Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, But my question is I have been trying to port my SGH-L900 to straight talk, because in my area verizon is the best, and sprint is just crap when it comes to data and signal strength. I have everything working according to this guide, but for some reason the only data service I get is 1x and not 3g, I don't know if it is because of something with my data profiles, HA or AAA, or my DMU10 key? Any help would be appreciated, and Thanks in advance.
Bump, Anyone?

Confused...Straight Talk runs off AT&T & T-Mobile networks, depending on which SIM you order...they don't have anything to do with Verizon. Soooo...maybe not possible to get the Sprint Note2 flashed to Straight Talk with 3G?
if you want to use Straight Talk I would just but the International Unlocked version of the note2.
I used a LG220c witch does run on the verizon network, I had my galaxy S2 running fine on verizon, steps were to use a samsung fascinate donor phone, clone the lg220c esn and meid to the fascinate, then clone the fascinate to the S2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473141
Hi, I have two phones connected on my right now. I have a WiMAX Nexus S 4G connect to Sprint and a Sprint Galaxy S3 connected to Boost. It has 3G but no 4G LTE. What steps can I take to get 4G LTE to work on the S3. The donor phone i used on the S3 has 4G also. I have been reading several forums but I cannot find anything that supports my situation. Please reply quickly. Thanks

Boost uses WiMax, so no LTE on a flashed phone yet. You would need an LTE boost donor to get the auth keys and config from, which doesn't exist.

Boost offers LTE they have 2 LTE phones, the boost force which is a zte warp and htc one sv.

The question is how to pull the auth keys off. It works on a ICCID linked with your MEID to auth on the network. any ideas?
Hello, I am looking for a way to flash my E4GT ( Sprint Samsung Galaxy s2 ) to Boost Mobile. I have an active boost mobile account and a sanyo incognito (wont turn on). IS it possible for me to flash or swap esn numbers to get my e4gt on boost mobile ? Please Help. Let me know if you need anymore details. Thanks in advance.
You need the donor to turn on to activate it and pull the necessary data from it using CDMA WS. Without the donor being able to boot you won't be able to activate or retrieve the info you need. Your best bet would be to buy a cheap donor off of CL or ebay, or buy the cheapest 3g phone from boost they have, any will do as long as it's 3g capable.

Thank you very much for your help. I just went and swapped my phone to a boost mobile Sanyo Juno. This one is fully working.
Question your were able to use a Sanyo Juno as a donor phone for boost mobile and it worked and you have 3g?
everyone seems to say that the only phone you can use is a sanyo incognito as a donor?
So did the Sanyo Juno work?
Thanks

I believe it is LTE devices that will not lose data. CDMA only devices WILL lose data when on a phone call. Am I incorrect?
Do I need to have my intentional misinformation detector sent in for service?

The technology in LTE networks doesn't handle voice transmissions it only does data. So when you place a phone call on LTE it’s actually rolling back to the carrier’s older network to use CDMA tech to make the call.
I'm on Verizon and I can do both at the same time. I just tested it.
Well I believe you answered my question about this particular device but just to be clear both my Evo 4G and my evo 4G LTE would maintain data connection while I was talking on the phone not in an LTE area

No they didn't. You were either on Wifi or they in fact did lose their data. None of the CDMA data+voice protocols are enacted by any US carrier.

So you are on Sprint? It all depends on the carrier too, I believe. If I remember right, AT&T used to be the only one that could do that that I knew of. I switched to Verizon and realized they didn't have that capability. Then LTE came out and gave that feature to them. I dont know about any other carriers though.
Again let me explain there has been many times I have been using my phone as a hotspot device to watch movies on my ps3 and I would receive a phone call in the middle of the movie I would accept the phone call and keep watching the movie without a problem. There is no LTE in my area of Western Kentucky I am on Sprint with an exceptionally fast 3G connection , I was surprised to find that this device does not have the same capabilities

If you used the Evo 4G it may have been connected to data via 4G, which is not the same as LTE. You can do the same with LTE being connected and voice calls. However it can't be done with 3g and voice as they use the same radio and like the above post says no US carriers have that technology. The only reason 4G and LTE works is becase they are data only on seperate radios. Of course it could have been magic.

Well I dont know then. All I know is that my Verizon Galaxy Nexus does both internet and calls at the same time with no issues.
I am posting this during an active call, with no 4g connection

I'm just wondering why any download I'm attempting to make will stop whenever I receive a phone call with my Galaxy Nexus?

