Hi everyone,
as my username suggest I'm a noob of the worst kind!:good:
My problem is that somehow I managed to root my phone (on htc dev)
and without backing up anything I installed
cm-7-20120616-UNOFFICIAL-marvel
Now, this rom is great but..
-I'm having issues with the gps navi (I already looked into it
and instelled a fix)/(which is not that bad I can live with what it is right now but still sometimes gps freaks out and gives wrong infos)
-the youtube apk don't work (and youtube mobile too)
-the quality of the videocam shoots is not the best..
so, like a proper noob I decided to go back the the stock rom
just to find out is not easy at all!!
I followed so many tutorials on the xda site (always failing)
and now I'm tring to make a last SOS before moving to a new phone
I love my wildfire and it would be so sad to abandon it,
so
since I keep failing I though that I might be ignoring some major issue that i don't even know!
so giving you my specifics might be the right way
to understeand what direction I should follow to install the stock rom
here's my data
Wildfire S UMTS S-ON
Android 2.3.7
CM 7.20120616
MARVEL PVT SHIP SON RL
H BOOT - 1.09.0099
RADIO7.57.39.10
thanks for the time guys!cheers
I'm assuming you have the HTC Wildfire S A510e.
Try the cm7 ROM from this link http://d-h.st/mwM
The original thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226765&page=189
This is supposed to have a fix for youtube. You'll still need to flash the d33ps1x gps fix. And if you still don't like the cm7 and want to return to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325730
Scroll down to stock ROMs and pick the one that is suitable for you. Otherwise, if you still have the RUU*.exe from Unlocking the Bootloader, try that. It should work.
thanks, Im gonna try this

So I installed the CM ROM u seggested and everything seems smooth and nice,
the only problem I'm having is that the google app pack will install normally but nothing comes up when rebooting the rom, is there any specific pack i should use?

sweet that worked !! thanks a lot
Hello again,
i purchased a second hand Htc One X. I have unlocked the bootlaoder and installed a custom rom (insert coin). Straight after that i have flashed the boot.img
Now when the phone starts up i have got no sound at all. No ringtone, no youtube no mp3, no nothing. When i plug in the headphones i get sound through them
Unfortunately i did not try if it works before i flashed the custom rom so i can't say if i destroyed something or if it was like that. Is there a reliable way to figure out if the hardware is dead or if i just messed up something?
TIA

OK, i have now tried the probam 4.1.1 with same result. No sound. I did it exactly as instructed by the howto. Wipe everything, flash boot.img then rom. Still no sound
Anyone got any other idea?

Come on guys, some one must know something about it
Probably hardware related if it doesn't work on different roms. Try an RUU/nandroid see if it works then.

I had the same problem and fixed it easily - open the phone (you can find guides on the web with a simple search) and look at the back cover near the speaker itself - you will see two small metal legs - just left them a bit up and that's it, plug the phone back together and you will have your sound back.
Cheers!
Hi,
Before the last update on my HTC One X, audio was fine. Playing videos, ringtones and notifications, playing games, music, whatever... since I received the last update with Sense 5, although all my volumes are at maximum you can hardly hear it.
When plugging in the headset I get the audio as loud as I want.
I know the speaker on HTC One X is not that good, but still - I had no problem hearing my phone ring before...
I tried everything I could find, I cannot change a thing.
Did someone experience this specifically after an update ? (apparently some people complained about the loudness of that phone before - did HTC go a little bit too far fixing that ?)
Do you think this could be solved by flashing with Revolution HD ? (which I wanted to do since it works brilliantly on my Note II)

If you are rooted (assuming you are since you talk about flashin a rom) then i recommend you try viper4android. It works flawlessly!

It's this one the purexaudio mod broke xloud and clearphase in venom sound enhancer for may work for you though hope this helps
http://forum.zzz-developers.com/showthread.pho?t=1790558
Thanks for the replies... I was only able to try things out saturday because I didn't have the phone at home...
It wasn't rooted yet, but that's done now. I flashed it with cwm recovery and Revolution HD 31.3.
During the installation, R-HD suggested the installation of PureXaudio - which I selected. There was still no change, the maximum volume of the phone is still very low.
So I checked the post for it, downloaded the mods pureXaudio and xLOUD to install them manually from recovery - still no change. I don't find anything in the settings either concerning those mods, so I don't really know what to do next. The post also states it's system wide, that nothing needs to be done for it to be effective...
Continuing my reading I came across some posts advising to modify some file in the system folder, but I can't retrieve that file. I tried by connecting the phone as media storage, I also browsed the phone's system folders with ES File Explorer - no luck.
I also checked the posts for viper4audio but I can't figure what I have to do exactly... I must say I read it rapidly 'cause I needed to go... but I do have the phone with me now, so I can try everything out.
pureXaudio seems to be a quality enhancer -- I should say, the quality is not the issue, it's really the volume.
Question : with those mods installed, shouldn't I be able to activate Beats Audio again, even without headphones ? Because I still can't...
I hope some of you can tell me if I did something wrong, or didn't do something I should have... installation of those mods didn't change a thing for me (apparently).
I'm about to flash with other ROMs to see if something changes - I'm open to all suggestions.
And as for AudioX - I suppose it was pureXaudio because I can't fine anything called AudioX in the Play Store or even by Googling it.
Beats is for headset only.
Sound like you need to clean the speak out, I would suggest opening it and cleaning from inside out but you can do it from the outside if you rather.
A tooth brush as the best way to go about it

