button again?
Isn't the home button"enter" on those recoveries

Tried that. That's a back button too. It's all all the buttons are back buttons now. The power button starts off working right, then it does that. It happened to me before too. A message will appear at the bottom saying the power button was disabled or something. Either way we tried the Home button, and that's going back as well.
Update: He says the Home button makes the highlight bar go up/Menu makes it go down, Back is back, Search makes it go back as well. Power button makes it go back. What the hell man? If I put another recovery on there, will it affect the (MD5)file that's stored that I need to restore?
No I've changed kernels/recoveries a few times and I'm still able to restore my older backups

Hi All,
I need help flashing back to stock ROM.
I found the factory files and have populated it in Odin3 v3.07.
This is what my screenshots look like (attached).
The Odin3 screen doesn't seem to be doing anything. Should I just let it be? Is it working in the background?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
U have to make sure your Phone is in download mode. Volume down, homekey, and power button at the same time.

Why aren't you just using the 1 click method? I bricked the *&#$ out of my phone the other night and it worked like a charm. Sextape posts the links here. All you have to do is download the exe and run it.

So I tried to flash cwm over twrp this morning and now I can't get it to select anything. My only option is to reboot after holding the power button. Soft keys only scroll same as volume rockers. Any help would be appreciated unless you say to lgnpst. I still can't get that program to work on my computer. Thanks guys.

When you get into the recovery, press volume up, volume down, volume up, volume down.
That should unlock the buttons.

No dice. The menu button will scroll down but home and back do nothing. It seems its a touch version of cwm. If I could get someone to walk me through using adb I think that he posted an update for it. Ive used it before but only once. This phone is brand new to me.