Its not a difficult concept. Your data connection is being cut off because you're on a phone call. You might manage to post (something that can be done on even the slowest weakest connection) but something as intensive as downloading is always going to be interrupted.
063_XOBX is mostly correct.
the CDMA GN has a CDMA radio and a LTE radio. if you are not on LTE and you get a phone call, your data will shut off.
most HTC phones (esp the EVO) have a radio chip which allows data and voice at the same time as there are 2 CDMA radios in the phone.

SVDO, while not officially supported, is alive and well. The Thunderbolt, Rezound, Incredible 4G, Viper, and Galaxy S3 on VZW are a handful of phones that are capable of simultaneous voice and 3G data.

No, VoLTE is not yet available, hopefully soon. That is not what I was saying. LTE handles data during a call, and CDMA handles the voice. If you are not on LTE or WiFi, there will be no data while on the call.

You are correct if only taking about CDMA. Cant say for any other carrier, but 100% with VZW you can do simultaneous data/voice if you are in LTE coverage.

To correct something I saw on this thread (and to complement previous commentaries):
- LTE is considered to be a 4G technology
In March 2008, the International Telecommunications Union-Radio communications sector (ITU-R) specified a set of requirements for 4G standards, named the International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced (IMT-Advanced) specification, setting peak speed requirements for 4G service at 100 megabits per second (Mbit/s) for high mobility communication (such as from trains and cars) and 1 gigabit per second (Gbit/s) for low mobility communication (such as pedestrians and stationary users).[1]
Since the first-release versions of Mobile WiMAX and LTE support much less than 1 Gbit/s peak bit rate, they are not fully IMT-Advanced compliant, but are often branded 4G by service providers. On December 6, 2010, ITU-R recognized that these two technologies, as well as other beyond-3G technologies that do not fulfill the IMT-Advanced requirements, could nevertheless be considered "4G", provided they represent forerunners to IMT-Advanced compliant versions and "a substantial level of improvement in performance and capabilities with respect to the initial third generation systems now deployed".

Hi there,
I have had my Sprint Galaxy S3 for quite a while. This pass month I see that in my area, i'm getting switched to 4g rather than 3g. I was thinking to myself, this is great, they are rolling out the 4gLTE soon and i'll finally get the speed that i'm paying for. After a couple days, i noticed that the 4g signal was getting cut off. Cut off as in i don't get any data signal at all. I would think that if i can't get 4g signal, the phone will switch over to 3g but that's not the case. My data signal is totally gone for about 5 to 10 minutes and comes back as 4g. This was getting very fustrating as i will be browsing the internet and then suddenly not get any data and would need to wait.
So i decided to call Customer Service. What the CS told me was that the S3 is not setup for 4g WiMax but setup for 4gLTE. But I told the CS that i'm getting 4g WiMax on my phone but it gets cut off for a long period of time. CS understands that we can get the signal but the phone doesn't react good with that signal, therefore, i'm getting cut off for period of times.
So the solution that the CS gave me to get constant data signal is to change my "Preferred network mode" from LTE / CDMA to CDMA only. I was taken back about this because I feel like i'm downgrading because of Sprints issues.
My question is, anyone else having this issue and can't find how the 4gLTE icon looks like for the Spring Galaxy S3, mine only says 4g, is that the LTE signal?
The s3 only supports lte, so yes the 4g icon is lte. No the s3 can't connect to wimax it can't even see wimax as an option since it doesn't have the hardware. It would be like trying to use your bluetooth headset to connect to your wifi Internet, just isn't gonna happen no matter how many different ways you try.

Most likely they are working on the tower your connecting to. Anytime the do work upgrades your signal including data can go wacky untill the work is completed.
No Galaxy S3 on any carrier can get Wimax 4G. These phones can only get 4G LTE. And i believe T-Mobile gs3 can't get LTE not 100% sure but i believe so.
Turning your phone to CDMA only will lock your phone into 3G only.
Sent from a planet far far away.
As Evil said, when you see the 4G icon its connected to 4G LTE. Its not like the iPhone that will say 4G LTE. Im having the same issue as you are. Its great that LTE is rolling out in my area, however they are still updating towers. So I don't have great LTE speeds yet. So I've turned off LTE on my phone until there update is complete.