Well I thought about the speaker, but it's unlikely. I'll try anyway, just to get that out the way, but it was still going fine before the last update...
By the way, I just tried cm-10.1.3-endeavoru - I didn't have sound at all (neither did I have wifi or bluetooth... nevermind though, that's not my current problem)
I'm back to Revolution HD now... made sure pureXaudio was installed again - still no change.
Before switching ROMs I used ROM-Cleaner and wiped all data, cache, dalvik cache...

I wiped with CWM recovery every time... do you think wiping through fastboot would change anything regarding sound ?
Now I'm looking into flashing it with an earlier stock rom nandroid backup (from a thread found here in the forum) - but the one I tried earlier didn't take. I downloaded another (even slightly older) version which I still need to try out.
I also apologize regarding the earlier "AudioX" suggestion : there is indeed an AudioX mod available, one of which every one seems to be happy - unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have any effect on mine
I'm starting to wonder if installing those mods really has any effect. I'm using CWM - which I'm told is OK for all those mods (installations do succeed), but I also noticed most people are using TFWP(?) - so I'll start looking into switching from CWM to TFWP if the earlier stock roms don't help.
did you figure it out?

I'm having the same problem. AudioX or any other mod doesn't seem to work. Did you sort it out?
I'm fairly new to custom roms and flashing. On my AT&T Galaxy S3, I decided to update to 4.3. However, I tried updating ota using the About Phone > Software Update, however, that wasn't working for me (It kept saying: No updates available). I knew this wasn't true, so I searched around and found an option (In which all I had to use was the stock recovery and flash it on there, so I did. However, I found out about Knox and how rooting is not an option with knox, so I decided to look into custom roms. I got a custom recovery, noticed warranty bit 1, don't really care about that since I'm out of warranty anyways. So I flashed a lot of custom roms and their versions (Cm 10.2/11, Paranoid Android, Slim Bean, Illusion, and more) only to find out that I can't play any videos (browser, youtube, 3rd party apps, gallery, and even recording camera didn't work)(Also audio doesn't work at all). Now I want to switch back to regular stock 4.3 using the same file I used before. I tried flashing with a custom recovery (twrp and cwm) and it kept giving me:
(assert failed: file_getprop("/system/build.prop". robuild.fingerprint")
== "samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.1.2/JZO54K/I747UCMG2:user/release-keys" ||
file_getprop("/system/build.prop". robuild.fingerprint")
== "samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.3/JSS15J/I747UCUEMJB:user/release-keys"
E:Error in /sdcard/update43.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted)
I searched around, and other people got this error mostly on a nexus when trying to get back to stock firmware. I found out that I need the stock recovery for the samsung galaxy s3 At&t, which I've searched around, and I can't find. Does anyone know a thread, or can upload their at&t samsung galaxy s3 stock recovery?
Status 7 is an error in the updater script. You may have a bad zip. Have you checked the MD5SUM in the zip that you downloaded?

I re-downloaded the zip (which worked before on stock recovery). I don't know how to check the md5sum (On most roms, maybe this one since this one doesn't get to the point where it checks for it, it says checking for md5sum, then later says no md5sum found and skips). Maybe this is because It's expecting me to be on the "samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.1.2/JZO54K/I747UCMG2" version so I can update to the "samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.3/JSS15J/I747UCUEMJB" version. On Keyes 3 under my device apparently my current version is:
I747UCUEMJ2/I747ATTEMJ2//I747UCUEMJ2
And Keyes tells me that my devices current firmware is not supported to update firmware via keyes. Any ideas how to get back to stock? Also, does anyone have a clue why any sound and any video won't work on custom roms for me?

I've had this issue before, VERY annoying. What I did was I downloaded a program for Windows called Notepad++ which allows you to edit the md5sum file.
What you need to do is unzip the file and search for the md5sum file and open it in Notepad++. Delete the lines that read "assert" and have the troublesome ID you mentioned in the OP. Re-zip the file and try flashing it again. Should be fine.

I already have notepad++, but where do I search for the md5sum, since I've wanted to use Odin to flash this but it isn't a tar or md5 file. Should I check the updater script? And is this the reason audio and video don't work on any custom room I try?

I am flashing this right now. I hope that this will work. It turns out that only mxplayer videos work, and no other third party video app. I looked around and these issues are most likely from not updated binaries or something, as mentioned in some threads.
Turns out that this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2252932 doesn't work on my phone since it just never boots from the glowing samsung logo. I have attached a link to my video of how audio and video don't workand and only work on mxplayer.

I got the wifi to work, but I still can't record video or hear audio. However, youtube does play up to 4 seconds of video, then the video freezes, but the bar resets to 0 and keeps moving forward and I don't see any more video other than the frozen frame. Could this be because of my custom binary count being 13?

The custom binary count just means you have been busy flashing non-official stuff. It is not related to your audio problem. Are you still on S3rx? Have you Factory wiped since discovering these issues?

Yes, I'm still on S3rx. When I first reboot my phone, I can't see the clock widget on the lock screen, but when i unlock and relock, it appears. Also, my imei and phone info is wiped, but since that doesn't explain audio and video not working, it doesn't matter at the moment. What else could be causing audio and video to not work?

Sorry but I'm gonna ask a few more questions and see what I can find,
1. When you last tried to flash the stock 4.3 update, did you use the OTA zip that includes Knox and the bootloader?
2. Have you attempted to flash the stock rooted Att S3 image without the bootloader attached. See here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998
3. Without imei you aren't receiving service are you?
The reason I'm asking so much about the stock ROMs is because somehow the audio/video issue you are having may be fixed by going back to stock and wiping everything and reinstalling your kernel again. I have not experienced an issue like this myself, these are just the steps I would take.

I don't remember what a bootloader is, but I downloaded the stock firmware from here http://www.smartphonejam.com/2013/11/upgrade-att-galaxy-s3-official-android43-i747ucuemjb-ota-update.html since software update option wasn't showing any updates for me. I'd recommend heading here and installing the upndwn4par stock ROM again. You did flash the one with the bootloader via that link you sent me. This link does not contain that bootloader. It has already been removed. Flash this and then wipe everything (cache, dalvik and full wipe/factory reset). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998. This could fix your video/audio issue.
s for your IMEI problem you may find your answer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374063
I have copied over mp3 files from a computer to my rooted phone, and I cannot hear anything when I play them at all. Sound works fine outside of listening to music, such as in app sounds, ringtones, videos, online music players, but local sound files are just silent.
I use Google Play Music to listen to audio, and I noticed if I play a file, then restart the phone while it is "playing" it plays just fine when it reopens, but only that file, and only that session. Replay doesn't work out. I tried playing the sound files from Google Drive, and I get the same result. It can't be the files because I can play the same files from Google Drive from my computer just fine.

Good luck!
Still no fix I've tried everything can't get around it. I've reinstalled apps that are involved and still nothing. (Also I have tried several players and its definitely not that)
Have you tried wiping the data and cache for Play Music? Or using a different music player?
Transmitted via Bacon
Yes I've wiped the data and cache, retried, uninstalled reinstalled, retried, and then tried many different players on the play store, nothing works. Although I have noticed something unusual there is just one audio file that actually plays, all the other ones won't. They all play just fine on my computer and directly from Google Drive, but when I play from Google Drive on my phone it doesn't seem to work, so it can't be the files.
Sorry but I honestly have no idea why that might be happening.
Transmitted via Bacon
Do you have any idea what I should do? Should I just deal with it? Maybe I should just factory reset and reflash everything and see if its still there but thats a lot of work for what seems to be a trivial issue
I'd definitely try a factory reset. It isn't something you should have to deal with at all.
Transmitted via Bacon
Alright I will try to do that this week

I have wiped everything and factory reset, then I flashed the rom again. First thing I did was check the music from google drive, still not working. I've done all the things I did last time to see if music works but I'm getting the same results. I'm reluctant to switch roms again because I doubt that will change anything. I used to be able to play music and that was on the rom I am using currently.
update: I've downloaded and tried Pandora Internet Radio and even that doesn't work it just plays silence like all my other audio files. the restarting to play a track on the widget still works for some reason
You probably need to update your firmware. Do you have any audio mods installed?

Can the kernel be an issue? I've never really changed my kernel but i remember long ago i had some app that modified my kernel that was related to sound maybe that messed things up? Do kernels get reset when wiped or are they persistent?
can you direct me to a kernel that is compatible with my rom? I can't seem to find one that's safe to use.

That is remarkably vague. If you don't know or remember what you did to the phone, than neither do I, and I can't help you.

A kernel will only be replaced if you flash a ROM or kernel. The kernel is part of the ROM, it won't be wiped by a factory reset/user data wipe.

The kernel is part of the ROM. If you don't know if you modified the kernel or not, just flash the ROM again, and it will re-install whatever kernel comes with the ROM.
Hmm then I guess its unrelated to the kernel because i've flashed several times after this problem started. Should I try a different rom or would that not make a difference? It isn't the rom because this used to work on the exact same rom beforehand.
